Greco's is a neighborhood treasure. Everything on the menu is delicious and eating from their cafe is like eating at the best Italian grandmother cook's kitchen. Their deli is amazing with an array of delicious cheeses, meats and Italy and specialties. Can only give it 5 stars but it deserves 6.
A true NYC classic. Excellent food. Very fresh and delicious. An amazing place. Just excellent. Highly recommended
They made me a great sandwich of sweet soprasata, hot capacollo, sun-dried tomatoes, and sharp provolone. Incredible. The sandwich guy cut the provolone into small hunks rather than sliced, so you'd get a sharp cheese taste when bitting down on one. Really pro touch. The quality of all the ingredients was absolute top. It's worth the visit up to the Bronx.
This place is amazing. The sandwiches are out of this world and the atmosphere makes you feel like you have gone back in time. I cant wait to come back.
OMG I can't even begin to say have phenomenal Mike's deli is. It has been a while since I've been here but stopped for a quick sandwich before heading out to South Jersey and OMG it was incredible I forgot how good this place was. Plus the atmosphere in the of course is always phenomenal but Mike's makes the best sandwich I have ever eaten. Highly recommend
First review of Mike's, but I've ordered many times over the years. Transplanted to MD years ago and Mike's never disappoints, sending me amazing/perfect food to enjoy. Just received my Pizza Rustica along with some prosciutto and a few other things so I can make the sandwiches that I miss. Thanks for the memories of home guys!! AMAZING as always!!!
Had the big ben sandwich and it was packed to the brim; fed two of us. Would def revisit and try their other sandwiches. Also try their fresh mozz
We visited Mike's while we waited for a table to open up at Enzo's. We ordered up some Mortadella, Prosciutto Parma and some porchetta. It was all so delicious and it was really the first time my daughter had Italian cured meats like this and she was very impressed. The staff was very friendly and helpful
As an Italian American I can safely say this is the best Italian deli in New York City! I'm only upset I haven't visited sooner. The big Mike Combo was by far the best hero sandwich I've ever had! Everything was perfectly proportioned and every bite had the perfect amount of every ingredient. The roll was perfectly soft and tender inside and perfect crispness on the outside. Just fantastic! The linguine carbonara was as good as any high-end Italian restaurant and I was shocked how superb it was for just a casual deli. Again, everything came together flawlessly. The pasta was cooked to a perfect al-dente. The sauce wasn't too thin or thick. Just wonderful! Service was warm and friendly. We were even asked by the owner how everything was. Though our empty plates obviously proved everything was great! This is a must visit if you're in the mood for the best Italian sandwiches you'll find anywhere and anything else Italian you desire. You can't go wrong.
All I have to say is that this place doesn’t only make the best sandwiches but their service is phenomenal. I just ordered 5 sandwiches directly from the deli on the phone and dealt with a lovely person named Anna, who works there to see if she could put it in an Uber for me to deliver it to my house in New Jersey. It was a quick and easy experience with Anna’s assistance . All they do at this deli is satisfy the customers to the max. Thanks again!!!
Dave and his staff are phenomenal! From the moment you walk in you feel like family. The samples and the service are above and beyond Every. Single. Time. It’s worth the 1 1/2 hour drive!
The workers there are friendly. Offered me a cheese sample which was good. The Chicken Milanese was very delicious. The chicken cutlet was seasoned very well, not bland at all. The Italian bread was just right too, not too hard and not too soft. I will definitely come back to try out the other sandwiches and dishes on the menu.
I think the owner was behind the counter when I came by. You could tell he really loves what he does. He was giving out samples of freshly made mozzarella and chatting with all of the customers. Classic spot with great quality offerings.
Ordered a veal parm hero because I hadn't had one in years; this was so worth it!! Another person ordered the eggplant parm and raved about it. We sat in and had some wine, coffee and shared a yummy cannoli. A great experience reminiscent of my childhood that bears repeating!
Fresh food ALWAYS, and great customer service to answer any and all questions
I always get the yankee stadium big boy and it is better each time I order it . The service is second to none . They always make you feel like family . The cheese selection is amazing. I love the hot sausage in oil . And the calabrese cheese is amazing especially if you like a little spice . Can’t wait until my next visit . Thank you to Dave and the crew .
We had the pleasure of meeting Mike himself whereupon he asked were we eating all of his prosciutto which we answered yes. What a phenomenal experience. The penne vodca with bread kept me at the table where it was 12 of us. Thank you Mike for letting my Floridian
Atmosphere off the charts. David runs an amazing deli. Mikes deli is the best. The staff is the best very helpful you don't leave hungry.. the fresh mozzarella (mutz) is great......
