My family's favorite Japanese Restaurant! The service, atmosphere, and food are first class! We make sure we eat here anytime we are in New York! Too bad we live in Georgia!

Reasonably priced for high quality sushi and Japanese food. You could pay more but get less. Fresh and tasty fish and rice, the core of all sushi. Red miso is rich and flavorful. Gets busy at lunch so book ahead. Mix of clients. Lots of Japanese businessmen which is always a good sign as they focus on “cost performance” when choosing a lunch spot. いただきまーす!^_^

Great atmosphere, outstanding and friendly service, and amazing food. Every piece of the omakase was trilling. You have no choice but to leave with a smile.

Excellent 🍣The staff is especially professional. The crowd is usually business-people and you can expect a wait for lunch during a weekday because of all the offices in the neighborhood. The chefs choice sushi and sashimi dishes are especially excellent.

The sushi here was delicious! We did the sushi deluxe plate and the sushi was top notch. The place is perfect for a non-romantic eaters like for co-workers or a friend meet up. I probably wouldn't

Really nice spot! We made reservations at 12pm on Monday and it was super busy but the service was still awesome and the California rolls were 10/10! Very nice i will come back and bring friends :)

Absolutely incredible! Very authentic and high quality food, service, and decor/ambiance. The fish was very fresh, well prepared and tasted incredible. We ordered the dream box and, boy, it was truly a dream! I highly recommend ordering the dream box as a very nice sampler dish. Additionally they have an absolutely delectable green tea ice cream and tea. Will come here again and I recommend you do as well!

I have been told that I have to try Hatsuhana if I’m in Manhattan. It’s really worth the fame. The signature Box of dreams is an eye candy. I liked most of them. The restaurant is extremely packed at lunch time, so it’s better to book ahead. And since you are too close to the next table, it’s a bit lack of privacy.

Beautiful fish expertly prepared. Traditional, in the best sense of the word. No trendy rolls. Like stepping into Japan 40 years ago.

The best Japanese food I've ever had. I honestly can't describe how good the food tastes. Everything is high quality, the tea is delicious, and the staff has perfect etiquette. I had the dream box with my date and it was the perfect dish to share together. Will definitely come here again!

Box of dreams set is really good! The fish was soo fresh and lots of variety~ perfect for indecisive people like me who can't pick a single dish. Salmon thickness was sliced to perfection!

All around awesome, great quality of food and super friendly staff. So glad they are back to business, ordered takeouts (Chirashi and the 3 Maki set) and it was beautifully packed. It took me 30 minutes to get home to enjoy the food but almost as good as if you dined in the restaurant. Restaurant was a little busy when I was waiting for my food, I would recommend making a reservation if you don't want to chance it/eat at the bar!

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. It is hands down my favorite sushi spot in the city. I've been for lunch a number of times as well as dinner. It is not the cheapest place in the world, but I really enjoy going for special occasions and especially for their lunch deals. "Spicy" rolls like tuna or salmon are usually a glob of mayo, but here it's something completely different -- really light and the perfect amount of heat. It's also nice, big pieces of fish (not a ground up food processor mess). Their green tea ice cream is also one of the best. It's smooth and not too sugary. Service is A+ and I strongly suggest making a reservation before showing up. If you work in the area and haven't been, what are you waiting for??

sushi is excellent and they always have great specials. The Oyster from Japan was amazing. This restaurant is the Pearl of Manhattan.

The atmosphere reminds me of an American buffet from the 1990s. However sitting here while the UN meetings were in progress I couldn’t help but feel we are experiencing a golden era that won’t be thought of as such until after the Orange clown hurls us into chaos for his own selfish gains.

Lovely place with fantastic, courteous service! Great food presentation and incredibly fresh and delicious! We were originally seated downstairs in a weird, tight space, and we asked to move upstairs which was much nicer! Loved the place.

