Absolutely amazing! Philly cheese steak and NY strip were delicious, but the cream of mushroom soup was a game changer. We will definitely be back!

We all had French onion soup. Salad that was enough for four. And steak. The best hot bread, We had 3 servings of hot bread.

Had the Huge Pork Chop and Smashed potatoes. Great dinner, I'll be back often to try the rest of the menu. My first time there, but not my last. The live music was good. Finally got back to check out the philly cheese steak. You gotta try this - Killer!

My husband and I had our anniversary dinner date at The Beef. The fillet with Bearnaise sauce was superb! Cut and cooked to perfection. My husband said the same for his piece of meat. We had drinks, full dinner, coffee with dessert (homemade mounds chocolate cake by the way) and we were amazed when our bill was less than $90.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and prime rib was delicious, potato slices were seasoned well. Forgot about the shrimp, unbelievably tasty.

Having spent most of the last three decades on the west side of Binghamton, I had written off the place when it was "What's your Beef". Times, it appear, change. New owners, new name, entirely different experience. Recently, I took my girlfriend to The Beef (at her insistence) for her birthday. On a Wednesday night. Terry and Tom provided musical entertainment, with Terry on the keyboard and Tom providing vocals. Frank Sinatra, Etta James, and other classics were the mainstay of their repertoire. I danced with a beautiful girl for the first time in years, and enjoyed myself immensely. The food? Sublime. Transcendent. Between the two of us, my girl and I have 45 years in the restaurant business. It was easily the best meal we've had in years. I had the Filet Mignon with bearnaise, and she had the Rosemary Chicken. Nobody rushed us. The waitress whose name escapes me, is a college student who waits tables a couple days a week and tends bar on Saturday. She truly made us feel welcome, while still being prompt and professional. It was a good enough evening that I made reservations for Valentines day three weeks in advance a few days later. That experience was easily the match of the first. It was as good as the first meal from the first bacon wrapped scallop to the last bite of my steak. There is absolutely no doubt that it is now "our place". we

My first time at the beef restaurant. The food was amazing as well as the service. Prices are very cheap for the quality of the food. It is definitely underrated, will come back again.

Anytime we're in the Binghamton area visiting friends we request to go to The Beef for dinner. This is a great small restaurant in Binghamton's quiet neighborhoods where you can go and have a fabulous meal and at times enjoy music inside. Kevin is a great host and we enjoy our evenings there at his restaurant

M
Mark Winheld

Cozy, unpretentious "neighborhood pub" feel. Food & service excellent. Solid, grown-up menu choices. Even coffee was good (and it usually isnt, even in high-end restaurants). No wonder it's been an icon so many years.

First time here was amazing! Service was great. The price point is good for the quality of food they serve. A local gem off the beaten path that we will return to.

It may look rather humble from the outside, but if you want to go out for top-class beef and in my opinion, the best burgers in Binghamton, this is the place to go. This place has been one of Binghamton's hidden culinary gems for years. They also do a world-class Beef on Wek that could put any place in Buffalo to the test.

We were a party of 8. They were very accommodating. Our waitress was phenomenal and the food was very good!

I enjoyed my meal. Nice dark quiet atmosphere. The onion soup is unique, nothing like the standard French onion soup that we're familiar with. I had the prime rib and baked potato which was excellent. Service was excellent

Got takeout and the food was cooked perfectly, food was done on time, and hot when I got it home. The bartender who took the order was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. This place is a great neighborhood spot with good specials and a great bar selection. Staff are always friendly and willing to accommodate anything you'd need.

This was my first time eating here. I first heard about this fine eatery on the radio (COOL 106.7 runs commercials for them), & was also told by friends, after asking around, that it was definitely worth a trip. After my visit here tonight, I can definitely say that this is very true. The beers were excellent, as was the flatbread bruschetta appetizer. The Delmonico steak was cooked & seasoned to perfection, as was the loaded baked potato with sour cream & bacon, & the brussel sprouts. I also had the New York cheesecake for dessert, which was literally melt in your mouth. The atomsphere was very pleasant & laid back, & the servers were very attentive. I give this restaurant 10 stars out of five, & I will DEFINITELY be returning in the very near future. Mr. Kevin Grace, you run a excellent restaurant, & I can't wait to stop by again

The food was absolutely fantastic. The waiter was awesome. Prices are very reasonable. If there is a wait, it'll definitely be worth it! No reservations ahead of time.

