delicious fresh beer. more than just i.p.a.s large open space. bring some home in a growler or enjoy pints there. walk distance to ferry
Such a solid spot! Fantastic beer, w/byof options on the same street. Oysterfest was a blast.
The pride of Staten Island beer is found right here. You really can't go wrong ordering any beer from Flagship. The space itself is a great place to hang with friends and bartenders are always friendly and attentive
I love this place. I love how welcoming it is to their guests. They have a friendly staff. The beer is really good. I appreciate the general laissez-faire approach to parties. I'm just grateful that flagship exists and will gladly continue to patronize this business.
Amazing beer, amazing brewery. Oder a flight and take the tour. The brew master who administered the tour for us was charming, informative and funny. If you have any interest in craft brewing or you ever wanted to know how beer is made, it's well worth your time. The space is open and full of picnic tables. There's a nice supply of games (e.g. Jenga) to play while you try the beer. I finally have an excuse to come to Staten Island.
Fantastic microbrewery! Great service, fantastic beers and really friendly atmosphere. The Kolsch is a must! Well worth popping over on the ferry for!
Liked Kölsch the most, very similar to a German beer. Interesting design of the bar, perfect place for a glass of beer if you have just stepped off the ferry and looking something local and not widely known ( maybe yet). Will be back definitely.
Great spot for a first birthday! So much fun for kids and adults! Tricia and her staff are very accommodating and made our party smooth and perfect !
It’s a large clean and open space. The employees are super friendly. They have large size connect 4 and a shuffleboard. They have a good variety for beer.
Lovely little brewery. Friendly knowledgeable staff have us a little tour. Bar has a load of their beer on draft. Delicious oyster shell stout.
Great place great beers, the bartender knows what he's talking about advising you on what's available. Even has some arcade games
When looking for beer one always needs to go for the freshest possible. That's why a brewery or brewpub is the choice. This is (so far) the only place on The Rock that fits that bill. Try the IPA. My fave.
Loved this brewery! Great service, excellent beer, cool atmosphere - if we lived here, it would be a favorite spot for sure!!!
Nice place. Larger than I expected inside, liked the style and the vibe. Had a couple of good beers and the bartender was very nice. Thanks.
Finally got to visit and loved what Flagship offers. Great beer, fun staff. Looking forward to our next visit.
Friendly Flagship Brewery crew slaked our thirst after the 35-mile bicycle Tour de Staten Island. Sampled the APA (American Pale Ale), the Wit (White / Wheat), and the Wee Heavy (Scotch Ale) -- I'll be back for more of the Wee Heavy!
Hosted a street party here - great atmosphere
What a relaxed, laid back place with great bartenders. Super chill and knowledgeable. Had three flights of all the beers, best was swamp, summer and holt(dessert). Blood orange was good too. Distillery on the side.
I visited back in 2019 and this was my favorite brewery from NYC. Impressive equipment and production facilities! Too bad I couldn't get the tour. Good selection of beers, games and food. Simply loved it! 🙂
Fantastic establishment with high quality products and wonderful service. The management here is wonderfully friendly and has looked out for me a great deal and at one point I had my wallet stolen from me, and whoever stole my wallet then went to this establishment to drink. They then accidentally left my wallet on the bar, and the manager here actually waited for me well past closing to hand me my wallet directly and personally. Something I will never forget. 5 stars
The Flagship Brewery supplied their quality micro brews at a Local Event party in September that I was lucky enough to attend. I loved their darker amber beer. You will not be disappointed, go and try them out at there brewery located on 40 Minthorne St, New York, NY 10301.
Been here multiple times. Always something going on. Cornhole night, comedy night, trivia, etc. Homebrews are really great. Parking lot across the street. Close to shopping at the outlets and to the ferry.
Enjoyed our visit very much! The bartender is very personable and really made the experience memorable. Beer is very pleasant, definitely give it a try! Venue is gorgeous so don't let the slightly sketchy looking neighborhood put you off.
