This place is a gem. Everything taste so delicious, there are many great dishes, but the wonton soup is my favorite!👍
The food is tasty and delicious. I like the Lu Shui Gourmet. The service is friendly and the price is reasonable.
Fresh food and packaged nice for take out. Open during nyc shutdown so appreciate them being open. Wonton in chili oil very good. Also like the steamed chosum greens.
I would recommend this restaurant. They’re doing good service. The serve food fast. The foods are very delicious. Keep up the good work, Duck Wong
Special wonton noodle soup for $5! Cheap, good and fast. Always something new on the menu to try.
The wonton noodle soup on the front of the menu is awesome. Definitely must try it. Edit: still good noodles and wonton and the appetizers are great.
Tasty food with affordable prices! My fav dish is the wonton soup.
Went to this place for a pre-new years eve dinner. Food was delicious and the service was even better. Will definitely come back.
Prices have gone up due to pandemic but still very affordable. Great taste has not changed. Lots of variety, very HK style.
The wontons are the best! Huge portions at a low cost. The rice dishes and fried rice are pretty good too.
The first Chinese restaurant where I really really enjoy food. It’s always fresh and tasty. I don’t know how they make such a delicious food. Recommend “Kakiage”.
Very large portions for a great price. The food was delicious!
A lot of tasty dishes and noodles soup that you cannot find anywhere else. Recommend pork rinds, brine duck, beef tendon, wonton, pancakes, Mala spicy cutterfish ball, shrimp omelet rice...
It used to be that this restaurant was the epitome of "do few things but do it well". They made excellent wontons and other noodles soup. They are well prepared and freshly made. But since they opened they've continued to innovate and expand their menus to different types of cuisines. They switch between an eclectic selection of Japanese, sichuan, and traditional cantonese tapas. Wonderful!
I had their wonton noodle soup ($5) and added tendon ($3). There's 5 fat pieces of wonton which I thought was a great deal. It was one of the better wonton noodle soup I've had so I will be back to try more of their menu. Their menu is a good size too.
Great place, I love the Mala beef with veggies soup. It's spicy but oh sooooo good. Great selection, friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend.
This cafe/ restaurant of Asian Fusion fare, has the best most delicious wontons in NYC! Pare them with egg noodles or fun and one has the best meal in town at a great price. Owner/ Chef is the best too.
Went there a couple of times when I was visiting family and it was a casual noodle place. Quick service and really good food. My family loves this place, and they usually only eat authentic Chinese food.
Food is fresh and unique. Impressed. Pricey but worth it. I will order again...a nice change from the typical heavy American Chinese Food.
Always packed during lunch, great spot for wontons, noodles, and fried goodies! Much try their sweet and sour pork and seaweed fried fish fillets
Best authentic Chinese restaurant in South Brooklyn.
Love this casual neighborhood restaurant! I wished I lived closer to it though. My family and friends have been here a handful of times since last year and find the staff and owner friendly and polite. In addition, the tasty food is usually served expeditiously. I really appreciate they offer pic menus on the walls and binders. It's a great help for someone like me who can't read Chinese.
They make really good fried rice dishes , their own menu is low key fire. I definitely recommend this location.
Ordered the wonton in Chili oil, it was so good full of meat, big and juicy. The salt and pepper pork chop was delicious, even my daughter can't stop eating it. Also had the bitter melon, hot and sour soup, takoyaki and duck. My husband like the takoyaki, and I love just about everything else. Very small restaurant and they close really early, so come early for some tasty meals.
A small-medium size restaurant in Brooklyn but their food they serve is incredibly delicious. They have the best Mapo Tofu Dish, and it even comes with the Hot and Sour Soup as a side dish. It's although a little high in sodium, so I suggest going for the standard size alone or sharing the large size with a group of friends. They also serve orders very fast, some that serve in less than 4-5 minutes. Great place to dine in or takeout for lunch and dinner. I defintinely say this place deserves to take the spot of being 3rd place for the Top 5 Best dine in places in Brooklyn based on my thoughts and experience there.