I have been coming to this restaurant for decades. When I think of Prime Rib, this is the place that comes to mind. An absolute institution and treasure on the West Side. While I no longer live in the area, I try to make a trip here every time I am in town. Food and service are great (one of the best bartenders around). Great neighborhood crowd.

I can't believe I have lived here for 7 years without actually going to this gem of a place. Absolutely delicious steakhouse experience with the best french onion 🍲 and a mind-blowingly tender prime rib. The béarnais sauce was fantastic as well. The staff was warm and welcoming! The whole experience also won't cost you an arm and a leg. Can't wait to go back.

Just a moment to thank Kevin and Nicole and that very nice young lady for outstanding service. Came in Saturday two weeks ago at the suggestion of a coworker. And for a first-timer , the three of us were treated like family. And perhaps the best values as well, n the French onion soup besides the delicious Prime Rib.. Next time I am up in Binghamton, I hope to make it a point to stop in again. And go Giants!

Called to ask if they take reservations as we were a party of 7 and fond out they did not. Was told "we open at 4pm and that would be your shortest wait". We arrived at 4 to be told dinner service was not until 5pm. That was a bit of a surprise (Wish we were told on the phone). We did sit and enjoy a drink and were asked to clear out bar tab as our table was ready. We were ordered many categories of the menu and everything was very prepared. The stand outs were the scallops for me they were prepared perfectly! The prime rib was excellent yet a bit smaller size offerings than other restaurants. We inquired about getting a double size of the larger cut. They did agree to that but when the bill came they had just doubled the price of the whole meal not just a price increase for the larger cut. The French onion soup is very tasty! But beware it is not a traditional French onion. It is a puree served over a melted cheese bottom with a toast ring on top. Food was excellent, Service was fast and attentive. Atmosphere was a bit dark and dated. Our bill of $400 did include drinks for 5 of 7 people. Over all we were very happy and will be back!

A really enjoyable experience at a local pub/restaurant. Great steaks, sides, and service. Be aware, the dining room doesn't open until 5pm. We went on a Saturday night and it was very crowded and a bit noisy, but our server was fantastic and the steaks were melt in your mouth.

I came to The Beef with a coworker on a work trip and found it via Google search. It was an excellent choice! The service was fantastic, food was great, and the pricing was surprisingly affordable. It's a perfect spot for business travelers keeping an eye on their budgets. We had the 6oz filet mignon and the baked haddock. The only "con" was a 20 minute wait while we could see open tables. That was a bit confusing, but we had a beer in the bar area while we waited. Not an inconvenience.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had and I quite literally dream about this place. I was born and raised in Texas and it’s hard to find a heart meal with great service for such good prices. The Mediterranean skewers were the perfect way to start, and on recommendation of my partner I ordered a salad with prime beef. Like I said, one of the best meals of my life. If I’m ever on death row this will be my last meal request. Thank you for creating such a memorable and lovely evening for myself and my date.

Busy night at the Beef. We got there at 6 and put on our name on the list but waited 2 hrs for a table. Because we sat at the bar while waiting, we're overlooked, but the host apologized and got us a table after that. The bar tender was good at serving many people at once. He was hopping and very efficient. We had a happy night and the food and waitress were great. There was excellent entertainment there, with a beautiful singer named Adrianna, who pulled in a good crowd. We will definitely go back!!

This restaurant and pub was completely awesome in every way. Dave, my bartender and host, was attentive and ready to serve the hungry people assembled early. I digress, I arrived at 4 pm after a day at work that began before dawn. Long story short, the wait to order food until 5 pm was well worth it, and previous reviews are correct in stating to get there early. My soup was rich with love, my filet mignon was cooked perfectly medium rare, and my entire experience was outstanding. Thank you!

