Don's Bogam is an outstanding Korean BBQ restaurant with fantastic food and exceptional service. The highlight of our experience was our server, who cooked the food for us right at our table. Not only was this a fun and interactive experience, but it also ensured that our food was cooked to perfection. The menu offered a wide variety of options, including a delicious array of meats and vegetables. We particularly enjoyed the beef bulgogi and the kimchi fried rice. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and the portion sizes were generous. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also top-notch. The decor was elegant and modern, and the staff were friendly and attentive. We felt comfortable and relaxed throughout our meal. Overall, we highly recommend Don's Bogam to anyone looking for delicious Korean BBQ and outstanding service. We can't wait to go back!

Their pickled radish side dish is so so good, as is their bibimbap. Sadly I didn’t order that (my friend did), but the seafood tofu soup I got was decent as well. Easier to get a table if you don’t want to do kbbq.

One of the best Korean BBQ I've had the Mushrooms were to die for. The wine selection was excellent. If you're in Korea town or just in NYC in general take the time to dine at this gem.

Hands down a 5 star place both for food and service. Korean seafood pancake was fantastic. Sitting down and getting up can be tricky because of the tables arrangements but if you are comfortable sitting down and getting up of the floor you’ll be fine (unless you are wearing mine skirt).

UPDATE: delicious and great service. Best and most reliable KBBQ place I go to in the NYC area. Have a friend that wants to eat KBBQ? This is the place to go. Have a sudden craving for KBBQ? This is the place to go. Their upper level seating is a major part of why I enjoy my many experiences there with my friends and families. Their menu is extensive and the combos are the best way to avoid taking too long to make a decision. Their seafood scallion pancakes are a must. Definitely order the cold noodles and the chicken with ginseng soup.

Very delicious! It is expensive but worth the price, and I believe Michelin starred! The house infused soju was amazing

Definitely top 5 Korean BBQ in NYC Ktown; made phone reservation with Yooha, who went above & beyond to help me find photo on Google maps of the exact pair of tables I needed together for party of 12 from out of town (thank you so much!); excellent quality premium short ribs both marinated & non-marinated; fresh 반찬 (side dishes); expert grill service, efficient/professional staff, welcoming host/hostess, modern atmosphere, upbeat vibe, not cramped seating/tables, good variety in menu; support your local restaurants & small businesses 👍

Probably the best Asian meal I’ve had in decades. Just amazing service. Spicy marinade ribeye was fabulous!

Great quality of meats and food. Always have people cook for you on table. The side dishes are always refilled and renewed. Always make reservations in advance and arrive on time. The group won't be seated unless everyone arrive.

I highly recommend visiting this place with your significant other! It’s also a wonderful spot to enjoy with family. One of the biggest highlights is being able to enjoy Korean BBQ paired with wine. The grilled meat melts in your mouth, and a sip of wine after each bite instantly washes away the day’s fatigue. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere is just perfect. It’s no wonder this place is called the best Korean BBQ in New York — the meat was simply perfect.

I always enjoy coming here for a big meal with a group. The food is excellent. The service could be improved as it’s a bit slow, but they make up for it with everything else.

Even though we didn't have a reservation, we got a table when we walked in on a Thursday evening for dinner. The bbq was absolutely delicious. Our favorite was the spicy marinated prime rib eye steak. Second time there and the place didn't disappoint.

Went to Don's Bogam on Sunday with my family and we had a tremendous experience. The restaurant is immaculate, and the service and food was excellwnt! It was only our 2nd time enjoying Korean BBQ so we needed some assistance on what to order and how to eat the items with all of the sides and our server was extremely helpful. You definitely won't be disappointed!

It is an authentic Korean restaurant. Second time and extraordinary service always. I had the beef bibimbap and vermicelli which both were fantastic. Just those two dishes were more than enough. But of course could not miss having a bit of Soju

Fantastic food, great ambiance and superb service. The wait was a little under 20 minutes during a very busy day and while the wait staff was definitely running around trying to serve everyone I never felt neglected by my waiter. I brought a friend who had never had Korean food and our waiter was super helpful in the food selection process. A long time lover of Korean cuisine I would rate this on the top 3 places I’ve eaten outside Korea. The galbi bibimbap was fresh and well cooked and the cold noodles were well balanced and refreshing. The selection of banchan was a bit surprising as I’m not used to seeing such diversity. Highly recommend this place!

I lived in South Korea for a year and have been on the search for authentic Korean bbq since. This place truly delivers! The Gabi short ribs were delectable. The service staff was quick. Especially the bartender, he was quite busy but never too busy not to notice our glass was nearing the end. Great place!

