Last night I lost my wallet and Ryan (barback), one of employees, who was working the floor returned it to me in it's original form. I couldn't thank him enough. The Commissioner ALWAYS gives a great vibe and his honesty didn't surprise any of us last night.

This is the kind of bar you want to make into “your” neighborhood bar, even if you don’t live in the neighborhood. Cozy atmosphere that makes you feel at home, with darts, shuffle board, and a photo booth for the restless folks in your crew. The drinks and food are top notch, but the service is what really makes this place - everyone is super nice and attentive. I hosted my husband’s birthday there recently and was blown away by the warm reception we received. I asked Jon (one of the owners) to reserve some space for a casual hangout of friends. I was just expecting a few tables to be reserved, but Jon and The Commissioner team rolled out the red carpet - reserving the back part of the bar with funny signs with the hub’s nickname, a happy birthday banner, and even a balloon (something along the lines of “my husband’s bday” and the tied it around my wrist...it was pretty hilarious). Seriously, guys, this place is the best. Go there.

Fyi - the commissioner is having women's world cup watch parties for every usa match! the prices are super reasonable for drinks and food, and they are playing the matches on their outdoor tvs so you can see from their street lined patio. they even have the game sound turned on. it's such a party!

Pork Slope used to be here, and speaking to the REALLY friendly guys who own the place, they were able to keep some of the equipment, and get some culinary advice on how to use it to create a banging menu. Double smoked wings- get em. You also won't believe the prices for the neighborhood.

This is one of the places I don't want to review so I can keep it to myself but I have to share that this bar feels like home. Incredibly friendly staff, great prices and comfortable seating with a photo booth to boot!

I was sad to see Pork Slope, the former resident of this space, shutter its doors. The Commissioner, however, ably fills Pork Slope's shoes . . . and then some. Came here with some friends on a Saturday night around 7 p.m. Given the early hour, the bar was fairly lively, and the room had a nice buzz; even as things picked up over the course of the evening, the place never felt *too* full -- in part because of the smart, spacious layout, but also because of the great service. The crisp, friendly attention provided by the bartenders and the server -- I believe her name was Jenesa -- made us feel like we were at a really good house party, with two personable, on-point hosts. The cocktail list is very straightforward with a half-dozen or so classics, and subtle spins on classics, at $10 a pop (a solid deal for the neighborhood). On the night in question, I stuck to the menu, ordering a few Old Fashioneds (hefty and made with Rye, as they should be); the handsome bar was well-stocked and the bartenders seemed sharp, though, so I'd imagine that they'd be happy to whip up something a little more out there if called upon to do so. The fried pickles deserve special recognition -- they're lightly battered, crispy, and you get a *ton* of them . . . an absolute steal for $4! We did not try any of the other food, but we did carefully survey the menu. Most of the offerings appear to be traditional, well-priced bar fare -- hamburgers ($8), buffalo wings ($9), chips and guac ($5) -- but there are also a few wild cards, such as a Kale and Farro salad with avocado vinaigrette ($8). We'll be back soon!

The Commissioner makes the neighborhood better. Brendan is the nicest guy. The vibes are lovely. Solid for sports. The music on open streets days is great. Park Slope is better because this exists.

Couldn’t ask for a better neighborhood bar. Friendly bartenders, decent bar food, and interesting patrons. We were in town dog-sitting and found our way to this comfortable spot. Glad we did!

Super friendly casual bar. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was really great. Nice to talk to, and suggested some good beer. The owner stopped over to say hi, and when he found out it was a birthday, he put some fancy decorations on my friends drink. We had a great time. You can also get pub food (burgers, wings, tots, etc...)

I've been to this bar a few times and it never disappoints! The food is good and they have dart boards in the back. The bartenders are always nice and they have a good selection of drinks.

We needed a retreat to kill time before a flight and this fit the bill perfectly. The staff was friendly and the drinks were well priced. We enjoyed throwing darts and having a place to relax and charge our phones. Thanks!

Favorite local bar! Good variety of beer, nice top shelf liquor, and the owners and bartenders are amazing. Have hosted multiple parties here and they are so communicative and helpful leading up to events and make it the best day of party!

Was there for the first time the other night. The bar staff was very friendly, and very quick getting us drinks. The place has a great vibe to it. I wish I lived closer so I could go back more often. Any place that offers shots of Tullemore Dew at 730pm is a place to remember....or forget....whatever. It's good, that's all that matters.

Awesome bar all around. Staff is really friendly and fun things to do. We went on wed with trivia night which was fun. We sat at the bar and had Scott. He was great. Had a sandwich and a burger which was pretty good as well. All around would recommend if in the area when looking for a chill place for fun, food, and drinks.

Good service, good cocktails, good draft beer selection, nice vibe, darts and shuffleboard, $1 off most drinks at happy hour. Honestly though, the fried pickles were too thin and salty for my taste... I've had lots of ~1/4" thick ones with better pickle crunch, flavor, and less salty batter.

Its a good place to spend any evening. It has a good choice of bees and drinks. Beer doesnt taste like it was watered down, like in some places in the area. Dart and mini shuffleboard are a plus. Bartenders are welcoming and nice. Overall its a good bar.

It’s a great bar that’s becoming a local gem. The owners and bartenders are great. They are always so friendly and accommodating. Highly suggest a special occasion if you want it at a bar they give specials and have enough table seating or bar area to allow for tons of stuff. The bucket specials are the way to go.

