Montesacro is highly praised for its authentic Roman cuisine, especially the pinsa and pasta dishes like carbonara. The back garden is a popular spot for a romantic ambiance. Service can be slow at times, but the overall experience is usually excellent.

I absolutely loved this Mezze Maniche alla carbonara. From the first bite, it was pure comfort. This is the kind of dish I could happily order again and again. Simple, comforting, and done so well. Definitely one of my favorites.
Not a huge fan of going out to dinner for Valentine’s Day but they ran a tight operation. Outdoor garden was a colder than expected. Overall a good time.
This restaurant specializes in Roman-style street food and executes it with unusual precision. The pinsa arrives with a crust that is light, structured, and crisp at the edges, with an interior that stays airy without collapsing under its toppings. The dough has a clean, well-developed flavor and a texture that suggests careful fermentation. The one I tried was balanced rather than overloaded, allowing the ingredients to remain distinct. The tomato base tasted fresh and bright, the cheeses were properly melted without greasiness, and the sausage was sliced perfectly. The supplì are equally well handled. The rice is tender but not soft, bound just enough to hold its shape when fried. The coating shatters cleanly, giving way to a centered core of mozzarella that stretches without becoming rubbery. The seasoning is confident and consistent, and the ratio of rice to filling is thoughtful. They arrive hot, crisp, and structured, without excess oil. Dessert is a flourless chocolate cake that stands on its own merits. It has a dense, smooth crumb and a deep cocoa profile that avoids being overly sweet. The texture is even and velvety, with a slight resistance at the edge that gives way to a rich interior. It tastes focused and deliberate, not ornamental. Service is attentive and steady, and the pacing between courses feels measured rather than rushed. The room is comfortable and understated, allowing the food to remain the center of attention. Overall, it is a place that demonstrates technical control and respect for its ingredients, resulting in dishes that are satisfying without excess.
One of the best vegan pizzas ever be ever had. The dough was 11/10, and the toppings were all amazing. Large sizes and very homemade tasting. No non dairy cheese, just red sauce and toppings. Other group members liked their traditional pizza and carbonara pasta. Great drinks, cozy atmosphere during a blizzard. Overall perfect experience
Really great meal, lovely staff, good atmosphere (maybe a little noisy when you’re a table of 6 but only cos I’m getting old and my hearing sucks) Loved the bolognese pasta, any pizza you order will be great too, and the flourless chocolate cake was fabulous. Chicken maybe a tad too salty for my liking but a good Negroni always makes up for that. Feels like a consistently delicious restaurant.
Delicious wood fired pizza (pinsa) and pasta and the cocktails are pretty good too. Generally plenty of seating in their huge back area. Got the spicy honey pizza and it was great.
Beautiful date night spot with a back garden. Stopped in to pick up a pinsa quadraro. It was perfect. Flavorful crispy airy dough with savory smoky guanciale. It's hard to eat other pizza after this. Their pinsa are a must try! Looking forward to coming back and trying their pasta.
Love this place. The food is very consistent and has a genuine Roma flavor. Pinsa is excellent and all dishes are prepared with skill and quality ingredients. Evenings in the back conservatory have a great vibe. Staff are efficient and attentive. Really what's not to like.
It was our first time here, and it was a great experience overall! The pinsa was excellent, light, flavorful, and perfectly baked. The pasta was tasty too, though the portion was quite small and it could have been cooked a bit more al dente. The atmosphere in the back room is romantic and very charming. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Montesacro was a great place to have a solo dinner. I sat at the bar. The staff is friendly and service is quick. I ordered the Carbonara and Tiramisu, both were amazing. I also had a glass of Pinot Noir. I’ve had better, but it was fine overall. When I dine alone, I like to read a book. The noise volume was conducive to doing so.
SUCH A GEM OF A PLACE, we can’t wait to go back!!!!!!! Didn’t take nearly enough pictures. But we got the gem lettuce fennel salad, the lamb ragu pasta and the eggplant pizza. AND THE PINSA PISTACCIO FOR DESSERT. I think we ordered perfectly, I’d recommend allllll of those. I’m drooling thinking about it. Also the drinks were phenomenal.
Montesacro delivered an unforgettable experience. The pinsa was incredible – light, crisp, and full of authentic flavor. What truly made the evening stand out was the service. Our waiter brought a unique blend of warmth and professionalism, with a kind of Mediterranean–Eastern European charm that gave the whole evening a special touch. He had an effortless way of making us feel at home while keeping everything perfectly on point. Combined with the amazing food, this made our visit one to remember. Highly recommended!
