This is a great little restaurant where you can watch the planes take off. It's a small airport, so no big planes are permitted. We came for breakfast and were not disappointed at all. The waitress was friendly, efficient, and anticipated all our needs. It's a little tucked away, yet a great little place that's been here for a long time.
It’s a little hole in the wall restaurant but we heard about it from TikTok and it did not disappoint! The crab cake Benedict was excellent! My family also got the banana pecan pancake, French toast combo, and soup of the day which was a champagne mushroom. Everyone was full and happy with their food. Service was so nice and were attentive even while being busy.
Quaint little Breakfast place , food was great. Service w a Great. Also had a great view of the Airport .
This was the place we decided to go to when all three of us were looking for different kind of food ! The extensive menu here was absolutely suitable to our liking ! My husband got the Salmon Benedict, I got the Salmon Salad and my mom got the Tuna Salad. All three dishes were delicious and filling and the staff was kind enough to offer extra condiments when asked. We ended our meal with a delicious apple pie and man was it worth it ! Hot pie crust, cinnamon covered apples, vanilla ice cream and whipped topping ! The perfect end to a perfect meal!
My go to breakfast place. Im always torn between the blueberry stuffed toast or the crab cake eggs benedict. Luckily i have a wonderful husband that i go halfsies with. You can even watch the planes come and go so i suggest calling ahead and asking for a table near the windows! Today they had a st. Patricks day special and my gosh was i stuffed. Soooo tender and delicious.
Came here years ago when we flew in. Good breakfast then and it did not disappoint. Waitress was attentive and the coffee cup was always full.
Excellent breakfast right by the airfield! The hash browns are worth the price of admission - just perfect. Friendly quick service was very welcome.
We had the barnstorm omelette and blueberry French toast which was both cooked to perfection. We’ll definitely be returning in the near future!
A little hidden gem. Great customer service. Awesome mother's day special. At first I thought I had the wrong address by the airport haha but I'm glad we found it.
Excellent place I discovered by mistake because I wanted to go to the Lumberjack on memorial Day and they were closed so I look for the nearest restaurant and this one popped up! Great Eggs Benedict and great service! 🤩
Great Location !! Watch Airplanes take-off and Land. Food is good quality.
Great food. Homemade flavor. Good pricing. Nice view from seating area. Very attentive staff.

This restaurant is located in the airport terminal. Parking is easy, and everything is located on the ground level. We enjoyed the large Chinese chicken salad and the Cobb salad at our window-side table. A small plane was preparing to leave, so we got to see it take off while we waited for our meal. This is a great place for breakfast and lunch, though we haven't been there for dinner. The food is always great as the chef has been there for years.
Here is another hidden gem in the San Bernadino mountains. Big Bear's airport has a great little cafe where you can get away from the tourists and have a great breakfast or lunch. We had Chicken Fried Steak! Great food, great service! Come up and check it out. You might see a great lite aircraft fly in while you are there.

Love the theme of airport. Service was great and great for kids. Parking wasn't bad at all. Irish eggs benedict was good. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a different dining experience.
Amazing Labor Day weekend with my son included the friendly staff, aeronautical ambience, and good eats at this local gem! Definitely recommend and will be back for more!
Great service. Lovely view of the mountains. However, the food was a bit overpriced- I paid $20 for a regular reuben sandwich. It was good but it wasn’t the best reuben I’ve ever eaten. I would definitely come back though. Charming place 😊
It’s worth flying into Big Bear just to try the as of May 2025 the terminal building has been torn down at the airport in this restaurant no longer exist. The airport district intends to build a new terminal building and hopefully they’ll be a new restaurant worthy of visiting again. Barnstormer Restaurant. It’s a wonderful dining facility right at the airport. It’s a favorite for breakfast, lunch or dinner. In the winter time they clear the snow off the runways very quickly. In the summer months density altitude is a serious consideration. You can get a table by the window and enjoy the ambience of the small town airport in the mountains. The food is always great. .

Smaller groups will be more comfortable. The seating is a bit cramped. Good food.

This restaurant has been on my list of restaurants to try in Big Bear. I was drawn to it because of the location of it being at the airport. My husband and I decided that we should just go and see if we have found another Big Bear favorite. We went for breakfast on a Wednesday around 9:00am. It was not crowded at all. There were only a few tables occupied and they all seemed to be of locals. We sat at a table near the window in the corner so we had privacy (not that we really needed it) and to be able to see the planes come in and out. We were here on a Wednesday so it turned out that we didn't see any planes land or take off while we were there. That was a disappointment but it was a weekday so not sure why I expected it to be busy. So here's my review: Wait staff: Very friendly and welcoming. One thing that caught my attention was that they both had dirty aprons on. Honestly I thought it was kind of gross but I always want/try to look past things like that. They were attentive and came back to ask how our food was and if everything was ok. The food: -My husband ordered the Barnstorm omelette with home fries. The omelette had cut up sausage patties, onions, peppers, mushrooms, Ortega chili and cheese. The home fries had potatoes with onions and peppers. The potatoes were cooked but not crispy. There were lots of peppers and onions in the mix. He also ordered the biscuits and gravy to go with it (you get a choice of toast or biscuits and gravy) He told me the omelette was average, nothing to brag about. The biscuits and gravy were "ok", not what he likes in a biscuit and gravy (He does like a good biscuit and gravy and this unfortunately wasn't it) -I ordered the veggie omelette, hash browns and the biscuit and gravy. The omelette had tons of freshly grilled veggies in it including mushrooms, onions, zucchini, tomato and cheddar cheese. It tasted good but needed a bit more cheese and seasoning, in my opinion. Serving it with salsa could have made it more flavorful too. In hindsight I should have asked for some. The hash browns were cooked crispy and were good. The biscuit was not like a biscuit at all. It was more cake-like (without the sweetness). The gravy didn't taste homemade, wasn't very flavorful and only had a few chunks of sausage in it. All in all it was an OK experience. I have heard that their burgers are pretty good and I might try this place again on the weekend for a burger and to watch the planes come and go. However, for now I will just cross it off my Big Bear restaurant "bucket list".
Good food, nice waitress, way overpriced. 2 orders+a side of extra bacon was around $50, the extra side of bacon was $7, and no, it’s not super tasty yummy fancy bacon, it’s just regular bacon that you can get from any place. The only good thing about this place is the view, you can look through the window and see the airport runway…but really why would you pay that much just to see planes going up and down? And when the window seats are all packed, you are stuck in the inner side of the restaurant which you don’t see anything at all.