J

Best tasting Korean bbq in K-town! Great atmosphere and service. The meat portion size is a bit less than the other places I've been to, so you might not be full by eating the bbq alone.

We celebrated my cousin's birthday here and it was delicious! The seating was different, you have to step down into your seat, not really easy to get out of especially with larger groups. We ordered a variety of things and cooked them to our own liking at the table. My family is a bunch of meat lovers so this was just the place for us. I wouldnt normally going to a place and then cooking my own food, but with a bunch of people to talk to while its sizzling to your level of perfection makes the experience worth it. The staff was friendly and attentive which was nice.

First time eating at this Korean bbq and it was not disappointing at all. Great hospitality, quality food. The decor is modern and it definitely sets the mood. Great for group gatherings and loved how their music wasn’t loud, etc. will definitely be back.

Pretty good Korean bbq in ktown, came here for a vendor lunch and the food was really yummy. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a good spot to go for Korean food. I’d come back next time to try their lunch specials. Japchae was so good. Bulgogi rice cake was decent too. On the pricier side so better for special occasions.

J

It was a great night visiting the place! Food was good, services were perfect, people were friendly. ✨✨✨They have various side dishes and are refillable like a real Korean restaurant! I really respect this part. 3 ppl we ordered a soup, a pancake, and two orders of bbq (with two bowls of rice.) And we were full! (Thanks to the side dishes lol) Definitely recommend this place although personally I will not go for the bbq but other Korean dishes next time. Really want to visit again.

K

The side dishes were all clean, not too strong in flavor, and delicious. We ordered the fresh short ribs, and the meat was clean and cooked perfectly by the servers, making it even more enjoyable. Meat always tastes better when someone else grills it for you! For dessert, we ordered bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). It suited my taste, but the seasoning was a bit too strong, which was a bit disappointing. I think the mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) is cleaner and tastier. Additionally, we ordered the lunch special combo with bibimbap and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). The bibimbap sauce was delicious, and overall, the dish was flavorful. The doenjang jjigae was mildly seasoned, not too strong, and just right. The atmosphere was great, and overall, the food was excellent. I highly recommend this place!

Got the bulgogi bibimbap delivered. Came with spinach, bean sprouts, radish kimchi, and Napa kimchi. And I added a fried egg. The gochujang sauce was sooooo good. Really good tasting and big portion. The packaging is really sturdy so you have to stab then tear the film to open it.

Great for meals with orhers. Can order cooked dishes as well as those cooked on a grill prepared by a server. Good quality and very tasty. Excellent atmosphere - modern without being stuffy. Good ventilation.

Quiet atmosphere. Service was prompt and responsive to our requests. Beef quality was excellent. Side dishes were tasty. Get the bacon steamed egg side!

Very good korean restaurant. We got an order for 2 of meat and seafood and that was a lot of food. Japchae was delicious. Kimchee was still crunchy. The best part is you don't leave the place smelling liked grilled beef. They really have an efficient exhaust. Lychee soju was refreshing.

Price is definitely higher but food quality and service were on point. We enjoy the beef tongue and steak and wagyu, the portions were quite large. I love the steamed egg too. Ordered soondubu and bibimbap too, I’d say they were overall good however didn’t stand out. Recommend to just stick with the meat!

K

A very fine Korean BBQ restaurant. The meat is tender and especially the marinated ones are amazing! The servers know many things and can give you recommendations on which one to get. There are two seating areas for BBQ only and regular korean food. Once the meat comes out, the server will cook them for you and will let you know when it is ready. It is pricey but the quality of food confirms it. By the end of the meal, you will be glad you came to this restaurant!

We didn't have a reservation, but luckily we got the table. The food was so great, the price was reasonable, and the service was phenomenal. Definitely visit again when I am going to NYC.

I've come here twice so far and have yet to be even remotely disappointed - the food is one the freshest and most delicious that I've had and come across in NYC. As it relates to Korean bbq, this place is a cut above the rest that I've experienced thus far, albeit somewhat pricey, it is most definitely worth it. The service is prompt and courteous - my cup was never empty. My friends and I ordered: seafood scallion pancakes (pretty standard but tastey), green tea cold noodle soup (something unique, a bit of a chewy consistency but very tasty - definitely worth trying - it's a traditional summertime Korean snack, or so I'm told), 2 beef bbq platters - 1 was 5 meat variety, and the other was a non marinated prime beef (the meat just melts in your mouth).

