Had a superb meal here for a friend’s 60th birthday. We had the 10 course taster menu. The waiting staff explained every course as it came out, sometimes difficult to hear them though as they mumbled or had a strong accent. They were very attentive but not overly so. A lovely place with lovely food but quite expensive. 6 people, 10 course taster, 2 bottles of wine, 3 gin and tonics, 2 cognacs and around 20 beers, bill was nearly £1700.
Another amazing visit to Opheem today. Outstanding from start to end. Incredible service from the moment we stepped foot in the front door until the moment we left. The food was just superb, every course was a masterclass in flavor and textures and the service. was impossible to fault. Congratulations on the 2nd Star, a lot of hard work & dedication to have achieved that accolade. Thank you made my birthday truly memorable 👏👏👏👏👏
I was not sure what to expect from Indian fine dining. I was very surprised and throughly impressed with the food. The flavors were amazing and there was a good spicy kick which I didn’t expect. We had the 10 course tasting. Can’t wait to go back. The service was excellent. Highly recommend to anyone.
I would like to say that the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The staff work with a smile, and because my family also runs a restaurant business, I give this restaurant a 9+ out of 10! Thank you very much! We were just passing through Birmingham, and thank you again for such great service and day. All the best.
Opheem has an amazing and talented team of chefs. Each dish came with a unique experience and taste palette, not one repeated itself. We enjoyed all of our courses which were served in good time and we hope to return one day. We thought the range of courses would be very filling but they were the perfect amount of food.
The most decadent evening with outstanding attention to detail from the ambiance in the inviting lounge where our taste buds were tantalised with amazing appetisers, then moving on to the dining room where we indulged in 5 courses of pure delight with layered flavours that aroused the senses. The atmosphere was relaxed with perfect precision in the service from the wonderful staff and chefs. We completed the evening with a memorable picture with the master chef himself Aktar. Definitely one of my top 5 dining experiences in the world……..Extremely well done Opheem team, we will be back! Billy & Hardy
WOW. We were excited about visiting Opheem but nothing quite prepared us for what has been one of, if not the best meal out we’ve ever had. Previous Michelin starred experiences have been a bit pretentious and stuffy, but the staff at Opheem are exceptional; professional and incredibly knowledgeable whilst being able to have a human conversation and a laugh with them. Exceptionally attentive without being intrusive. The food, is as you’d expect and so much more. Snacks that will make you wonder how they pack so much flavour into such small morsels, and the things they can do with carrots should be illegal- definitely the stand out dish from the Tasting menu. But honestly, every course was a delight, and we didn’t want it to end! We will be returning, without a shadow of a doubt. Hats off to the team!
Amazing experience all round. A party of 4, we had the 10 course tasting menu with wine flight; all agreed it was the best tasting menu we ever had. It was full of gastronomical surprises with the infusion of delicately infused Indian flavours… just beautiful. The service, presentation and atmosphere was top class all round; we were even honoured to meet Aktar Islam who presented one of our dishes. If you’re looking for something truly special then this is the place!
We went as a couple and travelled into the City centre by train to celebrate a special birthday. It was incredible from start to finish. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable but not intrusive. It started with relaxing drinks in the lounge inc treats followed by our 10 course taster menu in the restaurant and then further coffee and treats in the lounge to end our wonderful experience. It was great to see the chefs busy at work in the open kitchen and Aktar Islam actually came to your table with many of the courses personally and chatted with diners. The restaurant was full even on a lunchtime so you 100% need to book well in advance. We had a £100 voucher which softened the blow slightly but it is quite costly to dine here. My husband has eaten in many fine restaurants around the world but this one shone out for him as 'one' if not 'the' best. We'll be back for my Sisters 60th for sure ! Thankyou Opheem for a truly wonderful dining experience, one we will always remember.