Did some Father’s Day shopping on the Ave. It was a great day hitting all the usually spots. Perfect lunch at Mike’s, David is the King of the Market!! His eggplant parm is outstanding as well as the chicken with tomato, homemade mozzarella. The location is very unique and the energy in the market is very cool.
This deli was unexpectedly one of the most pleasant experiences I’ve had while grabbing lunch working around NYC. The people here are very welcoming and pleasant. While I was waiting for my sandwich the guy that took my order was cutting meat for my sandwich and he’d give me a piece of whatever he was cutting to try and everything he handed me was fresh and delicious. After being given a bunch of deli meats to try a guy came over with tiny cups of red wine and was handing them out to all the customers waiting on their food. The sandwich itself was top tier and definitely one of the best I’ve had. I’ll definitely be returning next time in the area
We had a dinner birthday party with Mikes Deli and Catering and it was FANTASTIC! Anna is absolutely incredible. She is accurate, precise, careful, thoughtful and creative. The food was outstanding. My guests raved and were particularly impressed with the beautiful antipasto trays and the filet mignon at dinner.
I am embarrassed to say that I grew up in NYC and that my grandmother lived around the corner on Southern Boulevard and I didn't even know about Mike's Deli until I was visiting and stopped into the market to pick up some cannolis for my cousins. I have a lot of lost time and sandwiches to make up for on future visits. I had the Bobby D sandwich which was deelish and then a perfect espresso. I would have gotten a photo of the sandwich but I was just so hungry! We were served by the origin Mike's grandson and he couldn't have been more generous even though he was absolutely slammed with business. This place is classic and not to be missed whether you're a local or just visiting like me lol
This is the place for amazing food! Do not let the word 'deli' mislead you, this is beyond sliced meat, cheese and sandwiches. The food is always fresh and delicious, we've come to Belmont every Saturday from CT for over a year enroute to family in Queens, starting as the weekly grocery run for family staying in due to Covid. We have tried every restaurant and shop in the area, see my reviews for the best and worst of the neighborhood. Mike's, Madonia Bakery and Teitel are the trifecta. Mike's food is amazing ...they beat Bobby Flay in the eggplant parm competition, and yes, they deserved to win! Anything you choose is delicious, they do not cut corners. Do yourself a favor, call ahead to order, the lines can be long! Plenty of meats and cheeses to pick from, ask for recommendations. Seasonal items like pizza rustica, homemade wine and pasta con sarde are always special treats. They have fresh prosecco on tap if you're hanging out - they have some seating inside and out, pre Covid sipping peach prosecco while waiting for our to go order was the BEST! You can order their food in single to family sized portions, we load up...family size eggplant and chicken parm with a pound of fresh ricotta is amazing (serve the ricotta cold on the plate with your hot food, it's delicious) Our favorites...Il Montone Ram special hero chicken, eggplant, prosciutto, mozzarella, onion and peppers or the Bronx Tale mortadella, mozzarella, provolone hero...amazing. Try bringing home scamortza (dried fresh mozzarella) and roasting like a marshmallow....you will never believe how good that is! Tried the pasta con sarde avail only in March...my Mom said it's second best only to her Grandmother's (so how great does that have to be, you'll never beat your favorite dish by grandma!) Highly recommend
The best sandwich in the whole entire New York City delicious and Very appetizing
Heyyyy, Mikes Deli forget about it. Best Deli in the BX. I highly recommend everyone to visit Mikes 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome delicious food, Beautiful People, and most of all, it's Author Avenue.
Dave made me two Italian combo subs Saturday. They had so much meat they wouldn't fold closed. Dave fresh sliced each kind of delicious meat. Bread, greens, tomato, olives, peppers, etc were all fresh and very tasty. I also bought stuffed bread, dried sausages and fresh mozzarella. It's a 75 mile ride but I'll be at Mike's Deli any chance I can.
My name is Ben Finch. I’ve been going to Mikes Deli for 30 years. I travel an hour just to go down there to get the best hero. You can imagine. I’ve never been disappointed in anything I’ve ever gotten from Mikes Deli. Mike is no longer with us but his son Dave Keeps the family business going and thriving. He treats everybody like family always gives out samples. Always a nice word to say I would definitely give Mikes Deli five stars, courteous, fast and clean and only the best meats and cheeses you can get thank you Dave you and your crew. Keep up the good work. I hope to be coming down for another 30 years to get the best hero around.👌🏻🍷
What a wonderful deli. I was there during the Ferragosto festival and it was definitely worth the trip from Manhattan. The two sandwiches I tried were delicious, freshly made, with high quality ingredients. It is also a family business that the son of the founder is keeping alive. A wonderful story of successful immigrants. Love the food, love the place and the neighborhood. I will definitely come back.
