This place is magnificent. The service is excellent! Everyone taking orders is professional and friendly. The delivery men are always on time! Their eggplant parmesan hero, chicken cutlet parmesan hero and the pizza is out of this world! I would give this place a million stars of I could!!!!
Captain Picard ate a slice here. Great local pizzeria with a decent slice and fantastic staff. They are fast as all get-out, patient with those of us who have little kids, and just fabulous. A great local NY neighborhood pizza joint.
Consistently kind when all I come in for is a fountain selzer. True Gentlemen! I don't sit too long cos they're busy. Bathroom is always clean, but you must ask for the key which is fair, and they stay open til 130 am many nights.
I’ve been going here for years whenever I was in the area. This was a staple after a day at shopping in the area or going to a dr appointment. I am surprised that they are still going strong after all these years. Especially during the pandemic. I would definitely always go here as one of my places for pizza.
My corner pizza place - a NYC iconic type of spot. These guys are dedicated and there all the time making a solid NYC slice! It's not DiFara or some gourmet slice - but their grandma slice is solid as is their regular slice, always fresh and hot. There's ample seating at this corner slices spot so you can sit with a can of root beer and enjoy those slices too!
Great Italian food choices and pizza!! The workers are pretty fast paced and great to their customers. Service is on point. This pizzeria is too good, they need a bigger location to accommodate more customers. Though this location is definitly a money making lacation, and the fact that they have great pizza, and other food choices, I'm sure they make a killing!! 😁
Best pizza 🍕 ever Amazing service
It's greasy, it's stuck in the past, it's fast, it's wonderful, I hope it never changes. Good normal NY pizza, cheap enough, open late every night, perfect if you get off at the 7th Ave stop. Not much else to say, this is the best pizza in the neighborhood in our opinion. No nonsense.
Pizza is good. They have a salad slice that is my favorite. As an Italian I'm not a big fan of all this new specialty slices. I'm traditional but I tried it thinking it's could be a good change of pace since I pizza atleast 3 times a week. Blew me away how much I enjoyed it. Happy I stepped out of my comfort zone
Quick, friendly, good pricing, variety of choices, and my go to pizzeria in the Park Slope neighborhood. Others around are okay but more expensive as well. So Smiling is certainly the better value in my opinion. I'd recommend this place first before trying the others in the area.
Smiling Pizzeria is in Brooklyn on 7th Avenue and 9th Street and the F-Train right there and just blocks from Methodist Hospital this Place is good to get a Pizza on the go or stay and enjoy your meal they have a variety of Pizzas to choose from and etc. The service was fast and very friendly one Man even put a smile on my face lol Check them out if you're in the area 🍕🥤😋😋❤❤
Smiling has been my go to for pizza in the area since I was in H.S. over 2 decades ago and it warms my heart to know that the pizza is still perfect and the staff is still awesome. My favorite is the baby pizza w/ extra chees and pepperoni!! It never fails me!!
Love this Park Slope pizza joint. I always stop there for lunch when I'm in Park Slope NY for business. They have a great brick-oven pizza there. The rumors are true, Smiling Pizza is making the name to be a Brooklyn's best pizza! The crust is amazing - tangy, charred, and crisp. It stands up to the wonderful topping offerings very well. No soggy crust here! It is not your typical pie (though they do have a margarita pie too) and you should get it for bases of comparison. Their salad pizza and white pizza (pizza with a dressed salad on it) are a nice surprise and you should give it a shot. The pepperoni pizza there - you can't just stop eating it and you just want more and more... The mozzarella sticks with Marinara Sauce are just amazing, so soft and tangy...so yummy! And they even have espresso shots if you like. The atmosphere is cozy with lots of old times feel. There are large communal tables and smaller cozy tables. It's also an "open" kitchen place so you can see how they make the pizza right there. Take out is great, but sitting there is where it's at. The staff is always happy and will greet you with a smile on their faces. I recommend this Brooklyn Pizza to any one working there or driving by Park Slope.
Since I was a kid I've loved smiling pizza. Always been my favorite and I've recommended it to anyone I know that has visited Brooklyn. I'm 31 years old now and live in the Philadelphia area and STILL find myself driving to Brooklyn at least once a month for some of the best pizza ever!!! Try the fresh mozzarella pie, people!!
I used to have a house across the street from here and I've been going since it opened in the 80's if I recall correctly. It's a tradition for me at this point and a fast paced Brooklyn pizzeria as you would expect. Counter service, well worn, good pizza. Heaven on earth and I make it a point to stop here when I'm in town. Good times and memories for me.
I finally found a place that lives up to the reputation of great NYC pizza!!