Ryan, the bartender, provided exquisite service. I also had a chance to meet the brewer Doug, who provided a great lesson on the craft brewing process. This is the center of great beer on SI.
Fantastic tap room, great size with room for live entertainment and televised events. Michael behind the bar was helpful and informative, and the beer itself was incredible. Well worth the ferry from Manhattan to try!
I can’t say enough about this place!! I had my daughter’s bridal shower there yesterday! I was so happy with the way everything turned out!! Everyone had such a great time! Tricia the event planner was so helpful. For over a year she has been helping me plan. She even helped me find things at cost on line! She responded to every question immediately. She went above and beyond! Thank you Tricia and Flagship for helping me throw the bridal shower for my daughter that dreamed of!
Great taproom with a view on the brewery through a big glass window. You can get all of their beer on tap or a sampler with all four if them. They brew ales and I liked their pale ale and dark mild ale which has a nice coffee flavor. People who work here are great and friendly. They do tours of a brewery as well if you want to go behind the scenes. It's a great place to come with bigger crowd for some beer tasting. There are some drinking games for use to make the atmosphere even better.
Wonderful experiences here especially in the summer when there is outside seating available. Employees are very respectful an courteous and management are good humble honest folks. The drinks are fantastic and the food they serve it downright amazing 5 Stars
Ryan was super friendly and the beer was great. Absolutely worth leaving the ferry terminal for a visit!
We're tourists that stopped here and had a great time. We took the Staten Island ferry and walked down to this place and were pleasantly surprised. Flagship was a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of NYC. We sat right at the bar and we served great beer immediately. The bartender and local patrons even provided great trip recommendations. I'd highly recommend stopping here.
Ryan was amazing when we visited. We really enjoyed our experience and tasting all the beers. Best beers we had on our four day visit to New York. Thank you very much.
Mike the bartender's the best!! He chatted with us on all manner of topic, from Staten Island tourism, Staten Island history, current politics - smart funny guy. We live in Portland Oregon, where there's lots of good beer & this place's beer was excellent - and they were playing damn fine music the whole time we there.
Hay, love your place but I drove here 4:45pm Thursday and CLOSED
You'll find a large indoor area and outdoor street-side seating. They boast an impressive lineup of eleven craft beers brewed in-house, with 'The Narrows' barrel-aged stout standing out as a true gem. Located merely a block from the vibrant city center and within easy reach of a train station, this establishment proudly displays a decade's worth of brewing history through its collection of brewing tanks and barrels. While the service is generally excellent, it could be even more attentive to local patrons.
Amazing European-style beer, a short walk from the ferry terminal on Staten Island. For tourists looking for some place to go on the island before taking the boat back, I highly recommend checking out the place, locals too.
Hey, the Flagship was awesome. I’m from Manhattan and happened to be on Staten Island with some friends on Saturday. Our original plans were to do some bar-hopping, cool spots to chill. Our first and only stop was the Flagship. After trying a few beers, my favorite was Van Dam, we stay. One fella (I can’t remember his name) in a Flagship shirt, welcomed us, encouraged us to stay, made some great suggestions. We really felt comfortable, and we purchased some Van Dam to go. Great spot, and we will return!
Took a trip on the Staten Island Ferry while visiting NYC from the UK, after a quick google found this brewery. We love a craft beer and popped in. It didn’t disappoint! Staff were friendly, the IPAs and Pilsner we had were tasty. To top it off, the lovely bearded gent behind the bar gifted us some glasses to take home. Recommend popping over on the ferry (it’s free) and visiting Flagship for a few beers!
Decided to finally check them out after saying for the longest time I would. Finally got that push when they announced the Ralph’s Hard Seltzer and everyone went crazy. I took that as my opportunity to check them out. They have some great beer options, lots of outdoor seating (even indoors when they can have us inside). Prices are def cheap too. I’m hooked! The employees working are also extremely sweet and informative. Definitely will continue coming back here!