What an experience; an entire journey that brings a smile to your face and laughter amongst the crowd. I’ve been wanting to dine here for a few years but never managed to get a reservation on a weekend so last year I booked it a year in advance for a birthday treat. Wasn’t expecting the experience to last so long I was tired by the end of it as I travelled all the way from Dewsbury. From a young age I’d watch Master Chef and The Great British Menu with my dad. I have so many memories of the show and the chef - Akhtar Islam. When I first saw him I was fan girling over him and was so excited. He came over and shook our hand at the end. I was too shy to say anything at the time but I was certainly amazed by the encapsulated experience; exceeded my expectations. As we eat halal we can’t always eat meat or poultry in fine dining spots or Michelin for that matter. And most of the dishes have a non-halal ingredient in them that we can’t eat. The flavours are not something we’re used to either. So eating something that is familiar and still blows our minds was such a treat, being able to experience a halal restaurant ran by a Muslim, serving all halal meats on the menu is truly amazing! I know other establishments can cater for halal – they usually have a partial halal menu. But from a previous Michelin experience I’m not sure it would be up to the same standard. It’s nice to be able to try food that is similar palette wise from a south Asian point of view. Bold claim, but I would urge other muslims/south Asians to go as you won’t experience anything like this elsewhere. My parents are from Bangladesh, so I felt super proud of what he has accomplished and tasting familiar flavours and ingredients in such a progressive and gastronomical way was really magical. Of course the experience comes at a price, with a higher cost you certainly want to be wowed. As my best friend’s husband quoted - he definitely wants to eat one thing that made him think it’s the best thing he ever put in his mouth. Which of course we all felt. The array of amuse bouche literally blew our minds, how can one encapsulate such flavour into tiny morsels. It was flavour, texture and visual explosions. What a way to begin an evening. Genius!! Creative, explosive and unique menu. The vibe, the mood lighting, interior, cutlery, crockery, glasses, the staff, the lounge, open kitchen, the cleanliness, the toilets. Everything was so great. The attention to detail was on point. The only thing I would say is that the non-alcoholic mocktails could have had more variety, my fave was the watermelon one but the ginger and elderflower was just OK. I also felt for the dessert the (REWANDCHINI), the ice cream was just OK. I thought it could be creamier and packed with more flavour. It did taste like falooda and I’m sure that’s where the inspiration came from but I think a creamier ice cream would have made the dish. The pistachio fudge in that dessert dish was amazing though. Having said that every dish was texturally, visually and tastefully satisfying. But some dishes were nicer than others. Finally we all felt when the chefs would serve our dishes not all of the chefs waited till they served and completed our dishes to speak about the dish. This took away from the final plating experience. It was distracting and we weren’t able to focus on what they’d say about the dish so I wish they would all finish the plating then speak about the dish. I know things are fast paced and it can be hectic in the kitchen but I do feel this would really elevate the experience. Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner, will hope to see you all again! Super inspiring!
We had an excellent meal here at the weekend. We went for the ten course tasting menu and it was absolutely stunning. Some of our favourite dishes were the mint chocolate dessert and the aloo tuk. Every dish was seasoned perfectly and we really enjoyed the attentive but laid back style of service. We particularly enjoyed our snacks in the lounge before the meal and enjoyed going back there at the end. An excellent restaurant. We travelled from Essex and weren't disappointed. Thank you 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Having read a review in a well known UK national Sunday paper, it had taken over 5 months to get a table on a Saturday, such is the popularity of this restaurant. From the phone call 2 days before to confirm the booking through to the snacks at the end of our 5 taster lunch the experience was exquisite. Food, staff, service, drinks, ambience and layout just superb. A first class dining treat with an Asian twist, we were even served one course by the owner and got the opportunity to talk to him about what remains one of our best go to restaurants in Birmingham. Excellent!
Honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The food is well worthy of its 2 Michelin stars (personally the service is more like 1, but you’re here for the food). The food, from the ample snacks in the lounge, to the 87 courses you have on their tasting menu, every single morsel is immaculate and full of flavours, layers, complexity and texture. It’s as close to a perfect meal I’ve ever had. Book it. You will not regret going!
I had the pleasure of dining here for my birthday and what an extraordinary culinary experience it was. I cannot fault one dish I was served, the attention to detail and the presentation/taste was out of this world. The staff are extremely attentive and helpful when explaining the menu; however I genuinely have no words for the food as it’s truly indescribable… the combination of flavours, textures and taste was just phenomenal. Left here feeling truly content and satisfied, I highly recommend visiting on an empty stomach… what an amazing 2* Michelin dining experience!
What a fantastic experience. Flavours were immense! We loved the concept of sitting in the lounge area, having dinner in the dining room then back to the lounge area to finish. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were very friendly. The standouts were the potato dish and the meringue with steak tartare bite. The lamb main compared to other dishes had the least ‘punch’ of flavour but was tender and perfectly cooked. Food wasn’t too spicy. We felt the 5 course was just enough and great value for money. Highly recommend!!
