Great food, I got banana pudding, collard greens, mac & cheese chicken, lemonade. It was all good food and price ain’t too bad, it’s more like a panda express/where they got the food ready in aluminum trays, but it’s good food.
Really nice environment. I purchased food here for my husband last week. He didn’t like it that much because he said it was salty. I didnt get a chance to try them out yet for myself. But i will. The food looked good tho.
I’m from Atlanta and wanted some good food so I found this restaurant on google and BABY them folks really cooking up in there! Everything was seasoned well. Ppl baked chicken usually be bland but not theirs and the Mac n cheese had plenty different cheeses taste like, everything was delicious. Better than any soul food restaurant I’ve tasted in my own city! I HAD to come leave a review so they would know I really enjoyed my plate and it was worth the price bc I’ve paid more for other places disgusting soul food lol
Hands down best brunch ever. Sundays only! Make time. You won't regret it. If I were to type out all the good things I could say, it would take an entire page! Absolutely outstanding, fair price, excellent service, and better food than you grandma cooks for Thanksgiving. Incredible staff, even better food. Just across from the Alabama Theater on the corner of 17th and 3rd. Amazing hidden gem. Don't forget to try the peach iced tea!
Best soul food in Birmingham! White table cloth service! The staff is super friendly and they keep your beverages filled. Only open on Sundays for dine in or take out. I'm usually not a buffet fan BUT THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL BUFFET! Everything I've tasted is great......baked chicken, fried pork chops, THE MEATLOAF🙌🏾🙌🏾 and a pork pot with everything that you could imagine eating from the pig(feet, ears)! They have a large variety of veggies, hot & cold. The desserts are great too! The homemade peach cobbler is amazing! Lots of desserts to choose from. Small restaurant inside with outdoor seating availability too. I'll say this, wait for a table to clear so that you can try a little bit of everything😁
This is worth the money. Everything was hot and had great favor. The staff was really nice. For $18 per person you can pick from at least 5 different meats, 8 hot vegetables, 6 cold salads and 5 deserts and this includes your drink with unlimited re-fills. There is in-side and out-side seating. Only open on Sunday.
AMAZING FOOD. PERIOD. Quaint little Sunday buffet hosted by a group of seriously talented ladies! Chicken, pork chops, roast (the kind they slice for you), vegetables that your grandmother would envy, and the desserts...just save some room, you will not be disappointed. Great servers, friendly locals, all you can eat for $18.
All was good (baked chicken, fried chicken, greens, dressing, cabbage, creamed corn, yams) but the mac&cheese could have used a little more milk, salt & pepper, and cheese, and browned longer in the oven. Otherwise, good but could step up with improving on a staple like mac&cheese. One last note, only got a chance to try the pound cake—looked and tasted dry but the flavor was hitting, but there are too many good bakers in Bham (K&J and East of Mississippi) for this not to be up to par. Will definitely visit again since the two things mentioned are small negatives in the overall experience.
The food was very good & southern home flavored with a wide variety of choices from entrees to desserts. Only downside is the facility is too small & it was inconvenient due to bumping into other diners or staff to get to/around the buffet line. The price is higher than any other home cooking buffet but the experience and the food was worth it. The staff were alert & attentive without being intrusive. Bathrooms were clean & no offensive odors.
Blackeye peas good, corn muffins good, greens had no meat in them and no flavor so I was disappointed, the baked chicken was cooked good but overly seasoned with salt or season salt my blood pressure definitely went up. And dressing did not taste like dressing, I've never tasted dressing so unflavored. I truly was disappointed especially with it being my first time.
Came by on a Sunday.. the inside where you order your food is very small, hot, and cramped. Anyways, I can’t remember if a menu was posted inside but I didn’t know what was on the menu until I got in front of the hot bar to look. Speaking of hot bar, I got my food to go and ate some of it in the car and it was more so lukewarm not actually hot, which was disappointing. Service was slow, it could’ve been because people were ordering multiple plates per order but the line didn’t move fast at all. I had to move every time the door was open until a few people ahead of me moved along, again really cramped inside but hey, as a small business you have to get what you can afford, it is what it is. I got baked chicken which came with two sides and a 3 veggie plate and my total was about $29.00. Mac and Cheese was an absolute no, it was watery and smelled funny and it just didn’t taste good. Baked chicken was good and so was the dressing and yams. Broccoli and cheese casserole was just okay; Didn’t care for the type of rice used and wished the broccoli was cut up. The lady that fixed my food was nice. Cashier didn’t seem like she wanted to be there lol. I had two plates, asked for silverware, and she gave me one packet ?? Overall experience 3/5.
The first time I ate here everything from the service and the food was five stars. My second experience not as great. I traveled 45 minutes and the service was mediocre as I was told they would cook fresh chicken and they did and I still was served cold chicken that was not tasty at all. The greens and dressings were excellent. I may not drive 45 minutes again for the food served. If I am in the vicinity I would eat here again as it is a black owned establishment and I’m all about supporting black owned businesses. When you serve customers you never know there story the distance they traveled or the reasoning behind wanting to get a good cooked meal. We have to treat each other with love and I believe this place serve with love.
I will admit I'm kinda claustrophobic. I don't like to be crowded in, especially when eating. That's exactly what happens when you eat here. It's a small building with a tight area for selecting your food and you will bump into others easily. The food was good; nothing to write home about though. Parking is rough at peak times. I like their catering service and have eaten from them on several occasions through my work. As for the restaurant, not sure I will return due to the tightness of the place.
Overall the food didn’t have much flavor. The bread was made from water alone and it had flies on it when I think about soulful, memories and flavor feel my mouth and it reminds me of the good old days this didn’t scratch the service I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone the flies alone turned me off
Sweet potatoes were hard in the middle. Greens taste like canned greens with sugar added. Mac and cheese was definitely not made with real cheese just taste starchy and milky with a sheet of cheese baked on top. Beans, I don’t think I have to say much, it’s clear to see their condition. The services was not bad just dry and short. The location is dark and gloomy inside and set up so weird but that’s my opinion. Others love it here. I have been here before, pre Coronavirus 2020. Today was just AWFUL and this cost me $14 no drink or water . Highly disappointed…
We stopped at this place passing through Birmingham on a Sunday. Staff wasn't friendly. The older lady was rushing you to pick something out. I asked about some of the food options and didn't say nothing but continued to put food on the plate. Meat loaf was from the grocery store pre made and wasn't good. Fake meat. My wife got the roast with gravy and it was pre made as well from the grocery store. Gave us a little scoop of dressing and macaroni. Wasn't worth the pay and they didn't deserve a tip or good review. Soul food you expect food from scratch and from the heart. This wasn't it.
Coming from up north thinking I was going to get some bomb soul food this food was disappointing. Nothing was hot, meatloaf like it came from the frozen section at a grocery store, dressing was dry, cornbread must have sat out for days. didnt feel welcomed. Young girl up front acted like somebody was forcing her to be there... I love supporting my ppl but y'all need to fix y'all selves up.
I like to patronize local restaurants and businesses in the city so Sunday I decided on Ga Briella’s. When myself and my mom walked in the guy fixing plates looked at us like we had the plague or something no greeting no nothing. There was a young lady there that did come from the dining area ( looked as if she was closing out a tab) and she did greet us but didn’t say “I’ll be with you in a min” or nothing. After being there for about 5 mins we left. If you want people to support your business the least you can do is make them feel welcomed.