Exploring St George and its environs one summer day, i had seen all that i had wanted to see and was in need of refreshment. I remember reading on a website about several independent breweries. Combing through my memory, i remembered that there was one right here, in the Forgotten Borough. I arrived and was guided as to what i should try by the friendly and obliging staff. I had a two pints of a delicious, ice-cold pale Ale of whose name i cannot for the life of me remember. I sat outside, in a comfy chair, with and ice-cold beer and the remaining August warmth and sunshine. I had another yet another pint of a different brew, which was equally delicious. What a fantastic end to a beautiful day. Thanks to all at Flagship Brewery.
No visit to NYC is complete without a short trip to "The Forgotten Borough" of Staten Island. And while visiting a stop at The Flagship Brewing Co is a must. With many freshly brewed beer to choose from, craft cocktails featuring local spirits and a taproom menu you will be completely and happily satisfied with your visit. Flagship is a short walk from the Staten island Ferry or a 2 minute uber ride. Don't miss out it's worth the visit.
I had so much fun trying out the non alcohol options with the daytime bartender. He and the brewmaster were super nice. The space is warm and inviting. I’ll definitely be back!
Breweries are always a fave stop. Excellent beers, great staff and comfy atmosphere.
Popped in for a quick pint after getting the Staten Island ferry, highly recommend visiting nice selection of beers and a nice venue.
What a gem! I went here because I found this address of another brewery that may or may not exist (Mad Love?). Anyway, DAMN these are some great beers. Pictured is the nitro blood orange wit and a (really damn good) classic Italian Pilsner. The beer menu didn’t look too interesting but it’s clear these are some special beers. There’s no “triple oat cream dry hopped with citra conditioned on fairy dust” nonsense here (and don’t get me wrong, I love that style too). These are just really classic, incredible well crafted brews. Worth the ferry over, any day of the week.
Had my daughter 1 st birthday there today it was amazing and perfect . Tricia the server went above and beyond to make our day great ! I deff recommend having a party here !!
Went for a cider and beer, they were great. Added bonus is the shuffle board that is free to play. Great spot and popular amongst the locals.
Cool bar, great vibe and awesome manager. Best beer we had in NYC. Must visit.
True to its name, The Flagship Brewing Company lives up to its "Flagship" status with a remarkably spacious and comfortable venue. Its location is a major highlight, being just a short walk from the St. George Terminal of the Staten Island Ferry. For anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Manhattan and enjoy a relaxed beer, a ferry ride over to this spot for a drink or two would be perfect. As for the beer itself, I tried their Blood Orange IPA, and it was absolutely outstanding. This place is a definite must-visit for beer lovers and those seeking a laid-back atmosphere with great brews.
Update 8/10/24 the bartender Ryan is awesome. They have a hip-hop night tonight with DJs. Did I mention they are dog friendly? Great brewery with about 15 beers on tap, plus local wines and spirits. Now serving food in conjunction with their neighboring restaurants. There are games like Foosball and others, great for groups and parties.
I am not a beer drinker at all and I don’t even like the smell of beer however my boyfriend loves a good IPA and he loves Flagship! I join him and I actually enjoying coming to flagship because of the awesome people like one of the owners Sam the cool bar tenders Oliver and Mike always great to talk to ! Great vibe! They have a lot of comedy nights, open mic nights as well as open the place up as a venue for rent for different occasions ! They recently also started serving frozen drinks which I love like the Arnold Palmer and now they have local bourbon and vodka. They have great games to play check out the photos ! They also Have light appetizers available. :)
Just a short walk from the Staten Island Ferry you can find this lovely brewery with their amazing selection of beers. I Czech-checked 🇨🇿✅ their Pilsners and also tried couple other beers and I can assure you that you gonna enjoy them. Their Tunnel to Tower Brave Golden Ale beer has a great story, so ask for details. Great, knowledgeable, passionate and friendly staff even took me to the actual brewery for a micro tour with explanation. So next time instead of running from the ferry to catch the same one just calm down and enjoy Flagship Brewing products!
