We had a spectacular dinner and are about to bring family for a second meal of our NY visit. Delicious Sardinian pasta, superbly tender and flavorful lamb and a wonderful flatbread with sardines and spicy pepper made for an awesome meal, and we enjoyed an excellent Tiramusu for dessert. My wife doesn't normally drink red wine, but my Sardinian red was so tasty that she had to order one. Superb wait staff-- friendly, attentive and knowledgable (and Sardinian).
The servers here are so friendly and courteous, we definitely overstayed our welcome but they were not pushy or rude about it. Very cute atmosphere, few good options for vegetarians too.
i mean unreal. This is a hidden gem, i write this only because they deserve even more love then just me keeping this gem to myself. SOSOSOSOS good.
I had, without doubt, the most spectacular grilled octopus I’ve ever had when dining here. Crispy skin, absolutely tender inside. Friendly staff, a lovely experience all around.
This is one of the great restaurants of Williamsburg. The food is authentic Italian (Sardinian) that you wish you could get everywhere. The atmosphere is rustic and charming yet lively. The service is attentive and unpretentious. Great for date night or a group of friends/family. Favorite things on the menu include: flatbread, vegan meatballs (just trust me), malloredus, trofie, fregola, cavolfiore. Tiramisu is crazy good.
Food is delicious! Great apps, perfectly prepared pasta, savory grass-fed organic steak with a glass of wine. The staff is super attentive. This place never fails me!
Always amazing. Love the fregola, ordered bread with oo and what came out was thin crispy cracker like bread? Was not too fond of that for dipping- kinda defeated the whole purpose of bread and oo. The wait staff are nice and energetic. I would like to see cocktails on the menu. Also please bring back the octopus!:)
My favorite spot for fresh and flavorful Italian food. I mostly order the Burrata, the amazing Cavolini di Bruxelles and the Melanzane alla Parmigiana. The crazy thing is that they also have amazing vegan meatballs. Oh so delicious!
A wine bar serving an extensive list of wines from Italy. This is a local neighbourhood spot and we sat outside on a quiet sidewalk. It is one of the few places I've seen in NYC that really feels Italian rather than an Americanised version. Service was great too.
Good wine, good food, good ambience! What more could you want? The pistachio pesto pasta was particularly delicious, and the portion were generous. Such a lovely evening.
One of the best food and wine experiences in a long time with impeccable service. The wine list is full of gems from across Italy and provides an atavistic thrill ride from the first to last sip. The very Creative cooking that comes out of the kitchen is marvelous.
I love this place! The food and ambience is so amazing and beautiful. The owner is so welcoming and friendly and the service is great. Def recommend if you want good Italian food and a good vibe.
We came here because the place we tried to go was a 45 minute wait. Well I’m glad that happened because this place was amazing! I had the ravioli which was super delicious. The other people in my party enjoyed their pastas as well, and we shared some great Sardinian wine. Cozy and inviting place with an enormous wine selection and great food. We will be back!
Absolutely love this place. Amazing pastas, and the best branzino I have managed to find. Their pistachio pesto, whether on a pasta or crostini is incredible and a must try if visiting for the first time. The staff are always highly attentive and friendly, and incredibly helpful in picking out a good wine. During the warmer months, they also have a nice little outdoor dining setup as well.
Cozy spot, fresh pasta, bold flavors and a great selections of Sardinian dishes. Feels like a quick trip to the Mediterranean.
Absolutely delicious, 100% authentic Sardinian restaurant! The owner, Claudio is welcoming and friendly, very committed to give his customers the best dining experience. The menu is carefully selected and the food is top notch. Don't forget to order one of their yummy desserts - best Italian cheesecake in town! And ask them for some Mirto to finish up your meal in true Italian style.
The meatballs, the fregola with pistacchio and the caprese were really delicious. The atmosphere is chill but with an attitude. Most of the clients and waiters were Italian which is a really good sign. The price was average for NY. I will absolutely go back 🙂
Was my first time at DOC, amazing experience, Thomas is the most professional person I have met in nyc, you can find amazing food in Brooklyn, sometimes the best but the experience with him was something that warrants another visit, thank u Thomas!
