The tuna melt was SO GOOD! The latkes were hot and moist. The staff was very friendly and ready with food suggestions. I definitely will come back to try more. The banana cream pie was my favorite version of the dessert ever!
January 2025: Stopped by for lunch and was excited to try the corned beef and pastrami meat. Ended up sharing the corned beef on rye and the New York (pastrami, coleslaw and Russian dressing on rye bread). Both were very tasty 😋. I think I liked the pastrami better than the corned beef. I'd get the New York sandwich again. Tried the skinny fries 🍟 and was very pleased. Service was friendly and attentive. Will be back for more delicious food.
We had a great experience here. the pickle plate was great, loved the atmosphere, and "The Shelli" was a new and innovative dish I haven't seen elsewhere. Would definitely like to come back next time we're in LA. Fair warning, it can be a bit noisy if you / someone in your party has sensory issues.
.... Wow!! Wow! Wow! Thank you Nate 'n Al's ! Great times and fantastic food! But gee, 26-27 bucks for one corned beef sandwich?? That's pretty high! But this is one of the best deli's in Bev Hills and the employees here are EXTREMELY nice to me when I come here, and are very accommodating and down to earth. My family and I came here last night and we were treated so nicely and the food was really good. Thank you again Nate 'n Al's!! BRAVO!!!
Best pastrami sandwich ever! And big enough to share. My son lives in LA and told me he loves this restaurant. We shared a New York (pastrami with coleslaw) served on the freshest rye bread. It came with a generous side of delicious potato salad and assorted pickles. We both raved about how tasty the food was. Great friendly service too. And I bought a cheese danish to go. It was also excellent—very fresh and rich cheesy goodness. I’ll be back.
Great classic deli experience in Beverly Hills! Stopped by Nate’n Al’s for lunch and really enjoyed it. The place has that authentic old-school deli vibe — friendly service and a solid menu. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries, and it was cooked perfectly with melted cheddar and fresh toppings. The pickles and special sauce on the side were a nice touch too. Overall, the food was tasty, portions were generous, and service was quick. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but it’s worth it for the quality and the Beverly Hills atmosphere. I’d definitely come back again!
Historical plaque inscription: Al Mendelson and Nate Rimer established a delicatessen called Nate 'N Al at this site in 1945. Al and Nate had met in Detroit and moved west to Southern California to open their own delicatessen. The deli expanded over many years and was popular as a gathering place for local residents and with the luminaries from the entertainment industry. The delicatessen also represents the rise of the Jewish population in Los Angeles in the 1940s and rapidly became a gathering place for the Jewish community. It is the third oldest Jewish deli in the Los Angeles area. Historically, the deli was popular with local residents and clientele from the entertainment industry. It has been in continuous operation at its North Beverly Drive location since its founding in 1945, where it has been a consistent and popular mainstay of Hollywood producers, writers, directors, and stars. Nate eventually left the business, and Al continued to operate the delicatessen with his family. Nate 'n Al Delicatessen was operated by Mendelson's grandsons Mark and David until recently. It will continue operation under the same name, but will be relocated to 443 North Canon Drive.
A local mom 'n pop feel Delicatessen in the heart of Beverly Hills. You will find your favorite item(s) on the menu. Quality ingredients and service will have you returning as a "regular." Wait times can be extended depending on the day and time of arrival. Nate 'n Al's is a go-to for many in LA. Pickle plates!!!🥒
Easily one of my favorite Jewish delis in LA and definitely my favorite in Beverly Hills. As you would guess they have a huge menu filled with tons of options which is one of my favorite things about delis. Inside is large with tons of different booths as well as a large bakery area where you can get all sorts of baked goods to go. They don’t have a dedicated parking lot however there is an underground parking garage on the same block with first 2 hours free parking. Our server was polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. Just like most delis I would say pricing is more than it should be though. It’s not as much as a trendy restaurant but still more than a solid LA diner. For my dinner I chose the Corned Beef Sandwich and it was one of the best I have ever had. It was so juicy and bursting with flavor. I tried to get the Onion Roll but they were sold out so I opted for the Kaiser Roll instead and it was a good choice. I honestly loved every bite and I already want to go back and try more dishes. I wish they would have more soup options but honestly the flavors here are great and I would recommend to any fan of delis or to anyone visiting Beverly Hills.
I come here frequently. My server today he miss and get the wrong order two times though. Not professional but he is kind.. the newyork Sandwich is really delicious like always. But thin french fries are taste like..'french fries from yesterday'. Not really good. The thick french fries are really good.
This deli provides a winning combination of delicious food, fast service, and a welcoming atmosphere. The honey turkey and egg salad sandwiches were both excellent choices, prepared with fresh ingredients and generous portions. Despite a steady flow of customers, the wait time was minimal, showcasing the efficiency of the staff. The addition of TVs playing live sports further enhanced the dining experience, creating a lively and enjoyable environment. Overall, this deli is a fantastic option for a quick and satisfying meal.
Not sure why there are negative review but we had such a lovely experience having lunch here! The corn beef and hash was unique and delish!! Also the Nate and Al’s signature sandwich was awesome too! The way that the sandwich was crafted allowed the natural taste of the beef pastrami to shine. Portions are huge!! So if you are Asian who eats like a bird, best that you share. The service was also the best! The lady made sure we were well taken care of and made us feel at home! Great overall experience!
When we asked our LA friends for food recommendations, this was the first place they recommended as a proper American diner with amazing food and service. They were 100% right! The food was amazing and the service was 10/10. Loved how they served pickles before the meal starts too, unfortunately we didn’t get a picture of our corned beef sandwich which was perfect but I highly recommend Nate n Als.