4/2022 back for a pickup of some Holterman's! Got to meet more nice people from the brewery. Thanks for your hospitality- 6/2021Stopped in for some beer to-go. Nice people here. Talked to Mike (?) He gave me some good info, thanks! I will return to hang out and have some beer, there's a cool vibe happening here. I'll be wearing my Flagship hat in the meantime 🧢 Across the street there's a small lot for parking.
Liked the blood orange IPA. Good views of the brewery operation. Bring whatever food you want to eat from outside and buy beer to match.
I visited with a group of 30+ people on a Saturday afternoon, enjoying a sampler and then taking a tour with the very knowledgeable and passionate head brewer, Pat. I sampled four beers, two darks, one lager and my favorite, the American Wit. Restrooms are large and clean. Seating is available at picnic tables or a few highboys and games are available for in-tap room use. Menus are at each seating area as no food is served, just a vending machine with a few snacks. This seems to work for other breweries, but given the location, I'd love if they had some food on site or even a local food truck posted outdoors.
Big space and friendly faces welcome you to a beer tasting experience. the lagers and special beers for fall are really tasty. This place is good to go with friends, no real food is the bad side.
Nice place. The decor was really cool, and the bartender was friendly. Would be better if they did tours of the brewery on other days instead of only Saturdays, but overall was nice.
Layout/atmosphere *Small bar area (five seats); picnic tables/communal seating *15 taps for craft beer *Snacks but no full menu *Fridge with beers available for purchase Food/drink *Kills Boro Secret Gestures - no good
If you don't live on Staten Island, make it a day, take the Ferry and either walk or take train one stop to Flagship. Fun brewery to visit during warm months.
Very nice beer hall with a view to the brewery floor. Beer selection was okay but the seasonal varietals are great so far. Especially autumn.
The beers here tend to be strongly accented on one dimension, so you will either love or hate them, but if you go for a flight you'll definitely find something you like. The best part is the tours, which give a pretty in-depth look at the brewing process, and the head brewmaster is pretty funny and down to earth too. It's not too far from the ferry terminal so if you need to kill some time before NYC's finest free boat cruise, stop by!
The beer here is pretty good, but the atmosphere is AMAZING. Big ole stage for live music. And there's a ton of room to feel comfortable and hang out. The guys working the taps are great and friendly and happy to chat with you about beer. I hope that they start getting a little more daring with their brews at some point, but they are still young, so they definitely have time to evolve!
My go- to neighborhood bar. Love the blood orange IPA. I dropped by on a Monday when a few fellows were hanging around outside. Asked them when they were open so I could get fresh beer. They sold me a 6 pack on the spot, despite being closed to public. I’ve also filled up my growler here multiple times to bring some fresh NYC beer up to my folks in MA. Wish there was more of an incentive for growler fills. (Picking up cans is cheaper)
Beer here was good, nothing too imaginative in terms of selection. Just mainly your standard APA, IPA, and Kolsch on tap. But what is on tap is good, none of the beers I had tasted off, they were all crafted well. The service is a little strange because there’s no line for beer so people cut in front of people waiting all the time. Fun games are available to borrow. Cool place to drink with friends!
Flagship Brewing Company is a decent spot to try a beer on Staten Island (also very near the ferry departures area). They have a number of beers, but I thought many of them were very similar (not a lot of variety in beet types, lots of lagers, etc.). They do, however, also have a nice cocktail list. And the have games like shuffleboard, and it looks like a good place to host events (they have them often, the men behind the bar said).
This brewery is located close to the Staten Island Ferry, making it relatively accessible. When I came here there seemed to be a birthday party and lots of music playing. This did make it slightly hard to have a conversation. I ordered a Wolf Hound, which was a solid beer. They do have a few other options that I may want to return to try.