We had a large festive, private lunch in the garden. Everything was exceptional: contact with and professionalism of the crew, the food and wine (so many people raved about them afterwards: pinsas, cacio e pepe, steak, artichoke, arancinis, tiramisu, PANNACOTTA!), catering to dietary needs (vegan/vegetarian), the vibe, kind, smiling waiters. Price/quality ratio unbeatable. Believe me, I checked. I cannot thank you enough, Emanuel and the team!
I am on vacation from California and came here tonight for the very first time and I was beyond impressed! The food here was EXCELLENT!! As someone who is Italian and travels regularly to Italy every year, the food here made me feel like I was over there in Italy. The food at Montesacro is 100% AUTHENTIC. The service here was also EXCELLENT! The staff were very friendly and helpful and I also liked the restaurant itself as well. It is very clean and inviting. I liked the decor. Was very elegant and felt warm which I liked. You can tell the owner has a lot of pride in their food and restaurant. It really shows. This place has to be one of the BEST Italian restaurants I have ever been to!! It really is that good and if you are in New York and want true, genuine Italian food with a fine dining experience that is reasonable. This is DEFINITELY the place!!
I went here on the first night of the blizzard and was so grateful they were open. It’s a small, cozy spot with a warm, welcoming atmosphere… the perfect place to escape the storm. The food was incredible: the pappardelle with oxtail was to die for, and the gem salad couldn’t have been better. Service was excellent from start to finish. I’ll definitely be back!
Walked in on a Friday night and was seated immediately. The people after us were offered seats at the bar while they waited for a table, so I would say get there earlier if you don’t set a reservation. My friends and I ordered a bowl of cacio e pepe and each got a pizza to split. The casal bertone was everyone’s favorite! The perfect combo of flavors combined with that crispy guanciale (don’t let this scare you away if you’re not used to it) had us all wanting more. The infernetto was okay, nothing spectacular honestly but still good to me. A tougher sauce critic at the table rated it lower. We didn’t really enjoy the Tufello. It felt like it was missing something, so that one we didn’t finish. If you’re drinking, the Caligola was great and I could see myself ordering that every time. Our Arnold Palmer critic said “it was all Arnold and No Palmer…1/10”. Our waitress was kind enough to remove it from the bill. I would recommend this place to others. It’s a nice vibe inside for sure and overall you’ll enjoy the food
The back garden area is really nice to sit in. The food was really good, I have no complaints about that. Only thing that was disappointing was the service, it took extremely long for every step of the meal. The servers were nice when they did come but we waited around 35 min before we got our appetizer (and our drinks came after 20).
Made reservation on OpenTable for a special occasion and even stopped by two nights beforehand to see if there was any way to reserve a specific table for our group. Unfortunately, the server working at the time wasn’t welcoming, wouldn’t take my name, and just told me it wasn’t possible - it would be first come, first served even with a reservation. On the actual night, I arrived 45 minutes early, and the host who greeted me at the door was also not warm or friendly. I felt like I was being a bother just by asking 2 questions. For such a special occasion, it was disappointing that the table offered to us was right by the entrance. When I politely asked to move more toward the back, the host seemed annoyed. Thankfully, once we were seated, everything turned around. Our server was absolutely fantastic - warm, attentive, and made us feel truly cared for. The food was also incredible! We had drinks at bar after and the bartender was not welcoming either. This restaurant has so much going for it, but a little more warmth and hospitality at the front would go a long way in making the full experience match the quality of the kitchen and restaurant service team.
Pretty place The service was so slow… it’s not bad, but it’s not good. Heard the pasta was good so we tried two pasta dishes and both were just okay. I was thinking about trying the pines but the pics didn’t make it look as good.. and when I saw it just looked okay.. maybe I should’ve tried it but this review is for the pasta.. Noodles were good but nothing to rave about. Flavors weren’t particularly special or unique.
The brunch food is unbearable - over salted and drenched in fake-tasting butter. Sent back some messy looking and tasting pasta but the replacement eggs Benedict was barely any better. Squash flowers dish was acceptable but not amazing. The backyard garden has a nice aesthetic but you can't eat vibes. Service was kind of slow as well and I've never had a server just abandon the payment device at the table and force us to do the card payment splits on our own before. Even if it's not difficult, this place is not cheap enough for self-checkout.