Love this place. Haven't had a bad meal. Get the wonton noodles or the jajanmein. They also have different noodle soups and their appetizers are great for sharing (spicy oil trips is my fave). Prices are really affordable and you get a solid meal. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
Good service. They also have recommendations and know the dishes here. They have pictures on the wall but the waiters help tell you what's in there. Food is good. Nothing overly complicated. Their pancake is really good and crunchy
Great place for wonton noodles. The value cant be beat for 5 dollars. Everything else on the menu is also really good. The chili oil is fantastic and you can also buy some for home. Store is very clean and the service is also good.
Seafood is fresh. Wonton noodle fresh and huge portion size. Fast and good.
I order takeout for the most part and the food is always great. Good portions, great prices. I order from here all the time. Today i went in person to pick up my food and the owner (?) Opened the door, greeted us warmly and the atmosphere was just so kind that i was tempted to just sit there and order instead. I will be coming to dine in next time just because of that kindness. Thank you
Local favorite spot! I usually order takeout or delivery, but this time I dined in and it did not disappoint. The food is always amazing, and the staff is incredibly friendly and kind. Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area you might be pleasantly surprised!
The Service is top notch ,Seriously! Great food.
I’ve been counting her for 10+ years, Quality of the food has NEVER changed. You get six enormous wontons and the braised beef stew is tender and flavorful. Wontons full of shrimp and pork. So worth the price. Try it! You won’t be sorry.
Well I had to update the review due to price increases. Still the best bowl of wonton noodle soup can be had for $9. This place is close to the D train and the B1. Only about 8 tables this small joint has a great number of menu items not traditionally seen in a noodle joint. The owner is mostly there every shift to make sure the quality is on point and it still is after nearly a decade on the scene. My faves are the house wonton noodle soup and the curry soups. Pretty affordable as most dishes are less than $20
I moved out of Brooklyn 8 years ago, and whenever I can go back I always miss the food in Duck Wong, the chef’s talent is beyond amazing and their staff is so attentive, not only you going to enjoy the comfort food here you definitely get treated with love 👌 Must try their curry pork chop or curry chicken on fry rice 😋 And one of the side dish that I absolutely enjoy is the pickle, bitter melon squash. 凉拌苦瓜This is a dish that I won’t be able to make it at home and it’s so refreshing and crunchy and garlicky, maybe not on first date 😂 but is a must !
We’ve been coming here for years and it always hits the spot. My normal go-to dishes are the jaja meat sauce fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, or the goo lo pineapple pork. My bf always likes ordering the curry chicken fried rice. This spot is affordable, delicious, and quick. Highly recommend!
I dined in. :) Had general tso and sweet and sour chicken. Really delicious! General tso chicken was a bit sweeter than I expected, it really comes down to your preference. Update Aug 2022: I forgot mention, they make their own hot oil and it's great! The salt and pepper dishes are yummy! The curry fish balls are really good, but be if you get the curry ramen, becareful because the flavor is a bit watered down, but still not bad. I think this place is a decent Chinese restaurant since you don't see a lot of these dishes in your typical Chinese corner places. If the owner makes this resturant have halal options, then they definitely would make even more money since the area also has a lot Muslims and no good decent halal authentic chinese restaurants.
Duck Wong is an amazing hidden gem. I’ve been coming here for almost 3 years now, and not once have their customer service & cuisine failed me. I’ve ordered for both dine-in & takeout countless times. From their jiajia noodles, to their kyoto ribs, to their wonton noodles, everything is outstanding. Plus, they open earlier than most other restaurants in the neighborhood. As I type this review, I’m about to head over right now 🤩🙏
Good place for a quick bite or takeout. Wontons and dumplings are pretty good, and they have some other interesting fusion items like their own rendition of okonomiyaki.
Nice dumplings and wontons noodle soup. Some nice appetizer dishes. The name doesn't really match the food they offer.