This great Brewery has ample seating and less than 10 minutes away from the ferry. When you walk into the joint, there’s definitely an awesome brewery aroma. The beer selection is decent with different styles beers. A nice stop to grab a cold one after taking the ferry across to see the Statue of Liberty.
I really like flagship and always had a good experience except for today. One particular employee who gave me and my friends an attitude for no reason. He told us that we could leave if there was an issue for not following cdc protocol which we were doing. It was very unprofessional and rude, we did not appreciate the way he acted.
Staten Island's first brewery has a bit of cache to it, but the beer is average. The tasting room is big and somewhat barren, though I imagine they will add to it in time. The lack of food service and non-alcoholic beverages beyond a vending machine is a bummer. There is potential, though it isn't worth the hike in its current state.
Its just a (medium) big beer hall w picnic tables n a few high tops. Decent selection of craft beer. I like a dark stout or porter beer .. do not like IPAs or tutti fruiti beers. They had a lager that was ok. I dont think they have food. It's ok.
Who knew Staten Island had it's own brewery? The brewery itself is a decently sized and the offer flights of 4 beer tasting for around $8 [or one ticket]. They also offer ample seating, parking space, and games! Because being drunk makes board games a lot more fun. The brewmasters were also very generous and gave a well informative tour of the brewery [full disclosure, it was a bit boring but a lot more fun drunk ;)]. My only qualm is they do not offer any food options but they do have take out menus from nearby spots and two vending machines [FYI Snickers and beer, not a good mix]. If you like small independent breweries, its worth the trip as it is right by the ferry after a 15 - 20 minute walk or take the S51 and get off by the park [around 3 or 4 stops] and walk for like 5 minutes. And, also pick some of their swag, yes, they are a bit overpriced but you made the trip to the Forgotten Borough, you need to get a memento other than a hangover.
I went here recently with 29 friends. I felt it was very barren. There were no decorations. I expected to see beer motifs but there were none. Even though we had a reservation, the Flagship Brewing Company was not ready for us. We stood in a long line for beers. There was no booklet explaining the different beers. I decided to get a sampler, as I never tried any of these beers. The brewery ran out of glasses, so the beer was served in plastic cups but it was very good. There was no after taste or bloating from the beer. It was very smooth. The staff was extremely nice and friendly. Although the brewery was understaffed. There is no food service, only vending machines. I would put a hot dog stand and/or soft pretzel stand inside the large sparsely furnished room. Another good idea would be a stand with barrels of beer. The beer could be served on tap from the barrels. In its present state, I would only go if I was in the neighborhood.
They were holding a private event and no warning was given anywhere, even in their social media. I and my wife have arrived in Staten Island early and have waited to go to this place. What a shame!
The worst place! You come with the ferry and an extra walk for 15 minutes from the terminal, especially for this brewery. Even checked, as advised on the website, this instagram account to be sure they wouldn’t have a private event and then it is closed for a private event. You can’t even get a glass of water! 😢
Being beer lovers as we are, we decided to combine out staten island ferry trip with a visit to this brewery, even though the beers were not as fascinating as most other craft beer breweries. We checked their website and instagram beforehand to be sure they were open, but after our 15 minute walk to the brewery we were denied due to a ‘private event’. We were not even allowed to get some water for the heat. Luckily we had a lovely time at the italian place next door, with great beer! So skip this rude joint and go next door!
They deserve zero stars. I've tried to go twice (two different weekends) and they were closed both times for kids birthday parties. Apparently, this place is never open to adults. Won't waste my time in the future.
Shockingly bad customer service here. Have come here on multiple occasions, on a weekend, specifically to give this place a try. Each time, the place has been unexpectedly closed/booked for some kid's birthday party. ZERO notice or updates on their website, NOBODY answers the phones either if you try to call ahead. Absolutely no clue how they have good reviews here. There's literally hundreds of great bars and dozens of breweries in NYC, zero reason to keep trying this place in the hopes they actually open to the public on a weekend.
