We came here for my wife's birthday. Amy took such good care of us on our first visit. She was amazing, but so were our food, drinks, and the ambiance! Five stars all around! The best negroni that I have ever had. We both LOVED the grilled artichoke. She enjoyed the house salad with a very fresh and tart dressing, I LOVED the fennel/apple salad, and I was so pleasantly surprised when I got the rehydrated cherry or a bite of pistachio. Crispy salmon should be on everyone's bucket list... She disagrees. She thinks it should be grilled chicken picatta (but she didn't have the salmon!). I also indulged in a draft Peroni, then affogato and Courvoisier VS for dessert... which they served in a heated glass. Another beautiful attention to detail. Everything was beautifully prepared and served. This was an amazing experience, and we are both so glad that we chose Alavita to celebrate my wife's birthday!
We loved the food! It’s probably the best Italian food in Boise area. Beef rigatoni was our favorite! Calamari were so yummy too. The arugula salad was so so good! Justin was a great, knowledgeable, friendly server. It was our first time and we enjoyed it.
While Italian isn't my normal go-to, we wanted to give it a shot after hearing a lot of great things from our friends. And it was absolutely worth it! There were a lot of options that sounded delicious and we ended up getting: Marinated Olives, Cannellini Hummus, Grilled Artichoke Hearts, and the Black Ravioli. I like a lot of flavorful food and few places actually do much to their olives, but the citrus added a nice element to them and would get them again. Now the hummus was probably the second best that I've had in the entire valley, which I'll always be getting when dining here. And the grilled artichoke hearts were very tasty, too! The venue is beautiful and transports you out of the downtown area, which is really nice. I'm excited to go back and to try some of their other menu options!
Amazing food, service and nice convenient location. Our server was very attentive and was able to easily and clearly explain the menu to us and answer all our questions. The make it yourself charcuterie board was amazing, main courses were delicious and I would definitely recommend the Sea Salt Budino to wrap up an amazing dinner. Great place for my Wife's birthday! Thank you!
Ate here a couple months ago on a date with my bf, and we were so surprised! The food was AMAZING, the atmosphere was charming, and the service was flawless! We LOVED dining here, bf told me this is one of his new favorite Italian restaurants to dine at. We’ll be back for sure!
We dropped in for dinner last night. It's probably best if you have reservations, but there was immediate seating at the bar, so we took it. The bartenders we're fabulous. Helpful & attentive, but not in your face. Their recommendations for wine & entrees were spot on for us. The food service was quick but also spaced out well so that we had time to finish our appetizer before our entrees arrived. We went with the Burrata to start. Oh my... so good. The apricot-cherry mostarda was delightful. The Black Ravioli was very good & the perfect lighter meal for someone who wants an appetizer, dessert, or both. The iltalian sausage in the Pappardelle had a little spice to it (I love spice!), but not so much that those who have low spice tolerance would have difficulties. I thought the noodles, saucce, tomatoes, & broccoli perfectly balanced the sausage. I would definitely get this again. Finished the night with their Chocolate Tiramisu. Light with the chocolate & coffee flavor you'd expect. My friend loved it. Love how you get your bill. They give you a black book to write comments about your experience. I loved it! Simple but fun & unique. ❤️ Nice spot for after work, a family night out, or a date. Try it out!
Very impressed with the parmesan gelato. Didn’t know that parmesan could come in a very soft form that paired very well with garlic bread and jam. Rigatonni was on point too! The braised beef blent perfectly with the black garlic, roasted mushrooms and truffle butter. I enjoyed these amazing food with a shot of Frangelico (which is also a first for me). They have a wide selection of drinks. Friendly bartender and great ambiance. I highly recommend this place!
Have been there twice and both times the food was absolutely amazing. The meatball appetizer is out of this world. The service is incredible they are always on top of everything. Carrie is amazing and gives a very friendly and family vibe. Anytime you are in downtown Boise I highly recommend having a great Italian dinner here. Went again last night to enjoy some amazing food and like always top notch. The food and the service is incredible and I highly recommend. If your in downtown Boise definitely stop in and get some outstanding food. Sorry no pics was to hungry and it was to delicious.