A Korean B.B.Q meal is always a social evening, sitting around the grill plate, the selection of sauces, salads and the excellent meat make the meal a tasty celebration. In Dons Bogham you may find all those elements that makes the meal a celebration. We really enjoyed the food and service and highly recomended.

After walking around the city for hours, we were so happy to find a place that was open! The staff were absolutely lovely and extremely attentive. The kimchi pancake and japchae were definitely my favourites but they had a good variety of banchan. Would 100% recommend! I’ll have to come back for barbecue next time.

With all the choices you have in NYC, this needs to be on your list. The staff, the decor, the food, and the wine are the best of the best. I left hours ago and I can't wait to go back. It's the real deal Korean BBQ. You can cook at your table or order of the fully prepared menu. It's located in a great location in the heart of the city and they are doing everything right. And I would try every dumpling on the menu. We had one of each and there was not one that disappointed. The management has just put every thought into each item on the menu and trained their staff to deliver a top notch culinary delight. I can't say loud enough you need to go there today!

D

Such a fun experience. Great food and the staff was very helpful. We had been wanting to have an "authentic" Korean BBQ dinner for some time and finally had the opportunity. (We used to go to one in Arlington VA that was amazing! It's hard to find ones that you actually BBQ yourself). Though they actually did the BBQing for us, it was fine. They kept coming around to set things up and get us organized. The drinks were good too. Can't wait to go back. But go with a larger group so you can try more things. We were only 3 and one is vegan, so the other 2 of us had to share and there was so much food.

I came to Dons Bogam with my coworkers, and we had such a great time. This place definitely feels more upscale than your usual K-BBQ spots, and it was worth it. The meat was super high quality—everything we ordered was tender and full of flavor. What surprised me was how well the meal paired with wine. We usually go for soju or beer with K-BBQ, but their wine selection was really good and added a fancy touch to the night. The vibe was classy but still comfortable—perfect for a work dinner or a nice night out. The service was super friendly and attentive, and they made sure we were taken care of the whole time. If you’re in the mood for K-BBQ and want something a little more elevated, I’d definitely recommend Dons Bogam.

My family and I are from out of town, and had dinner at Dons Bogam in March 2023 and December 2025. We enjoyed it very much both times. The LA Galbi is absolutely delicious and my husband and daughter enjoyed their vegetarian dishes, including buchu-gochu pageon and dubu beoseot (dolsot bibimbap). Very nice atmosphere and service.

M
Max Pietsch (Max)

I went here for lunch and had the BO Special (see photo) which is the short ribs. It was solid. It was just very slightly sweet and salty, and came with onions. They also brought out a bunch of additional smaller foods (see photo) like kimchi, sprouted beans, beef & garlic. I liked the smaller plates a lot. It was a solid amount of meat. It also came with white rice and I left a little tired.

W
Woo Young Kim

One of better k bbqs in NYC, we really enjoyed the meat here. They try to give traditional wooden floor exp which is cool, but it is not the most practical way of getting in and out (not to mention I felt bad for the dude cooking the bbq on his knees for inside table). Overall pretty good quality of food, service, and vibe. Reservation recommended for dinner time.

This place is a fantastic Korean 🇰🇷 restaurant 🍴 and barbecue! ♨️ Dons Bogam offers a wonderful selection of delicious 🤤 Korean dishes 🍽️ - definitely try the Chicken 🐔 Bibimbap (Chicken 🍗, vegetable 🥬, over rice 🍚), Steamed Eggs 🥚, or their BBQ lunch special! Service is fast ⏲️, staff 👨‍🍳 is friendly and helpful, and the ambience 🎶 is nice! They have plenty of indoor seating. 🪑 This place has been a Michelin ⭐ recommended for years! 🗓️ I wish I knew about this place earlier!

Delicious and fun experience for a Korean barbecue. The service was very friendly and they were patient with us helping us choose the items on the menu. The barbecue is prepared by the servers there and you can ask them how you want your meat cooked.

I stumbled upon this place at night and then eventually came around back for lunch with people visiting the city. It is a reliable place to get Korean food in the area, and also conveniently not directly on the busiest street of K-Town yet not too far from the train station. The exterior storefront design itself is eyecatching and you can see the bar within, as well as the deep interior with many tables, set for barbecue or no. The ventilation system is decent. You can still smell your neighbor's food cooking, but you won't leave smelling like it. Servers when I went were a bit sparse, but not utterly unattentive. We had to flag them down sometimes to get a refill of our water. The wait time for food wasn't too bad and they did try to bring everything out at once. The food is very good and of a variety you would expect from a Korean restaurant. The amount and quality of Banchan was pleasant and their kimchi was not super strong but very good to complement the fatty foods like pork belly. Despite the fact that the tteokbokki is listed as an appetizer, I honestly thought it was filling enough, so that was a good deal. The stews and naengmyun were also very good, with the kimchi jjigae being the standout with its spice.

