I’ve been to almost every “high-end” restaurant in Billings, Montana, and I can honestly say this place has by far the highest-quality ingredients and presentation in the local area. It’s very clear they genuinely care about both their food and their customers. The oysters tasted like they were harvested from the ocean just hours before hitting the table—which is seriously impressive for Montana. I ordered the beet salad, and the balance of flavors was incredibly satisfying. The candied walnuts paired beautifully with the goat cheese, creating a really clean, well-thought-out bite. To finish, I had the crab cakes, which were perfectly seared on the outside and served with a rich, creamy sauce that tied everything together. What really stood out to me was the presentation. Proper presentation matters just as much as quality food—it elevates the entire experience. When food looks intentional and well-crafted, it enhances the enjoyment before you even take the first bite. Jamie behind the bar made the experience even better. Her bubbly personality and genuine energy added so much to the atmosphere. Every great restaurant needs great people—it’s all part of the experience. To me, the food is always a reflection of the people behind it. I’d recommend this place to any true foodie. There are a lot of mediocre restaurants in Billings, and I really hope this one gets the exposure it deserves.

We had an excellent experience. The food was fresh and delicious and was served quickly. The pretzel was awesome! They were very accommodating with food allergies and served us close to close. The bartender did an excellent job and the drinks were perfect! 5 stars. We will visit again next time we come through town. The best meal we have had in Billings the entire weekend.

Absolutely delicious! The server was attentive and helpful. She suggested the smash burger. You can’t go wrong ordering it. The burger was tender and juicy. The sauce was really yummy. To end it she suggested the chocolate chip cookie in a skillet with vanilla bean ice cream. Would definitely come back and eat there again!

Kate- Kate was our server for this evening and for the record she was the nicest most professional i have ever had! Who dates the left container? Kate does! A+ Food- we tried the corn soup. Some salads and the Granary pasta. Presentation was very nice and every dish was tasty and fresh. The restaurant was super cozy and the fireplace was a nice touch. If i lived in Billings i would be a regular as we are finding out the food here can be hit or miss. Granary A! Nice job P.S. they have the coolest silverware!

On a business trip, I came here for dinner or alone after receiving a strong recommendation from a very good friend. I sat outside by the fire pit. The server and service were fantastic and very attentive. Good selection of beer and wine, including nonalcoholic, beer, which I appreciated and enjoyed. They serve the Athletic brand of NA beers, and the price was fair and reasonable ($5). I had the fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce. Very good fish and chips, although too expensive (I’ve had the best fish and chips in the world in the UK and New Zealand, prices for nowhere near this!). Overall, I would highly recommend. The rest of the menu looks fantastic as well, and I was curious about the burger, Arrabiata/meatball dish, and the soups.

What a lovely experience! The staff from the hostess to the chef are all delightful! The wait staff are so friendly and professional, offering great suggestions and superb service! The drinks were incredible! The lemon merengue was to die for! And the food, oh the food! Souvlaki had the most incredible sauce! The lobster roll could have come from Maine! And the whole experience start to finish in the beautiful space was excellent. Highly recommend!

Fantastic from start to finish. We had superb service! The food...Oh. My. Gosh! The portions were perfect! No food waste! That Head Chef and Pastry Chef...crazy amazing! One of my top two favorite places now in Billings to eat delicious food, seriously.

Phenomenal service and server, ask for Erica! She went astronomical with making us feel like we belonged, almost like seeing an old friend! Very adamant on helping with the menu, questions we had, what we did and didn’t like about the food. Overall a delight to be in her presence because service is everything, I will go back just to see her! Other staff was very attentive, setting was calming, dimly lit. Appetizers were fantastic, very nicely put together, the tidbits and tostadas were my favorite! I recommend this place, it’s a new favorite!

WOW! Let me tell you how amazing Katie was tonight. Me and my girlfriend have wanted to try oysters for a while and we finally decided to. We had no idea what we're doing but thank God Katie was there and she knew everything. She explained every flavor every kind East west all of it, the whole 9 yards. I never would have know how may different kinds there are. As for the filet it was amazing as well all around amazing. I will be back and thanks Katie!

If you love good wine, good atmosphere, and amazing food.... Right across the street from the Rocky Mountain Campus? This is absolutely your place. We loved it, we will come back everytime we have to drive the 5 miles to watch volleyball!