Incredible quality fish for the price. Open since ‘76 and it shows why they’ve remained in business. I used to work nearby but still come back when I can!

Favorite sushi place in Midtown. Great service, quality fish at awesome prices. Treat yourself to the sashimi/ sushi combo, box of dreams, or ... dare I say... the amazing omakase ($95)!

Forget your pedestrian bivalves, friends! Hastuhana has unleashed a kraken of oyster perfection, served with the siren song of real, spine-tingling authentic wasabi. We slurped, we savored, and frankly, our oyster compass is forever askew. Normal oysters now seem like cardboard cutouts of their former glory. And then there's the Dream Box, an edible masterpiece that's as much art as appetizer. We felt like barbarians gnawing on the Mona Lisa, but oh, what glorious barbarians we were! Every bite was a brushstroke of flavor, a testament to culinary genius. Speaking of genius, let's raise a sake to Umi. This sake sang on our tongues, a melody that wooed us into instant, devoted fans. We're hooked, line and sinker! But Hastuhana isn't just about the food (though, dear gods, the food!). The service is a symphony of attentiveness. Coats whisked away like fallen leaves, watchful eyes ensuring every plate arrives like a precious jewel. It's the kind of care that makes you feel like royalty, minus the stuffy crowns. Hastuhana, you've stolen our hearts (and probably a few taste buds along the way). We'll be back, lured by the siren song of wasabi and the promise of oyster nirvana. Consider us loyal subjects of your delicious kingdom!

My go to spot for sushi bar and sashimi plates! First of all I don’t have a lot of food pics because I was so hungry every time I went there lol, but hey this place is good if you’re a sushi fan please go and try!! I’ve been there many times and always give them thumbs up!!

Amazing!!!! The waitress was so friendly and knowledgeable. She suggested that I have the fried soft shell crab, my first time, and I cannot stop thinking about it. I also had the "box of dreams". So delicious. The sushi was incredibly fresh too! So tasty and succulent!

A good friend recommended Hatsuhana as I had other friends visiting from out of state! This place is amazing. The sushi was the most fantastic I have ever had, so fresh and tasty! The service was impeccable but my only frustration was the set up as it included stairs for our dinning which was a bit inconvenient and the restroom was a bit odd, I understand this is NYC so spaces are odd. Overall it was amazing! I hope you can get an even bigger space one day or a second location that is a bit more accessible.

We came for dinner on a Tuesday night with a reservation and were led straight to our table in the back of the restaurant. It likes very quaint but the servers were very helpful. The fish is super fresh and the whole experience was wonderful. We got the special miso soup as a starter and it was so good, kind of more smoky than regular miso. We wanted to try the box of frames and their rolls so they brought out the rolls as an appetizer. We got the eel, yellowtail scallion, and the spicy tuna rolls. My favorite was the yellowtail scallion it was perfectly balanced And I could honestly have three rolls of just that. The box of dreams: beautiful and delicious. Don’t be deceived, by the beautiful presentation, the box of dreams is very filling with perfectly balanced combinations of fish and flavors. I was pleasantly surprised to find Uni and toro in the box, definitely worth it! For dessert, the green tea dessert with red bean and mocha was a nice way to close our meal. The green tea ice cream was so creamy and delicious.

A 530 PM table for two at Hatsuhana on a Wednesday yielded the absolute best sashimi that I have ever had the pleasure of tasting, as well as impeccable service from all staff. We first ordered hot green teas and an avocado salad, and due to my gluten intolerance, the dish was modified by removing the sauce. We followed this with a Sashimi Deluxe plate each, (modified for me of course) where our server identified every piece of fish on the beautifully presented plate for us. The sashimi was a religious experience. I savored every bite of fish, some with eyes closed. Not only was there tsuma on the plate like normal, very good seaweed was present as well. The wasabi is real wasabi, and when we ordered individual pieces of salmon toro sushi, there was a tasteful dot of wasabi tucked between the fish and rice. Our green tea was never empty, with multiple perfectly timed free refills. After we finished our meals, we were presented with complementary houjicha (roasted green tea)! We left Hatsuhana with full bellies and a good mood, grabbing a few M&Ms from the complementary M&M dispenser on our way out.