I took my 92 year old father there today. He was born in Castrofilipo, Sicily. He saw the tripe in the butcher showcase and asked me if they offered it for lunch. I went to Mike's counter and asked and they did. I ordered it for him and I tasted it. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered the eggplant sandwich that beat Bobby Flay, it was also delicious. Thank you for beating Bobby. I live on Long Island and I can't wait to go back. My father loved the tripe. We ordered a takeout for him to have next week.
I have shot that this family run business for at least\nTwo decades Was better than satisfactory results. The variety they have in cheeses, sandwiches.\nPlace, fun and I appreciate the value of the foods they create\nIn serve you. This sandwich is a very good. If you've never been give it a try. Welcome choices different types of cheeses to add-on to my spaghetti sauce and it's always been met with satisfaction.StopBy enjoy old world of secret sauces i'm sure you will leave with a smile.
I was visiting from Miami & my friend took me here in November. I was traumatized how good the sandwiches are , i was so impressed that when i visited San Francisco for new years i went to a high rated deli and it wasn’t even close to Mikes deli . Now in January i got to go back and now i took some new friends 🤣❤️😂. From now on i have to go each time i go to NY 🙌🏼
I always bigup Mike's Deli , delicious food! Huge sandwiches. They always have samples. Selections change throughout the seasons, Christmas time is always the best to get your traditional goodies. 10/10 love this place.
My dad and I ordered the Forza Italia via Uber eats. And to say this is by far the best PROSCIUTTO SANDWICH I'VE EVER HAD 😋, the fresh mozzarella is out of this world. The hero is definitely enough to fill 2 people but I doubt anyone would want to share lol HATS OFF TO YOU GUYS
The best place for Italian goodies. The pizza is some of the best anywhere and they make a pie in about 5 or 10 minutes. The sandwiches are amazing from the deli. I always pop in here when I go to NY and bring back a ton of food. Huge selection of hams and cheeses. I order from here when I’m home and they ship several items you can find on their website. A Bronx classic and must visit.
This is the best spot in Arthur Ave Market, this place is God sent from Heaven to gift the world with their fresh warm mozzarella samples as you stand or look around to see what to order. This gave me goosebumps when I was handed a small piece of fresh, just made mozzarella. The taste was incredible, I had to take back home with me 1lb of mozzarella! And dont get me started on the walnut & honey percino was deliciousssss and with some wine! Chef's kiss! They have so much goodness to pick from you can't go wrong with anything you order from and the service was A+ .. Friendliest, sweetest people, love my native Bronx peeps! 👌🔥🇮🇹
We’ve been here several times and it was just amazing every single time. Food is delicious and fresh. Not only can get grinders or sandwiches. You can get all sorts of pasta deliciousness. They have olives. They have so many meats that you can buy also. Make sure that you stop at this place. It’s not posh but it is New York and wonderful.
The market is an experience. You need to go there to see for yourself. The food is phenomenal. Get pizza, espresso, sandwiches, veggies, and more. You can also get hand rolled cigars. It's a must-see. Take a trip through The Bronx's Little Italy, you won't regret it.
Delicious sandwiches, my little one even tried a bite!
Awesome sandwiches and pasta dishes. You can even take home their pasta sauces. My favorite is the spicy vodka sauce. The son of the old owner is so friendly. I visit her often with my co workers.
Its was very busy on this Saturday morning, I got A. This is flexibility, chicken sub. I ate half and had the other half yesterday for my dinner. It was really good and we had at the Gart botanical gardens.
Our sandwich was really good and HUGE! One was great to share for 2 people. We also purchased, roasted peppers, and marinated artichokes (they could have used a little bit more flavor). Everyone at the counter was super friendly! We'll definitely visit them again! ***parking sucks in this area of the Bronx 😩😩***
We stopped in for dinner and were able to get a table. The eggplant parm is super delicious. I tried the carbonara and it wasn’t personally to my taste. The service was friendly and swift.
What a great place this is. This is the true "little Italy" in the 5 boroughs. Authur ave in the bronx still has some real gems with great Italian food. Mike's is one of them. Located in the back of the aurhur ave market, you can get everything from great Italian heroes to antipasto. We had their regular antipasto and their seafood antipasto. Both really good. I wish the seafood antipasto had a little more seafood, but it was still good. Shout out to the service, great job!