One of the best Michelin star restaurant experience. The experience was fantastic, the service was elegant and precise and the food was delicate and delicious. One slight issue I would like to raise, the seating in the lounge isn't comfortable and neither was the dining area chair too... apart from that everything else was top class. I'll definitely be coming again with more family member for them to try it themselves.
An exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The food at Opheem is absolutely outstanding – every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavour, with a real sense of creativity and attention to detail. The service was impeccable - knowledgeable, kind and perfectly paced without feeling intrusive. The attention to detail really stood out – from a handwritten congratulations card to personalised menus with our names on them which made the experience feel extra special. The atmosphere felt special yet relaxed, making it ideal for a celebration or a memorable evening out. Easily one of the best meals I’ve had and well deserving of its reputation. I would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.
We have wanted to return to Opheem for a while and even more so since it was awarded 2 michelin stars. Right from booking we knew it was going to be excellent. Greeted at the door and shown into the lounge bar area. We had already chosen the 10 course tasting menu. For drinks I went for the saffron beer produced in Cornwall, Other half asked the sommelier to recommend a wine and every glass he poured was outstanding throughout the meal. Snacks were brought to us in the bar, 5 in total ( see photos) and everyone was packed with so much flavour and perfectly balanced too. We were taken to our table in the restaurant with a great view of the kitchen & pass. The first course "pakora" shiso leaf & chutneys was the Best version of the traditional snack I have ever eaten. Second course of Sand carrot, a dish packed with flavour & textures beautifully balanced. Orkney Scallop course, one of my all time favourite ingredients, was next and this was special and one of the Best I have tasted, theres been a few this year! Aloo Tuk full of surprises as I tasted each spoonful, I am not usually a fan of indian potato dishes but I could eat this one everyday for the rest of my life. Flavour & texture perfection. A palette cleanser came next bright not just in colour but also flavour too preparing us for the next course. Fish course - Halibut which showed serious culinary skill with how it was delicately cooked and presented with the garnish of satisfy & squash. The sauce light, fruity & sauce perfectly bakanced with spices. Bread for me is a really important part off any meal and the timing of this was perfect at this stage of a tasting menu. This sweet & salty milk loaf and its accompaniments confirmed why I believe it has to be part of a meal. Venison, dumpling & kebab loin perfectly cooked, dumpling skilled preparation and cooking & kebab packed with flavour the sauce complimenting the meat exactly as it should. Deserts started with Blackberry, cardamom & ginger again perfectly executed flavours, skillfully prepared & presented. The next dish of apple was outstanding in every aspect. Final dessert of "After Eight" brought back so many happy memories it is exactly what eating out should do. Moving back into the lounge bar for our petit fours and after dinner drink we were presented with 5 sweet snacks ( see photos) these again were perfection and a perfect end to our meal. Although we couldn't finish without one last drink. I chose Red Breast barrel aged whisky. The whole experience was exceptional culinary skill, cooking at the peak of its craft, very much worth the special journey and for me worthy of a third Michelin star.
What can I say? We've eaten in some wonderful restaurants over the years and been to several Michelin Starred restaurants, but this was top notch. From the moment we entered into Opheem we were waited on hand and foot. The staff went above and beyond in ensuring our experience was amazing from start to finish. From the cocktails and "snacks" on arrival to the 10 course taster menu and wine pairing, everything was sublime. Aktar Islam was working alongside his staff and made an effort to speak with his guests. Even his son worked alongside him and eloquently described the food we were eating. The sommelier we had was lovely, as were all the staff. Aktar signed our menus and was happy to have a photo with us. All in all, this was an experience we will remember forever. It is not cheap by any means, but you are paying for exquisite food, wine and an experience you'll never forget. No wonder Opheem has 2 Michelin Stars.
