Dropped in this past Sunday for breakfast/brunch. Picked it out randomly from Google Maps. Had a wonderful meal in a bright, cheerful atmosphere. Service was great. Shown is the Montrealer breakfast sandwich. Deeelicious😁! Glad we stopped in!
Found this location after googling "brunch near me" on Sunday. Greeted at the door by a hostess who warmly informed us that due to capacity maximum the wait would be 30-40 mins. We were surprised to be informed our table for 4 was available after a 20 minute wait. Temperature were taken as required. Restroom was cleanliness was decent. Our waitress, Laura, was an absolute delight. Attentive but not over bearing and we greatly appreciated her service. FYI the pancake stack is large and wide.
OMG the pizza is phenomenal. The pasta is delicious too. Such a nice cozy spot in our neighborhood which we are so proud of! Thank you!
Food is very good and the staff is so friendly. I’ve met the owner and she is so sweet. Truly understands what great hospitality is. Will definitely be coming back a lot.
We came with a (quite large) group of friends and had a wonderful time here. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection.
We came to support our local friend from the neighborhood, we really enjoyed our lunch. We ordered the Prosciutto Pizza and the bolognese lasagna, they were both delicious! I had a sparkling lemon water which was super refreshing. We also tried the salted caramel and chocolate ice cream. The waiter was super attentive and friendly. The space was well designed, cozy and welcoming.
Bonafini delivered an unforgettable lunch experience—elegant, comforting, and beautifully executed from start to finish. Every dish we tried was a standout, beginning with the Breakfast Pizza, which was a true revelation. The salmon pastrami paired with robiola and mozzarella was rich and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the roasted scallions and the creamy egg nestled in the center. The Lasagna was simply exceptional—layers of tender pasta, hearty beef & pork bolognese, velvety béchamel, and just the right amount of parmigiano. It was a warm, nostalgic dish elevated to a fine-dining level. We finished with an Affogato that struck the perfect balance between bitter espresso and silky gelato—a simple pleasure, executed flawlessly. The Mezcal Negroni mocktail was another surprise: smoky, complex, and incredibly satisfying even without the alcohol. A special mention must go to Anna, our Server, who brought the entire experience together. She was super enthusiastic in a genuine and sincere way—helpful, informative, and clearly passionate about the food and the restaurant. We sat in the backyard, which was quaint and cosy—a peaceful little escape that made the meal feel even more special. Bonafini manages to feel both sophisticated and deeply welcoming. The service was thoughtful and attentive without being overbearing. We’ll absolutely be back. This is the kind of place You instantly want to recommend to everyone You know.
Almost everything about this place is great. The food is delicious and filling. The natural light fills the restaurant beautifully. And our server Ann, was excellent, affable and checking in on us regularly. At first we were sat in a table in the very back looking at the storage space, but other seats opened up that gave us a real view of how nice the restaurant can be.
What an incredible gem on Flatbush! I’ve been meaning to come here for a while, and finally decided to pop in for brunch, and I’m so glad we did. The food was incredible and the service was so friendly and hospitable! We got blueberry Pancakes, the scramble with mushroom that was soooo good, and my sister got the sausage sandwich! We also got pressed juice!
Came for brunch and it was pretty good. Will definitely come back. The ginger cocktail was really good. Loved the hash browns. The shakshuka was okay - felt like it could have been a bit richer in flavor and thicker in consistency but it was still enjoyable. Best brunch I've had in this neighborhood. The server was incredibly friendly and helpful.
Tried this spot 3 times, the first time was about a year ago and we were very disappointed. Had 2 entrees and both pastas were underwhelming and bland. But the appetizer (veggies) was great! 2nd time was for brunch and again, just bland but portions were good. 3rd time was recent and we had a much better experience. Pastas and desserts were fine, and drinks were good. I’ll give it 4 stars for now and will definitely give it another try!
This is a small Italian restaurant in Brooklyn, but personally, it’s not a place I would visit again. I went on a date and didn’t have a chance to look at the menu beforehand, and my date didn’t ask about any dietary restrictions, so there were a lot of items I couldn’t eat. Most of the dishes were tomato-based, which I can’t consume. I ordered the calamari and zucchini, which were extremely oily and lacked flavor. The oil definitely affected my stomach later on that night. It felt like they were simply battered, fried, and served—no seasoning at all. My date had the pizza and seemed to enjoy it, but I wasn’t able to try it, so I can’t comment on it. Bread was offered to the table, and the drink options were pretty standard. The beer selection consisted of Italian beers. On a positive note, the waitress was very nice, and the restaurant itself was clean. They also serve I believe ice cream at the front. Overall, it just wasn’t the right fit for me. Maybe brunch would have been a different experience.
Ordered dinner and drinks, no appetizers. Waited 30 minutes, dinner was brought before the drinks. Drinks were brought about 10 minutes later. No real excuse given, they were not exceptionally busy. The Chicken Milanese was very good, but just came with a big pile of arugula and half of a very small cherry tomato.
Visiting Brooklyn, we were in the mood for brunch and stopped by Bonafini, an Italian spot. Even though it's primarily Italian, that didn't matter -- we went straight for American brunch classics. I had the pancakes, which came with blueberry compote, Greek yogurt, and hazelnut spread. My dining partner went for what I believe was the Sicilian Shakshuka -- tomato and vegetable stew, olives, bread, and eggs. The pancakes were solid: just the right amount of maple syrup. They were a little on the dry side, but still tasty, helped along by what seemed like Nutella or another chocolate-hazelnut sauce. Not mind-blowing, but satisfying and definitely hit the spot. Overall, a pleasant brunch -- we left full and happy. I'd be glad to come back the next time I'm in Brooklyn. Last visited: August 23, 2025
COME HERE IF U WANT TO WAIT A LONG TIME FOR FOOD AND NOT GET CHECKED ON AT ALL OR A CHANCE TO PUT IN ANOTHER ROUND OF DRINKS!! Came here today (Saturday) 11am, it was brunch on a weekend and we were able to get a table as a walk in. - P.S. I used to be a server and bartender so I understand delays and a slammed rush and weekend brunches - but this was so disappointing.. - We put in the food at 11:05 and it didn’t come till 11:50 why does two entrees one being French toast and one being eggs and bacon and crossiant with hash take almost 50 mins to make? The server used toast to put the food in when we ordered and fired it. I ordered a mimosa and my bf ordered a coffee, we didn’t once get checked on while we waited almost 50 mins for our food if we wanted another drink. And our server never came by to check in on us or let us know about the food delay or even acknowledge it. Never been to a place for brunch where they didn’t ask if u want another cup of coffee.. Food - ordered Montreal entree dish and French toast entree dish. The eggs we asked for over medium and they arrive fully cooked and COLD not runny at all! I think they were sitting out. French toast was good but room temp. We came here bc I live in the area and the front desk lady at bathhouse recommended this place to me and was a let down truly over weeks of anticipation to see what her rave was about. I will say the quality of the food like the taste of the Montreal dish was delicious and the French toast was okay but the hash browns were difficult to eat. I’ve never been somewhere where a server takes your order and u never see them again till u flag them down for the check.. side note we came here at 11am bc I had to leave to PA for the weekend to see my aunt in the hospital and my Amtrak was scheduled for 12:50, which I missed and lost a $100 train ticket because our food took to long to come and by the time we got the check to leave it was too late to make it to Penn. Never coming here for a brunch if this is the case. Will say it is cute inside but was embarrassed hyping this place to my bf to take me and try it with me just to experience all of this. Summary: cold eggs Room temp food Extremely poor service Very tight seating If you like these things then pls come here!