YAHOO !!!!!! DOC Wine Bar is a great restaurant and now they offer take out and delivery service! I tried it this evening and it was absolutely great! I ordered the chicken with mushrooms in white wine sauce and the roasted brussels sprouts on the side. After you pick out your items you choose a delivery time. I picked 6:30 PM. and arrived on time , The food was delicious. The chicken and mushrooms had a side of mashed potatoes that were yummy. The brussels sprouts were done to perfection. I have always loved DOC and I’m so glad they are doing their best to stay in Business. What was really nice was that the food was so good we felt like we went out to eat! You can also order wine with dinner which makes it doubly special ! HIGHLY RECOMMEND —- DOC!
A hidden gem in Williamsburg! It’s so cozy, warm, inviting. The wine list is fantastic and there are natural options by the glass! I tried the special bread and Sardinian pasta and both were so amazing and different from anything I’ve tried before. The service was attentive and friendly! Will be back for a girls night soon
We had an amazing time at D.O.C.! I went once with my husband and once with family. The food is delicious (great quality-price), the service is great! We got the chance to chat with the Chef Stefano who is very friendly and knowledgeable, the real "Italian deal".
Definitely my favorite restaurant in Williamsburg. Delicious bresaola and very tasty pasta (really al dente, The same I got in Sardinia)... authentic Italian cuisine! Good vibes in this place only ;) Very friendly staff, especially Ezequiele, I’m so glad you are back! Also I would like to thank the manager Andrea for keeping this place very genuine. I felt like home, I felt like I was in Italy! I deeply suggest this restaurant. If you are in Brooklyn you must stop by and enjoy the food and the atmosphere. Bravissimi ragazzi!
All the food we ordered was soo delicious! Felico served us at the restaurant! He is an Amazing person! It was a really great experience! Highly recommending this place!
Amazing vibes. I’ve come here alone, with my dad, with my friend and her dog, etc. Always impeccable vibes and food. The owner, Claudio, is a great guy and this place is a GEM. I’ve only written 3 yelp reviews in my life and 2 of them were not happy ones. Love DOC
Angel was amazing. He showed us great wine and was very knowledgeable. Would go back just to see him!
We had another great experience at DOC. We were able to make a reservation last minute and were in and out in an hour. We each had a drink and shared a Caesar salad, the meatballs, the amatriciana pasta, and the fregola al pistachio pasta. Everything was excellent. Each staff member was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We look forward to coming back again soon. Thank you!
Okay wow! Glad I made a reservation because this place was packed. They had to turn some people away. Food and drinks were excellent and our service was great. Everyone was very friendly. Restaurant is beautiful, the bathroom was especially cute and I felt like I was in Italy! Must try!
Authentic Italian food and amazing service. I felt like I was transported to Italy during our dinner here. We were so happy to find a dog friendly restaurant to bring our puppy. Our server brought out a water bowl and made us very comfortable. Highlights: - beautiful, rustic decor. It really adds to the ambiance! - delicious food: the Sicilian bread is crispy and savory, more of a crispy/cracker texture which was unexpected but incredible flavor. I also ordered the vegan meatballs (amazing, especially with their marinara sauce) I can’t wait to come back and try out more of the menu!
DOC is fantastic! Their appetizers are all good, particularly the pistachio ricotta cheese. My partner and I got two pastas for main, the special that night with pork cheek and truffle cream and the other was shrimp and a homemade pesto. The pasta was delicious and the sauces were excellent. DOC is not fussy - great and friendly service, great wine and good atmosphere. Highly recommend.
My family and I absolutely loved this spot. Our server Fabio was awesome with our kids and had a great personality and made everything that much more enjoyable. The food was incredible, tiramisu off the charts and the pasta dishes we had were very good. So happy we stumbled upon this gem on our weekend stay in Brooklyn. Thank you Fabio and crew
Visiting Brooklyn for a few nights and this wine bar was the highlight of the day. There is lots of nods to the restaurants Sardinian roots in the decor and ambiance with wine bottles and wooden tables. Highly recommend the kale salad and the spinach pappardelle pasta dish. The service and staff were excellent as well and added to the whole experience. Don’t forget to finish off with the tiramisu!