You got your simple dishes like wonton noodle soup... And then u get something interesting like seafood hot pot w/ udon in tomato soup.. try the dishes that are shown on the wall and not in the menu..
Used to have one of the best wonton l Noodles soup. Don't know why, it is not as good as before anymore. Still ok, but just ok now.
This is a great local spot with excellent service, amazing prices and such a unique menu. Very traditional food with a very nice presentation. Possibly the best Mapo Tofu I've had in a restaurant. They now take credit cards, as well!
Go here often and the food is very good
From outside it looks like a take out place. Inside it is quite nice. The food was very good. I had won ton soup and general tsou chicken. Both were very delicious.
Delish wontons with spicy oil for decent price. Their noodle dishes are around $7 to start, $3 each additional topping... Making it kinda of pricey.
A delicious fusion of many Asian styles you would not normally find. Prices are just a tad steep but the food is worth it. Try the hot udon soup!
So I normally order takeout and usually they are pretty attentive as I walk in to place my order. The restaurant is small and if you eat there it seems to be you will be tightly pack in there. The food is very reasonable price but it can be a hit or miss. Definitely a small mom and pop shop and the cooking style feels more old school like something my parents would make.
Me and my wife enjoy a lunch together. We got the house pancake and two other dishes. They were delicious. However, I was hope the curry brisket a bit more curryish. We will come back for more later.
They have some of the tastiest and meatiest wontons I’ve ever had. Top notch to be honest! Just wish the other dishes here were as good. 5 stars for the wontons tho! Nice staff as well!
Surprisingly good place for a quick bit. Service was good and fast. This place pumps out alot of food as far as I can tell with the amount of take out they for out doors while my 30 minute stay there. You should give them a try if you like the fusion asian food, but they do service some all time standard Cantonese dishes as well.
Very satisfied with the food, good quality, decent service, tasty dishes. Like most Chinese places on this corridor, they do close early, so you miss out if you want a later night snack.
AFFORDABLE. So so so affordable, I got a curry based noodle (right) and it was only $12, the one on the left was a regular braised beef noodle for $10. The curry broth was so flavorful and my little brother had the one on the left and he finished it all, he even drank all the broth as well. We got 5 items in total and I believe the total came out to about $50-$60. The only downside I would mention is that left one had more meat whereas the curry barely had any meat, just fat or collagen. Same goes for the fried chicken poppers, there was barely any meat, just the fried batter around it, it tasted more like oil than chicken.
Cheap, but not memorable. The noodles still had this weird flavor as if they been using the same water to cook the 100th batch.
The food is good and unique but we wanted to make a simple change on the vegetable one cheap vegetable for another and they were unwilling to do it even when we told them we would pay a couple of dollars more for the switch. Good food poor customer service.
The food is okay but definitely overpriced. Their foods are hits and misses. Ordered a braised beef brisket abura noodle and it came as beef brisket + noodle 😐. They do have different special noodle soups and variety of Japanese inspired snacks. I dined here twice with my family and they didn't check vaccination cards both times 😓
Can’t believe the delivery lady asking me extra tips for her coffee even though we gave her enough. Ad, the food is good but she just delivered so late…
Very overprice for such small portions. Order $30 of food and don't even feel full. They really need to either lower the price or increase the portion size. Unlikely to go again.
The food was OK. The service was rude and slow. Waited forever just to get waited on. Upon leaving we opted to give 10% tips because of the bad service, but then the waitress chased after us yelling and screaming that we didn't give enough tips we gave more so they would stop screaming but this is why tips are optional.
Decent food but unfortunately, terrible service! Definitely not a one time thing either because I've been here several times due to close distance. Not sure why the servers are always talking but never paying attention to the customers. Guess I'll only be getting wontons to go from now on.