Third time visiting in the last couple of months. Seems like many patrons know the owner and each other. Food was great every time. Have had the orange roughy, twin tornados bearnaise, pork chop and Swiss chicken. All cooked perfectly and tasty. Sides are always cooked properly as well.

I dinned in on a Monday night. The food was amazing! The onion soup came out fresh out of the broiler, which is a rare treat. The rib eye was cooked perfectly. The waitress was extremely attentive and polite, the kitchen staff was able to accommodate my father’s Wheat and Shellfish allergies. I would come back when I have the chance.

Nice little restaurant. The dining room doesn't open until 5. I was super hungry so I was going to order two 10oz portions of the prime rib but the waitress informed me that they will serve a 20oz but it's just not on the menu. So I got the 20oz and in my opinion it seemed more like it was closer to a 30oz. Awesome! It was very tender and juicy throughout the whole thing. The side of mushrooms were delicious. The creamy horseradish sauce wasn't needed but was enjoyed.

Went to Bingo for parents weekend and found this old school steakhouse. The chef & wait staff were spot on. Knowledgeable and quick. Our group tried a bit of everything from prime rib to scallops scampi. They did not miss. No reservations available, but were seated at 530. By 600 not a seat available. Decor is old school too but I'll take great service & food any day over that! I ran into the owner as we were leaving and he was very personable. A character!

Simply put, this place is fantastic. It’s a little gem of a steak and fish joint nestled in the West side of Binghamton. The Beef has been at it…well, a long time. You can tell that the regulars have been coming here for many, many years. The service is very friendly, and they paid close attention to our table. As for the food, I’ll first say that if they are offering their Philly Cheesesteak soup, you need to order a bowl. It’s thick, there’s real steak pieces in it, and it’s not too salty. You can taste the bits of red pepper in there, too. I got the Delmonico (blackened, with bleu cheese crumbles), and my wife got the Prime Rib. We have eaten plenty of meat at the usual chains, such as Texas Roadhouse. We have also eaten at places like Chicago Cut, who charge over $90 for a similarly named cut. Grated, that’s 35 day dry aged and world-class, but it serves for comparison. What you get are steaks that exceed the quality of the chains, but at a slightly better price. The Prime Rib was perfect – super tender, perfectly medium rare, and served au jus that was made from fresh beef bones. As for the Delmonico, that was also outstanding. Juicy, tender, and loaded with flavor. No flavor was taken too far, and all of it was balanced. We have no reason to go to the chain steak places in the Binghamton area again. The Beef is cozy, and has plenty of cold beer on tap. One piece of advice – try to get there early (i.e. before 6:00 PM). Locals flood in and it can get crowded.

After a first time visit, my girlfriend & I were very happy we took the ride up from PA! I would have given 4 stars due to them not taking reservations & a 30 minute wait but we think they made up for that overall. All employees we dealt with were friendly & prompt. Our server was Hunter. I really like the old time feel of the whole place overall. I had 20 oz. prime rib that was prepared perfectly. The chili was excellent as well! The "house potatoes" were just sliced potatoes (kind of a let down). She had a Delmonico special that she said was very good as well. I think overall we got what we paid for!

Old school. This place is a neighborhood gem. Enter through the bar and into the dark dining room for a delicious steak and good sides. The price is excellent. One of the best "Pittsburgh rare" preparations I have ever had. A perfect amount of char cooked evenly on both sides with a nice cold center!

We are from Michigan and feel lucky to have found this pub. The food was fabulous and we were greeted by the owners. Everyone was extremely friendly, including the other patrons. Sarah and Rusty made us feel a part of the family. The deserts are homemade and were wonderful. We will be making detours anytime we are anywhere close to visit again. We wish to thank everyone for helping us celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary.

Really wished they served food before 5. Was hoping for a meal at 230 otherwise I will return. Thank for the reference down the road. It was great but was so looking for the prime rib. Will be back.

A very nice neighborhood restaurant of the type we reminisce about but one rarely sees anymore. Attractive (if a little dim) dining rooms and bar, charmingly decorated with photos, paintings, and sculptures. Friendly staff, and lively talk around the bar, with some excellent grilled or roasted butcher's cuts. A very satisfying evening in Binghamton.