Lovely casual sushi spot. The whole place is set up with screen in between tables so very good covid protocol. Waitress is very attentive and knowledgeable. Sushi was great quality and good value. Perfect for any occasion.

This restaurant was recommended by my foodie guru so I was totally blown away by the quality of their food. The chawanmushi was so delicious and delicate in texture. The sushi samples are also pretty and savory. The mocha ice-cream was perfectly balanced by the red beans. So I really enjoyed the whole experience, giving me the authentic Japanese!

P

Great for the price. The fish is high quality and the atmosphere is surprisingly quiet. Waiters and waitresses are attentive and polite. Highly recommend if looking for a dinner date or with a group of friends/coworkers. Definitely on the pricier side though.

Had the box of dreams! It was a wonderful dining experience. They’re best known for their box of dreams. Make a reservation a weeks or two in advance! The appetizer menu was decent so I’d recommend just sticking with their sushi and sashimi. The monk fish liver and salmon carpaccio were pretty good. I’d skip everything else. The total bill for four people was $480.

The best price- quality combination in the city, amazing and friendly sushi chefs! Fish is always extra fresh and delicious and cut perfectly. Waiters are friendly and very welcoming. 90s style Japanese restaurant. If you have nostalgia with old style, this place is good to visit. I took out box of dream, unagi don, sushi special, seaweed salad and all menus were delicious, excellent quality of ingredients.

Best sashimi that we ever tried! They offered us a personalized dish that wasn't on the menu with the freshly arrived fish 🐠🐟 from Japan 🗾 We had 8 different fishes, three pieces each and a roll and sushi 🍣 plate. The service and ambiance is amazing!

Came here for dinner around 8pm on a Friday night before we went to see a magic show a few blocks away. The restaurant was at about 80% capacity, so you might have gotten lucky, if you tried to walk in without a reservation. I like the authentic Japanese interior feel and the food was also great!

N

If you want good quality sushi then come to this place! Really impressed with the presentation of the food and the simplicity of the restaurant. Simple decor allows you to focus on the food and the company that you’re with. I would definitely eat here again. The sake selection is small but refined. Ask for recommendations! They do close the restaurant a little early before closing time so make sure you get your orders in before it happens. Wear a mask and show vaccination card when you enter!

I don’t take 5 star sushi lightly - and this place deserves 5 stars. Everything from the service, to the quality of the fish, to all the thoughtful details, makes me want to come back tomorrow. The service was absolutely fantastic. The quality of the fish WAS AMAZING. And every detail, from the presentation of the fish, to the restaurant aesthetic, feels so authentic. 100% would recommend. 100% will return.

Although we ordered the omakase, we sat upstairs due to a last minute reservation, but the atmosphere was lovely. Simple but elegant. Let’s just say I was not dressed as I should have been (in a T-shirt and shorts) but they did not make me feel unwelcome even though I felt disrespectful. We ordered the salmon carpaccio and yellowtail jalapeño to start, and midway through the staff mentioned that the group to our left—which had not arrived yet—added two additional people and asked if we could move. We didn’t mind at all and was slightly surprised when the two starters and a drink we did not order became complementary for something that felt so small. Remember, if something goes unexpectedly, a great restaurant will go to great lengths to correct it. Attention to detail matters, and Hatsuhana does it well. The fish was clearly fresh, and prepared with care. If you were looking for the “best sushi” in nyc, one of the 13 Michelin rated restaurants may be slightly better, but for 1.5 to 9x the price, it seems crazy to do so over again, what may be a slight improvement. Highly recommend, and I suggest you put on a button down at the very least, as I will when I return. Food 9.5/10 Atmosphere 10/10 Service 11/10

Seriously, if you haven't been to Hatsuhana, you're doing yourself a disservice! It's my absolute go-to spot whenever I'm in NYC. Here's the inside scoop on what to order: First, the hot green tea – it's like a warm, relaxing hug in a cup. Then, you absolutely have to try the Box of Dreams or the Chirashi. Both are bursting with amazing sushi and sashimi selections. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! This place is always packed, so definitely make a reservation.