My experience at DOC was beyond amazing. I visited based on the positive reviews that highlighted the excellent service, but I was pleasantly surprised by just how exceptional it turned out to be. As someone who usually prefers sitting at the bar in most establishments, I am often drawn to the engaging conversations with bartenders. However, our server, Fabio, was effing dope. His attentiveness, knowledge, and genuine warmth made it one of the most remarkable dining experiences I've had, easily ranking among my top three restaurant experiences. Overall, DOC Wine Bar not only lived up to its reputation for great service but surpassed it. The combination of their outstanding service and Fabio's exceptional care and attention made this visit truly unforgettable. I highly recommend DOC for anyone seeking an extraordinary dining experience that goes above and beyond expectations.
I love this place. The wine list is extensive, the food is always good and the staff are lovely. It’s a little pricey, so keep that in mind if you’re heading for a meal, but if you just want a drink and maybe a snack, it’s well worth it.
Came here early on a Friday night, beating a rush. Everything was so good. I wasn’t as familiar with Sardinian food and really enjoyed the traditional thin bread. The natural wines were excellent and my main was the spaghetti and clams. You must get the bottarga! It was worth the price and I think the dish would’ve been a bit plain without it. Will definitely return. Servers were attentive and atmosphere was perfect for a date night.
A real Italian with Sardinian influences food experience in Brooklyn. Very friendly staff and a real Italian chef preparing authentic and delicious Italian dishes. Also fun and casual environment for a fun night out. Congratulations DOC, we had a great time and a wonderful dinner!!
D.O.C. Wine Bar is one of my favorite spots in Williamsburg. The interior is truly one-of-a-kind with beautiful ceilings and wood beams and an incredibly cozy atmosphere. It’s not just a wine bar, though—the food is spectacular. I loved the beet salad and the mushroom pasta, in particular, but I’ve enjoyed several of the secondis and deserts as well. It’s also worth noting that they can accommodate dietary preferences with vegan and gluten free options. The owner mentioned that they’ve been open since 2001 and their entire team is lovely. I can’t recommend it highly enough!
What a perfect place to have a cozy glass of wine with a delicious meal. Highly recommend. Tomas, thank you!
Great place!! Very authentic Italian/Sardinian food. Great Italian staff and an excellent selection of wine and food. Their wine list is extensive and inclusive of all budgets. They also can accommodate many requests if you call ahead of time (such as a prefixed aperitivo). Reservations recommended and definitely a don't miss spot in BK.
Love the decor and atmosphere of this place! It’s my go-to when I want something nice and different. The food is on point, and the wine selection is amazing. The server who works there on Tuesdays is the best—I’d order whatever he recommends!
One of the most Italian places that I’ve been to in Brooklyn. Everything was next level delicious. The hospitality was beyond and the place looked/felt like you had discover it on a side street in your favorite Italian city.
DOC is a special place. The food, staff, ambiance are all superb. Cold night in the back room or patio when it's warm, hard to beat. Groups, alone at the bar, romantic dinner, it works for everything.
INCREDIBLEEEE FOOD! OMG. The food here!!! We stumbled upon this place with my 16 year old daughter and everything we tried on the menu was world class!! TO DIE FOR. What a find!! We felt TRANSPORTED to Italy and the service was beyond compare. We discovered a true gem. The bread, olives, bolognese pasta, eggplant parmesan, ceasar salad, we're going back to try ribeye steak, linguine ala vongole and MORE. The romantic, relaxed ambiance is gorgeous - when I say we felt transported - i cannot stress that enough! Service superb!!!!
Doc Wine Bar is such a cozy and inviting place. The atmosphere is relaxed and perfect for a night out with friends or a casual date. They have an excellent selection of wines, and the staff is always friendly and knowledgeable with great recommendations. The food is delicious — fresh ingredients, beautifully presented, and perfectly paired with the wines.
