One of the best sushi places I have ever eaten. The sushi was so delicious that the fish literally melted in my mouth. I will be coming back soon.
Delicious! Right down the street from my favorite hair salon Janna Hines Hair and she turned me onto their amazing yellowtail sashimi grapefruit with peppercorn. The tuna mango avocado roll is also yum.
Just had the best lunch ever. Let the chef choose your fish he won’t let you down. The crispy rice is really yummy too. Nice people as well can’t wait to come back
I had no idea what to order but got recommendations from a coworker. I got the seared albacore, seared salmon sushi, sea bass sushi and mrs. Robertson. The sea bass was heaven in a bite. So amazing. I think I went wrong when I ordered the mrs robertson. It was too spicy for me. Overall great service. Next time I will try shes from miami and the crispy rice. I cant wait to go back. Inexpensive for quality. Thursday night roll mild is amazing!
Music electro house crap and strange for a lunch meal. But wonderful lunch menu, good value $30 all in
I own a Pilates studio down the street on Robertson (Pilates Body Beverly Hills) and I have been in for sushi here several times. It is very cute and is a great local sushi spot. Everything I have had here is always delicious and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Sometimes I go here after work with my clients and friends and we all love it. It is nice to sit at the sushi bar too and watch them prepare the sushi. I wish they would bring back their happy hour menu though, because that was always a fun place to go for their happy hour and the prices were very reasonable. Overall great spot, and I definitely recommend!
We came for a late lunch and thoroughly enjoyed everything! I liked the small sake option and the nigiri was fresh and generous. We sat outside and service was a little slow, but we were there to relax. We never felt rushed. We had tuna on crispy rice, nigiri and rolls. Everything was great! I am picky about my miso soup, but definitely enjoyed theirs: not too fishy and just the right amount of ingredients.
Had very fresh sushi and rice for a quick lunch at this cozy spot in Beverly Hills.. highly recommend it for very fresh and tasty Japanese food.
This is a consistently great place for sushi. The omakase is well worth it always, but I am always happy and my tummy is full after dining here. They even make a fun experience for kids (sometimes they’ll give a cute little fruit animal for dessert or something). Highly recommend for solid rolls.
My brother and I were visiting LA and just looking for a good spot for sushi. This place was perfect! Best sushi I've ever had at a very reasonable cost. The staff was all very welcoming and knew patrons by name, but you didn't feel like an outsider as a first time customer. We'll be back for sure
The dinner special is such a good deal! Awesome staff. Thank you for receiving me. One year later. The lunch special is a better deal. There's nothing new to report with regards to the pandemic. Outdoor dining is the way of life on Robertson.
Great quality sushi, standard nigiri and maki basics as well as several interesting, creative rolls. The ceviche was a real highlight. Pleasant and helpful service. Really enjoyed our dinner.
Today for lunch, my dad took me on a daddy-daughter date. He asked me where I wanted to go and what food I was in the mood for. I said I was craving high-quality sushi with a pleasant atmosphere. He suggested Summer Fish and Rice and I got exactly what I craved. The big glass windows created a warm and welcoming environment. It’s been raining for a few weeks now in LA so it felt good to be hugged by the sunlight while eating the extraordinary sushi. The staff was kind, well mannered and seated us right away. We got there just as it opened so we happened to be the only ones there. It felt like private dining! To start, my dad and I ordered mushroom karaage. The shimeji and portobello mushrooms were lightly battered and deep fried, they had a touch of seaweed, shichimi pepper, and to finish it off a sprinkle of salt. In my seventeen years of life, this dish was the best mushroom dish I ever tasted. For my main course, I got the lunch combo which comes with an authentic miso soup, an appetizer of your choice, and a special sushi roll. This combo was out of this world. The miso soup had the perfect sodium level. Not too salty like other sushi restaurants. The crispy rice and spicy tuna was something I had never seen before. It was more fried rice than crispy rice which added a delicious twist to the texture. To end our lunch we ordered the ceviche which was phenomenal. Cubes of chilled sashimi were served in a cocktail glass. With a perfect combination of mango, avocado, tomato, and grapefruit topped with house yuzu vinegar a masterpiece was made. It was the perfect combination of flavors that left the fish popping in our mouths. In addition to the outstanding sushi, I loved that the restaurant did not play loud and obnoxious music that would disrupt me from tasting my food and enjoying my company. (unlike most LA restaurants). Parking was simple, no need to worry, just look around Robertson and Charleville for street parking. If you are looking for a sushi restaurant with an assortment of options, a welcoming atmosphere, and kind waiters, Summer Fish and Rice is the place for you.
It would be perfect if customers spoke less loudly or if the restaurant built some sort of sound-dampening walls.