Probably some of the best Uni sushis that i ever tasted (get the Japanese ones not the ones from Maine). Everything was delicious from the seared seabass to the yellowtail jalapenos with a surprising umami jelly. The miso soup is probably the best i ever had too. Top Japanese place. Only negative: The decoration needs a little upgrade.

This was an AMAZING dinner experience. The service was so quick and efficient, the food was DELICIOUS. Highly highly recommend the yellowtail jalapeño appetizer. We each got the box of dreams and it was SO delicious and such a cool experience to taste so many different pieces of sushi and flavors. Everything, all the fish, was so fresh and tasty. Also HIGHLLYYYYY recommend the Dungeness crab roll. We got a second one because it was so good. Can’t wait to go back!

This was fresh, delicious, full service, mouth watering!! We just ordered a sushi platter. 10 different rolls. They picked it all for us! And not a single one was bad, I would say every bite I had was stellar!!! It was amazing. The servers were the nicest, happiest people ever. Ok SO busy on a 1pm on a Wednesday. Book a reservation. For dessert, we got the mochi selection. Which was yum!

Was great! Fish was sliced thick and everything was fresh and delicious! We got the hamachi appetizer and was very rich and paired well with the sauce. The only thing I will say, is the shishito peppers appetizer was a pretty small portion, even for just 2 people, but everything else was very generous. I got the box of dreams and it was beautiful and yummy. Kind of like an omakase set, served all at once. Was great to have a set that included uni and toro that didn’t break the bank! Mochi dessert was great! Way better than store bought. Staff were very attentive with sake pours and it was a wonderful experience!

I can’t believe it took me this long to try this place—what a hidden gem. For the price, everything was excellent: the food, the service, all top-notch. The rice portions were small (in a good way), perfectly seasoned, and the fish was fresh and generously cut. Aside from the slightly worn interior and a tilted table that felt a bit odd, it was an outstanding sushi restaurant overall.

This place is legendary. Some of the best sushi I’ve had outside of Tokyo. Have been coming here for years and it’s so consistent. Sit at the bar and order the Sushi Deluxe or get the Omakase if you’re celebrating something special. Sushi Chef Jimmy is THE best!

Favorite restaurant in NYC by far!! I went here for my friend’s birthday, and we sat on the sushi chef’s bar. That was the best experience ever - sushi chefs were very kind&friendly and explained&accomodated our orders as it went. The staffs were very professional and nice as well. I think this place just solely because of the level of service and experience deserves 100 stars. The food was of course great. We had tempura for appetizer and sushi deluxe for entree. Sushi nigiri was perfect portion with great taste. Fish was fresh, and rice was done in the best way possible. It was my first time ever in nyc for 10 years that i was happy about paying my tip. I wished i could give more. Thanks for creating such a positive experience for us, and 100% 200% revisiting and recommending to other people! Also make sure you make reservations ahead haha.

I’m not in midtown often, but had a nice lunch here. The menu is a bit smaller but some options come with either miso soup or a salad. The unagi kyuri is a good option if you don’t want rice, but I thought it was a bit pricey. Waiter was very friendly and overall has a business lunch vibe. There is more seating upstairs too.

A very good place for sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese food based on seafood. Highly recommend the dreambox! It's a little expensive but it's all good!

E

This place was highly recommended but I was a bit disappointed… The service was excellent but the freshness of seafood could be better. Some of the sushi were a bit dry when the plate arrived.

