Top notch and fresh sushi. Their ingredients are on point. Certainly will be back for more handrolled bites.
The most delicious hand rolls, and the most delicious sake! Great for one person or a large group! One of my favorite restaurants in New York.
Great sushi with excellent service!! Stopped in around 12pm on a Saturday, luckily was able to be seated in the back. Ordered 12 hand rolls, all were delicious. The chef and waitress to very kind and attentive. Anything you ordered came out in seconds. As soon as I finished a roll, chef was preparing another. They are about 3 -4 bite sizes but oooo sooo good!
KazuNori is easily one of the best handroll spots in Manhattan. The food is outstanding, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly executed. Every handroll was simple yet exceptional, which really lets the quality of the ingredients shine. The service was just as impressive, fast, friendly, and attentive without feeling rushed. Everything about the experience was smooth and enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend Kazunori and will be coming back.
It is relatively a small sushi restaurant/bar. Sushi is freshly hand rolled with the warm rice right in front of you. We had different 6-hand rolls and The Nozie- all rolls were fresh and tasty. The sashimi menu is very limited, literaly 3-4 choices only. The sitting situation are stools by the bar, no tables or chairs at least at W 28th St location. I'd go there for lunch or brunch unless you like to order a lot of sushi for dinner. Big plus was that we walked in without any wait which, as I was told, a common situation.
Sleek design, that conveys intention rather than default minimalizm. There was a wait of about 20-30 min for my party of 2. When we were sat, the man behind the counter was helpful in explaining the menu along with answering any questions. I would describe the service the entire time we were in the building to be friendly and unobtrusive. The sushi was delicious. The toro was my favorite, and my friend had an exciting and unique salmon sashimi. Overall, there are not bold flavors, so you do need to eat with a bit of intention to fully appreciate it. The price is not the cheapest thing in the world, but I do consider it to be a great value, especially considering the built-in gratuity and the fact that it's in central Manhattan. I had a nice time for $37pp. On our way out, we passed 2-3 employees who all told us "thank you."
One of my favourites in the city. Always come for a casual dinner. There is a line most of the times but it goes quick. They do pick out smaller groups like ones or twos, so I wouldn’t come here with a large group or you might wait a longer time. The hand rolls are delicious and the rice is warm. Service is quick and efficient, you’re never waiting too long between rolls.
KazuNori never fails to disappoint me! Clearly a top notch place to enjoy some handrolls, and why not, some sashimis! This time, we tried their daily specials: monkfish liver and sea bass sashimi, their classic toro sashimi (fatty tuna) and some of their rolls! From the rolls, definitely the toro and yellowtail were the stars of the show, but honestly, everything that we tried was just amazing. I just wished they gave us some seaweed to enjoy the toro sashimi properly, but other than that we had a smooth dining experience. They do not take reservations, and at peak hours queues get a little bit crazy - but definitely worth it!
Out shopping?! these light hand rolls are perfect and right on time. Mmmm I can’t stop thinking about them. The ambiance at the bar was awesome. It’s like one big happy family eating together. The wait is worth it!!!! Make sure to have some Saki with your hand rolls. ✨✨✨😉🥂
I don’t even know where to start with this place. My friend had been hyping it up for months, and I finally made it there on the last day of my New York trip. Let me tell you, it was pure food heaven. Every single hand roll was a masterpiece. You feel full after two, but your brain keeps saying one more, and you just can’t stop. The lobster roll totally stole the show. And I absolutely loved their authentic Japanese touch of kindly reminding guests not to tip, which is such a rare and classy move in the US. From the first bite to the last, this place is a perfect 10 out of 10.
Passed this place many times in the evening and there was always a super long line outside. Today at lunch we were finally able to get in without much of a wait. The hand rolls were perfect. We did the 4 roll special with iced green tea and it was delicious. Service was great and speedy. Food delicious. Atmosphere excellent. Also, love that they state this is no tip restaurant. note: This is not good for larger groups; 2-3 people tops as it’s counter service. My pictures were not good but the food was excellent
This was my 3rd attempt on a Friday. The place gets packed pretty quick since the open at 11:30 am for lunch at 12 noon. I had the special room which was bass liver, and a hand roll and bass sashimi. Very flavorful and yet very delicate. No soy sauce needed for any rools to be honest, even the rice is delicious and I am not a rice fan to begin with so means a lot. Overall an amazingly simple and yet indulgent experience, a must try.
It is a counter bar style, so ideally it’s good for those who eats alone or with another person. We were a group of three people and it was ok. The food was very delicious I ordered chef’s special for $37. You can order single roll or a set of 2,3,4,5, or6. The chef s special has 6 rolls. I was so full by the 3rd roll! The servers were very pleasant.
Excellent hand roll sushi place with fantastic ambiance and service, despite being a no tip establishment. Very reasonably priced. Ankimo (daily special) and Ko Ika (squid) were especially enjoyable for this born-and-raised Japanese. They deliver one roll at a time so you can enjoy the freshly rolled. When we arrived, there were maybe 10 people ahead of us on Saturday around 3:45. The line moved relatively quickly so don’t let the line intimidate you. One way to tell the legitimacy of sushi roll is the quality of seaweed. It has to be crispy crunchy that you can easily bite with your teeth and doesn’t get bunched up in your mouth. This place delivered great!!
This spot is walk-ins only with no reservations, and the wait on a Friday night was about 30 minutes to an hour. Friendly staff and good service. The handrolls are very filling because they use a lot of rice, about the size of a small snowball in each hand roll. I ordered six rolls, and that ended up being a bit too much for me. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. The lighting is fine for dining, but it’s not great for taking photos. Personally, I’m not a big fan of when the protein is chopped up and mixed with mayo. I prefer it served on its own with the sushi rice. For example, the scallop, crab, and lobster were all mixed with a mayo sauce.
A simple but really satisfying maki spot for a quick, tasty meal. There was a bit of a wait, but once the food came out, it totally made sense why people line up. Nothing overcomplicated — just fresh ingredients, clean flavors, and comforting bites. Easy, casual, and definitely worth the wait.
It’s my little dream to visit the original hand-roll places in NYC where they inspire a lot of hand-roll places in Bangkok. KazuNori is one on the list. We chose this branch as we passed by. The queue is quite long for dinner. We waited for over 40 mins before we got seated. I didn’t go with the set but chose an individual hand-roll that interested me. My bf did ordered the set and definitely worth $$. The sushi rice is perfectly vinegared. Not too sour. Wasabi was already added for you so don’t make the mistake like I did. I love their yellowtail the most. But I think you can go whatever you like. Oh! And if you’re not big eater like I am, you can ask for small rice/less rice so you can enjoy every bites without being too stuffed.