Alavita Restaurant in Boise, Idaho, is a culinary gem that offers an exquisite dining experience, blending a cozy atmosphere with impeccable service. From the moment we stepped in, we were enveloped by a warm welcome and an inviting ambiance. The cocktail menu was a delightful surprise, featuring a range of innovative and classic concoctions, each crafted to perfection. The grilled artichoke hearts, a star appetizer, were tantalizingly flavorful and provided a splendid start to our meal. The special fresh market risotto, a symphony of fresh, vibrant ingredients, was a testament to the chef's dedication to sourcing high-quality, seasonal produce. Moving on to the entrees, the chicken marsala was a savory masterpiece, with the rich, mushroom-infused wine sauce complementing the perfectly cooked chicken. The Tagliatelle, on the other hand, was a beautiful melody of textures and flavors, with the pasta cooked to al dente perfection. Every dish was a celebration of authentic Italian flavors, presented with a contemporary twist. Alavita not only satiated our palates but also provided a memorable evening that we will cherish. A must-visit for anyone seeking a top-notch Italian dining experience in Boise
Cozy, interesting atmosphere and great food. Their signature cocktails are also a grand adventure. Gluten Free pasta options allow me to try most of the menu. Reservations needed most nights but you might be able to get a seat at the bar if you are early enough. Bartenders and wait staff knowledgeable and friendly.
I was looking for a place to have dinner for my birthday after our original reservation at another restaurant fell through due to overbooking. We walked into Àlavita and were seated right away. The atmosphere was beautiful, and the staff was fantastic!
We LOVE going here and having drinks and appetizers! This was the chefs take on Italian sashimi. PHENOMENAL. Some of the best service around to boot!
Felt so great (and safe) to go out and support local quizine! We started with the round midnight & basil foam cocktails and Baratta antipasti and could have just stopped right there! So good! We had help choosing a bottle of wine to pair with the absolutely incredible short ribs and fresh made pasta dish! I can’t even tell you how fantastic all this food was!! We finished by sharing some yummy Pistachio Cannoli, like we actually had any room. Lol. Great atmosphere and great food!!!
Had an absolutely spectacular dinner here. The drinks were perfectly mixed, the appetizer brie and prosciutto we ordered had great toppings, and the Chef's special risotto and pasta dish were delicious. I wish we lived closer so we could eat here weekly!
This review is long overdue. We've been here 5 or 6 times and it is consistently great. Love the ambiance, including the appropriate Sinatra dinner music. The food is outstanding (highly recommend the meatballs for appetizer, but have had others that are also great). Service is top notch as well. Oh...and the COCKTAILS! Yum! I went with my party of 4 this past Saturday and I tried everyone's meal. It was difficult to say who had the best meal because they were all THAT good! Alavita hits all the marks, which is extremely rare, so we'll keep coming back!
The Roman Carbonara was cooked to perfection and atmosphere inside is very pleasant. We didn’t have reservations, but arrived right as they opened and got a table. The only negative(if you want to call it that) was feeling rushed through to get done. Food is worth it!
All of the staff were lovely and perfessional! Our server Miss Lucy was wonderful. My partner and I will be back asking for her with how utterly sweet and friendly she was, we had a lovely evening!
Alavita provided one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment we walked in, we were promptly seated and served fresh water. Within two minutes, our server greeted us with the specials and took our drink order flawlessly—without even writing anything down. When the drinks arrived, they were perfection. The mixologist crafted the best dirty martini in Boise. After browsing the menu, we opted for the chef’s choice of cured meats and cheeses. The presentation was stunning, and the flavors were even better—creamy Brie, delicate prosciutto, flavorful olives, handmade pickles, and a remarkable coffee and fig relish. It was so delicious it didn’t last long, and right on cue, our entrees arrived. The presentation of the dishes was impeccable, and everything was served piping hot. I chose the risotto with jumbo scallops and roasted chanterelle mushrooms, which was so exceptional I ended up swapping bites with my partner’s equally impressive Frutti di Mare. From the attentive service to the premium quality of the food and drinks, Alavita made us feel like celebrities. It was truly an unforgettable night. Cheers to Alavita and their incredible team!