My go to pizzeria when im in the area. Their pizza 10/10. My daughter and I love their broccoli slice. If you haven’t tried it you must! Their baked ziti & caesar salad is also very delicious. They have yummy zeppoli & they have baby pizza (mini personal pizza) The guys are nice & take care of you quick You can sit and eat Definitely worth it
Anytime I work near here I ALWAYS visit this pizza shop...EXCELLENT PIZZA!!!!
Rare authentic NYC slice like they made in the old days! Delicious!
Great authentic Brooklyn old school slice🍕
A classic neighborhood slice. Cash for purchases under ~$10 (or something like that). They have an ATM.
Never fails. They have so many customers coming in and out pizza is always fresh.
The food is great and the place looks like 1987.
Oh Boy! Smiling pizza has not changed! Conveniently located for bus or subway or pedestrian customers, the staff is attentive, friendly and efficient. The pizza is the best, I ordered two pies, zeppoles and sausage and pepper rolls to take home 70 miles north. Can’t visit Brooklyn without authentic NY pizza that’s the best.
I love this pizza. Been going to this spot for more than 30 years. Their pizza has always been amazing!! Let's not even get started with the dishes they make too. And the zeppoles are so good. I can go on and on. I will always eat here!!!!
Had the perfect pie with my fiancée this week. Manager even came up to us to say hi with a big smile. Told him the pie was perfect. Our pie was delivered to our table. Had so much fun.
Used to eat here regularly in 2005 when I lived in the area. Extremely excited that they’re still here 20 years later. the foccacia is still delicious.
My family loves this place the pizza is excellent the price is what it is the guys are friendly and very aware of their customers thank you. Atmosphere is good clean its tight when their at peak time.
Best pizza in Brooklyn! Or what am I saying! Best pizza I have ever had. Period! Before today, it was 10 years ago when I had Smiling Pizza last, before moving to Staten Island. After that, no pizza ever was satisfactory. Today I remembered once again why I loved their pizza! Their crust! OMG! So crunchy, crispy heavenly perfection throughout the whole slice. I usually don't eat the outside crust of the pizza, but when eating Smiling Pizza, it must be considered a sin to not to eat the crust. Their sauce is very subtle, not overwhelming at all. Just the right amount with the right ingredients! AMAZING PIZZA ALL AND ALL. Just a heads up, they have a $10 minimum for cards. But they have an atm with in the pizzeria, which the few wasn't an arm and a leg. I say it now, I'll say it again, BEST PIZZA I HAVE EVER HAD!
Very very tasty pizza and at a good price…great classic tasty nyc flavor pizza….sauce amazing and cheese too!
Had it today for the first time. Had 2 regular slices and 2 garlic knots. It was really good and I recommend it for sure.
We were walking out of Prospect Park. We saw the sign here, and we just went in. It was lucky. We ate a piece of pizza. The pizza dough was very fresh. We left there and went to a bar, but went back to Smiling Pizza. It was very late, but it was open. We ate a piece of pizza again. Then we took a Uber taxi to the hotel in Manhattan. It was a very happy night for us.
Every time my son and I are in the are we stop and get a slice of pizza. Authentic taste, great service and great prices
Everything you could want a New York pizza place to be, warm, comforting and quintessentially New York. Don’t miss out on this place, you would regret it.
Excellent Pizza 🍕! I was visiting Brooklyn to go to a concert, and a friend of mine dragged me all the way out of the way to this particular place to have a slice. It was worth every moment!! 😀
The staff is amazing, I love how they always love to share a piece of thier lives with you.... every damn slice, garlic knot pasta that I've ate from them has not went unnoticed!! You will leave out smiling 😃 best pizzeria in park slope baby

My favorite pizzeria in Brooklyn been coming here since a freshman at John Jay H.S. my oh my how the years flew by. Now when I visit I stop in say hello and grab a pie or two, can't forget the Sicilians and the garlic knots. Made home safe 3-4 hrs car ride. We love ya guys #Massachusetts 🥰🍕🧄
One of the authentic tasting pizzerias in Brooklyn. Nice and hot, the cheese pizza, a classic and very tasty. The Sicilian crust has that perfect crunch. Soft & tasty garlic knots I could not stop eating, all were delicious. Fast-paced with great customer service. The environment was old pizzeria clean and an abundance of seating.
My wife and I were coming from the hospital and were very hungry after our ultrasound appointment, we saw the pizza ship and said why not pizza sounds lovely. Much like the name of the place we left there smiling from ear to ear ! The pizza was exquisite and tasted like it was made directly from Italy 🇮🇹 🤤😋. Highly recommend!!! Will be coming back whenever in the area
Smiling makes a very good salad pizza, the bottom is crispy, and a bit pricey $5.25.
Nice little pizzeria near the hospital with many of the NY Pizza staples, including Slices, sicilians, chicken parm hero and beef patties. The service was different for every visit. Some days they are friendly some days not so much, but overall good. As I just every pizzeria by their sauce, I would say this one is pretty good, but not the best I've had. Since I am at the hospital often, this is usually my go to for pizza.