This is true authentic Italian - Sardinia to be exact. Walk inside to be transported. Atmosphere is amazing, the service was supreme, and the food?!? The best Caesars Salad I ever had in my life. The meatballs so delicious with sauce you must scrape up with bread. Bread bright in a brown paper bag to stay fresh. The pasta itself was perfection. Every detail handled to perfection. DOC you're my new favorite Italian restaurant outside of Italy. Buon appetito!
So this has been my favorite restaurant in Williamsburg for YEARS, since literally 2018. I bring everyone here from business dinners to family in town. Every dish is good. Their menu changes regular, but the Malloreddus is a staple. The crostone, both the ricotta and honey, as well as the pistachio, are delicious. But you truly cannot go wrong. The biggest plus is the staff. They are always super knowledgeable about the food, wine and very friendly. It’s the kind of place you get lost in drinking wine, Limoncello, and Grappa. Don’t miss the Aperol Spritz when its warm. When you step through the front gate, you are literally transported to Europe. 10/10 this place has never disappointed anyone I brought along.
Feels like you’re in a chic, rustic spot in Italy! The ambiance in this lace is incredible, especially if you sit in the back! They can accommodate large parties, so great if you want to throw a festive birthday dinner with a bunch of friends. Food is exceptional and service is always friendly. One of my favorite secret spots in the area!
D.O.C. is by far my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC! 100% authentic deliciousness from Sardinia, the most amazing island in the Mediterranean Sea. I have been to this place a billion times and tried every dish on the menu, and I have to say, there is absolutely nothing there that is not perfectly executed, everything is simply mind blowing. The malloreddus are obviously their specialty, they're rich, hearty, sumptuous, una meraviglia! I also recommend trying their pappardelle alla bolognese, the fregola (another specialty from Sardinia), the octopus and the branzino. Besides the incredible food, D.O.C. has also the best service in town, extremely kind, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The restaurant is beautiful, perfect for a romantic date or a nice, informal dinner with friends. Go to the backroom to admire paintings and decor inspired by the gorgeous, typical architectural style of the island. Veramente un posto incredibile. Siete bravissimi!!!
D.O.C. Wine Bar is a very delicious, authentic Italian restaurant. There are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. They do take reservations and are very busy on the weekends. However, we were able to put our names in on Saturday night and got seated within 20 minutes. They have more outdoor seating then they do indoor. I definitely recommend eating at D.O.C. Wine Bar.
Always great food and experience! If you had no idea what orange wine is-try it! If you want to try reeeeeally good deserts -try it! Panna cotta is to die for! I don’t eat meat, but my friends sweared that’s the best meatballs they ever tried. They also have vegetarian version of them , which would be a good choice as well. I cannot stressed enough how important to get their pistachio pasta !!))) I promise that’s be the best pasta you’ve ever had and , possibly, would ever have ))) We, actually, came back last time only because of that pasta) Actually, everything that we’ve ever ordered there was insanely good Plus, the service is terrific. Add an amazing atmosphere and a lot of Italian talks around , and you’ll understand why I gave it five stars) Enjoy!!
The wines were great. The cacio e Pepe was way subpar, sauce was so thick and tasted artificial. Besides that I love that they give their bread in a brown bag like lunch for school.
We enjoyed all of our food and wine here! Our favorite was the flat bread (basically prosciutto pizza). I would have given this 5 stars if they had real candles, but they had the electric fake ones.
Williamsburg has a lot of Italian restaurants. After our favorite spot Aurora was closed for a private event we decided to try out something new and ended up at DOC. Like many of the spots in Williamsburg, the less decorated the better it is. However, it all sort of works. Some of the hangings on the wall and the lower ceilings and the employees make it all cozy. The staff is very nice and attentive. The wine we tried was really good, especially for the price. The octopus was very tender, but it needed a little bit more flavor. The pasta with goat cheese was amazing! For desert we had tiramisu and this was very good as well. My only complaint would be when you serve bread to the table, at least bring it out warm or soft.... For a first time eating here it has impressed me enough to want to come back...