Really friendly Only needed to use the bathroom
Absolutely delicious! The dinner specials are amazing! We ordered the sushi special and also added the agedashi tofu and the shrimp and vegetable tempura as appetizers and everything was fantastic! Fabulous service too.
I really like the quality of fish I get at Summer fish and Rice. The spicy tuna bowl with black rice is always delish and they give you a little appetizer platter with miso, salad, and soy beans which is great while you are waiting for your main course.
This place is very solid for the fish. I usually like a more straightforward sushi place but their twists were well managed (like citrus sea salt). Food portions were generous and staff was energetic and friendly.
Amazing sushi!!!! The ingredients are fresh and I can taste how much effort they put in their dish. Comparing to all the overpriced sushi nearby, this place earned its price. The staff member are super friendly too. I would love to come here every day if I could. My favorite dishes are the summer sushi, the salmon skin salad, the mushroom/chicken karaage, she’s from Miami roll, and my favorite dessert of all time, the green tea tempura. They taste so amazing and this place definitely deserves a visit!
A lovely sushi spot, and our new favorite spot for sushi in LA. The sushi was so fresh and flavorful, salmon was buttery and delicious, every dish was perfectly seasoned and balanced. We loved every single thing we ordered. The best crispy rice I’ve ever had, we ordered more at the end of our meal because it was so tasty. Also the place itself is a serene and minimalist space, with a warm, inviting ambiance that balances simplicity with elegance. My party ordered chicken karaage, shishito peppers, crispy rice, plenty of fish roll, tuna mango avocado roll, 911 roll, Thursday night roll, and Philly roll, and the lemon salmon sashimi, and every single dish was amazing. I also have a shellfish allergy and they were great at accommodating that, can tell they take cleanliness and allergies seriously.
Located in the heart of Beverly Hills, Summer Fish & Rice is a hidden gem that brings a slice of Japan to Los Angeles. With its fresh, high-quality seafood, a welcoming ambiance, and an excellent selection of beers and sake, this restaurant stands out as a must-visit for sushi enthusiasts and anyone looking for an authentic Japanese dining experience. Sashimi and Nigiri The quality of the sashimi and nigiri at Summer Fish & Rice is truly remarkable. Each piece is meticulously prepared, highlighting the freshness and natural flavors of the fish. The Bluefin tuna was buttery and rich, practically melting in your mouth, while the Yellowtail offered a delicate, slightly sweet taste that was perfectly balanced. The squid had a clean, subtle flavor with a nice bite, and the Halibut was soft with a refined texture. The Japanese mackerel, known for its rich and oily profile, was a standout with its depth of flavor, leaving a lasting impression. The care and attention to detail in every slice speak volumes about the quality and passion of the chefs here. Rolls: Crab, Eel, Maki, and Shishito Peppers Equally impressive were the rolls, particularly the crab, eel, traditional maki, and the delightful addition of shishito peppers. Each roll was thoughtfully crafted, combining fresh ingredients with perfectly seasoned rice. The crab roll was a wonderful blend of sweet, delicate crab meat and crisp vegetables, while the eel roll brought a delightful smokiness and a touch of sweetness that was simply irresistible. The maki rolls were equally well-executed, showcasing a harmonious balance of textures and flavors that is often hard to find. The shishito peppers added a unique, slightly smoky flavor with a hint of heat that provided a nice contrast to the cool, fresh seafood, making for a memorable bite. These rolls are perfect for those looking to explore different tastes and combinations without compromising on quality. Beverage Selection One of the highlights of Summer Fish & Rice is its impressive beer and sake menu. With a variety of options to choose from, there is something for every palate, whether you’re a sake connoisseur or simply looking to complement your meal with a crisp, refreshing beer. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to provide recommendations, ensuring that each pairing enhances the flavors of the dishes. It’s an excellent way to elevate the dining experience and enjoy a true taste of Japanese culture. Atmosphere and Service The atmosphere at Summer Fish & Rice is bright, lively, and reminiscent of a classic sushi bar in Japan (remember me a bar in Tokyo). There is a warm and inviting energy throughout the restaurant, making it a great spot for both regular patrons and first-time visitors. I highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar, where you can engage with the chef, watch them expertly prepare each dish, and gain a deeper appreciation for the art of sushi-making. The service is attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall experience with a genuine sense of hospitality. Having visited several times, I can say that the consistency in both food and service is truly commendable. Summer Fish & Rice captures the essence of a Japan sushi bar experience right in Beverly Hills. From the top-notch sashimi and nigiri to the thoughtfully crafted rolls, including the unique touch of shishito peppers, and excellent beverage options, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this is a spot that deserves a place on your list. With a vibrant atmosphere, great food, and the opportunity to engage with skilled chefs at the sushi bar, Summer Fish & Rice offers a dining experience that is both memorable and authentic. Highly recommended!