We had a wonderful time, I got to reminiscing about when coming to this restaurant when I was an RMC student and how incredibly diverse and classy it was then- to now having it even more so improved and our professional waitstaff (Ash) went above and beyond. Amazing atmosphere, for professional dining to down to earth tones. Highly recommend as always, but after being away for almost a decade I can say this place still holds my memories in place while I am able to create lovely new ones. Food is delicious, services are on par, and the overall ascetic is classic with family touches.

Absolutely wonderful. I don't understand some of the negative comments because our experience was outstanding. The server, the food the atmosphere and the prices were comparable to other restaurants with the same fare. We will be back and I can't wait!!!

We came here after church. We were greeted cheerfully and waitress was so nice!! She suggested some of her favorites. The service was fast and so delicious!!! We are definitely going back to try the rest of the menu. It says they are a Italian restaurant, but not really. There is a few pasta dishes. They have gyros, fish, hamburgers, soups and salads. Definitely a must try!!!

The hostess Naomi and our server Tessa are absolutely incredible women. They elevated our experience and made us feel so special and like we are their best friends!! They are invaluable assets to the restaurant and we will be coming back time and time again to see them. - Renee and Rebekah

Best lunch place we’ve found in Billings. It’s the place I’d choose for a proper business lunch. The wait-staff are efficient, personable, and knowledgeable while also appearing professional and neat. . The fusion duck empanadas are an unusual treat in Billings. The quality of ingredients are important. They use quality ingredients other restaurants in Billings do not, like the Spanish almonds, the duck, to the quality of the olive oil. It’s better than you can make at home because of the thoughtfully sourced ingredients and skill they have in the Granary kitchen. Well done Granary.

I've been here a few times and sampled a fair amount of the menu, and everything is spot on or better than what I would have imagined. Wait, staff is on the ball, and food came out quick and at the appropriate times corresponding to our previous course. The non alcoholic beverage section is terrific, so in large groups, you can enjoy the tastes of the real thing without being an outlier.

This was our first time here and we will absolutely be back! My boyfriend and I enjoyed chicken kimchi dumplings, steak frites with truffle fries, and their special; a bison burger with goat cheese and huckleberry jam. And if the food wasn’t enough to get us back in the door, the service was the cherry on top. Stephanie was welcoming and attentive. Not to mention, quite a rockstar behind the bar AND on the floor. She handled a full dining room with a smile on her face. Loved the atmosphere of this place and can’t wait to eat here again!

We had a party of 8. The hostess seemed put out because we didn't have reservations and had to check with management. But after that, our dining experience was just fantastic. Sydney, our waitress, did a great job. Our food was very tasty and presented nicely. The restaurant is quiet and they play great music. Best place for a group meal, but i would say reservations are recommended.

Food was really good however service was incredibly slow. It was close to an hour before we got our food. When we received it, the plates were hot, the meal was lukewarm...which tells me that it has been sitting for a minute. It was a business dinner and it wasn't a great experience since everyone was hungry and was looking forward to the dinner. The lamb was really good as well as the shrimp pasta. The harissa chicken had something to be desired as the meat was rather dry. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

We had a lovely evening meal on the patio. Our server Kayla was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Very smiley and engaging. My husband had the oysters which were amazing and I enjoyed a fresh flavorful salad. Highly recommend. This will be our new go-to.

Fancy feasting that’s for sure. I felt like I needed my pinky out when I sipped my beer. So I guess it was a good place to take the ol Lady for our first date (away from our baby) in 6 months The food was great! The portions could be a little bigger. But the server we had made it all worthwhile. A prom party had just announced they were ready to order (probably my chicken fingers and such) so he rushed over to us and said, “Hey, you guys should order real quick before that prom party blows the kitchen up with their orders (probably chicken fingers)! Bless his soul. Wish I could remember his name. I hope I tipped him adequately. Really hope that dude ends up running that place. Good times!

Food was delicious but the service was a little slow. The place was fairly busy so we understood the kitchen was busy.

This place USED to be one of the best spots in town. The past few years …. Not sure what they’re doing… menu changes constantly find something good it’s gone the next time you come. Horrible service one day ok the next it’s a hit and miss all the time. Order a pasta with shrimp…. Three shrimps cut into tiny pieces to be perceived as a lot of shrimp for $30. No thank you! If o go back it’ll be a hard decision. I’ve tried numerous times to “like” the new granary but it’s just not there. Honestly. Why why why did y’all try to fix something that wasn’t broken…. 15-20 years ago this place was one of the hottest spots in town.