I was invited to a friend’s birthday at a barbecue restaurant, and from the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly. The service was excellent and very attentive. They even celebrated the birthday, which made the experience extra special. The food was delicious, and the level of friendliness and quality here is rare to find in New York. Highly recommended!

Well known kbbq spot near ktown offering pricey, but delicious marinated meats, casseroles and more. Started with half a dozen banchan, there is a variety of meat set options for the table to choose from or a la carte. The items are cooked by staff so the usual designated kbbq chef can relax and eat😆. Seating is a bit cramped, and can be an issue for people with accessibility problems. Blue handball is used to hold the burner controls, very random.

There are many choices in K-town, and you can only do worse. We had reservations for 6, one cancellation, and they worked with us, never penalizing (as stated on their website). All staff we interacted with were friendly and professional- casually, telling me they're at the top of the game. Food's amazing, seating is quirky (don't bring grandma, unless she does pilates or yoga lol).

Perfect place for lunch in Ktown, highly recommend the grilled salted mackerel, beef ribs soup and chicken stew. They also offer different banchan each time. The space has slightly dim lighting with a small bar area. The meat quality is good and portions are generous.

Have to say overall, very pleasantly surprised with this place. It’s not cheap, but the meats are good and the service was amazing. It wasn’t very busy when we visited, but still - food came out fresh and fast. They grill for you, and for us, they were fast and we were never waiting without food. Bonus is, it seems relatively easy to get a reservation here

Some friends brought us to dinner here. It was an amazing experience. The food was incredible & the service was great also. We had pork dumplings & shrimp shumae for appetizers. For dinner we had the marinated chicken & the ribeye. Both meats were delicious. The chicken literally melted in your mouth.

If you’re craving Korean BBQ in the city, this spot is a must. The Prime Marinated Beef Platter was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly at the tabletop grill. We also loved the crispy kimchi pajeon, the kkaenip bulgogi, and the comforting kimchi jjigae. The house-infused lychee soju was a standout. They’re also running a promo free Korean stew with any beef platter which makes the experience even better.

We went for lunch and it was delicious. The service was great ribeye and skirt steak on the barbecue was awesome. The waitress did all the cooking for us at the table. All the sides were delicious as well. It was well worth the price is there as this is more expensive than the other places to the West.

Don’s Bogam is one of my favorite Korean BBQ spots in NYC’s K-Town. The quality of the meat is top-notch — especially the marinated galbi and pork belly, both juicy and flavorful. What makes this place stand out is the built-in charcoal grill, which adds a great smoky depth to the meats. The staff is attentive and helps grill everything to perfection, which is a huge plus if you want a seamless experience. I also loved the variety of banchan (side dishes) that come with the meal — fresh, tasty, and replenished without asking. The space feels a bit more upscale than your typical KBBQ joint, making it perfect for both casual nights out and special occasions. Their wine and soju selection is solid too. If you’re looking for a Korean BBQ experience that balances quality, service, and atmosphere, Don’s Bogam is a must-visit in NYC.

absolutely and easily now my favorite spot for kbbq in ktown. the food here was amazing and the service was top notch. you must get their beef tartare as a starter. it def taste better than it looks. I also recommend getting their bulgogi. It comes with a bunch of veggies and a broth. super comforting for cold days. I can’t wait to come back!

J

Since amazing Korean food is what I grew up with, I'm VERY critical when it comes to Korean food joints. I was pleasantly surprised by this spot. Yes it's a bit pricier than most Korean BBQ places in Ktown but the quality of the meat, their banchan (side dishes), the service, and ambiance were well worth the pricetag! Dinner for 5, 4 males/1 female, came out to closer to $350ish including tip, but that was all pretty much food lol (4 sodas and 1 beer). The usual suspects of brisket, marinated short rib, pork belly were all prime cuts and super delicious but the stars of the night were their beef tongue bbq (ordered 2 orders of this) and their bulgogi grill pan!! Oh and their pepper & scallion pancake and their seafood pancake were perfectly crisp and delicious too plus I didn't come out of their smelling like Korean BBQ smoke so that's a BIG ++ in my book!