Opheem – Modern Indian Elegance with Michelin-Level Precision Opheem delivers the kind of dining experience where every detail — from the textures on the plate to the lighting in the room — feels deeply intentional. A modern, plush dining room sets the tone: dark, stylish, and quietly confident, the kind of space where you know the meal will be thoughtful long before the first course arrives. Across the menu, the kitchen leans into Indian flavours without ever being confined by traditional forms. There’s a clear technical backbone to every element — sauces placed with micro-precision, textures contrasting beautifully, and plating that borders on fine art. Drinks The beverage programme stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the food. Cocktails are crafted with the same contemporary Indian lens, striking a balance between familiarity and inventive flair. The wine pairing (if chosen) is thoughtful, often surprising, and consistently elevates the dishes rather than overshadowing them. Service & Ambience Service is Michelin-standard: attentive without hovering, informed without being rehearsed, and timed to the rhythm of the meal rather than a script. The plush surrounds, warm lighting, and calm pacing create an atmosphere where the evening feels indulgent but not formal to the point of stiffness. Verdict Opheem absolutely earns its Michelin recognition. It stands as a benchmark for modern Indian cuisine — not merely “elevating” it, but reimagining it with clarity, creativity, and a strong sense of identity. Perfect for: special occasions, food-driven trips, gastronomic explorers, or anyone who loves seeing classic flavours reinterpreted with technical brilliance. Dish of the day for me The scallops Bar starter, Mango Tuille
Absolutely amazing 2 star Michelin restaurant!!! Highly recommended. Outstanding service, all staff very polite, friendly and professional. We celebrated my birthday and 25th anniversary, the menu was personalised to our individual requirements. Impeccable presentation of each item on the tasting menu. The chef came to speak with us at the table. Perfect place for a special occasion.
Where do I start? You are greeted and taken into the very comfortable lounge where very attentive/ interested staff create a lovely environment where absolutely delicious superb amuse bouche are presented in a selection of beautifully crafted and stunning snacks. The taster menu of ten courses was a succession of varied taste sensations, that weren’t so strong that they masked your ability to discern individual flavours. It would be disingenuous to choose a favourite, one of the joys was that the creator served you the dish themselves and were clearly very committed to their craft. After now eating at venues that between them have had 135 Michelin stars this is unquestionably one of the best. The whole experience was almost 4 hours of gastronomic heaven. My only marginal disappointment was not meeting Aktar, but I had to accept that as the Oval had invited him to cook for the Indian cricket team, I guess I wasn’t ever going to see him! I strongly recommend a visit as it’s a truly astonishingly exceptional experience. Toilets spotless and beautifully presented. Every staff member is informative and engages with customers.
Opheem is amazing! It truly is! The service is impeccable. The drinks are delicious. The food is perfect. I had wanted to visit for a long time and it did not disappoint. We went for an a la carte 3 course lunch and on top of this there were some snacks provided in the lounge before you are seated in the restaurant. The snacks were incredible, as was the lunch! In the resturant, the sommelier was very friendly and knowledgeable - chatting to us about the up coming English sparkling wines. After lunch we returned to the lounge for petit fours - which like the rest of the food we had, were stunning, and paired these with a tasty cocktail. There are some classics (negroni, old fashioned - went down well after lunch!) and also some different cocktails (i triend one featuring chocolate wine and loved it). Then it was time to leave, all in i think our lunch experience took around 2 to 2 and a half hours.... and although I was perfectly full i didn't want to leave as I wanted to stay and try everything!
We had the 5-course tasting menu at Opheem in Birmingham, and honestly, it was outstanding from start to finish. Every dish was packed with flavour, beautifully presented. The service was just as impressive, very professional and we didn’t feel rushed. It was one of those meals you simply didn’t want to end. The wine recommendations were spot on, We finished the evening in the bar with indian sweets perfect end to a perfect night. Highly recommend Opheem to anyone who wants a world-class dining experience in Birmingham.
Phenomenal restaurant - it’s a work of art really, the best Michelin restaurant I have ate in, it’s no surprise it’s 2 stars! Gorgeous interiors and mood lighting, you are taken into a lovely lounge area for a few starters and drinks before commencing to the main restaurant area! Both areas have visibility of the chefs and kitchen/preparation area which is fascinating to watch whilst eating! We did the 10-courses and I highly recommend it! So many beautiful and delicious dishes - I have no idea how they do it! Not a single disappointing dish on the menu! Make sure you come here starving as there’s so much food and portions are generous for fine dining! Beautiful puddings - the chocolates were delicious! I love the fusion of flavours and each dish being a dedicating to different parts of the Middle East and East Asia - just love it! Love this Indian restaurant! Highly recommend to try this place at least once in your life! Shoutout to the waiters Ezequiel and Shakira - they were both brilliant and chatty!
This is literally our favorite restaurant we ever visited in Europe and the UK. Been coming here since 2021 and it seems they only way is up; we were away for about 6 months and our favorite dishes were still there (thank God) and the newly added dishes are amazing. The staff is very friendly and remember you, we always have our favorite table and they give you an amazing night. Wouldn’t be surprised they will soon get their third star… Opheem, the pride of Birmingham!