Fairly intimate, old world rustic atmosphere. Excellent wine. Had the tonno/veal app...very interesting smokey delicious but a one timer. Had the pistachio pesto with goat cheese secondi on some type of granular home made pasta that was incredible...like mac n cheese for angels. The ribeye and lamb chops were cooked perfectly and were delicious. Service was incredibly attentive and polite without being in your face. Wonderful spot with delicious rustic fare. 4.5 stars.
Best Sardinian restaurant in New York. I was sit in the lovely front room. The atmosphere was amazing. The fregola was truly authentic and full of flavor, and the wine pairing was excellent—one of the highlights of the meal. Unfortunately, the overall experience was let down by the service. In particular, the male waiter was unfriendly and inattentive, making us feel more like a bother than welcome guests. No smile, curt responses, and an attitude that didn’t match the warm and inviting cuisine being served. I might return for the food, but I sincerely hope the staff will better reflect the hospitality.
I haven’t been to this place since the early 2000’s and was unsure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to see the beautiful expansion of their space. Our favorite item on the menu was the burratta and the Luisa Sauvignon Blanc. Skip the seafood pasta. The pasta itself was fantastically chewy and fresh but the sauce wound up watered down by the sea water. I’ll keep coming back for the hospitality, the wine selection, the cheese plates and the tiramisu.
Excellent Italian food, with a Sardinian bent (and a Bolognese chef - and yes, they have mortadella!). The wine list is *excellent*, which isn't surprising as the owner also has a wine store nearby :-) It is particularly italian in that everything tastes *good* (nothing will blow you away, but, OTOH, it is always *good*, and will make you come back) And oh, yes, they have excellent coffee (espresso that is. and it isn't sour!)
Stopped here last minute for a bite to eat and drinks with my partner. We sat at the bar — which only had 4 seats total. The restaurant itself it quite large — a whole back room in addition to the front of the restaurant. Maybe because the bar only had 4 people total, but I felt very unattended to service wise: I had to be vocal to say “we’d like another drink, we need the check, etc”. Do not recommend the espresso martini - basically had a load of coffee grounds poured on top. The Caesar salad was my favorite thing we ordered. Octopus was meh — the burrata had a lot of meat. Would stop back for just a glass of wine.
This place was decent. Pasta was well prepared and very delightful. The servers were able to give us informative suggestions on what to eat. The bread was the best thing I've had in a long time. It was so light and tasteful (we ordered 2 and an order to go)!!! The olives were over-rated and would pass on next time.
Unexpectedly good Italian ristorante. You know is legit, when the chefs and waiters speak Italian and you see in the menu Pesto di Pistachio which you know is native Sicilian and is only done in small paesini in the magical island. Star with Mascarpone + Pistachio Pesto over warm crostini. Amazing spaghetti alle vongole, perfectly al dente full of flavor and cavatelli with house-ragú. Great wine selection, favoring local vineyards and brands. Definitely a most in the Williamsburg streets around Bedford Avenue. Perfect for a date night. Follow @destination_food33 for more reviews
This was fine. Sardinian restaurant with friendly staff. Wine list was great. But food was just ok. Sardinian pasta with pistachio was just ok and staff admitted it wasn’t the usual Pistachios from Sardinia. Then why did you recommend it? Good not great.
Unfortunately we did not enjoy our time here. Recommended by a friend so we were excited to try this spot. Felt rushed by the service. We ordered the pappardelle and the lasagna and it was underwhelming at best. Food lacked flavored and the service unfortunately left much to be desired. Maybe a bad experience and looking forward to trying again
Disappointing, over salted and over priced. It had been years since I’d dined here and from what I recalled it was great, but not this time. I love Italian food and have been to many of the top rated Italian restaurants in nyc, not to mention all over Italy. Although, the food was tasty, the portion sizes, amount of salt and prices were a little ridiculous. There were 2 of us, 2 glasses of wine (which was very good), 2 appetizers (the beet salad was delicious BUT SO SMALL) and 2 main dishes. The $37 Bronzino was unbelievably over salted and small. I’m not asking or expecting for family style portions, but for the price DOC is charging, I would like to see more offered. I think it’ll be another few years before I try DOC again.