I did not have their bbq but decided to order other menus. I had their kimchi mandoo jeongol (casserole), ddukbokki, japchae, beers, and makgeolli which were all good. The jeongol broth was a little light and watery at first but got better as we boiled it a little longer; the ddukbokki was great--spicy and sweet; and their japchae was nothing on grandma's but had a large variety of veggies thrown in. All in all, a solid meal was had for a solid price, but nothing stood out as amazing. I'd definitely go again for a good-tasting, good-service meal!

We were pretty impressed with this place, although on the pricey side (especially for beer, although we are from London so might be out of touch with NY prices). The kimichi pancake was delicious as was the bulgogi and rice cakes. Could has eaten another round of that easily! The beef was all of a good quality too and cooked perfectly on the BBQ. Having been to Seoul this place was a pretty decent version so would recommend!

Food quality was pretty good, bulgogi unfortunately seemed frozen, service was on point on the bbq. Side dishes were okay.

great food but i think for the price, the portion should be bigger and i think there are better kbbq restaurants in nyc (this one wasnt bad tho! still good 😄)

Fantastic meal. Server will grill all the meat for you and potion it to the number of diners. Only down side, it gets smoky in here and the ac is a little weak. Time to upgrade those smoke vents !!

This is a good korean bbq spot. I went with a group of friends so we had the fortune of trying a variety of meats. The meat, itself, was good. I had very few complaints about the food while I dined there. The only reason that I would give this a 4/5 is the price. For what you're getting and the quality of the meat, I think the experience is overpriced. I went with 5 other guys and our bill ended up being approximately $540 ($90 per person) while just getting the standard priced meats. There are a number of kbbq spots where you can get similar quality of cuts and a much more fun environment for less than half of the price per person. Of course, if you're wanting kbbq for a big event like an anniversary or a promotion, then this is a solid option.

Korean BBQ… I love Kimchi and Korean Food.. loved the veggie pancake… it had a little kick but I liked it.. after we got the pork belly… I can eat this like pop corn. After came the kimchi stew.. a little be spicy but it was delicious. We got the Galbi supreme beef and a side order of rice. Loved the beef, with kimchi, lettuce and the side dishes. Ordered a bottle sake Wakatake Daiginjo. The only difference from the first time I visited before the pandemic I believe the portions got a little smaller. But loved the food.

Dons Bogam is my go to for Korean BBQ and it’s been a minute. My girl friend and I haven’t seen each other in a while. It was really loud in there, we were seated towards the back. Tables are communal. It’s great for groups! If seated at a BBQ table it can be a little annoying accessing your seat if the tables all around are full. Drinks are about $12-$18. We had the Chandon spritz. My girl friend and I paid for a portion of marinated beef and pork belly $45 + per portion. The pre-selected banchans are plentiful, my favorites are kimchi, mushrooms, Spring onion salad, and marinated lotus root. There are so many choices for Korean BBQ but I find the portions here very generous and the flavor of their marinated beef and pork belly to be top notch. Our entire meal was $139 between the two of us for two entries and 2 drinks. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

This is definitely a great place to experience Korean BBQ. The ambiance is lovely and conducive to moderate sized groups. The food quality is great and the service was what you would expect from a trendy more upscaled restaurant. Everything tasted fresh and the flavors were well balanced.

Like many of the great K-town restaurants, Dons Bogam offers delicious Korean BBQ and fare. I'm high a fan of their seafood pancake and pork belly. The banchan (small plates) are constantly refilled by the servers, who by the way provide stellar service throughout your meal. The ambiance is more modern then your standard restaurants in K-town and is a great place if you're introducing Korean food to someone for the first time. I'd come back again!

Nice, upscale korean bbq restaurant. While the food is very good, portions are small considering the prices. Highly recommend the steak tartare with pear, normal naengmyun (not spicy), and the spicy galbi and the pork belly bbq. Service could use some help though - our servers were not very friendly and somewhat brusk.

The food and atmosphere were fantastic. Spent $100/ea, but it is some of the best Korean bbq around, and it is very modern and clean with mostly attentive staff. Made a reservation for 7, but was not allowed to be seated until most of us were there. Then there were only 6 seats and they had to cram 7 into 6. Had to ask a couple times for more water, sauce, rice, and banchan. Overall good experience and less crowded than the other Korean bbq places in the area.

We were looking for a Korean BBQ that allowed bookings and wasn’t too overpriced. This is it. If you don’t mind the matter in which the seating works, ie you need to climb into your seat, then this place is great. The bbq options are extensive, thou more pork options wouldn’t go a miss. The service is a little manic but it’s what you come to expect in a place like this in the heart of KoreaTown. The martinis were good, so much so we had several Our only real negative point was the noise levels. Hard to hear each other.