For the high price they charge for mediocre food, I'm surprised they are still in business. Portions are small. Service is great, food is mediocre at best, there's better options for that price point in that area espcially.
some of the dishes don’t come with rice but they still charge $10+ for it. also, their general tso’s chicken didn’t taste like anything and lacked sauce.
I ordered through Grub hub since I was looking for something to eat. I got the braised duck, and mushroom rice set. I’ll be honest, everything tasted the same. There was no real complexity to the flavors. All I tasted was sour and tangy. The braised duck didn’t taste like anything but sour and maybe a hint of soy sauce. The mushrooms were probably my favorite part of my meal but even they were enough to justify the $43 dollars I spent with grubhub for the food. The rice was hard like it was left out and they heated it in the microwave. The soup was so sour. I couldn’t even eat it. In the end, I felt like I wasted my money. But I learned my lesson. I picked a place I wasn’t familiar with. I’m happy I discovered it. I just know not to order from there.
Come here for the wonton noodles and prices have doubled in the last 3 years. There's cheaper spots in the area but my friend likes their pork liver watercress congee (which came out lukewarm) usually won't leave a review but decided to splurge and try out some of the assorted braised beef innards. Only ate one of each to try and got the rest to go because I over ordered. Waitress asked if I wanted her to pack or if I should (I had asked for a box to takeout & I said she can pack) | was then asked if I wanted the vegetables in the dish (made up 60-70% of the dish) and I said yes, I love vegetables. Went to the restroom and saw the leftover plate had over half the vegetables still on it so I checked the takeout box (only 75% full) considering how I requested the dish to be packed for takeout I want the whole order, not half. I attached the takeout picture and you can see there's only vegetables covering half of the bottom. Even if it didn't fit in one container I believe she should ve portioned it into 2, but there is obviously enough room. The dish was $22 and cost the price of 2 regular dishes but the portion amount was very disappointing and don't think I'll be back.
In and out, I paid $4 tip for two people. All you did was bring me the food. I didn’t ask for anything extra and they have the nerve to chase me down after I left for an extra $1.50 in tip.
Very terrible customer service. I ordered my food, paid and came back 10 minutes later. When I picked up my order, the cashier couldn't find my order. She went out looking for another customer probably because she gave the wrong order to him. Without any apology, she took my order again. If you can't handle many orders at once, come up with a system where you can remember it correctly.
Service is terrible, food is mediocre. Order wonton soup, is so so. I would go to superior wonton a few blocks down. Service is none, I asked them to help make some small changes to my order 30 seconds after I paid and they tell me, the order is in, they can't help me and that the food is being prepared, didn't even bother to check with kitchen staff. I don't think my order is being prepared less than 30 sec after I made the order. They just don't want to help.
My wife visited the restaurant and ordered 2 main courses, instead of the cashier checking the order when she gave it to us, she asked if my wife ordered something and my wife said yes so the cashier gave my wife a order without checking it. When we got home, we realized the order was wrong entirely, so I called the restaurant and told the so-called owner and manager it was the wrong order, she said it wasn't their fault and that it was my wife's fault, so then this so-called manager and owner told me to go back to the restaurant and get the right order. But I refused to pick up an order that was already cold so I asked for a refund. This so-called owner and manager advised that she cannot do that and was willing to call the police on me. So I stayed there until she got the real owner who then took care of the situation. After getting my refund I was on my way out the door, the same so-called owner and manager wanted to speak to me outside the restaurant, I told her I don't have time to speak to someone that doesn't have management skills and are not the owner of the business, she didn't accept this response and told me that she didn't need the job, then an owner of a bubble tea drink Cafe was so nosey and told me to back off but I told him to mind his damn business. All in all, the customer service at Duck Wong Wonton Restaurant is outrageously terrible and wanted to serve me food that had already expired.
Food is precooked, not hot and not tasty. And kinda expensive for small portions.
Chef took advantage of me of ordering curry chicken with fried rice $12 then decided to give me chicken fat and skin instead of chicken breasts. It was unedible, the chicken was hard and rotten, felt like eating a rotten chicken fat in lumps. It was full of chicken fat, no meat. Will not come to this place anymore. If you buy food from here a lot, they will do some malicious things to your order so now they lost a customer.