We love Summer Fish & Rice! We've been coming here for years and love the staff and the food. We love getting the omakase because it's always fresh and will leave you full! The chefs are so talented and know how to adjust based on taste and preference. This is always the best date spot or for spoiling friends who love sushi! 10/10 would recommend!
Went for dinner and had a lovely experience. Ordered one of the dinner specials that featured 4 nigiris and a hand roll. Everything was so fresh and delicious! Service was amazing and everyone who works there is so kind. Can’t wait to go back!
The best and most underrated sushi place in all of L.A. Get omakase, or allow the chefs to choose at least one or two pieces for you. The way they combine citrus and truffle with the fresh fish is divine!
We went there for a friend birthday. Their service were surprisingly good. The sushi chefs, Beer& Woody & bank, were so friendly and funny. I brought macaroon as a birthday cake and they decorated the plate sooooo pretty. Thank you for making our party memorable and delightful. We will definitely come back!
My partner and I always pass by Summer Fish and Rice whenever we go on our walks. We decided to try it out on Aug. 3, 2023, and it turned out to be an exceptional dining experience. We visited during their lunch hours (11:30 am - 2:30 pm), and we were immediately sat at the sushi bar, in front of the chefs. I went for their lunch combo set, which was priced at $29 (available for dine-in customers only). I went with the Crispy rice and a chirashi bowl. My partner ordered a "Lunch Early Catch", a part of their lunch specials. He went with Origami Sashimi, since he has a gluten intolerance. As soon as he got his dish, he noticed that there was some sauce on it. Before we could ask what it was, the sushi chef asked if everything was okay. My partner asked what the sauce was, and he was avoiding gluten due to his intolerance. The chef, without a question, graciously took back the plate. They immediately remade his dish to accommodate his dietary needs. What impressed us the most, apart from the delicious and fresh food, was the level of service we received. The staff was attentive, friendly, and the sushi chefs were VERY understanding. It's not every day that you come across such exceptional service, and it left a lasting impression on us. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at "Summer Fish and Rice" and will undoubtedly be returning for more delightful meals. Highly recommended!
Affordable omakase with fresh ingredients and great service 😊
Love this place. Found it recently and i keep coming. Woody the sushi chef is so nice. They Also are really accommodating to my gluten free needs. Definitely check them out!
Nona and Anthony were incredible and unfortunately I ate all the details and my apologies so there are no pictures 😂😩! I have driven by this place for so long and finally had the pleasure of dining here! When I say excellent I mean just that!! The food was phenomenal but it would definitely recommend The Summer Sashimi specials “The Sampler” is phenomenal in addition to the O-Toro. I like a dry chilled Sake so I recommend this one in the photo. I also like a little more jalapeño on my Yellowtail Jalapeño and they accommodated on the side perfectly. I can say I’m super picky and this really did not disappoint! Hope you try it!!
Great neighborhood place for sushi. Their food is amazing. They also have a happy hour from 5-7pm with special prices for drinks and food.

This place was incredible. Honestly, why go to Sugarfish when you can come here? In my opinion, it’s much better. The food was delicious, and the salmon was perfectly buttery and melt-in-your-mouth. It was my first visit, and I was very impressed. The space is small and charming, and I’ll definitely be returning. 🍣
Our sushi and sashimi dishes, and even items from the kitchen were delicious. Been going here for a few years and never had a bad experience. I find it comical and embarrassing that people would put one star and admit that they didn’t tip. Of course, those are the reviewers that put five stars for people that let them bring their dogs into restaurants and go to restaurants that are above their means and don’t tip.
Love Nona and Antony :) Nona helped find the right table for our temperature preferences. I ordered Pork Chashu for the appetizer which I’ll always recommend. Crispy wafer like chip with a Pork moment on top. A satisfying savory start. The lemon and salmon sashimi which slayed. The perfect lemon slice size. Tuna Tataki. Have to order some version of this at every sushi place. Mango and Nutella cheesecake. The mango was very subtle and the perfect dessert for our healthy girls on health vibes for dessert. The Nutella was Antony’s favorite due to the amount of chocolate :) It was great and very American. 🥰💝 Will always recommend!
First off, love the name of the restaurant. Lol! Now for what’s important… the food. Amazing & lengthy array of options but still simple to get through. I had the baked crab hand roll it was O’gasmic. Plus the popcorn shrimp...fairly crunchy if you like it that way. The pork chasu which had a crispy layer on the bottom filled with a lot of pork on top, very yummy if pork is your thing. Then the dessert! … my FAV! the mango cheesecake was super fire, it’s very subtle hints of mango btw! & the Nutella cheesecake which packs a huge chocolate punch. It more so gives brownie cheesecake in flavour & appearance. YUM! then some hot sake to wash it all down. My fav part however I must say was Nona & Antony’s sweet & welcoming service. It’s always so special to be in a place where ppl seem happy to be where they are & to serve you. Plus the ambience is my kind of dinner spot, low lighting but can still see. 10/10!

