I am a big fan of omakase and I’m glad this place is now available and I don’t have to go to Manhattan. I recommend chef counter and to sit by Chef Jack. He is super focused in his expertise and will make sure you are satisfied. H creates, serves, and also watches your facial expressions on every bite. He understands different people have different thresholds for their palate and will check in and make sure you are well taken care of. Also, other staff member are very nice and welcoming and make your satisfaction their main priority thumbs up! The place is clean and intimate -perfect for omakase experience! Definitely recommend!
Outstanding Omakase experience at the counter, charred flamed Wagyu was probably the highlight together with black miso seabass and, unexpectedly, the scallop with black garlic powder! Delightful!
I had such a relaxing omakase experience here. The space is open and comfortable, so I never felt crowded or rushed. The chef explained each course in detail, which made it really interesting and special. The staff were attentive but never intrusive. For the quality and amount of food, I think it’s excellent value. Highly recommend if you want a calm, spacious omakase with amazing service.
This is a fantastic place! My fiancée took me here for my birthday celebration - and the experience was amazing! We had the omakase testing set; the food was incredible fresh and the presentation was gorgeous! Our chef and his colleagues were very welcoming and attentive, we felt amazing this whole experience! Highly recommend this place, we are definitely be back to celebrate something special again! 🥰
Definitely recommend Ishi Omakase! The omakase was absolutely amazing, the servers and chefs were so warm and welcoming. The servers were always attentive and refilled our waters and drinks often. I made a reservation for the Chef's Counter Experience, they do this every 2 hours (4pm, 6pm, 8pm). We started off with the Amuse (3 little appetizer dishes) & then after came the Miso Cod & a Kanpachi appetizer. We were served 12 nigiris, a toro temaki handroll, miso soup, and 2 desserts. Everything was so delicious & super enjoyable! We went to celebrate our anniversary and received a delicious complimentary cake, so sweet of them! We're so glad we came to Ishi for our special ocassion. We'll definitely come back for sure!
Amazing omakase counter experience at Ishi. The chef came out to greet us as we were seated. Japanese starters were given upon arrival. Every piece of omakase was its own ecosystem of flavor and flair. The presentation was personable and professional. I went here last night, and I am still swooning over every bite
Fantastic Omakase experience. The selections had a great variety, lots of unique flavors, delicious ingredients and quality service.
This was our second time at Ishi. The food is creatively delicious and the staff is very nice. Ishi is much better value than a few Manhattan restaurants we've been to. The atmosphere is also great: elegant and modern design, peaceful music, conducive to enjoying the food.
The counter experience was unforgettably amazing! We didn’t eat sushi but pure flavor bombs that would explode in your mouths. The wagyu, the fatty tuna, the truffle, oh wow. Chef Jack is extremely skillful. The level of craftsmanship is unbelievable. The only nitpicking I have is that the chopsticks were disposable chopsticks. Real wooden ones would certainly make the experience perfect! We will certainly go back soon.
The omakase was 10/10 and sitting at the chefs table was so special. We did the 6pm booking on a Wednesday and it was quiet, which enabled us to chat with the staff, chef, and other customers. It was a really nice intimate setting and they brought so much more to the experience by sharing additional information about the food. Highly reccomend!
I brought my mom who was visiting her home city here and she called it an unforgettable evening. The omakase was 12 pieces for $125. We were full after the service and didn’t require additional pieces. Ambiance is very elegant and intimate. Food was amazing and I highly recommend this spot.
If I could give 10 stars, I would. We sat at the counter for our anniversary celebration, and had an amazing dinner and experience. Watching the master chef prepare each piece with such care and detail, adds to the wonderful evening. Each dish was incredible and delicious. A fabulous restaurant and evening.
Went here with the wife to celebrate. This has to be hands down the best omakase we've ever had. For the price it is 100 percent worth it. The amount of food was perfect but did place 1 more order of our favorite pieces. The artic char with truffle was life changing. The chef are masters at their craft and Jack was an amazing host. We will be back for more!