You can understand why this a double Michelin star restaurant when you visit. Service is friendly from all staff and the food really does live-up to and exceed expectations. We went for the 10-course tatsing menu which was preceded by some tasty snacks in the lounge area. The menu itself has a nice amount of variation in it and had some really tasty dishes: the badami korma and aloo tuk were particular favourites of mine and my partner loved the after eight style dessert. It’s pricey but if you enjoy your food then it’s worth it for a special treat.
Wow! From the warm welcome to the fond farewell, every aspect of our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. The food itself was exquisite, but it was truly elevated by the passionate staff. Their clear explanations of the menu and wine pairings showcased their knowledge and made us feel genuinely welcome.
Four of us had a lunchtime Birthday celebration. Ten course tasting menu £125 was an experience rather than just a meal. Allow at least three hours! Food as you might expect was very innovative with an Asian twist. Portions a decent size. You will not leave hungry. Dishes included scallops, sea bass, cod, lamb, venison plus the vegetable dishes which were equally as good. Staff are great, you feel relaxed and Aktar came to our table twice to discuss the dish being served. A great touch, as was the hand written Birthday card. Some courses at the beginning & end are served in the lounge. Aktar comes over as a thoroughly decent person. It must be hard maintaining this standard. The place was pretty much full, which creates a great ambience There is some parking outside including disabled spaces
Arrived at this beautiful restaurant as a group of 5 for their 10 course vegetarian private dining experience. They walked us to the lounge which was absolutely stunning! Felt very cosy, were offered drinks whilst they served some starters. Staff were very polite and attentive, explained each dish very well too. Unfortunately did not manage to get photos of the starters but they were all very tasty! We then went upstairs to their private dining area, which was very well presented and away from busier areas. Each dish was very well presented and well explained, waiters made a lot of personal touches like addressing us by our names, topping up water, recommending wines etc. Was such a wonderful experience that we all throughly enjoyed. As the evening went on we were getting very full, but each course did not disappoint and all were consistent! Would definitely come again and recommend to anyone wanting to learn more about Indian cuisine. Only issue we did have was finding parking, lots of double yellows around!
A wonderful three course lunch at Opheem, with additional unexpected snacks and treats, where service was very attentive but by no means intrusive. Vegetarian dietary requirements were catered for with each course being carefully explained. The food and drink served was incredible, just a couple of things weren't to our taste. My first fine dining experience which I'll always remember.
I have had the pleasure of dining at Opheem multiple times now and each time I am even more amazed at how extraordinary the food is. The whole dining experience is just magical. I must give special thanks to Stephen, who provides us with our wine flight when we visit. What an absolute gem, he always goes above and beyond to ensure our evening is a night to remember. What a wonderful asset to the team, always a pleasure to see him.
Wow, what an amazing experience. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was impeccable. We had the 10 course tasting menu and 4 “snacks” in the bar, which was all included. To say we were full to bursting at the end is an understatement. No wonder this restaurant has 2 Michelin stars. It’s a must try if you’re in Birmingham. Thank you Aktar Islam and all your amazing staff.
What an amazing experience. Every little detail was thought through. Food looked and tasted amazing!! One of my favorites was the potato 5 ways and the lamb rib. Def go hungry as towards the end I was struggling. They look tiny but they add so many lovely little extras. Will 100% recommend. Service was amazing and staff lovely and knowledgeable.
Fab food and vibes!! Exquisite flavours and food that was very aesthetically presented!! Staff were all fantastic with their hospitality ! Massive shoutout to Stefan the sommelier who was, not only, incredibly knowledgeable + made some lovely recommendations with wine; but also, super fun and made Opheem an experience to remember!!
Thank you so much for the most amazing night at your restaurant last night. The whole experience was unreal. I was mesmerised by how your chefs work, the kitchen was so calm collective and all of your staff including the chefs were immaculate, the skill of being able to deliver food of this standard in such a beautiful control manner blows my mind it’s beyond talented thank you again for the most wonderful night and the most incredible food I’ve experienced 🫶🏽🙏🏽
I had the pleasure of celebrating my sister's 30th birthday at Opheem in Birmingham, and it was truly a remarkable experience. The private room added a special touch to the occasion, and the food was nothing short of incredible. Each course was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with flavor and creativity. The service was both friendly and exceptionally attentive, making us feel like valued guests throughout the evening. Opheem is a Michelin-starred gem that exceeded our expectations and made my sister's milestone birthday unforgettable. Highly recommend!