Probably my fifth or sixth visit before posting a review, this is a pretty reliable Korean barbecue restaurant in KTown. A couple of things to know, they assume that you will be having barbecue, unless you specify differently. If you’re not having barbecue, they will ask you to move from a barbecue table. If you are having barbecue, they require you to order a minimum of two expensive barbecue dishes. They also warn you about time limits for occupying the table. I believe these are a throwback to the Covid time when they needed to turntables quickly to stay afloat, however, these days it is a little bit offputting to be told that you have to leave the table by a certain time. The service is efficient, but relatively brusque, they could use a little bit of charm school. At this dinner, we had the seafood pancake, the barbecued pork belly, and the Bulgogi. Later we added japchae and tteoboki since a couple of us were still hungry. In the end it was something like $260 for the four of us including three of the small bottles of Soju,, not cheap, but we left with full bellies and satisfied. Would be great if they put a little bit more effort into being even a little bit friendlier.

The staff was courteous and very helpful. Every component of the food was fresh and you can notice the good quality in the meat and the vegetables. Went with my wife and ate the marinated bbq for two people and it was a unique and good experience, the selection of wine and beer is okay. The place looks clean and organized.

Quality tasty meats. Pricey for $55 a plate. Tofu seafood stew was very good Pancake was a bit too doughy. Banchan was very minimal and disappointing. Service is good but nothing was explained. Had different sauces on the table but didnt know what goes with what. Very busy and loud. Huge liquor menu with many options

I used to go and eat here , before covid lockdowns. Went here after a long time .. nothing much has changed . Tough to get seats in the evening or on weekends. Actually love the setup inside with low chairs and grills.. sat outside this time . As always , they bring starters which is sumptuous and awesome . Kimchi, sprouts, bean jelly, radish, seaweed and beef I think. Most of the veggies tasted awesome . I wanted chicken dish , but there weren’t many . Mostly beef. I ordered a spicy chicken dish and it was OK . Not special . Had few asahi too. Overall a good Experience !

Nice place with good service & tasty food. I visited here because If was a Micheline recommended place on the Micheline guide website. It definitely did not live up to those standards but who knows, maybe it was just a marketing thing. I ordered the boneless sliced steak which came with a choice side of seafood soup, steamed rice, & small condiment sides such as kimchi & assorted others. The flavors were good but not great. This was the lunch special $25.95 (June 2025 price) Overall I would say the quality and flavors were good but not amazing. I aim to return here to sample their green tea noodle dish.

Upscale Korean BBQ / Wine Bar in the Ktown district. The good: - Excellent quality of meats, specifically the short ribs. - upscale wine bar ambiance - attentive service - they have a section of japanese style seating, where you can sit cross legged at the table - they also have a cold noodle selection, I have included a picture, great dish for summer The Bad: - Pricy; but it's to be expected for Manhattan and the wine bar upscale Aug 8. 2025: recently visited and the theme of my review here is the same, decent and above quality food, but a tad pricy.

I somehow don't have a photo of their bibimbap, so I apologize for that. Great bibimbap! The seafood pancake was crispy, it was also well-distributed with everything in every bite. The squid was exceptionally chewy and tasty. The sides actually left a great impression on me, not only were they refilled accordingly but the kimchi (perfection), cucumbers (crunchy), soybean sprouts (I loved it), and especially sweet potato were awesome! Also, the sauce. Loved the sauce. It ain't a Michelin-recommended place for nothing! Worth a visit.

This restaurants offers a plethora of authentic Korean dishes, which we were happy to see amongst all the new fusion, “Americanized” Korean food menus in NYC. We really enjoyed everything we ordered: saeng kalbi, kimchi soondubu, kimchi jjigae, and dubu kimchi. All had classic, simple, and clean Korean flavors, and made with notably quality ingredients. Unfortunately, where they fell VERY short was with their service. Our waiter was very short and rude with us, made it seem like an inconvenience for wanting to eat outdoors (they had *plenty* of tables available, and the kitchen was still open), and only came to check on us once throughout our meal. This meant no more water, and anything extra we would actually would have ordered (like more sides, or an extra dish we were considering) was business lost for them. Really unfortunate because the food tasted great. We’d have loved to come back but not worth paying such a hefty bill if there’s a huge lack of service that comes with it. If I’m spending more for great food, the service should be there, too.

