Wow! 10/10. I’m so glad I stumbled upon this restaurant during my trip to the Catskills. The atmosphere was incredibly cozy, with low lights, nice art, and beautiful taxidermy. Such a perfect rustic cabin vibe. Everything I ordered was excellent: the house-made bread with butter and the butternut squash soup were phenomenal, the roasted chicken with white beans was flavorful and juicy, and the apple cake was the perfect finish with tender cake, juicy apples, and a crisp brown-butter base. The service was friendly and relaxed as well. Highly recommend you visit this place if you’re looking for a warm, rustic dining experience.
I was looking for pub fare and it was a little pricier and more upscale than expected, with a very focused menu leaning more into fine dining. However, everything was near perfect, amazing atmosphere in every room, even had a little winter smoking niche off the patio, a perfect burger, excellent beer. Next time I will probably try a full blown entree now that I know how good the kitchen is. The kind of place you take the wife to.
My husband, and 2 kids sat in the dining room section of this restaurant. Amazing service, food came out quickly, and everything was so delicious! I loved how the kids menu actually had real healthy options for the little ones. And the zucchini fazzoletti vegan entree was insanely good!! Can’t wait to come back again when we are in the area!
This place was exceptionally good. We walked in without a reservation and got seated at the bar. The bartender and the staff were very friendly and the food was great! We had soup that was surprisingly tasty, and the gnudi and risotto as appetizers which were great. Then the RSK chicken. Finally for dessert we had the delicious pumpkin cake
Every fall we come up here from Long Island, and last night was the second time we’ve been to peek-a-moose. We ordered prickly pear martinis, beer battered onion rings, the dip sampler, sirloin steak with mashed potatoes, the wood grilled farm beef burger, and the steamed pumpkin cake. Everything was absolutely amazing and so fresh. Our waitress, Anne, was also amazing! Personable and made great recommendations. Can’t wait until next time we’re up here to come back!
Was here last Saturday— really excellent food. Particularly recommend the butternut squash soup. Bread and butter was fantastic. My husband said the octopus was excellent and he is picky about that because it’s his all-time fave. Another in our part said the gnudi were spectacular, and great salad. Really quality fresh food. Recommend.
One of the better restaurants I’ve been to and I’ve been to plenty!! Food was excellent. Sweet corn soup was like unreal. Sirloin was grilled to perfection & mushroom risotto was a win. Drinks & service were great as well. We arrived 15 min late and were still warmly welcomed. Place was big but cozy. I would come back to the area solely to enjoy another meal here.
We had such a wonderful evening at Peekamoose! From the moment we arrived, the reception and staff made us feel so welcome—warm, engaging, and genuinely attentive. It was just the two of us and our little beagle, and the thoughtfulness extended to him as well. They brought out a fresh bowl of water and even shared a bit of steak for him, which truly touched us. The food was fabulous. The Mexican corn was perfectly seasoned, the sirloin steak was tender and flavorful, and the pasta was absolutely delicious. Each dish was beautifully done, and the service throughout was divine—friendly, attentive, but never rushed. The cozy, inviting decor made the evening even more special. Peekamoose strikes that rare balance of warm hospitality, fantastic food, and a setting that feels like home. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend 👌
In the rustic view of upstate New York lies a gem that is this restaurant. The food is absolutely phenomenal! The compressed watermelon is truly mind blowing. The gnudi is like pillows of clouds, soft, delicate, savory, mixed with their delicious tomato sauce and it totally changes your life. The cream butter is silky smooth! The view is extra beautiful alongside with extra delicious food. What a treat! And what a lovely life it has brought me!
This was our second time dining at Peekamoose. The food is consistently excellent—comforting, flavorful, locally sourced. On our first visit we were seated in the larger main dining room, but this time we enjoyed a quieter evening in one of the side rooms on a slow night. Different vibe, still great experience. Great music playlist (I needed Shazam). The specialty cocktails were unique and well-crafted, and a surprising standout. Desserts were a nice variety to choose from. The space is warm and welcoming, with some lovely local art and decor that adds to the atmosphere. Peekamoose is definitely a standout in the area, and a smart pick for a night out in the Catskills. Highly recommend making reservations if you’re coming on a weekend.
I'm in the Catskills every weekend but usually for a day trip. This weekend though I stayed over 2 nights and really wanted a really nice, fancy meal as I don't really dine out often. This place delivered on all fronts. The service was impeccable, the food was absolutely perfect and delicious and overall I left feeling very satisfied. Just a wonderful experience!
Delicious food in a wonderful atmosphere. The flavors are a total experience for the senses. Even the Punkin soup had so many flavors. The grilled octopus was superb. The main course was delicious and the texture of the meat was incredible. I recommend making reservations since they are always busy!
I came twice with my boyfriend during our vacation this week. Dinner was amazing, service was quick & the staff was helpful with my questions about food options. If we are ever in the area again, we would come back. Ordered: onion tart, charcuterie board, potato soup, steak frites, Ice cream sampler, pumpkin cake, chicken, steak dinner, bread with chive butter, spiced apple drink/tea. Some items are only available right now in November.
Our family had a SPECTACULAR dining experience at Peekamoose during Memorial Day Weekend. The service was among the best we've encountered. The food was EXCELLENT and prepared perfectly. We enjoyed the atmosphere in the dining room, while outside was the beautiful Catskill Mountains. This was by far our favorite dining experience visiting this area. Highly recommended.
A Gem in the Mountains If you’re in the area or even within two hours, it’s an hour excellent option to spice up your usual foodie schedule. Peekamoose Restaurant has excellent waitstaff and surprisingly high-caliber food. Just make sure you HAVE RESERVATIONS A WEEK (or more) beforehand. Trust me, the wait is worth it. They have a moderate menu for drinks but some great options on that menu. Mixed drinks were very good, especially for the area. The environment is eclectic and woodsy but unique and classy. No words to really explain the experience. It’s a nice hodgepodge that my pictures won’t do justice (particularly the outdoor patio). They have a private party room and a child room which just make this even more unique and gives weight to their staff’s desire to serve and serve well.
Always love Peekamoose. Great food, service and atmosphere. I was excited to bring a large family group for the first time. Kids meals were great. However the kitchen backed up and the grown up meals came way late. Phoebe and Steve were more than accommodating to ensure they understood the issue and helped us make the situation right. I appreciate them taking the feedback and helping the rest of the night enjoyable I would recommend Peekamoose any time
Nice ambience. It was an unplanned dinner on the way back from Catskills. We had a good time. We ordered butternut squash soup, which was ok. I was expecting some more flavour to it. But it was meh.. house made funding was good. Made fresh. Awe had ordered rainbow trout, which was fresh. If we visit that place again, we might try other restaurants before we go back there. But definitely would recommend .
I genuinely don’t understand the hype around Peekamoose Restaurant. The prices are outrageous for what you get—borderline insulting. The portions were comically small, like something you’d expect from a parody of a “fine dining” restaurant, not a place charging these prices. I left still hungry and wondering where my money actually went. Worse than the portion size was the flavor—or lack of it. For food that’s supposedly elevated and thoughtfully prepared, it was shockingly bland and underwhelming. Nothing stood out in a good way, and some dishes were just flat-out unpleasant. If you’re going to charge premium prices, the food at least needs to taste good. Overall, it felt like style over substance: big prices, tiny plates, and disappointing flavor. I wouldn’t come back, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who actually enjoys good food or values their money.