Delicious prime rib and salad, great service and prices, BUT...terrible wine list...mostly corporate and undrinkable. Its too bad they don't give their list more thought. The Guiness on tap was super delicious, though.

A diamond on the rough. It is a little out of the way from normal traffic, but worth finding. It's not fancy, but very cozy. Any time we are in the mood for steak, this is our go to place. Best steaks in town!

J

The Beef is where you go to get beef in Binghamton. If you like your meat cooked as it should be, this is the place to go. The bar area has a very comfortable atmosphere, with all the Irish staples on tap. The dining room is looking very nice since the upgrade last year, with some beautiful pictures of Binghamton on the walls. Keep in mind, the menu is somewhat limited due to their dedication to beef, but there are a few decent alternatives. Another thing to note is that there is a pub-style menu with a few sandwiches, and a GREAT burger (ask for Blue Cheese on it) that would accommodate a smaller appetite.

O
Orlando Cortez

Landmark restaurant...cozy ambience...a little loud but expected for a typical local hole in the wall joint. Food is above average...service is average..overall:a cozy predictable not too ambitious place to gather with good food.

J

Reviewed during the COVID-19 time period. The service was very prompt and courteous. There is a reduced menu like most places. There still was a variety to choose from. The two people I was dinning with said, the seafood was some of the best they've had in awhile. My steak was very enjoyable. The seating is limited due to state restrictions. The parking is on the street. Currently it's first come first served seating. At the present time there is outdoor seating available.

O
Olivia Stalvey

Love this neighborhood joint. The food is more than decent, and I actually like that the menu isn’t CVS receipt length—it shows they know what they’re doing, in my opinion. They get pretty busy and sometimes can seem short staffed, so if you have something planned afterwards, go early! Other than that, I’ve only had super pleasant waitresses & bartenders, no complaints there. Definitely recommend it if you’re looking to feel like you’re on an episode of Cheers!, a show I’ve never seen.

J
James Karhan

I ordered take out and they under estimated the time it would take by 45 minutes. Meaning I sat around waiting with a hungry family in the car for 45 minutes. I was initially furious, they didn't seem to care at all that they wasted so much of my evening by not giving me an accurate estimate of time when I placed my order. I would never order take out again that's for sure. However, the food was amazing. Literally not a single thing including sides wasn't absolutely delicious. I fully I tend to eat here again but this time I'll be eating at the restaurant. I planned to review this place with 1 star while waiting for my food. After eating the food though I can't go lower than 4. That's just how good the food was.

A

Waiter was very good. Seemed to be the only one actually taking tables. Salad was huge, white chicken chili was alright, steak was more medium than medium rare with little flavor. Peanut butter pie was amazing.

A friend of mine used to work here many years ago and loved it. I can see why. It’s a classic, well loved, neighborhood bar. They had a piano player and a singer who also played trumpet and those two were EXCELLENT. However, it’s a small space and voices were already loud, so the music made small talk really difficult. My step dad is hard of hearing so he had a difficult time. Food was good. 7/10. We waited 45 min for a table and got there at 5:10 on a Wednesday. It’s a very popular joint. Staff was very nice from the bar tender to the host and the servers.

J
James Cioffi

Hears good things about this place during my years at school and wanted to try it while here on business. Walked into a packed bar with friendly regulars and tables full of people enjoying themselves. I felt like I was in an old movie. Was hard to get a bartenders attention, but was patient and it paid off. Vegetable Beef soup was homey, and Prime Rib sandwich was juicy and delicious- I couldn’t put it down. House Hand-Cut potatoes were a bit dry - but I blame myself for not asking for some house steak sauce. All-in-all, place is hidden gem for a great meal.