I've never really fancied trying a fine dining restaurant for a number of reasons. 1 the cost of these places, 2 always worried that I wouldn't be full at the end. 3. Actually getting a reservation. It was £125 for a 10 course tasting menu and it was worth every penny. The food was outstanding in every aspect. The look, flavours and textures were unbelievable. This is my first experience with fine dining and I don't think it will be my last. I'm normally the type of guy that orders the biggest items on the menu to make sure I'm full. I had concerns I would still be hungry after seeing images of the small plates that are associated with fine dinning. This was not the case at all just the right amount of food for even a large eater like my self. I would return to this place in a heart beat. 11 out of 10
One of the best experiences we've ever had. From the moment we sat down to moment we left it was truly special. The staff were unreal, extremely friendly and their service was exceptional. They all worked in synchronisation. We had the vegetarian tasting menu and the food was great, so tasty and extremely well presented. The wine pairing is a must, it has genuinely been well thought out. Shout out to Alice who smashed it from the get go, really looked after us from start to the end. Well done team we'll definitely be back and with more people.
10/10 experience i would say. Personally being a food enthusiast from India, the chef's each take on different states of India was on point and inspiring. He even had a Kerala inspired dish on the menu which was a pleasant surprise as that's where I am from.
Went too ophem other night and it was simply exquisite. From the moment we sat down we were bombarded with little snacks that were so tasty and fresh. Then into the main restaurant the delights just kept coming .The chefs came out and explained a few dishes which was a nice touch .Very expensive but if you want lovely food and leave stuffed then this is a must visit
We actually dined here November 2022 so writing from memory but some fantastic memories of the most delicious food I've had! Started in the lounge which was wonderful with the funny waiter who brought delicious little starters. In the main dining area you're able to watch the magic in open kitchen and we were pleasantly surprised the man himself Aktar brought over a couple of the dishes to the tables. We finished in the lounge again with the tastiest little sweet treats. The service was impeccable throughout and Opheem absolutely deserves its Michelin star.
Have wanted to go for years but was quite expensive so had to save. It really didn’t disappoint I loved every minute of it.
There are not enough superlatives to describe Opheem. Elegance personified, personable, the food and wine is beyond compare. Every course of the 10 course menu never failed, getting better as we made our way through the journey. Aktar chatted with my wife and I, explaining the concepts and culture of this fabulous restaurant. Without hesitation, we will be returning. Amazing.
Absolutely amazing. Really special tasting menu, fantastic presentation, flavours, pacing, service. Beautiful decor and incredible staff. Well deserving of its stars, we had a phenomenal evening, the time just flew by. Loved how we started and ended in the lounge and we were all absolutely stuffed by the end. Perfection!
If you opt for the 10 course tasting menu - make sure you're hungry. You begin at the bar where you are served 4/5 amuse bouche and relax. About half an hour later then led to be seated in the main restaurant where you can view the chefs working their magic. Dishes and service was exemplary. Would recommend for special occasions
Exceptional food well deserving of the two Michelin stars , every course of the ten course tasting menu delivers layer upon layer of flavour , texture and surprise . My personal favourite being the scallops Service was exceptional and a great wine menu too Beautiful snacks in the lounge (my favourite being the steak tartare )before going through to the dining room to enjoy the ten courses following by petite fours being served again in the lounge We will definitely be back again and would highly recommend Thank you team Opheem for a truly wonderful experience xx❤️
This was the famous Opheem in Birmingham. We managed to get a table for 4 with only a week to go. It was from 17:30 on a Thursday. Exactly, who goes out to eat at 17:30 on a Thursday. We were at the restaurant for over 5 hours. That wasn't because the service was bad, quite the contrary. It was the experience of a ten course tasting menu and the service and conversation which meant we were there that long. You will see from the pics that the presentation was amazing, you can't taste it but it was really good. The chefs preparing your courses actually come.out to serve in most cases which was a nice touch. The great man Akhtar himself came out to serve one of the courses, or at least pour the sauce. I have tried to put the pics in order with the menu first so you can match the pic to the dish. I have to say it is not cheap and we did have to convince ourselves for some time that we should go. Really glad we did and it was definitely worth it even if it was a big dent in our going out budget. Would I go again? For that price I think I would be keen to try a different experience but still very glad we went.
Excellent food and service. My only reason for four rather than five stars is that the water served in the lounge on arrival had a taste of chlorine so I assume it was not filtered - and the After Eight pudding needed more ice cream to balance the very rich and solid chocolate. But, that aside, everything was excellent and I would have given 4.5 for food rather than 4.0 if I could have.