Good quick slice, open late. The counter and brick oven are manned by a couple of guys that embody what you think of as NY pizza makers. It's not a dollar slice place, you come here for a quality piece of pie with a good choice of toppings. Just tasty.
This place is super cute and retro. They take good care of it. The pizza is cheap and tasty. They've got other foods if you're feeling like having something a little different. It's worth visiting once!
Pretty dope and my cousin and I liked the pizza :)
Great place We do order from this place for a long time now. I always went here while I was growing up with family and we continue to go/ order frequently. So many places are gone and I am extremely happy that they are still around ! Not only is the food great but it also reminds me of all the memories that have been made and more to continue. I appreciate the little things and this is and always has been a great place for me and the neighborhood. May they continue to flourish in business and look forward for them to be around ! Thanks for everything. May God bless you all.
I dropped in here for a quick bite. You can order large pizzas for about 20 dollars or by the slice for $2.75. They also serve spaghetti. Pizza dough was good with a crisp base and plenty of cheese on top which I think was more of a cheddar than mozzarella. The slices were big, a very tasty. Definitely worth it for a quick snack.
I just tried their "Grandma" pizza. The sauce, mozzarella, basil has a very good taste! Nice thin crust too. Also, had the spinach roll it was tasty but a bit much olive oil :(
The pizza and chicken parm was good....
Counter person was curt, but the pizza was delicious. We had the pepperoni and white slice. The crust had a nice crisp to I. I'd go back.
Decent corner pizza place. Good, if not great, slice. The crust is a bit too thick and heavy for my liking but its served hot, cheesy, and often fills that must-have-pizza urge. Smiling Pizza is a solid and dependable neighborhood go-to with a helpful and amiable crew.
Delicious pizza and fast service. Although the staff seemed a bit rushed and annoyed from most customers, but u tradable due to a busy corner and many people waiting. Only qualm is a few homeless people were sitting inside and place reeked of urine. I believe they feed homeless for free or something, u sure. Also the prices are ridiculous. $1.75 for a CAN OF SODA!?
We did a Brooklyn Pizza taste test, and the concensus among our group gave Smiling Pizza a 9 out of 10. The Pizza was really good. We all enjoyed the sauce, and the cheese was delicious. They missed the mark on the crust -- it was just a little tough. You could only get whole pies, so we had a little wait, because they are very busy-- a good sign! Overall, we said this was a Pizza shop we would come back to. 😃
Is it the best pizza ever? No. But it’s consistent, reliable and they deliver late. Been ordering here since 2002!
Smiling Pizza used to be the best pizza in the area about 10-15 years ago. Now, not so much. Too doughey! It used to have a delicious thin crust. Oh, well, it's OK in a pinch. Also, it ain't "brick oven," it's a regular pizza oven like any other.
Ordered pizza it was good. The only thing I did not like it the server who took my order kept my change and threw it in his tip jar without me saying he could do that. Literally stole my change 😆.
We ordered delivery, 2 slices pepperoni & 2 vegetable. Food came within a reasonable time, but the order was wrong. We got 2 plain cheese & 2 veggie. The veggie slice was delicious! The cheese slice was okay, but they didn’t even send any garlic, grated Parmesan, or red pepper flakes as condiments. In spite of the few missteps I would still go to eat a slice at the restaurant as the slices were overall pretty good.
I like this place. Pizza is tasty and it's great for a quick bite before hitting the subway or walking down 7Ave in the Slope. Nice booths to relax in and have your pizza.
The pizza is so average that I wonder how they stay open? Must be it's proximity to the subway station. And maybe there aren't better places nearby? It wasn't bad. It just wasn't good.
Good food that is affordable. But the other day, one of the workers was talking about me in Spanish. I do not know Spanish but I was able to tell that I was being spoken about, by the way the workers looked at me. It seemed that the worker had mocked me.
Updating my review based on their recent price increase. $2.75 for a slice is too much in my opinion. Especially given how standard their pies are. This place used to be good for a quick bite on the way home, but I've stopped going. Call me crazy, but $2.50 is my MAX price point for a slice. MAYBE if their crust had any flavor, or if they used whole milk mozz, or if their slices were oversized they could get away with a price increase. As it stands, I think it's unjustified.
$5 for a single slice of pepperoni? Yea, i dunno about that. I could excuse it if the pepperoni was imported by a carrier pigeon direct from Italy and was the slice was bulkier in slice, but neither was true. It wasn’t anything remarkable in taste either.
It's cheap, not so great tasting pizza, but it's fast, and convenient to Prospect Park. Expect strollers, screaming kids, and a dirty bathroom. Recommend to pop in and take it to go, or eat quickly if you are already in the area from Prospect Park and need to eat in a rush. Otherwise, many other pizza spots around.