Dinner with friends, we were seated immediately on a Friday evening (6:30pm). The service was friendly and very attentive. Water glass was always filled. My sirloin was delicious and cooked medium well perfectly. The huge bowl of cheesey cauliflower soup was, sadly, not very flavorful. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meal. The Beef is a decent sized restaurant, next to Leroy's Package Store. There is a bar when you walk in. Then the restaurant seating is a walk around. The decor is dark wood with low lighting. The night we were there, 2 couples in the table next to us were very loud and tipsy. Tough time hearing the wait service. Still we enjoyed our dinner and left satisfied.

K
Kay Jones

It does NOT open at 1 pm, and I'm not sure why the owners would allow such wrong hours to be posted on Google. We sat there with my 102 year old mother, waiting to come in for lunch, and the person inside rudely said they were not open until 4.

p
popsomali

First time at this place. Went there with a group of 9. Server was new and did a great job of keeping some demanding people happy. The food was very tastey with one exception. They couldn't cook a steak to order. Both filets were cooked to a perfect medium rare. But all 4 delmonico steaks were over cooked. All were ordered medium rare and came out well done. That's my beef...

L
Loni C

Food was exceptional, service was sub par. Between forgotten add-ons, a rushed server, and a host who didnt seem like he wanted to seat us, is the reason for 3 stars. 5pm seems to be too busy for a family of 3 to dine.

l
laura hollenbeck

Wrong time posted on their sites. Bar dark but friendly. Been there twice and they werent serving dinner yet, so we'll never know how the food is, but friends say its great. They do not serve dinner until 5pm. And i wouldnt know how to get into the restaurant part, but there must be a way. This is why only 3 stars.

I
IOANNIS GIANNAKIS

The Beef is an average shop. It is not great, it is not awful, it's ok. The atmosphere is defined by the wooden decor on the walls, hallmark of any pub, which I like since it creates a sense of warmth and coziness. The food is fine but it contrasts greatly with the "fine dinning" decorum of the stuff. To be clear, the staff is polite and the service quick but their composure feels out of place. I visited the place for dinner and while my dish was well presented, the dish of my friend was the opposite, but to be fair they we're both tasty. I don't remember how much it costed per person but I don't recall been taken aback by the number.

J
Joe Woidich

An extremely popular restaurant, but very crowded and very noisy. My friend and I sat at the bar and had great service. The cream of mushroom soup was delicious and a bowl, rather than a cup, was served with dinner, so that was a bonus. The special panko crusted orange roughy looked delicious and was according to my friend, but my 12 oz delmonico steak, while cooked perfectly, was not flavorful at all. Disappointed the steak didn't live up to the restaurant's name.

I
Ife Barrett

Wish I could say I had the chance to try their food. Attitude from the woman who answered the phone, resulted in me ordering via ubereats. I get it you don't want to take it to go order over the phone, take it up with your boss! I gave three stars not for the food I never had the pleasure of trying, but for the nasty attitude of the lady who answered the phone. I've had an amazing cocktail there. I'll create a different review for that.

D
Donna Page

They are a good restaurant with a quality menu, but their servers need to be educated on pricing. My last three visits there the servers quote you lower prices on their specials and the check reflects a much higher price. On our last visit, the server admitted to her mistake and corrected the price. I really enjoy the food, I wish the owner would take care of this problem!

There has been so much hype for this place over the years and I wanted so badly to love it but I just don’t get it. I love a local spot, try to support only local restaurants as much as possible, but this just confused me. Why does everyone say it is so good? Is it just nostalgia? You enter into a lively bar area. Looks like any townie bar. Host was lovely - she seated us quickly and was very nice. Decor is dark, low ceilings and looks like it was done decorated by someone’s grandmother once and never touched again. I suppose it’s nostalgia for a moment in time - basement club feel maybe - but it all looks a bit run down. Our server was fine but kind of rushed and we felt like he didn’t listen to us. Menu is quite small but I love a place that knows what they do well- the problem is, it wasn’t done well. French onion soup is…not French onion soup and had a really weird texture and not much flavor. The cheese was in the soup not just on top and it was more like Campbells golden onion soup. It tasted like the onions weren’t cooked down enough. Steak temp was as requested but had no flavor. They are called The Beef but the beef wasn’t anything special. Chicken was swimming in butter and the plates were greasy. Everything needed salt or was super salty. Cocktails were mediocre. The cost was well over $100 for 2 people and we wished that we were happier considering the cost. It just all feels dated in a bad way. I love old school but it has to taste good! Kinda wish we had just gone across the street for good pizza at Paul & Son’s. Likely won’t be back.