The actual omakase experience was a bit less intimate even at chefs table than what I've had in the past, but the quality of the food and luxurious taste of the omakase made up for it. The variety of dishes that were provided including wagyu A5 beef and sea urchin, fatty tuna, truffle, hand roll, and all the fish was just absolutely delicious. They we're also kind enough to remember our anniversary and provided us a cake that was decorated. Overall very pleasant chef side omakase experience
Really great sushi and great atmosphere, the staff were very friendly and it felt like having a meal with friends. The pieces you know will be great (toro, wagyu, etc.) were great but they also had the best scallop I’ve ever had with delicious black garlic. I’ll be back.
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner and the food was divine. Their take is mostly traditional but with a modern twist. The restaurant was so clean and had beautiful plates to accompany the beautiful food they served. The service was also top notch and so attentive. They actually sang for me while bringing out a slice of cake! 🍰 (●´□`)♡ We each got the omakase set and they start off by giving you Japanese side dishes that were so delicious. There was so much attention to detail, down to the temperature of the food too. Once they start giving you the sushi, it was just an explosion of flavor and freshness after another in your mouth. I honestly can't even choose favorites because I loved all of them so much. There was one that really stood out tho–the scallop with pepper and yuzu. (omg craving it as i write this) They used suuchh high quality ingredients, most/all of them coming straight from different parts of Japan! We were sitting at the very end and got chatting with an elderly gentleman who might be the owner of the place. He's so knowledgable and was just spitting facts about all these different types of fish from Japan. Really really enjoyed our time and did not regret a single $ spent cause soo worth it!! Seriously a hidden gem. Pls go!! <3
Great omakase experience! I've been to a lot of omakase places in Manhattan but it's not always easy to commute. I've always wanted a really good omakase spot closer to me in Brooklyn. Definitely will be back! Highly recommend if you want to try high quality sushi and don't want to travel so far.
From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted! We happened to get there a little early and they sat us down at the counter until the rest of our seating arrived. The cold tea they served was super refreshing on such a humid day. Our favorite pieces were the A5 Wagyu, which they even showed us the certificate and the uni, we even ordered more at the end! The service was great and we got matcha ice cream with red bean to finish off the meal. This was one of the best omakase meals I have had and for the price would definitely come back again!
Went for omakase on a Friday night. Thought the fish was great quality. They intermixed dishes that were not sushi to keep it interesting. They innovated on a lot of sushi that was hybrid like uni with toro. Great drink list without overwhelming number of options. Service was really top notch, getting our glasses filled and plates swapped out, always a clean hand wipe available on a dish if you want to eat the sushi with your hands. I think the place is new to the neighborhood and I highly recommend checking out!
Perhaps the best meal we’d had all year. Don’t be fooled by the humble exterior, it’s a purposefully hidden gem run by a former NOBU Executive Head Chef. They were amazingly adept at accommodating my miso allergy, which is a tall order at a sushi restaurant. The yuzu sake was excellent. Without a doubt, choose to sit at the counter. It’s worth it.
I celebrated my birthday at Ishi and it was one of the best birthday meals I’ve ever had. The omakase was delicious, with lots of uni, caviar, and a variety of some of the freshest and most melt-in-your-mouth fish I’ve ever tasted. The restaurant is very zen and the lack of noise and distraction allows you extra focus on the delicious sushi you’re eating. The hospitality is also next level- especially sweet when the staff and sushi chefs sang HBD to me. Highly recommend Ishi for a delicious and special omakase meal
One of the best omakase spots in Brooklyn! Very delicious, high quality sushi all packing with flavor. I booked a reservation at the bar with my gf. The sushi chef was very friendly and talkative. He answered all my questions and made sure we enjoyed the experience and food. All the servers were highly attentive and friendly. Would come back again for sure!
Thoroughly enjoyed the counter omakase experience in this neighborhood spot that I’ve been eyeing for a while. We went for a super early dinner at 4pm and almost had the whole restaurant to ourselves ☺️ Loved the sushi and will definitely return!