Walked into this place because of the lesser wait time compared to its neighbors in K Town. Decor is OK , not impressive. I’ve had better Kimchi pancake. We enjoyed the Bulgogi, loved the chicken salad and appreciated the attentive service.

The service is very slow. Our waiter was not accommodating to refilling our side dishes for our bbq. Very slow service and expensive for the services and quality of meats that we got. One of the other gentlemen was very friendly but unfortunately he was not our waiter. We love wrapping our bbq meat with lettuce. Average pp would be $100 without drinks yet. Dinner was not worth it maybe lunch would be. For $500 meal we can expect better elsewhere.

My first time at a Korean bbq that they cook for you. Food was good but service was too fast. I wanted to relax and eat at a bbq style pace. Price is exaggerated too. Paid 500US for 3. Was not in the restaurant for more than an hour!

This place consistently serves fantastic and fresh food, and I've been here multiple times. My dinner experiences have always been excellent: the food is great, their marinated meat dishes are a must-try, and the staff always recommends the right amount of food. I've never had an issue with dinner reservations, and the service has always been top-notch. However, my recent lunch visit with coworkers was a disaster. The staff working during lunch service seemed far from professional. Our first waiter was mumbling and couldn't recommend anything. He eventually left, and another girl took over. While she did offer some recommendations, we asked her multiple times if we were ordering too much food. Despite my personal experience from previous visits telling me it might be excessive for seven people, she repeatedly assured us it was the "perfect amount" and that I must be mistaken. Unfortunately, even though we were able to eat about three-quarters of what we ordered, it was still way too much food for our group. While I understand the need to upsell, this felt like cheating, as we ended up with a significant amount of waste. Because of this experience, I will never bring my coworkers back for lunch.

I found the food to be pretty good (not amazing) but the prices were noticeably higher than most of the other places in k-town. So the value is not great. For example, that same Baekjong next door has meats that are just as delicious but are $5-10 cheaper. Their alcohol is even worse with cocktails at $17-20 and small soju bottles being sold for $20 that’s way above what you’ll find in surrounding restaurants. I suppose they position themselves as a higher end restaurant as opposed to some of the rowdier establishments. But I didn’t really get any sophisticated vibe: it’s quite small, the decor is average, presentation of dishes is standard.

M
Millie Shi

Not bad at all, although not amazing either. Came as a big group and ordered a variety of bbq - it was all fine, most were tough. Also ordered the seafood platter which for $130 was pretty underwhelming - it’s just a regular hot plate and everything was overcooked and too chewy, especially the scallops and salmon. Pajeon were all too mushy and gummy, but bulgogi tteokbokki was solid. Service was great.

Situated in the middle of Korea town, surrounded by some very good Korean restaurants, Dons Bogam is definitely making a name for itself. Beyond the great ambience, not so great welcome service, friendly wait staff, what really makes this place special is the great quality of meats and food. It can be on the pricier side but the quality of the food and the ingredients make up for it. They also have a good selection of drinks and wines. The service however, felt a little rushed at times. Always have someone cook for you on table. The side dishes are always refilled and renewed. It can get really busy during dinner so reservations are always recommended.

Underwhelmed, I think the bar in K-town is very high for Korean food and while nothing particularly wrong with this restaurant, the food could have been better executed. Bottom line: there are many better options in the area.

I really thought this place was going to be amazing never had Korean barbecue before this was going to be my 1st time. There was so much positive feed about this place of the food the set up the way the restaurant is designed the staff so I was expecting an amazing time needless to say it was not. One thing drove me crazy is that me and my fellow date have never add barbecue and at Korean bbq spot. So I asked my waiter can you help us he said absolutely I'll hook you up with a great experience we are feeling totally confident needless to say we had 5 other waiters and waitresses in I never seen the 1st day I was totally disarranged a had no idea how to experience my dinner the correct way. The food was alright of the meat tasted very salty and in this kind of expensive I feel we paid $150 for honestly I have no idea it didn't seem like a lot of food We didn't drink any alcohol so the 150 was Tolly just on food. Honestly I feel that there's other Korean spots within the city limits that you could probably find a better experience at then here I was Super surprised after noticing that on the door they have the michelin star review guide that in a you have to qualify to be inside of their guide in the 1st place but it doesn't seem that it's been updated in some time check out other ones before you go here #cheflife

We saw this place highly recommended, but were kind of disappointed by service. We saw other tables being treated better than us. For example, no rice was served, whereas others were given rice. We had to ask for individual bowls for the soup, and then they didn’t serve the soup, whereas others were served. Overall we had the feeling we were unwelcomed and rushed in a passive-aggressive way. We were four people with a reservation, showed up early, and spent close to $300 on food, and gratuity was included in the bill. I was trying to show my in-laws a good time in my home city, and this was a damper on their trip from abroad. We don’t know what we did to deserve this treatment. While we can’t be certain, we felt that rac1sm was a factor. We advise this business to give their diverse crowd the same attention and care as their lighter crowd.