It was ok! Nothing to rave about, nothing horrible. Had the mushroom pasta, it was fine. Portion small for $28. Prosciutto was good! Cash or Amex only also not great.
Been here 3 times. First time was awesome and brought friends back the other 2 times, but it never lived up to the expectation after the first visit. Not sure if the chef changed in the 2 year time period, or management, or they just got lazy but the quality of food and service really declined. Had chances of being a local standby, but not worth visiting unless other options in the area are not available. You'll have a fine experience, with food that's at least a 7/10 but you won't be wow'ed.
Food and wine tasted good, albeit the portions were a bit small. The service left us scratching our heads a bit. No water was offered to us upon sitting - we had to ask for it. Our first 2 courses were dropped on the table before our bottle of wine was brought out - strange for a wine bar. We sat and waited to eat until the wine was finally brought over after having to remind our waiter. Decor is charming but the flashing colorful lights detract from the overall ambiance.
Food was really nice - especially the appetizers: Burrata was so creamy and tasty, Risotto cakes with mushrooms were excellent. But the rest? We had a cocktail to start with, mine a Gin fizz which was more of a soda with a shot of bottom shelf booze - and would cost 17 Dollar. But most disappointing was how the 3 kids (3,3,5) were treated (to note: restaurant was only half full and it was only early evening). The kind and self-made offer by the waiter to make them a „special drink“ as well and share it in 3 glasses turned out to result in 21 Dollar on the bill for merely a sip of soda for each. We then ordered a main for the kids to share and a side of butter pasta for the picky eater, and were charged 25 bucks for the main (ok of course) plus 25 for the side of plain pasta! As a party of 6, we then were charged 24% (!) gratuity and got a complaint because we did not tip on top of that. Families are obviously not welcome. Left a stale taste, unfortunately.
Decent spot for Italian food and wine. We didn’t have a great staff experience so it was a bit uncomfortable. They were kind of pushy about ordering quickly even when we were the only people at the restaurant when it opened at 5pm - so that was a bit odd. They didn’t come back to see if we needed new drinks or anything. Just in general felt a bit unwelcome, like we needed to eat and leave. Great outdoor space for outside dining and the interior is very cute as well.
Quite disappointed. All the food I had I could have made the same myself if not better. Which is quite disappointing when the food at a restaurant is meant to be better and fresher. The burrata and cherry tomatoes might as well have been from a store. The meatballs were quite bland and the Cacio e Pepe had way too much sauce. At least the bread was nice.
I had the worst Aperol Spritz, coupled with horrible customer service. When I pointed out that the drink tasted like water, the server, who lacked basic manners, didn’t even stop at our table to respond. Instead, he shouted back while walking away that he’s been making Aperol Spritz for 20 years—I assume it was back in 2004. In Serbia. At 10 years old. However, my friend and I noticed that not only is he unable to make a proper cocktail, but he also can’t use the payment machine correctly. He charged my friend for both drinks but didn’t charge me even though I inserted my card. Perhaps he needs to reevaluate his skills in both making cocktails and handling transactions.
Just a weird experience overall. Started off okay getting a table without a reservation on a Saturday night. Ordered a bottle of wine and some bread and olive oil which was decent. I had ordered a “special” pumpkin gnocchi that I guess was a seasonal dish but had no pumpkin flavor at all, I wanted to ask our server about having possibly received the wrong dish but he didn’t check back on us for at least 20 minutes and ended up leaving with a guy that was sitting at the bar without saying anything to us. It was a shame because the place seemed to have potential and we wanted to order dessert but after being abandoned we felt obligated not to order anymore food. Needless to say we will not be back. Also music choice was awful.