This place delivered the best meal of my entire life! I brought my boyfriend for his birthday dinner, and we were BLOWN away at how good the service and the fish was! Every bite was a new adventure texturally and flavor wise. The selection of different fish was amazing! Come with an open mind and an empty stomach, you will not be disappointed! Also, shout outs to Jefferson who made the dinner incredible by telling us about every ingredient and giving delightful conversation! We will be back!
Having experienced omakase in Japan, Hong Kong and NYC, I would rate Ishi Omakase as a true gem of premium omakase. Tucked away in Park Slope, Brooklyn, they offers an 18-course omakase for $125, including 2 appetizers, 12 nigiri, 1 handroll, miso soup, 2 desserts. From the fresh ingredients to the thoughtful flavor pairings, the perfectly timed pacing, and the attentive service, every detail was so intentional. Our server was very knowledgeable, explaining every course and the ingredients used. The tables around us were celebrating birthdays and anniversaries--a clear sign that this is a great spot for special occasions, and rightfully so. Their menu highlighted seasonal ingredients, starting with firefly squid as a starter. The miso black cod was one of my favorite of the night - incredibly creamy and rich in umami. To our surprise, we were even treated to a complimentary EXTRA course--Matcha Soba with Snow Crab, Ikura and Black Truffle. The 12-piece nigiri selection featured crowd-pleasers like toro with caviar and scallop, but the Miyazaki A5 Wagyu truly stole the show. Our chef even brought out the wagyu certification. My second favorite was the Hokkaido Uni Toro Ikura--a heavenly bite. The uni literally melted in my mouth, while the ikura burst with sweet brininess, balanced by the buttery toro. Instead of using salmon, they opted for Artic Char with Truffle for a more delicate flavor. The Sea Eel was seasoned in the most minimalist way, allowing the clean, natural taste of the fish to shine. We ended the meal on a high note with two delicate desserts. The Tamago Egg Omelette had a sponge cake-like fluffy and bouncy texture, while the Kanmi Sweet konjac jelly was a refreshing, subtly sweet finish that wrapped up the night.
This is by far the best sushi restaurant we have been to, and I would dare say it’s better than some Michelin star places. Not only is each course extremely unique and full of flavor, from sea urchin, to Wagyu, the service is extremely attentive. The chef that was serving us has been preparing sushi for 30 years and it shows. We were so delighted by our experience - it was truly a huge highlight for us. Skip the hype restaurants and try Ishi instead. We will be back.
What a wonderful omakase counter dining experience! The pacing of the courses was just right…allowed for a pause, conversation, and a drink before the next piece hit your plate. I’ll let the pictures do the talking on the food because otherwise you’ll just have to taste it. While the staff and chefs are truly professional, I felt relaxed and at ease through the entire evening. The service is incredibly attentive and friendly. And while they have an extensive sake menu and quality beers, if your hankering for a whiskey you’ll need to pregame (I snagged a quick Macallan 12yr on the rocks next door at Alchemy Tavern before arriving).
Outstanding meal - everything was fresh, unique and exceptionally delicious. Service was excellent and more over staff are extremely friendly and warm. 10/10 will definitely be back!!! Highly recommend. Oishi!
What a fantastic experience. Fresh sushi with an elegant presentation. The selections were amazing and very thoughtfully planned out. A tantalizing grouping for youth taste buds. I highly recommend Ishi Omakase Sushi.
The counter experience delivers an incredible omakase experience that’s absolutely worth the $125 per person! From the start, every course was thoughtfully prepared, with standouts like the uni on sweet shrimp, rich toro topped with caviar, and perfectly seared scallop nigiri—all so fresh and flavorful that we couldn’t resist ordering seconds. Each piece had the right balance of seasoned rice and melt-in-your-mouth fish, with simple garnishes that enhanced the natural flavors. The counter experience felt intimate and engaging, and every bite left us excited for the next. For an omakase that’s high on quality but doesn’t break the bank, Ishi hits all the right notes. Will be returning!