Parking can be a bit rough (but that’s a Beverly Hills issue and not the restaurant). The food was delicious and the lunch menu was perfectly priced and portioned. It’s not cheap, but it’s delicious! And the staff are so wonderful and attentive.
Really good middle ground sushi place that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I guess it's not omakase, because it all comes out at once, but I really enjoyed the $70 set menu. Nice service, and good sake selections. Their more general entrees and sushi dishes are pretty decently priced as well. Had the chicken teriyaki for take out once, and thought it was incredible.
The sushi here is good great atmosphere and excellent service. However, the prices of items can be quite pricy. I ordered a roll and one hand roll and it came out to be about $50. They have some great options as far as sushi however the prices deter me from coming back.
It’s fresh, great food and high prices for decent portions. Location. Menu is normal and standard like elsewhere, so nothing special.

I really wanted to like this place- I just moved to the neighborhood and it is conveniently located near my home on a cute corner. Yet, my lunch special of Tempura and Salmon Teriyaki was not very good. The tempura and asparagus (that came with the main dish) were undercooked, while the fish was overcooked. I asked the waitress about the overcooked fish, hoping something could be done- and she said they cook it well for safety reasons. She then asked if I wanted a box. I said yes, since what else was I to do, and was still hungry and needed to find somewhere else to eat. I understand needing to cook fish, but the fish was overcooked and the quality of the good fish cut completely lost. Maybe I ordered poorly and the salmon sushi would have been better.
They are very rude to us. Their food is very bad, and the old grandma lady just chasing us in the car and say: please don’t come back.” And the reason is I did not give much tips. But truth is she did not even serve me or nice to me. They are very rude, and the old grandma is very rude and lack of education, and she even tries to break my car to beg for tips.
This is a rating about the service, not the food (the menu has some stand out dishes that I really enjoy). After paying my check and leaving the restaurant, an older woman who works at the restaurant followed my date and I outside, yelling at me about the tip amount. I was caught off guard at how rude and unprofessional she was. She demanded a percentage, and her sense of entitlement was surprising. Tipping culture in the US is out of control and this is a perfect example of it. Tipping is optional and it should not be the burden of the customer to subsidize a worker's wages. She didn't do anything special or difficult for us, and I still left a little extra, but it wasn't enough for her. If she's a waitress, she should push for a better wage from her employer instead of shouting at me in the street. If she's the owner, she's already making a profit off my check, without the tip. She told me I shouldn't come back if I wasn't going to tip properly (and I've eaten here many times). Way ahead of you, lady. There's plenty of great sushi spots in LA.
Workers are very slow and rude and very unprofessional if you don’t want to work you should rest in home can you please don’t hire that kind of workers
Placed an order online, when we came to pick up we asked if we could be seated and would order more items to enjoy the restaurant. We were met by extremely rude staff, paid over $70 for 3 rolls, and they refused to let us sit inside the restaurant although it was completely empty on a Friday afternoon.. at that point we decided to just leave and asked for some soy sauce for our order and was given 1 packet.. I asked for a couple more packets and staff refused to give us more than 3. Extremely rude service will absolutely never return.
Way too small! We order sushi with salmon and we got crab stick instead. Do you know that is like the sausage of the sea? Seriously, worst experience ever! Also the food was delayed for 1 hour and a half.
We live one block away and we usually pick up a $77.00+ order. $11.50 for Teriyaki chicken, times 3, small portions and they can't even include rice??? Must pay extra $2 each. Included in with our order is about $40 worth of sushi, and they don't even give you soy sauce. So disappointed. This happened twice. They lost my business. Owner is rude too.
First off; the waitress took a very long time to come take our order. She would not refill our waters upon request, she did not bring the ginger or anything when we requested. While we were paying, because of the horrible service we did not tip and when she saw this she told us not to come back unless we’re gonna tip.
The food of the restaurant is very bad. The old grandma lady chase me and try to break my car door. She is very rude and lack of education. I think I don’t like the food and she did not give me good service, there is no point to give tips. But she event try to break my car and bag for tips like she is homeless. And she even say: don’t come to our store.” I think as a restaurant owner, it’s not professional.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE PLACE DO NOT GO HERE TERRIBLE SERVICE. THEY SAID NOT TO COME BACK UNLESS WE TIP. IT TOOK A REALLY LONG TIME TO EVEN TAKE OUR ORDER LET ALONE MY PARTYS FOOD ARRIVING. I WOULD NEVER TELL ANYONE TO COME HERE!. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!!!!!!