This place is cozy, has a nice interior. The food was ok, I only liked the cauliflower dish. The waiter kept forgetting to put in the lobster pasta dish. The desert was fine. But for the price and not the best service. I’ve also had better Italian dishes . Our waiter was so over it. Slightly disappointed if you’re going to charge that much. We spent 300 bucks.
Maybe it wasn't their day, but I can't recommend this restaurant for lunch on weekends. Although we were hoping to have pasta, the restaurant was only serving their brunch menu at the time (Sunday 1 pm). I ended up choosing the only vegetarian option on the menu, which was the Goat cheese frittata, while my wife ordered the meatball burger. Although the food was okay, it wasn't anything spectacular. The restaurant was mostly empty except for one other table, and the service was attentive and tried to make us feel comfortable. However, I found the interior of the restaurant to be old and lacking attention to detail, despite having a "rustic" feel. Additionally, the Latin music playlist didn't really contribute to the Italian atmosphere. Overall, this restaurant is not somewhere I would choose to return to.
This place is lackluster and let me tell you why. First, it’s labeled a “wine bar” but they are quite pushy if you’re not ordering food. Second, once we decided to order an appetizer to start, the server told me he needed to know what we were ordering for the entire night (including entrees) because the chef needed to plan our meal. This is such a strange thing to ask someone! Usually, at a wine bar, you can order food throughout the night and snack on different things as you see fit. This was impossible here. At that point, I found the place so off putting that we only had one appetizer and one glass of wine each. Please, just let people order food whenever they want to order it. And if they only want to drink, let them. Wouldn’t go again and don’t recommend it.
Pistachio pesto pasta was pretty good, service overall was slow…but halfway through our meal, we saw multiple large cockroaches inside. We politely and discreetly told the waiter, and he proceeded to tell us multiple stories about cockroaches at the restaurant. He played it off like they’re just an average bug and was joking around. I get it’s NYC and a humid summer, but seeing multiple cockroaches inside during dinner and the staff having 0 concern is not sitting right with me
Ordered bread and a thin cracker came out. We asked for bread and it was brought out to us in a bag? Although every table around us was given bread in a basket. We were charged for the cracker even tho we didn’t eat any of it. The wine and food was excellent. Easily would be 5 if the bread situation didn’t happen.
I do not recommend this place, it is very expensive, its dishes are poorly presented and very simple. I ordered a lasagna and it was very very salty. The bread that they offer you a small slice per person is horrible, hard and poorly made, please do not go. It's the most wasted $100 of my life. It's a dirty place and they discriminated against us because we didn't ask for more things, but we didn't ask because it was horrible. Not because we couldn't afford it.
Service was inconsistent. Food was mediocre, and all the main dishes came out at different times. Drink orders were wrong. A chair at the table was broken. Lastly there was a mandatory 25% gratuity added to the bill which was never mentioned, we had to ask why it was so much after we received the bill.
Food quality and service has gone backwards unfortunately, this place was sentimental. Took 30 mins to get someone’s attention, Chicken was bland, they forgot our Brussel Sprouts were just ok, salad was just ok. And on top of it, they forgot an additional order. The Pasta and wine however were good.
Unfortunately the worst dining service we ever had. We got water and then had to wait 18-20 minutes before being able to even ask for a drink. We asked to taste the rose and orange wine as we wanted to order a bottle. They return with a white and orange taster instead. End up ordering the rose which was good and so was the food. However, had to ask for cutlery twice. I get a fork on the first ask and have to ask for a spoon/knife on the second ask. After dinner, we ask for an espresso martini that never comes and need to walk in to ask for the cheque. After 10 minutes we walk in to ask for the second time. This is the first time we decide to leave no tip as they did not even ask us once if we were ok. The waiters response is an aggressive ‘no tip’? But he doesn’t wait to ask why our experience was so horrible in the first place. A real shame as we got a gift card from friends as this is one of their favourite places in Brooklyn. Do not recommend.