Had the pork tacos. Surprisingly fantastic. Knew they would be good but not that good! Tried my friend's hot chicken sandwich. OMG. Amazing. Not to mention shuffleboard. Great beers. Great cocktails. Great service.

Can you ask for a better neighborhood bar? Prices are good, food is solid and the service is the best. The owners Brendan, John and Kevin are there every day making sure you feel welcome and taken care of. Ask them the backstory of the bar, and don't forget to take a shot for the road.

Brendan is an energetic and enthusiastic owner. This was a great find for a Brooklyn visitor. It felt like a local place where everybody knows you, but is exciting to meet you. The "tots" are the best.

I lost my virginity at The Commissioner. It's that special. Bring a date, steal a table - or sit at the bar! - and make memories. Besides picklebacks or a shot and beer combo, you can't go wrong with their namesake cocktail. It packs a boozy punch. Friendly service. Credit accepted. There's outdoor seating, I think.

I can't say enough great things about The Commissioner. Every time I introduce the bar to a friend, they feel the same. The bartenders/owners greet you as you come in, and make an effort to make sure you're taken care of which is rare. It's a non-pretentious bar with great food prices, selection of drafts, tons of screens for the game. Recently asked to hold a birthday party there and they were amazing. Set up an area in the back, put up signs and made an effort to make sure everyone had a great time. Quickly became my fave neighborhood spot.

I reserved the dart board area for a 30th birthday party. It was a wonderful experience and the staff was so accommodating— they even made a personalized birthday banner. We ordered finger foods that were delicious and high quality. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun venue with lots of character!

Been coming here for some years now, makes me feel like I'm in the city vibes. They got a disco ball, DJ on the weekends, photo booth which you can stick your photo on the wall which is a dope memory and darts. The drinks are good the staff is amazing like one thing I love about a bar is the staff. They always treat me with love so I'll always come back. I suggest Saturday nights, but wed, Thurs and Fridays are fun also. Haven't been there Mon or tuesdays..... yet !

My husband and I celebrated our wedding after party at The Commissioner and we were SO happy we did! They were so welcoming and accommodating: they let us reserve the space in the back for no extra cost, allowed us to get pizza delivered, and even decorated the space to welcome us. We came here today for the first time and I just can say it’s an amazing bar with fresh draft beer! Buffalo chicken wings was soooo delicious! Blue cheese and celery was sooooo fresh! Made a reservation for my birthday, we had a whole section to ourselves and we did not have to pay to hold it. Cheap, strong drinks and food was good. Waiters/bartenders were all very nice! Music was a bit loud though...will definitely come back!

I’ve been to The Commissioner a few times for a pint but today I had the food. Holy smokes, I had no clue! I met the incredibly nice owner and he suggested Tenders with Ranch and Nasheville Hot dipping sauce and a side of tots. First of all, if the owner recommends something, just do it. The food was out super quick and cooked perfectly. Tots are easy to screw up, these were crispy on the outside and tiny potato clouds on the inside. I can’t even describe how good the chicken tenders were, how??? Just perfect. The other staff was also helpful and friendly and I’d go there everyday if I could. If you’re in Park Slope go to The Commissioner. If you’re not in Park Slope… go.

What can I say except you will love this little bar. The staff and owner become your friends and have you talking and laughing for hours. It's friendly and family feeling is just what you need after a long day. The drinks are great and not expensive at all. Happy hour is dangerous but worth the risk 😂 especially as the prices are good.

Manhattan has lots of sports bars, and most feel about the same. The Commissioner has a laid back atmosphere and there are enough TV’s to watch the games. Great food, especially the special cheese sauce!

I liked the place. Very attentive bartenders , decent pub food and interesting selection of beers. I was there during lunchtime when the bar was not crowded and I was surprised how fast the beer arrive after your order.

Always crowded and has enough tv’s to catch the game but food is very sub par and service, while quick, isn’t very friendly or accommodating. Wanted to like it more, but their burgers are terrible.

Staff super friendly. Loved the vibe and look of the bar. Music/DJ so loud it hurt. (Omg. Does that make me old?) Had to leave after one drink just purely because the brand new speakers were pumpin'. Old fashioned was so sweet. Boo. I want to taste the fire.

Probably great for some happy hour drinks—good drinks, decent food, good bartenders. But to reserve the place for a party, I wouldn’t recommend for dancers—they need a way better sound system (speakers crack—it wasn’t even loud), and way better DJ. This is a decent dive bar and should prob stay as such.

Commissioner really needs to socially distance. We’re in the middle of a deadly pandemic. When the streets are closed off, as 5th Ave frequently is on busy weekends, there is no excuse to not SPREAD THE CROWD APART. I walked past today to stop by but immediately left. IMMEDIATE ABOUT FACE. There must have been 70-80 people shoulder to shoulder - I mean ZERO distance between them. Get it together guys - this isn’t a joke and half of the neighborhood is purposefully ignoring your location because of this. SPREAD APART.

went in for a local hang to find UNDERAGE girls being served drinks and shots by 30-year-old+ men. kids will be kids but the establishment should have better awareness and standards when it comes to underage girls/female identifying persons in their space and when those peoples’ safety are potentially at risk

I asked the bartender whether it was the same cost, cash or credit. I was told that it was the same. At the end of our visit, I was presented with just the total to pay, I asked to see what I was paying for. After some effort, the bartender showed me the items that we consumed for the bill. After paying and getting the bill I see an undisclosed 3.25% service (svc) charge. Not cool.