Went 6/29/24 5:30. Service was awful. Never got bread. Asked several times. Order 3 soup got2. Asked was told they had to make it. Couples after us got their meals we still not had our appetizers. Waitress stated she has been there 30 years. Yikes. Food was good just waited 2 hrs for it. Crossed off my hometown Binghamton list.

Cute family oriented vibe in a residential neighborhood. The food was OK but not more. Steak tacos: nicely seasoned with lots of coleslaw salad. French Onion Soup: not great. Nothing like the traditional one. It’s more like vegetable soup with a slice of melted cheese on a piece of bread. Salmon: classic. Good. Cooked well.

Ugh. This is one review I regret to write. I had heard the hype for a long time. "You want the best steak in Broome County go to the beef". I blew it off for awhile. My fiance and I live in Endicott, so it's not far for us, but it's a bit out of the way. We also have our local favorites and as much as I like to try new places, we're creatures of habit. Finally this past Tuesday we just said let's go. Let's see what this alleged hidden gem is all about. Man, what a let down. I had such high hopes. From the small setting in a residential neighborhood to the old time feel, I was really excited. Things started out well. We were promptly seated by a friendly waitress. I wish I could remember her name to give her props because she was the one saving grace of our experience. Very attentive and pleasant and she was a hard worker. You could tell she has been there for a long time. She got us our drinks and we both started with french onion soup. It was very good, however very different from what you'd expect. Nothing like traditional french onion. The cheese was shredded and melted in the broth itself, rather than put under a broiler. Nonetheless, it was good. For dinner we decided to get two different entrees and share. So we got a 12 oz NY strip medium with a baked potato and the beans and greens over linguine. The steak was very large and cooked to temperature perfectly. It was a quality cut of beef but there was nothing exciting about it. It was barely seasoned and lacked any flavor whatsoever. For a place simply called "The Beef" you'd think they would nail it. Maybe it was an off night, but I feel that in a traditional steakhouse I shouldn't have to douse my steak with salt and pepper just to make it edible. As for the beans and greens? Same story. Zero flavor, no garlic, no pop. Very disappointing when you're going out to a $100+ dinner. The service and the setting was awesome. I give that 5 stars for sure. But the food? I can think of quite a few other spots within 5 miles I'd rather have dinner at. Really bummed. Lol

Their website is outdated as each menu item is $3-4 more expensive. Since the place is called "The Beef" I ordered a delmonico steak medium-medium rare. I received a well done steak which was tough and dry and for a price of $20+ I expected more. The waitress only came to our table twice to fill our water and bring our food. At this price, the service needs to be better. The dining room was dark, dimmy, and wasn't very quiet (as it is next to the bar) and it was difficult to carry on a conversation. Overall, I left the place hungry and will not return. Texas Roadhouse and Outback are better choices.

Ordered a take out burger with a side and a salad. The burger was disappointing but the salad was good. We were told 15 minutes but it was over 40. Overall I was pretty disappointed but based on other reviews maybe we just caught them on an off night.

If you're not a regular, and by that I mean one of the 60+ age group that frequents this place and are greeted nicely and politely by the bartender and then the maître d'/whatever you call him who doesn't take names or write anything down, then don't bother going to this place. We were completely ignored by the female bartender even when we patiently waited for 10 minutes and then tried to get her attention. Perhaps we were overdressed. I was wearing a coat and dress shirt and my wife was dressed very nicely. Seems the regulars shop at thrift stores. People that literally came in 20 minutes after us were seated before us. Same size party. And if you're thinking it's because they have reservations, no, I called ahead and I was told "first come first serve". And then, I observed the maître d'/guy sitting at their table visiting with them. I guess this place has enough business that it doesn't want to try and encourage any newcomers. I had the 8 ounce filet, my wife at the 4 ounce filet. Both are cooked nicely, nice pieces of meat, but but pretty much flavorless. and nothing I would go back for. Plus they actually ran out of baked potatoes. I mean seriously, and Irish pub/restaurant running out of potatoes. The last time that happened it was called a famine.