The food was good. But the only problem I had was that I wasn’t told there would be a MANDATORY tip to the total of my order. It says no delivery fee but they’re actually tricking you, playing word games. So if you order from this restaurant be aware there will be a delivery fee. Also the female driver rude af. Taunting me said did I just immigrate to America just cuz I never heard of something such as “mandatory tip”. Since when does giving tips a mandatory thing in NY?
TIPPING MANDATORY. We came inside as a party of 3. We were given the menu right away and waitress came back to get our order which amazed us. She remembered all of our orders without jotting them down 👏👏 The food was good. Came out hot, noodles were firm, soup was not overly salty, wontons were substantially packed, and the congee is subtle. Upon payment, the bill we got has percentages of tip at the bottom: 18%, 20%, 22%. I gave the card and left the tip empty as I will be giving cash. The lady spotted it right away and asked if we would like to put the tip in the card. I replied I will leave cash. She gave us back our card, took our receipt, and now gathering our stuff to head out. I placed a $7 tip on the bill plate. She said this is not enough! I said, I'm sorry, what was that. She repeated herself and to which I asked her if she is requiring us to tip her 18%???? She replied other restaurants even ask for 25%!!! I thought I will leave this place satisfactorily but I was just so wrong. Mind you, tipping is not mandatory and gratuity is applicable to party of 6 and above!!! Resorting to comparisons against other restaurant's tipping percentage does not make you favorable at all!! You were tipped but you wanted more!! Never again!!
I am offended by the behavior of the employees of Duck Wong. I ate here with a friend, just the two of us and we ordered 3 dishes totaling $28. The audacity of the employees to ask and chase me down for more tip. I am pretty generous when it comes to tipping if it’s deserving. I get it, we’re tipping based off of the service that was provided. You should never ask for a certain amount of tip ESPECIALLY for a dine in that was approx 30 mins long for two people. $4 was more than enough in my opinion. You just lost a customer.
Delivery order, came spilled curry sauce everywhere. Food is medicore at best. There are better cantonese restaruants around the area. Do not recommend. Wonton noodles were dry, soup lacked flavor. Dumplings were not fresh. Napkins were all soaked in curry sauce. Too much weight and pressure resulted in broken seal (curry rice)
Been coming here for years, how terrible this place has become. To start off ordered delivery today where the female delivery person harassed us and held the door for more tips which is just unheard of. Afterwards we ordered a drunken chicken dish which had literally no flavor and no wine flavoring, I might as well have boiled it myself. Since we know the family that owns it we called up the restaurant to ask if they sent the wrong dish. The lady on the phone said that is just how the dish is, and had the audacity to tell us if we didn't like it to not order it anymore. She said that she would send someone to check out what they had in the restaurant and called back to give a nonsense apology where they marinated the chicken too late and that they would compensate us if we ate there next time. As someone that has been coming here since it first opened it, this place has been on the decline for some time now, you couldn't pay me to eat here. Your staff/delivery people have the worst attitude ever.
The food was good, but the waitress demanded a mandatory tip of 18%, despite already receiving a 15% tip, and the party only consisting of 3 people. The law of NYC states that mandatory tips are recognized when this policy is communicated to the customer prior to ordering. There was no indication of this policy anywhere on the menu nor was it stated anywhere in the restaurant. If a NYC Department Of Labor official reads this review, please investigate this establishment for deceptive business practices. I have occasionally visited this restaurant since its opening, and have never been asked to pay more for tips. In light of this behavior, I will no longer be returning to this establishment.
The soup we ordered had tiny flies floating in it, and I even found two beetles. Guys, please be careful in your kitchen. Mosquitoes, beetles, cockroaches, and flies this delicacy is definitely an acquired taste. I did not enjoy it. Thank you!