O
Ondrej Dolejsi

Sushi and sashimi were great, service was very polite even though they made a couple of mistakes for a table of 4. It felt like an authentic experience. The $50 toro bowl with tuna tartare wasn't worth it, miso soup was flavorful and I did enjoy both varieties of uni probably for the first time in my life.

Excellent place for sushi, and first time trying Bluefin Tuna. Glad we had reservations as people were being turned away without them. Restaurant was packed. Some Americans next to us were so loud we couldn’t have a conversation: too often the case with them. Restaurants need to take some responsibility to manage their ambiance. Our order of six piece special was 39, but be aware when you get the larger 10 piece order for 49 dollars they are much smaller pieces, so it doesn’t justify the price increase. Sometimes you have bad luck on people in the room, but I’d recommend the place

D

As to be expected a very good Japanese restaurant. If you are going with more than two, reservations is a must even for weekday lunch. I felt the food quality was great but not sure it justify the price. But you are paying for the atmo and service. Good place to impress dates.

There's a great takeout spot for sushi that's super convenient for us since it's located right close to our building. Paying with cash gets you a 10% discount, and the staff is friendly and polite. The service is quick, and the food is really good. This place is a solid choice for sushi takeout.

Hatsuhana is a traditional Japanese restaurant located in midtown NY where I have loved coming for sushi for years, but on my recent visit, I found the fish not as flavorful. The menu allows you to order the omakase ($100 for 15 pieces) or you can choose the sashimi deluxe or sashimi and sushi combination ($40), which is what I did. Overall, it was yummy and a good value, but I think maybe some of the fish were frozen before and it tasted and felt a little watery. But the wait staff is friendly and service is fast. This is a great place for a business lunch or dinner.

Service is wonderful, food is correct for the price. But the dinning table is too tiny. You can hear everything the guys speak next to your table.

The food is good. However there is a table of Chinese customers who speaks very loudly and destroy the whole atmosphere of the restaurant. There could be sign that remind customers not to create noise and speak softly. We ordered some sushi and they are delicious. We could try that again but maybe when the atmosphere problem is resolved.

This would be my recommendation! It looks like not a lot but it definitely filled me up. I wish I knew that some of the sauce was a little spicy because I can’t tolerate any spicy. It is a little pricy but sometime quality Is worth the extra $. The only thing was made me give it a less star was how smelly the bathroom was; I had to hold my breathe the entire time. 🤢

Maybe it's just me but when I go for omakase I'm picturing sitting at the sushi bar, the chef working his mastery around the rice and sashimi, serving one piece of art at a time. Hatsuhana (my 2nd time being here) is a box they bring to your table. Yes it looks pretty and it's cheaper than a traditional omakase. However for me it loses the "chefs tasting" aspect of it. Also the taste of the sushi itself was ok. Not amazing as I've been to some places that have blown my mind. Regardless, good place, cool ambiance and amazing staff.

Hatsuhana was a great sushi experience. The fish seemed pretty fresh. The salmon carpaccio offer a good balance of savory and acidity. The box of dreams had a large variety of seafood. Each bite felt distinct and made me crave the next piece. The toro tekka don is great if youre big fan of tuna. you get the same tuna in the box of dreams so if youre just looking for a taste of tuna, the box of dreams is the way to go. I would not recommend the spicy crunchy maki. it was soggy by the time it arrived at the table and was drowned in the spicy mayo. you could not taste the shrimp, tuna, or salmon at all. overall the experience was pretty great. our server was very friendly and made sure our glasses were filled throughout the meal.