My boyfriend and I came here for Valentine’s day. We were very disappointed. He got the prime rib and there was no seasoning at all, just plain and gross. I got some steak which was just ok. Sides were meh, nothing to write home about. I had higher expectations for this place given what I had heard about it before. Don’t waste your time or money. Burger king would’ve been a better Valentines dinner.

My son wanted us to take his girlfriend to a nice dinner to celebrate their 1 year dating anniversary! Since we are in Hazleton and she is in New Milford Pa, we decided to go to Bingham for the day and looked up The Beef, the reviews seemed good for a nice steak dinner! Our server Nichole was amazing! I only gave her 3 stars because I don’t want to drive up the star rating! She deserves 6! The vegetable flatbread was great! The French onion soup tasted old and had lumps from the flour to thicken it! (I make it often, it’s not that hard!) The shrimp ribeye scampi special was even worse, the steak was slimy, not seared at all not seasoned at all and was covered in a scampi sauce that was all lemon and no white wine could be detected! It’s dark and dingy, I think they don’t want anyone to see what the food looks like! Maybe it’s time for a new chef??

Service was beyond poor, seated quick but ignored for 20 mins. Steaks were like rubber, low grade grocery steaks with no taste. Silverware was dirty. Would not recommend

I tried to call the restaurant today because I have a party of seven I was going to bring in for dinner this evening, to see if they did reseverations. First of all, it took about an hour for them too pick up and when they did, the man I spoke to was extremely rude. He stated they don't do reservations, which is fine, but when I asked if I would be okay to bring in a large party he was very dismissive of me, without even an apology that he couldn't give more information, he just seemed like he was rushing too get off the phone. If this is how I am to be treated with bringing in a prospective large dinner bill for them, then I could only imagine how they would treat us when we got there. So as a result I am taking my business elsewhere.

Even though in the menu it said that soup and one side was included in the dinners, we were charged extra for them. When asked about this, the waitress told us that the restaurant just overcharges some things. Not only that, we were treated horribly, the waitresses literally threw our drinks and bread to the table. Maybe if you are a regular customer, they treat you like a human being, but otherwise do not come to this place. Even the food is subpar ( if you can call unseasoned supermarket meat swimming in blood food), nevermind the horrendous service

I DO NOT recommend this place. We went with high hopes after reading all the positive reviews. We were blown away when the unthinkable happened...My son ordered a steak burger and the meat was rancid. It smelled so bad and taste like rotten meat. I've never been out to eat and was served such obviously spoiled meat. There's just no excusing that!

I was so excited to finally dine here being a 30 year Binghamtonian. I was sorely disappointed. It is a very rustic dim lit atmosphere that smelled like gym socks, mold and mildew. Food was expensive and low quality. If I am paying those kind of prices, similar to Remlik's, they'd better deliver. I do not understand where the highly rated reviews are coming from. The food tasted off, the meat tasted like nail polish remover smells, the potatoes were under done, and the ice in the ice water tasted like everything in the freezer. I finished my meal to give a thorough review. I could've made the same food at home organic for about $3 and I paid $11 plus tip and tax. The salt was fantastic. Save your money and go to Remlik's.

Nothing is made fresh. French onion soup was made with packaged minced onion flakes; house made potato fries were just baked potatoes cut in soggy slices. The food tastes just like the atmosphere - stale.

Absolutely the worst experience in my life. Man working, extremely rude. Walked out door right back in as if were missing part oforder, potaties, $6.00 not leaving them behind. He had the audacity to say we could have eaten them? He accused us of giving him hard time earlier when ordered. We walked in very nicely and had questions on menu. These prices you want to know what your getting. He had attitude and no answers. Paid with debit card yet he couldnt provide a receipt $29.00 order. I could continue, asked if he was boss or owner! So much more could be said. I will be teaching out to the owner. I wouldnt reccomend the place. One person working on Friday night, doesnt know the menu. Addresses customers like we would take something for NOTHING. How dare he! Food was cold. Pricey NASTY NASTY cold cheeseburger! As I stated I just want the food we paid for. Hes rude, touching face and cooking food. No glove touching raw meat Freezing cold wouldn't sit if employee wasnt rude as to cold. Restroom disaster. If he didnt take so long that steak sandwich wasnt so mushy soggy, past point of being edible by time done doing with him. It looked like it might be good. Only positive thing to say.