Excellent! Loved it! Mikaela gave the best service! The wine, drinks, food, & atmosphere were fantastic! Excellent wine selection. The prime.rib for two was delicious! This is definitely an A+ restaurant!
Went this weekend and still dream of the grilled artichoke hearts appetizer. My husband who claims not to like artichokes puts it in his top 20 dishes of his life. I agree. I wish we didn't live in another state and could go back for just that. Another hit was the Burrata with the apricot-cherry mostarda. The mostarda was slightly sweet and complimented the Burrata's richness. Plus the chewier crostini/bread was delightful. I tried a bite of the Tagliatelle and that's what I'm getting next time. Enjoyed the risotto that I had (especially with grilled shrimp and the pieces of asparagus). The Braised Short Rib with polenta was really delicious too. Don't shoot me but I'm not a fan of the gelatto but liked the fresh take on Cannoli. Service was excellent.
From the greeting of the staff to the entree, everything was fabulous. We enjoyed a charcuterie of different meats and cheese as a appetizer and we followed that with a scallop dish and another appetizer of the octopus dish. Morgan was our bartender and waiter and he was tremendous. Don't miss this place.
We ended up at Alavita on a last minute whim and I am so glad we did! The atmosphere and staff made the experience that much better but the food… the food was AMAZING. The burrata was the most delicious dish I’ve had in a while. The Taligtelle was incredible and very flavorful and the scallops were the best in Boise (in my opinion). Absolutely would recommend to anyone who’s looking for a nicer dinner spot in downtown Boise!!
Great food friendly service. Surprisingly busy for a Monday night, but that just shows this place is popular. I liked the atmosphere and decor, very stylish and neat. Would like to try dining outside next time I go. Try the black ravioli and artichoke hearts!
Really just a stunning experience. I ordered the pappardelle and it was absolutely fabulous. Service exemplary too. Fine dining, the price reflects that, but it's worth it. Thank you Alavita!
Recommend making reservations. The food was divine. Be sure to ask what the Chefs Crudo is.
I've been dreaming about these scallops since we had these last week! I'm having a hard time deciding which I enjoyed more- the food or the service. BEYOND amazing!!
Good food, classic and more adventurous, at a good price in a nice cozy space. We tried the carbonara, squid ink bucatini, and warm asparagus salad and were impressed by all three, as well as our cocktails. We were not the only family with kids and the staff did a great job accommodating us. The only thing I’d like to see would be a house wine. We’ll be back.
Tonight was an amazing first experience at ALAVITA with my hubby!! The staff was very professional, informative about their menu, and super friendly!! You can taste the passion that goes into their food and the flavors just sing in your mouth!! We will definitely be coming back for sure!!
The quality and flavors of the food provided a pleasurable culinary experience. Ordering two different pasta dishes, i was able to taste toasted saffron as well as fresh. Everything was cooked to perfection. A truly cozy and rustic ambience.
I had the Rigatoni with braised local beef. Phenomenonal! I was just so good, the prefect sized portion too. Cannoli for dessert and artichoke hearts for appetizer - 👌. The service was outstanding as well. Thank you!
Service was friendly, atmosphere was super cool and relaxed, and the food was made fresh and very tasty. A little small on the portion sizes, but that's because I like to eat a lot.
In Idaho, this is thee fine dinning, for taste, service, and quality! It's price point is amazing! So much taste in each bite. Amazing 👏
We recently celebrated our anniversary, we didn’t have a reservation so we sat at the bar. It was a busy night in the restaurant, but the bartender Morgan took great care of us! He was kind and attentive even while making drinks for the whole restaurant. Our cocktails and food all tasted great, and we never waited long for anything. I would highly recommend Alavita for a special occasion or date night!