This has been my favorite sushi in all of New York city. However, tonight there was a server who had horrible body odor (not my server, he was great). It was extremely distracting throughout the entire meal because I was trying to figure out where it's coming from and I finally pinpointed it when my server confirmed it. The manager did not seem to care very much unfortunately. He apologized and offered nothing else. I explained that I've eaten here many many times and this was a really disappointing experience. He apologized but it felt like he was just trying to placate me. I personally grew up in the restaurant business and worked everywhere except the kitchen. Whenever there was an issue, management tries to make it right and offers something, anything, a drink, desert. I want to come back but I don't think I will for a very long time because of how management responded to this concern. My server was amazing and he remembered to wear deodorant. The food is excellent, make no mistake about it but tonight's dinner was disappointing for reasons above.

Everything was fantastic! The chef was very friendly, but the staff seemed a bit rude, possibly because they were too busy. However, the sushi was the best I’ve ever had!

It's been a very long time since I've eaten here and the place has hardly changed. The sushi is still very good, the service still excellent, but the atmosphere feels a bit duller; the space definitely needs some updating. The sushi was still very good, although the rice was a bit inconsistent; some parts of my sushi rice was a bit al dente. Excellent freshness, the ikura was nicely seasoned, the scallops and shrimp were incredibly tasty, as was the rest. The tuna was a bit less memorable, normally otoro is a bit more oily and buttery, but this cut wasn't quite what I'd hoped. Our waiter was very attentive, loved that he spoke Japanese; helped keep my dad using his native tongue which he hardly gets to do outside of home. Overall this will always be a special place for me, memories of when I was a kid and my dad would bring back home sushi after long work days in the city. Still lives up to those memories and hopefully next time will be just as good if not better.

Posted late. Considering the Manhattan location, the sushi was very satisfying in terms of taste and price. The staff's warm hospitality was also appreciated.

Make sure to make a reservation.. place was packed Monday night.. I had made a reservation but didn't realize i needed to call ahead for omakase and did not get seating for omakase. Also I made the mistake of assuming they would cater to my partner's gluten allergy - they did accommodate some of our requests and provided us with GF soy sauce but a lot of menu items could not be made gluten free (this is on me!) We ordered the magic box, sushi and sashimi combo and more sushi/sashimi ala carte. Also had some sake.. it was all quite good. Our server was excellent! They also brought us some complimentary mochi for me partner's birthday. All in all - a good experience and would recommend it for anyone who can enjoy the full experience i.e. no allergies.

I had high hopes coming here. The space itself is quite charming - intimate with a touch of retro vibe. But unfortunately, that ended up being the highlight of my experience. We tried their Box of Fantasies. While beautifully plated and made with fresh ingredients, the flavors fell a bit flat. The seasoning throughout was too subtle, making each bite feel underwhelming. Even the sushi rice could have used a touch of rice vinegar for balance. The service, while polite, felt a bit distant and impersonal, with long stretches between check-ins during our meal. I had hoped to enjoy this experience more, but it left something to be desired.

Hatsuhana’s signature Box of Dreams gives us a bite of everything. ⭐️ Food: 3.6 /5 Very fresh ingredients. We like the quality of sashimi and we can try everything in this Box of Dreams includes 9 different miniature bowls. Great presentation and details. Overall experience is good, nothing too surprising for us considering the price is on a higher side. ⭐️ Service: 4/5 The waiters are nice and very helpful ⭐️ Environment: Casual with clean modern design incorporated lots of light wood. A comfortable and cozy environment. They have 2 floors, but we still recommend a small ground due to the tight seating situation. ⭐️ Price: $$$ The portion is decent, and the price as well. They have a lunch menu for the box of dreams which is slightly cheaper but doesn’t make a big difference.

I gave this a 3 because the food was not the best sushi we have had and it wasn’t the worse. It was a subjective average. We ordered the edamame—it was lukewarm and some of it was cold, the Green Salad with ginger dressing—dressing was watery, Tempura—it was ok, light batter but not much flavor. We also ordered several rolls—spicy tuna, spicy Salmon, yellowtail, avocado and cucumber rolls. The tuna and salmon did not excite the palette and the wasabi was mild. The vegetable rolls didn’t have enough sesame seeds and the Nori on all was tough. We have had better experiences but the service was good and the staff were very nice.