The vibes of this restaurant are really nice and the lasagna is pretty good, however the server yelled at us and forced us to leave the restaurant. I have never had such a horrifying experience with a restaurant before, especially considering how friendly the atmosphere was. My friend and I came in and asked the server if we’re okay to sit with our dog because we just want to share a quick bite and head out. As soon as we got seated we asked what the server recommended and ordered the lasagna, and they were super kind and quick to give us our food. As we ate, we were chatting with 3 other parties in the restaurant who were chatting with each other even when we entered the space and having great conversation about all our dogs (3 out of the 4 tables had dogs in the restaurant) and once we finished our meal, I went up to pay. As we were heading out, saying bye to the other friendly patrons enjoying their meal, another server came up to us and yelled at us and said “you have to get out of this restaurant right now, you only tipped us 10%!” At first, I was confused and thought he was joking because everyone was so friendly, but then he yelled again “LEAVE RIGHT NOW” as the other people in the restaurant were just as confused and one girl even apologized on his behalf. Having a customer have to apologize on behalf of a server at the restaurant where people are being super friendly was such an oddly embarrassing experience, and I feel so embarrassed for both the server and everyone who was eating there having a good time. I think 10% is definitely on the lower end of tipping which I can acknowledge, but we were in and out of the restaurant in less than 30 minutes and I don’t think it was justified to yell at customers for tipping low. I think if we didn’t tip at all maybe it would justify the server being a bit upset, but to yell at us and force us to leave as we were already on our way out because we “only left a 10% tip” is honestly one of the most embarrassing ways I’ve ever seen a server treat customers. The rest of the customers sitting at the restaurant were just as appalled and I think no human should ever be treated like this. Again, I can acknowledge 10% is a low tip percentage but to treat someone so poorly because you feel entitled to more is so ugly. I hope this doesn’t reflect the restaurant because everyone; from the other staff to the other customers eating made the experience so lovely, and I hope honestly this person gets fired. If the restaurant agrees with the server yelling at customers and forcing them to leave the restaurant as we were already clearly on our way out and just saying bye to others, I would say with confidence that they should be embarrassed to be an establishment. I hope someone can acknowledge this interaction and mitigate moving forward because this left such an ugly taste of what could have made this restaurant one of my favourites in the area.
Just terrible service. Our server never checked back on us and left without saying anything to us. We wanted to order dessert but no one ever asked. The food was meh at best and the music was terrible unless you want to hear JukeBox Hero by Foreigner while eating Italian food. Good service can overcome other restaurant flaws but the lack of service we had amplified all the negatives. Plus it was wildly overpriced.
Complete scam. Terrible food. Updating to respond to owner: your pricing is outrageous for the quality. The pasta was extremely bland and the fish is a tiny portion. It all tastes like bland airport food. Either charge less or increase the quality of your food.
Terrible neighbors!! They have a 30' shed in the street for dining but use it for storage instead and fill the public sidewalk space with furniture/umbrellas making it difficult for public to access sidewalk. Just last night I was walking past and while trying to avoid crashing into people walking opposite I tripped over a chair and the person seated was jolted forward. I previously told workers they're furniture needs to be out of sidewalk space. The response was "The owner makes us, we're not allowed to use the shed". Filing another report to DOT and the mayors office! This place is a neighborhood nuisance and danger!
This has been my favorite restaurant in NYC, and I’ve been coming here a few times a year since 2012. I’ve always loved the atmosphere, the food, and most of all, the heavenly tiramisu. However, over the past two years, I’ve noticed some subtle but concerning changes. Today, July 18, 2025, was likely my last visit. After 13 years filled with great memories here, the quality of the food has completely deteriorated. I’m not sure if there’s been a change in ownership or a new kitchen crew, but the excellence this place once had is long gone. Burrata with cherry tomatoes was uninspiring and bland. I don’t want to list all the dishes we had. Most disappointingly, the tiramisu which used to be truly exceptional and highlight of our every meal here now tastes like something store bought. With quality going down, it’s hard to justify coming back. Honestly, I’d be surprised if this place manages to stay open another year. I’m genuinely heartbroken. I loved coming here, and it’s sad to see that the good times and the great food have come to an end. The prices no longer reflect the quality, and it seems like corners are being cut.