The sandwiches are okay. Italian combo had two peppers for an entire sandwich...really? Flavor was mediocre at best. Which is disappointing for the price and legacy this place has. Meat platter had two smallest pieces of fresh mozzarella. The rest were refrigerator dried meats and cheeses. Not very appetizing for $14. They have good cheese but I can go to Casa Della Mozzarella where they sell better sandwiches and don’t try to cheat you from mozzarella and good meats. Honesty and treatment of customer is more important.
I have a feeling the place sold out to the tourists. More power to them. Highlight was the penne with marinara sauce, simple but exceptional. I think my expectations for the eggplant Parm and meatballs were too high. Had better in Jersey. Value for the eggplant Parm was dismal especially after noticing the customers eggplant Parm hero which was packed gloriously. I doubt I'll come back since the trek to the Bronx from Queens is a pain.
Service was very friendly but quality/taste of food and atmosphere have declined. Got 3 hero sandwiches and they were mediocre at best. Unfortunate bc Mike’s has been a staple in the Bronx for years.
Had a sandwich hero and it cost me $23. I was better off spending the money at cats. Don't get me wrong. That's where you pay when you're on tick tock but I can't see him staying in business that long. Is this you? Try it for the first time and you realize the hype was bullshit
One of favorites until recently. There is nothing worse than poor customer service. Our last visit there is bought some cheese. It was a Saturday. We attempted to eat the cheese but it was inedible. We threw it away. They are closed Sunday so I called 1st thing Monday. I told the girl my issue. She asked me to hold. Got back on and said I apologize but we got some bad curd and the cheese did not come out right. Well why did you sell it? First she said she would ship me more. I said no need. I'll hold onto the container and next time I come you can just replace with the same amount. Again asked to hold. Got back on and now says sorry, there is nothing we can do. How did we go from shipping me replacement to doing nothing? So, now for 12.00 he has lost me as a customer. I spent $160.00 that day. His loss
So I would’ve given this place five stars because the eggplant parm hero was one of the best I’ve had. However, why does a deli feel the need to put their politics on the menu? I don’t need to know that you are rooting for Trump in the 2024 election…keep your politics to yourself. I go to eat out and enjoy my time away from all the nonsense.
Great sandwiches. I bought a cheese here that normally I got from Italy but I'm unable to find it. Anyone in the US. I'm sure they know this because the cheese was way overpriced. Fortunately I have found some place in New Jersey that's half the price.
We love stopping here when visiting Arthur Avenue, but this latest encounter was a big disappointment, due to the surly, inexcusably rude service at the counter. Two of the guys who waited on us were polite and helpful, bringing our lunch to a nearby table. Since the subs at Mike's Deli are notoriously generous, we needed take-out containers and bags. Upon our return to the counter to ask for them, we were met by an older woman with streaked blonde hair who snapped at us as if we were ruining her day with such an outrageous request. When she gave us a paper bag (no handles) for two big containers, I insisted we get a plastic bag. We had more shopping to do and carrying an inadequate paper bag wouldn't cut it. She practically threw the plastic bag at me and glared hatefully at us. What a horrible person. She should not be let near the public. Keep her in the back with the food. Oh, how we long for the days of Michele's smiling face as he sung opera in Italian to visitors. Back in those days, customers were appreciated, not resented. Cross this one off the list. Let us know when the counter help have been properly schooled.
While the atmosphere is good and the service is great, nothing compensates for rats in their 8/27/25 health inspection and the high prices. There are a few other close places with rats in inspections. Find another area of the city to dine. I may be back after a couple clean inspections
My negative review is to share the high prices of the same product, compared to : De Cicco, Local Deli, and Balducci’s, and how a product is treated. I purchased a provolone because it is not made there but imported. I was charged 21.36 for provolone auricchio where the same , exact product, same size is 13.00 at all the places I mentioned. Thinking that by driving to Arthur Avenue would save money? It’s not the case. One more upsetting thing , more than the price, a while ago, I saw a worker, by the back door, using gas in a metal barrel to ‘ affumicare the provole, when I showed my disbelief he said ‘ that is how I am told to do it’. The team is friendly, very friendly and nice. Some clients may not care about prices or eating mozzarella fumed over gasoline, but for those who care, there are choices!
Sandhwich tasted like poisen. Absolutely awful. Spent 28 on the sandwich too, was all pumped. And it smelt and tasted terrible. Had to throw most of it out. Terrible experience especially after driving 25 min to get there :(
We were there on Friday, January 10th, 2025. I ordered a chicken cutlet parm, found a dead roach in the sandwich. This has never happened to me before. This place is disgusting and needs to be condemned. The place is filthy and infested with roached and mice. The Board of Health needs to close it down. People will get sick.