We did the 18 course and it was perfectly filling. Bar seating is only for the 18 course. My only critique is that their homemade soy sauce brushed on the pieces is a bit sweeter than I liked, but that's just personal preference. Otherwise, each piece was nicely crafted and the chef and staff were lovely! I really liked their Amuse and Amberjack app + my FAVE pieces of my experience were the Scallop, A5 Wagyu, Horse Mackerel, and Otoro (added piece). The Miso Soup was served after the omakase pieces, which was different than other omakase exps, but it was still hot and comforting. The peach lychee jelly dessert was a refreshing way to end the course!
**Restaurant Review: Ishi Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY** 🍣✨ Ishi Park Slope delivers yet another incredible Brooklyn omakase experience, firmly solidifying its place among the borough's must-visit sushi spots. 🍱 Our evening at Ishi featured 18 courses, but the chefs surprised us with a special off-menu dish, making it a delightful 19-course journey. 🎉 From start to finish, the dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. 🌟 The meal began with an amuse-bouche of vegetables 🥕🥦, a refreshing prelude to the culinary adventure that followed. Highlights included the **miso black cod** 🐟, **amberjack**, and **striped jack with shima aji** 🦑, each piece showcasing the fish's pristine quality. The **gold-eye snapper** and **threadfin bream** were delicate and flavorful, while the **Arctic char with truffle** was a standout, with its buttery texture and earthy aroma. 🍄🐟 The **botan ebi and uni** 🍤🦄 brought a sweet, briny contrast, and the **Hokkaido scallop** 🐚 was a pleasant surprise—sweet, fresh, and so well-prepared that my boyfriend, who usually avoids scallops, loved it without issue. 💕👏 Moving into richer territory, the **fatty tuna with toro caviar** 🐟✨ and the **horse mackerel** 🐠 were impeccable, but it was the **Miyazaki A5 Wagyu** 🥩🔥 that stole the show. This Japanese wagyu, with its melt-in-your-mouth tenderness, was like eating butter—absolute perfection. 🧈👌 The **uni toro ikura** 🍣🧡 and **anago sea eel** 🐡 were equally sublime, offering depth and umami with every bite. 🤤 The evening concluded with a series of thoughtfully crafted dishes: the **toro takuan temaki** 🌯, **miso soup** 🍜, **tamago** 🍳, and the delightful **kanmi sweet** 🍬—a lychee jelly candy that perfectly capped off the meal. The meticulous presentation of each course 🍽️, coupled with the skill and attentiveness of the chefs 👨🍳, elevated the entire experience. 🌸 At $125 per person 💵, Ishi is worth every penny. The quality of ingredients, artistry of the plating 🎨, and immersive omakase journey make it a **10/10** in my book. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you're considering an omakase, don’t hesitate—this is an experience that will redefine your appreciation for sushi. 🥢🍣🍶
Ishi is an excellent omakase addition to the neighborhood and does not disappoint. You sit down for your reservation and usually get served at the same pace as those around you. The fish is fresh, you can definitely tell that. The menu is picked carefully and flows nicely through your meal. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for omakase nearby!
I LOVE Ishi so much... This was my favorite omakase experience in NYC! Brought my parents here for their anniversary and their first ever Omakase. The ambiance is lovely. The interior is warm, inviting and intimate. Staff is very welcoming. The food is AMAZING and high quality. Every single piece was delicious and we were so impressed. I will definitely be back. There are so many great omakase places in NYC but this was the first that made me want to revisit even without a special occasion to celebrate. Thank you to the team at Ishi for such a wonderful experience!
On the corner of Park Slope’s 5th Ave and St Marks bear Barclays is an amazing Japanese restaurant, Ishi Omakase. Outside is simple yet elegant meeting an L-shaped sushi counter as you open the doors. Ishi’s friendly host seated us promptly and we ordered a couple Sapporo’s and the counter experience for $125. This delicious meal consisted of a 3-dish amuse, three appetizers, eleven nigiri’s, onetemaki, a miso soup, and dessert. Their friendly and attentive Chefs and staffs will introduce you to every course. You can tell the quality culinary ingredients and techniques from each and every bite. Miso soup was served last as opposed to the beginning to wash your palate after the meal. A small piece of homemade sponge cake also accompanied the soup right before a simple yet amazing strawberry jelly for dessert. By Barclays and looking for an omakase? Look no further and go experience Ishi a couple blocks down!