Mid pizza at best, I ordered a plain slice and it was still OK after adding a bunch of extra seasoning on it. Sauce was thin watery and cheap with absolutely no flavor reminded me of a $1 slice. Design of the place looks catered to kids. I’m sure there are better pizza places around none of their other pizza on display looked very appetizing nor were they labeled , you can tell it’s a go to because it’s been in the area for a while. Not a bad slice but not good either I could’ve took my $4 elsewhere.
First time ever I received a BaD Pizza from Smiling! We we're Celebrating some Great News and it was such a Disappointment!! The Crust was Hard and Old (not Freshly made)!! We paid $16.00 plus tip and it really just "F'd up"Our Mood!! Food is really an Important Ingredient to a Good Time! I will not Order Pizza from "Smiling" again!!
I purchased a pie to go and when I got home I discovered it was a burnt mess. My husband had his slices. I could barely swallow one. So disappointed. I have eating pizza at this pizzeria since 1978. Time to find a new local joint.
As a kid, I have always come here, it's been around for a long time. They can make good pizza. I came on a Sunday afternoon, and pizza tasted old ugh. pizza costs too much in nyc for it to taste worse than a dollar slice.
Just tried to grab a pizza from this place. The darker gentleman (i am dark also) at the register was extremely disrespectful. He was speaking to a customer when i walked in and totally ignored my presence. He kept indulging in his conversation with an older gentleman. The kind man making/ prepping the pizzas behind him, seen me waiting and asked me what i wanted. I told him i would like a slice. He told the the tall darker guy at the register to take my order cause i have been waiting. He caught an attitude and said “ you dont see me talking to someone rn about pizza? I can take the order after i am done. Im in the middle of a conversation with a regular customer. I can take orders when im done with my conversation. You shouldn't interrupt people like that”. He then proceeded to continually speak to the old man completely ignoring me. I was appalled as i never been treated in that manner. Ive eaten at over 100s of restaurants in nyc and all around the world when i travel. The level of disrespect, unprofessionalism is profound and beyond me. I had to leave, i refused to wait till his conversation was done so he can then take my order. The pizza looked pretty good, it was unfortunate. I hope he doesnt treat the wrong person like this thats a food critique or famous food blogger. He would of single handedly burried the business.
Disgusting, and not just the pizza. Went there awhile back. Used to be a decent spot. Don’t want to be that guy, but no one is wearing gloves when handling food. What I mean is this, they take money from everyone and with the same hand grab your food and throw it in the oven. Caught one adjusting his “area” on the sly and with the same hand grabbed a beef patty bare handed. Then proceed to handle cash. Not a single rinse in between . The food was great back then, now it’s subpar. The customer service is iffy at best. At least that didn’t change. There are better options in the area now. Try the others out. Smiling Pizza should rebrand their name to Frowning Pizza.
This place used to be great. Now it's just ok. Not sure if change in management, or they lost their groove, or they just don't care. Customer service was less than ideal. Since they didn't care - I don't care. The last pizza I had was rock hard. I never complain, nor am the the type to complain. Definitely not returning again. There are better alternatives everywhere.
It's pizza. It's not an Italian restaurant, it's a pizzeria. I've been going here for ages. Yesterday night, I ordered a chicken roll, a slice and beef patty - $20. Then I see the staff joking. Inflation is going on, and these fools are charging card fees. Do the math chicken roll $8.75, so a chicken slice and beef patty cost $11.25? Never again, RIP Smilling not smiling.
He gave me a cold pizza in this freezing weather. I'm never here again.
Old school place, likely under new ownership. They suck now, if they were ever good. Better places in the neighborhood. Much! Go to Joe's pizza it's right down the block from them. There has to be a saying about not ordering food from places off busy streets, they never seem to care. And it'll be this or it'll be that but 100% you will absolutely hate that you ordered food from here. I still regret it, every time I think of the experience, I just get mad all over again.
I am genuinely shocked and disappointed by the treatment I received during my visit just a moment ago. I walked in with my bike, intending to grab a quick bite, and found myself completely ignored by the three employees behind the counter. What struck me most was that every white customer in line was promptly greeted and served, while I—someone of Middle Eastern and Latino background—was overlooked entirely. I stood there, clearly visible and waiting to be acknowledged, yet not a single staff member spoke to me or made eye contact until they heard me speak and ask where I was to order. This wasn’t a matter of being busy or overwhelmed. The staff had the time and capacity to assist everyone else—it was as if I was invisible. I’m not someone who’s easy to overlook or dismiss, so the fact that I was blatantly ignored raises serious concerns about bias or discrimination. I’m still trying to understand how this could happen in a place that likely prides itself on great food, customer service and community. This kind of experience is not only disappointing but deeply alienating. I hope this message is taken seriously. No one should ever feel unwelcome or unseen because of their background.