I used to love this place. I’ve been coming here for years, until they sent me burned food. I contacted Uber Eats and they REFUSED to credit me back, even with a picture of the item. Told me to reach out to the deli. I did. I spoke to a woman who took my order information and said that she would make sure that I didn’t get charged. I gave them a couple of weeks but I still got charged anyway and never received a refund for the burned food. She said they were short staffed, and did apologize, but that’s no excuse for sending out inedible food. The star is for the cannoli and the Italian soda. VERY DISSATISFIED !
Called to inquire about catering prices for an 150+ event we have coming up. Was told "call ME back at 3" given that it was the lunch rush. Understandable. I asked for her name so that i knew who to ask for given that she said "me" and not "us" to which she paused, sucked her teeth and hung up the phone.
The prosciutto is decent and mozz is decent but not a good option considering joes deli and casa Della mozzarella nearby. It’s average deli quality but the owner is very friendly with a lot of regulars. The owner hypes up a lot of the meat and selection and in my two experiences here .25lb became .4 .5lb became .7 which I found a little annoying. Not bad but shouldn’t have the reputation as an Arthur ave staple.
Not sure which is worse - the food, the price or the owner. Terrible catering experience that ruined my mother’s 60th surprise party. They delivered the wrong dish and what I can only describe as lasagna ‘soup’ - picture below. It was a terribly embarrassing ordeal. When I called the day after to try and get the 2 wrong / inedible items refunded the staff and owner called me a liar and refused to make any refund or slight gesture of being sorry (despite sending them photographic evidence). The food that was delivered correctly was mediocre at best. Save yourself the trouble and order elsewhere for an event. Arthur Avenue is filled with tremendous food and businesses. Really nasty people here!
I was looking for an Italian sandwich place and this one came up on Google Mike's Deli. When I got there I was greeted with a menu then I went ahead and ordered a pastrami roll with a Coke as I waited I was asked whether I wanted to pay cash or credit when I asked how much it was it was $20 I think with everything going on and these local businesses rising prices ridiculously high will drive the economy to the floor I would say stay away from this place consistent with high prices not too good of quality and overall bad experience. Response to the owner: I believe in fair pricing and good customer service. My comment about the prices was based on my personal experience, not an attack on your business. Instead of assuming bad intentions, a conversation would have been more productive. I wish you success, but respect goes both ways. Supporting small businesses doesn’t mean blindly accepting high prices or dismissive service. I came in as a paying customer, not an adversary. Instead of engaging in a conversation, you assumed bad intentions and responded with hostility. A business thrives not just on quality ingredients but also on how it treats its customers. I hope you reflect on this, because respect and good service are just as important as the food you serve and by the way your pastrami isn't that good at all ...very dried and then overcooked.
Absolutely TERRIBLE place and HORRIBLE SERVICE and OWNERS ARE AWFULL!!! I ordered sandwich that suppose to be with pesto sauce and balsamic vinaigrette which he didn’t bother to put on, and when I confront him he yell at me saying that he did put some! Also, there was big chunk of hard plastic or glass was in my sandwich and he said that it’s comes with prosciutto! And worst of all he didn’t want to refund my money and my tip! I don’t care if you 40 year Olin business,it’s DISGUSTING OWNER AND PLACE ALL TOGETHER! Make sure to check your order, otherwise they stealing your money by falsely claiming about their menu!!! So nasty boss lady with running nose, that she wipes and touches the food, and Mike refused to give my money back by saying that they prepared soup for me… and I have to take it! Yes,that’s right, and it take 25 min! I don’t trust that place anyway! So now my money plus tips on disputes! It’s a filthy place that doesn’t deserve your business!!! There is plenty Italian nice and clean places to go to!
The Spanish male employee here has a very bad attitude towards customers. I tried a sample of cheese there, and he asked me why I was eating it without asking.l gave him $1 for rude service. The service is absolutely terrible. This place is not worth spending money on. There are much better Italian markets around with better service. (The person with the blue hat in the picture) STAY AWAY FROM THEM!
I was so excited to order a sandwich from here the other day. I’ve been coming since I was little and always loved it. Unfortunately, the chicken in my order was old, discolored, and smelled rotten. It was really disappointing and honestly concerning someone could get seriously sick from that. I’ll definitely think twice before ordering again. Honestly, just look at the photos again disgusts me.