Just had an incredible omakase experience at Ishi Omakase 🍣✨ We indulged in their 18-course menu for $125, featuring an amuse-bouche, 12 pieces of nigiri, a temaki handroll, miso soup, and a kanmi sweet. The flavors and textures were absolutely divine, with the freshest fish sourced from select suppliers in small batches. 🐟 Even the A5 wagyu comes with a certificate of authenticity, so you know it’s the real deal. And the wasabi? Made fresh daily right on the premises. Truly enjoyed every bite and can’t wait to go back! 🍣💯 Follow @spinx17 for more NYC food recs!

This newly opened sushi place is fantastic!! Sushi chefs are professional and nice. I love the Japanese supervisor looking after all the food and customers. We had the $125 set omakase and filled up well! The quality worth more than the price. Extra piece would be $6. If you are in Park Slope and Brooklyn, check it out, and you won’t be disappointed.
Brought my girlfriend here to celebrate Valentine’s Day and her birthday as well. Not too familiar with omakase experiences but had absolutely nothing negative to say about the food. Fish tasted fresh and simple. Service was exceptional, warm and friendly. Immediately felt welcomed and at home. Also brought us a surprise birthday cake at the end.

Had an enjoyable omakase experience here. We were able to make a reservation for Saturday dinner on the day of. Service was excellent. Overall a great place for an intimate celebration. We had the table tasting course with 10 nigiris. Felt full and satisfied from the meal. The sushi tasted fresh and well-executed, I especially liked the otoro and tuna with aioli. Also loved the mountain vegetables from the amuse course. Portions were generous for each person. Was sad the uni fell off on one of the pieces a moment after it was served, otherwise it was delicious. Serving the miso soup at the end as a palate cleanser before the dessert was a nice touch.
We visited Ishi Omakase Sushi & Premium Sake yesterday and overall had a good experience. The service was attentive and accommodating. We opted for table seating instead of the counter to make things easier with our child. We chose the $105 omakase option and added the Miyazaki A5 Wagyu & Truffle. While the presentation was elegant, the Wagyu & Truffle was a bit disappointing, it fell apart as soon as I tried to eat it, which took away from the texture and enjoyment. The rest of the meal was okay, not mind-blowing, but solid. The ambiance was calm and refined, and the staff made us feel welcome throughout.
Really good value for omakase! Nothing extremely special though and there wasn’t one item that stood out but I would come back bc of the price point. You can’t really find 18 piece omakase for $125 in the city.

Good, but not as good as we would have hoped, given the price point. We didn't love most of the starters (with an exception for the tuna), and while the fish in general seemed like good quality, it wasn't outstanding. There were a few pieces that were fantastic, but each piece had some sort of topping and some of them didn't land well. We did table service, so it may be better at the sushi bar.
I'm actually so disappointed I have to write this.... Save your money, my bf and I go Omakase hopping like 3 times a month. Toka kitchen in LES by far blows everyone out the water.... We made reservations for the day before valentines day. We got table service though we would've rathered opted for the $125 counter option. We choose the highest priced courses at $105 pp. They started us off with the smallest bowl of endamame, and two other bowls of..... Seasonings? Idk, one tasted like dried okra, the other like peanut butter? So no 3 appetizers... Then came the nigiri.... We flew right through eating every single one of them, nothing super mind blowing or special... The handroll was like our favorite thing. Can't even remember the taste or texture of any of the desserts. For a $300 bill before our $60 tip (because its not the servers fault the food is subpar) it was just blasphemous. We're still talking about how terrible of a date night this was. We even literally stopped at another restaurant like 20 minutes later because we were hungry again. Probably the worst Omakase experience I've ever had.. Toka you have my heart.