Our server-Harley was attentive and friendly but not intrusive. She greeted us promptly and checked the table regularly. There were only 3 other tables during the 2 hours we dined so not sure on a busy night how service would be. The remodel is cozy and welcoming. Varied menu priced comparable to other casual restaurants in town. We ordered something from every category. The sandwich section, Smashburger and BLT were the best. The beef stroganoff was dry and tasteless, salmon over cooked and little seasoning. Steak fritters chewy and Orechiettte Marscapone (enough for 2) was a little bland. Over all, a good experience and what I would expect to pay. Very disappointed we were charged an 18% gratuity for a party of six. Ouch!

We had our first meal here and really liked the ambiance and friendly service. The giant pretzel and mussel appetizer were excellent! Unfortunately, the main courses were hit or miss. The French fries that came with three of our entrees were cold and soggy, and even the kids commented on it. My daughter’s steak was tasty, but my bone-in pork chop was dry and served over leeks that weren’t very enjoyable. For the price, I expected a bit more substance — maybe a starch or side that complemented the dish better.

Overall, I think the Granary is a fantastic staple to Billings. This review is more catered to the "speakeasy." I think the management of it is poor, and it has so much potential. Must be the manager (bald man), kicked my friends and I, and other patrons out of the basement, but told us we could still hang out at the upstairs bar. When asked if they were closed, the bartender told us no but that we could still hang out down there, and we didn't have to go. The energy of the gentleman said otherwise, and he was very unimpressed that we were not moving fast enough to get upstairs. Almost that having paying customer enjoy a space they offer was annoying. They were sufficiently staffed in both areas. This "speakeasy" has so much potential if it gets ran right! I hope something changes - right now, the energy of it seems very uninviting, which is sad!

Most recent visit ordered take out. Took almost an hour after being told 20 min. Had to walk around in the restaurant to find a waiter as there was no host or bartender after waiting for about 10 min. Food was good

Had been going here with my wife for about three years and every time was a great experience until we went a few months ago. I requested a table for 2 in a quiet part of the restaurant for our anniversary and we got sat between a birthday party and a table of 8. Our Server didnt wait on us for 30 minutes and the menu had somehow been shrunk into a quarter of what had been on there before. I am assuming they have new owners or people have just given up in customer service related jobs

Went to The Granary for Mother’s Day dinner, what a disappointment! We had studied the menu and decided on choices. The server was very nice and professional, however when I asked about the rib eye steaks that were on special, she told us ALL the steaks on the menu were out, as well as a number of other menu items! This was Mother’s Day at 6:30 and half the menu was not available! It is a beautiful place, nice bar, etc. but this was not a good experience.

Poke bowl is absolutely terrible. I guess it's on me for ording such a thing at a restaurant that does not specialize in it. But did not realize rice of all things could be so terribly prepared. Rice was dry and starchy like they had not washed the rice before cooking or it was reheated and not freshly made. Either way it was terrible. The avocado they add is a guacamole dip which is terrible for this dish. The fish was rubbery and not at all delicate. Staff does not seem to remember who ordered what or when.

Had reservation at 6:30pm didn’t get our food til 8pm, took 25 minutes just to get water and a drink for both of us, when food finally did arrive my steak was raw in some parts and inedible. Made us wait over hour and a half for our food but took the time to come explain to our friends that they couldn’t cut a steak in half for them to share because they were “too busy” which might have taken them 6 seconds and a knife. Just an overall terrible experience and an embarrassment of a restaurant.

Pretty disappointed in the food quality, I got extremely sick from old Pork in a pasta dish and my mom got sick also, my dad got sick from the oysters. Really 3 days old pork? Then I asked for a new dish and it was so spicy I won’t be back because the manager lady came over and decided it was better to argue, sure enough within the hour I was absolutely sick!

Good food and atmosphere with exceptionally slow service. We have had 3 poor experiences in a row. Last week, it took over 2 hours for our meal of burgers and salads to make it to the table. Our expensive wine was gone an hour before our food. For the trouble, we received a free dessert. We had a similar experience the prior time we tried dinner. Staff forgot to put our order in, so we waited 2.5 hours for meals. I sent an email to management with my concerns, and they have not responded. I would recommend spending your hard earned money elsewhere that values customer service and communication

D

Not at all impressed. My husband's steak was COLD as well as his sides. No ice in his iced tea. My meal was barely warand my grandaughters was barely average. The price point did not live up to the meal experience

A
Aharon Scribner

Reservations were for 5:30 we didn’t get outta there till 8. Fries served with steak dishes were soggy and disgusting. Salmon dish and one of the steaks were raw inside. If I am paying to eat out, I expect to have as good if not better a meal than I could do myself at home. Go somewhere else.