Food was really good, but the portions are small and very expensive. I went with a friend for lunch here and we had a reservation which was nice. Place has a nice ambiance. We ordered the 2 person portion with spicy marinated short ribs, marinated rib eye, marinated short ribs and mushrooms. The mushrooms were literally just 4 slices and we were done in no time. It was $109 for very little food though. They were checking vaccine cards though and service was attentive.

Franca Cullen

At Nubiani (half a block away) you eat better, for less money, and they even give you a free dessert. The platter came without the usual Korean stew and egg, and on top of that they didn’t bring the rice, which was the only thing that was actually included in the platter besides the side dishes — we had to ask for it halfway through dinner. Once you’re done eating, they completely forget about you — good luck trying to get the check. To make matters worse, a 25% tip is automatically added and you’re not allowed to change it. The meat itself is good, but I’d recommend going somewhere else where you get more (and better) food for the same price.

You can see below my previous review from several years ago. This used to be my favorite high-end Korean barbecue place in Manhattan. However, the place has really fallen off. The service is awful. The place also doesn't seem to be as busy. So I can imagine the lack of customers feeds into poorer service and vice versa. I do not recommend anyone coming here. ------ One of the best Korean restaurants in K town. I live nearby so have tried them all on 32nd street. Only complaint here is that it's a bit pricey.

Food was good, KBBQ cooking staff was efficient, environment was nice, the main issue is that a staff member heckled us for a higher tip not once, but TWICE. By the second time we had to explain it was because they forgot our drinks and one of our orders and we had to remind the staff. This is unacceptable behavior for a restaurant charging $300+ for a table.

What happened to this Dons Bogam? From the staff rushing the order, quite rude, to the standard of the food, quite similar to shake shack at Madison park. The restaurant wasn’t busy Thursday night. The chicken soup was not comparable to normal. This restaurant was my favorite for a long time until two years ago, then these few months… even the radish and kimchee small dishes aren’t right. I don’t know what cuisine it is. Maybe some key chefs have left, even the bibimbap came out without the toppings and vegetables, tasted like chipotle but a lot oilier on hot stone. The standard had dropped further, not recognizable … the pork dumplings were mushy pork cake inside and the dough was undercooked. We will not be the first few who had noticed the decline. Dons Dons please shake it up.

I go to Koreatown quite a bit as well restaurants in Palisades Park, but this is on my "never go back again list". We spent $426 on Sept 29. Among other items we ordered a Seafood Platter. It came with with a couple of scallops, maybe 4 shrimp and one small lobster. It was burned and overcooked. When I spoke to the manager they offered us another coke. On top the food being subpar, the hefty bill, the customer services was equally as bad. With the wonderful Korean places in K-town I would stay of this one. I think they let their rating go to their head.

Terrible experience!! We ordered the beef brisket. It had basically no meat; just fat. A big pile of fat. The service was awful too. When we arrived, the hostess insisted we would go on the dining area, ignoring the fact we had a reservation for the bbq area. When we mentioned that there was no meat on our order, the server only said that their brisket has a lot of fat, and that other cuts were more lean. The server did not offer any way of making it a better experience for us. It was also very expensive for a kbbq and you would expect a very much higher quality.

Hostess and waitress were both rude. Service was pitiful. Waitress absolutely mascaraed our steak it was disgraceful. Flipped constantly, cut up horribly and cut away so much extra. Just horrible.

I had a reservation at 8:30 for 6 people. Honestly I have been here many times and recommend my friends and family here. The service isn’t the best but I will say the food and quality of meat is not bad for the price. Though I am very sad to say this is my last time there because I feel the the workers do not respect there customer. I always believe in giving 20% tip or more. I do understand that party with 6 or more tip will be included so no problem but when you write on the paper 18% then you should charge 18% not more. I calculated the bill with the subtotal and i saw they put more. I feel like I got scammed and disrespected. That is terrible that you guy do this and I am disgusted. I still payed the 20% because I’m not cheap but I am very disappointed for even introducing this place to my friends for my wife’s birthday. I told the waiter and she even curse under her breath like I don’t understand Korean. I will never recommend this place again. PLEASE BE AWARE OF TIP SCAM!