The experience started with high expectations. The pickles were the highlight of my experience sad to say. For the price, the presentation was definitely lacking. I got the Hollywood. The corned beef was so fatty that I couldn’t even eat it. It was very disappointing. It was my first visit to this restaurant and definitely my last. And it has to be said… the bathroom was horrible. The stock better tissue at the public toilet in Venice Beach.

Average pastrami sandwich compared to NYC. The "new" corned beef hash was disappointing. The friendly and efficient wait staff is the shining star.

Rude server and food in the creamer!? - this was our 2nd time eating there after a great experience the first time. But this time our server was rude and acted like we were inconveniecing him. But then things got bad. First, the server asked for our drinks, then starts WALKING AWAT while we are telling him! and of course both our drinks arrived incorrect because he didn't stay 5 seconds to listen. Second, the coffee arrived with half-and-hald when we asked for whole milk, we tried to make due but there was CHUNKS OF FOOD INSIDE the little containers of half and half!! That almost made us leave right there. But we were hungry and gave them one more chance. Third, they brought a plate of pickles but NO SILVERWARE! So it sat there until our main food arrived, and only then did they realize we had no silverware. So then we sat there with our food waiting for them to go find us silverware, and all we could do was look at each other and ask why we came here. Night and day difference from our first visit to what will be our last. It was just too many things. Mistakes happen but this was non-stop rudeness and mistakes from start to finish, and they didn't acknowledge any of it or offer to make any of it right. Shame, we thought it would become our regular spot especially after the first time we had such a nice experience with this incredible older gentleman from the kitchen. But this time was the opposite and just awful :(

I had to work over Thanksgiving and decided to treat myself by ordering their $45 Thanksgiving dinner. Big mistake. My friend picked it up for me and brought it to my job. When I opened the box, I was horrified. The turkey leg didn’t even look like turkey—it looked more like a pig or a cat. Concerned, I called to confirm it was actually turkey. They assured me it was, so I reluctantly tried to eat it. I couldn’t. It was pink on the inside, unappetizing, and downright disgusting. The only edible part of the meal was the stuffing. The apple pie? A disaster. No ice cream, no whipped cream, just a cardboard-like slab of crust with slimy apples falling apart inside. This “renowned deli” served me one of the worst meals I’ve ever had, and it ruined my Thanksgiving. I saved the turkey leg to show I didn’t eat it and called a few days later, hoping to get some resolution. The manager, Leslie, was dismissive and rude, insisting no one else had complained and basically implying the issue was me. Despite my politeness, she made me feel like a nuisance. She said she’d speak to the chef and call me back. Hours passed—no call. When I called again, the chef got on the phone and was even ruder. Instead of showing empathy, he launched into a lengthy explanation about how the turkey leg was smoked and sourced (not sure why that affects me) and that they’d sold 12 others with no complaints. He even bragged that it’s the same product used at Disneyland, which didn’t help his cause at all. I don’t go to an upscale deli expecting amusement park food. He refused to offer a refund, saying, “It’s not my problem you didn’t like it.” He treated me like I was unreasonable for expecting an edible meal and any semblance of customer service. I would never normally write a review, but I’m honestly just so shocked and disappointed by this experience. The food was inedible, the service was dismissive and rude, and I was left feeling humiliated and unheard. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Save your money and your holiday by going elsewhere.