Sat at the Bar. Great quality of food and flavors. The entree's were good but I was really impressed with the Arugula fennel salad. Had tons of flavor but was so simple at the same time.
An excellent choice for a date night, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the perfect tone. The food is outstanding—generous portions, beautifully presented, and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients that you can truly taste. Prices are very reasonable for the value you receive, making it easy to enjoy a great meal without breaking the bank. The menu has a wide variety of options, ensuring there’s something to please every palate. Combined with attentive service and a thoughtful selection, this restaurant delivers a consistently memorable dining experience worth returning to again and again.
These folks truly know the sublime art of restauranteuring. Everything was exceptional, the food was intoxicating, the ambience was positive but relaxing and the service was truly flawless. Justin was our server and he simply did everything right. His presentation was comprehensive but not overwhelming. He was very attentive without being intrusive and he was humble yet not obsequious. I am a tough restaurant critic because I've done literally everything you can do in this industry and at every level but this quaint and charming little gem has won my admiration and my loyalty. I plan on dining here regularly.
This place is insanely on point. They are not lacking in an areas. Got the artichoke hearts as an app, ravioli for main course and an absolutely phenomenal budino for dessert. Food was excellent all around. Service, changing out silverware and checking in on meal quality was there, very attentive and classy. Clean and pleasant place. Will return.
Loved the house baked focaccia with truffle honey butter! The rigatoni was also very rich and our favorite pasta. Great service.
We went to Alavita for the first time for my fiancé’s birthday. Once we were seated it took a bit for our waitress to come, but she was very friendly. Overall our waiting service was slow, but the host was always coming by and checking on us which was nice. We ordered the focaccia as an appetizer and it was pretty standard and delicious. We did appreciate the honey butter that was a nice touch. Because I am a vegetarian, I ordered the pappardelle dish with no meat, and my fiancé got the tagliatelle. I would rate our enjoyment of these dishes as good, not extraordinary, but tasty. Portions were good and it did taste fresh, But I think for the price we are not sure we would come back simply because we could get similar quality/taste elsewhere for cheaper. We did really appreciate the ambience of the restaurant and it is very pretty and decorated uniquely. Overall a solid four out of five stars.
This has always been one of our date night places. Customer service is always professional and efficient! The wine was lovely (glass of Cab Sauv and Sauv Blanc). The mussels were very nice. My hubby got the a nice flat noodle, meat, red sauce dish that is heavenly. I got the Black Ravioli in a cream sauce with shrimp and crab. I've always wanted to try it yet was honestly, a little underwhelmed. The flavor just seemed slightly off and did not sit well with my stomach. I've never been disappointed at Alavita and would hate to say it because I love this restaurant - yet, I was disappointed in my personal meal. Everything else was great but to leave with a disappointed dish the last taste on your tongue has me questioning if/when we go back. This breaks my heart even typing this.
It was my birthday and we decided to go to a restaurant we have not been to. Alavita is very quaint in the atmosphere and decore. My honey had black ravioli with some type of white sauce and shrimp on top. The pasta portion of the ravioli was not al dente it was hard. So he ate the ingredients inside. I ordered a caersar salad which was heavily topped with so much parmesan cheese that was all I tasted. For my meal I had spaghetti with meatballs and red gravy. The sauce was good, the pasta overcooked and the meatballs were tasty. On a positive note our cocktails were good and our waitress was wonderful. Thank you Mary for making our time in Alavita fun.
Just went for dinner last night after hearing great things about it. Calamari was mid with the rubbery texture synonymous with lower quality/overcooked. The foccacia bread was amazing. Our party of 4 all got drinks. None of which were memorable. My wife and I ordered the pork pappardelle and rigatoni. Both dishes had quite a bit of fat. One piece in the rigatoni was atleast 2oz in size. And the meat portions of both dishes were on the smaller size. The most disappointing part of the plates was the pasta. They cut their pasta super thick. Which didn't give good flavor to the dishes. More of a overwhelming pasta flavor instead of marrying with the sauces.