My friend got the filet mignon sandwich. It was bun, meat and bun. On what planet does that count as a sandwich. That is steak and bread. I felt so bad I paid for his meal. Also the au poivre sauce is not sauce they tried to feed me mustard gravy. I dont even know if there was pepper in there.

This was one of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at. I ordered wine, it tasted very old. I asked to try the other brand, equally awful. I said I didn't want the wine and asked for a mixed drink instead. No problem. We each ordered French onion soup. It was as if it was made with dried minced onion and was gelatinous in texture. Not good. I ordered an 8oz demonico while my partner ordered the prime rib. Both were poorly seasoned, we make better steaks at home. I was shocked to see the bill of $115! They made me pay for the wine I didn't drink and, well it was just am awful meal. Not to mention it wasn't a very clean restaurant. I suggest finding a franchise steakhouse in lieu of this disaster.

There are roaches as i seen one crawling on the floor, I have seen more then a few with my own eyes, the servers are a bit lazy as usual, the food is distasteful for the love of God whoever is running the kitchen needs to be replaced with someone else, so far the soups have changed so much and I can tell it's just not the same as before, like when I used come, I stopped by yesterday for something quick and warming since it's chilly out and it was disappointing, this place has definitely lost its touch. It's sad to see it's being run downhill.

Been here multiple times. Service has unfortunately gone down hill substantially. Food wasnt as good as it was. Tonight, I was told 15-20 Minutes. Another couple was sat immediately upon egressing through the door, after we had already waited a solid 15 minutes. My daughter was hungry and instead of seating us, they sat them. They dont take reservations, so im absolutely confused and pissed off as to why, my mother, daughter and myself wait while. Meanwhile, someone can jump in front of us, almost waiting 20 minutes. Absolutely, one if the most embarrassing and awful service experience Ive experienced in a while. Steaks are usually overcooked, especially if you prefer rare or mid-rare. Id expect better from a neighborhood restaurant that people talk so highly of… I have no idea why. Id give negative stars if I could . Go to Cacciatores or outback if you want a good steak. This place is 🗑️

do not ever come to the beef especially if you're a young college student or if you're a person who wants good service. when we came here we ordered the dinner entree (which is not cheap) it stated that it comes with a side and a soup. we confirmed with our waitress (emma) that there was no upcharge for the french onion soup sub and she confirmed that there was a dollar upcharge only for the french onion gratin. we also ordered the shrimp scampi (which is expected to come over noodles) and our waitress proceeded to ask if we wanted that over noodles or rice. we then asked for a side of roasted mushrooms and a soup with that. when the check comes we see there is a FIVE dollar charge for the mushrooms that we thought were a side. we nicely asked out waitress and she told us that the linguini was the side -- so the 28 dollar price tag for the shrimp scampi was for the 5 shrimps. the waitress did not tell us that the mushrooms were an additional charge and basic logic would have us assume that when she said "over noodles or rice" meant it came with the dish. there was also a one dollar upcharge for each soup. when we asked her she literally admitted she made a mistake and then said and I quote: "i made a mistake. what do you want me to do about it? do you want me to comp it" it was as simple as a two dollar comp. we were unhappy about the FIVE dollar mushrooms but we were gonna eat the cost. but the attitude of the staff was shocking as she was talking about us within earshot of the bathroom (thank you for that btw) she then disappeared and had another staff handle our check who also told us "there's upcharges for stuff at every restaurant" that's totally fine but it's basic expectation to make it clear what those costs are otherwise it's highway robbery. it's not that we can't afford the 5 dollars or two dollars but it's about basic respect and principle.