Fairly disappointed based on price. $70 for an assortment of sushi that wasn’t that fresh or unique and a beer. Service took forever to acknowledge me and take my order when they weren’t that busy.

i tried hatsuhana and the sushi was not the freshest. thought it was a fluke and tried again, but again it was not the freshest. i was surprised that they chose to garnish the salmon sushi with lemon--it not only cured the fish but also seemed to mask the subpar freshness. tried some sushi a la carte and some where hits some were misses. they provide matcha tea (not just green tea) that is a lovely accompaniment to the meal.

Had the lunch special. Some pieces of sushi had warm, not really fresh fish that turned into a gluey texture when chewing instead of just melting away. Some pieces were OK. Maybe I have been spoiled by Japan but I had higher expectations for a spot so renowned in NYC. Service was friendly.

I cannot recommend Hatsuhana — the fish was questionable and tasted off, it was extremely loud at lunchtime, and everyone had to wait even if they made a reservation for their table. Overpriced for the poor quality in food and experience unfortunately.

The sushi was really bad and way overpriced. The box of dreams was more like a box of disappointment. The matsu, chef's selection, was disappointing as well. The sushi tasted like it was from those cheap sushi places.

Let me start with the backstory. My family and I came from another country, in our country it is not customary to leave tips, tips are already written into the bill itself and you do not have to add. This was our lunch with my family, the first day in America. Everything was atmospheric, cozy, the food of course was not 100%, but it was enough for lunch. Why I was shocked when they brought me the bill, I paid without adding a tip, to which they did not even explain to me that this is customary here, that you need to leave a tip everywhere and always, they did not try to explain to me politely, they stopped me before leaving and did not let me leave until I wrote a tip (the smallest tip was $ 40, our bill came to $ 270). They rudely told me that I HAD to choose one of the tip options, I did not understand, they only told me no, you will choose. It seemed very strange to me. I wrote an 18% tip and left. After asking my friends, they explained it to me and I understood what was going on. But I was simply shocked by the staff's impudence. The question is, if this was my last money and I had already given almost $300 for the bill, what money would I have given for a tip? If I came with my family to try your cuisine, then why are you aggressively demanding something from me? In general, this has never happened to me before, after this situation I will of course leave a tip everywhere, but to be honest at that moment I would not have given a cent for a tip after such impudence.

Complete let down!! From google map to waking in. Very different vibe, get-to-the-point service and slim thumb-size sushi were the breaking point… just here for decent food… ya know. And wine - bad and the glass… (see it yourself). Paid and left disappointed. However, went to the bathroom upstairs and it’s felt like a total restaurant and vibe , not sure what’s going on here but … I would stay away if you wanna have a nice experience (or ask to sit upstairs)Z

The food is ok for American standards but the service is rushed and rude! I made a 7pm reservation for 2 at the sushi bar last night and I arrived 30 mins earlier while my friend is running late due to work. However the host made me wait way beyond my reservation time while letting few walk ins in first because they won’t seat people unless all parties are there. Even when I told him I will order drinks. I approached him again after losing my patience and finally got seated as if he was doing me a ‘favor’ that is the exact term he used. Long story short, my friend and I both ordered the 15pc omakase and a bottle of sake with a bill of total ~$400. I had to start the course first because the server was rushing me and the chefs were doing small talks behind the counter. Sure my friend was late, but I did ordered a bottle of sake and a starter, it was not like I am taking up 2 seats for nothing. My friend joined later near 8pm and we both felt the entire course was rushed, the chef was serving us 2-3 sushi’s at the same time so he can finish the job asap! What’s the point for omakase ? At the end, the server neglected that there were 2 cards to split the bill and charged everything on one card because he wanted to kick us out asap so he had no time to do the math! Worst service in NYC, even McDonald and burger kings have superior level of hospitality.