We had such High hopes & I think us waiting for four anniversaries to get a reservation set our bar too high! If it wasn't for our amazing waitress I would leave two stars sadly. The sister restaurant Fork serves better pasta & that shocks me! Buccatani recommended was barely warm & had almost no flavor & the cheese on top was almost frozen so it made the dish colder. And the papperdelli pasta with spicy sausage was extremely spicy but at least the sauce had flavor. Sadly the pasta was the true let down & it sucks cause homemade pasta is the best thing in the world or at least it should be... And I was shocked at the menu as it's supposed to be seasonal but it was still set up for August more so then mid October. 95% of the pasta dishes were tomato based & part of the reason I went was for an Alfredo as I have food allergies & this & Fork are one of only three restaurants in the valley who use Cloverleaf Cream. I have watched all their videos making pasta & honestly I have had boxed pasta with more flavor & that made me sad. At least salt the water please.... Maybe it was just a bad night but I was so disappointed. And as a side note could the chef go over to Fork & be taught how to make potatoes? Fondant potatoes are not just a fancy shaped boiled potato, they are supposed to be crispy & golden brown on the outside & creamy luscious on the inside.. Best thing on the menu was our appetizers & desserts! Seriously I will dream about those artichokes! But my take away should have been about amazing pasta 😢
The food is good however the service was lacking. They new it was my husband birthday as I mentioned in the reservation. The hosest said something, the waiter never did. Of course we barely saw him. Lots of waiting. Was not a pleasant experience unfortunately.
Great spot and our bartender was awesome (we ate at the bar). They food was really just ok. Chicken. Piccata was ok at best. Had the vodka sauce pasta and the sauce tasted canned (not good) but the salmon was awesome. Really not somewhere I would come again but not a terrible experience
A great space with responsive staff. Mostly the food was just OK The rigatoni was good. Had to send it back for heating though because it was not hot. The risotto was so overpowering is was a bit of a shock. I would describe it as bitter. Whatever greens they used in it tasted like beet greens or something very harsh. This cannot be the usual recipe. Other dishes were ok but not memorable. Portions were just acceptable. Wanted the Osso Bucco but $63?? This is the second try this year. Sorry, I don’t think we will be going back soon.
2nd time here and will not be returning. An Aperol Spritz 18.00? For Aperol? The Riggatoni had 2 pieces of meat in it for the high price, it was disappointing. My Husband said the calamari was on a sauce which wasn't good.
I truly wish I had something better to say, especially since this was our Valentine’s Day dinner, but the food was incredibly disappointing especially for the price. We started with the calamari, which was honestly inedible. It tasted like it had been thrown into the fryer straight from frozen — the breading was falling apart and sliding off, and the texture was off. The aioli that came with it was laughable and completely flavorless; we had to dip everything into the Calabrian chile just to get any hint of taste. The Caesar salad was just okay, but the dressing barely resembled a true Caesar — very little depth or anchovy flavor. The chicken marsala was another letdown. The sauce was overly sweet and lacked the rich, savory balance you expect from a classic marsala. The only bright spot of the evening was the service. Our server was attentive, kind, and gave excellent wine recommendations. We won’t be coming back.
Had very high hopes for this place and planned our anniversary here. The beet and citrus salad my partner ordered lacked any flavor and ‘vinaigrette’. The side of shrimp was charred and if blind folded we wouldn’t be able to tell what type of meat it was over the burnt taste. The chicken marsala had little to no cream and was coated with oil - definitely NOT what marsala should be. The waiter, however, was phenomenal and was very good at his job. For the price of the food it wasn't worth it.
Sadly they advertise gluten-free pasta and its just not good at all. We had grilled artichoke it was very good! The pasta dish was not good at all. Pasta was not cooked enough yet also a penne.. I ordered a bolognese so I assume a thick pasta noodle. It was not good. At all. I also wasn't asked how it was which was weird. My partner said his meal was slightly cold. For $150 with drinks ... disappointed. Stay home and make home made bolognese... and buy a fancy bottle of wine. You'll be happier.
