The waitress was very informative in explaining the menu to our table that included people who had never been there. The portion sizes were good for the price. The owner came to our table and asked how the food was. Leave room for desert...it was delicious, all of the desserts look "hand-crafted", cute, and photo-worthy. Definitely recommend for people who don't have a lot of experience with ordering Mexican and want to try something new and authentic.

AMAZING!! This was my first time here and it was the best Mexican food I’ve had in awhile. Easily one of the MUST-EAT restaurants in The City of Buffalo. I came with my fiance for our first time and we had such a great time I actually had to come write an amazing review. Our Server was so kind and went out of her way to adjust the mixed up orders, very small things like a side of beans instead of rice but little things matter! The food was DELICIOUS AND HOT and the pitcher of strawberry margaritas was PERFECT! WE'LL BE BACK VERY SOON!!! 🙏👑🙏

The food was delicious and enough for at least 2 meals. The staff was friendly and capable. My husband had the taco bar and was very happy with his choice. He loved the chipotle sauce and wishes he put it on all 3 tacos.

My friend and I stopped in for lunch on May 19th 2018 for lunch. The restaurant was just opening and we were the only ones there, which made for a nice quiet atmosphere and a friendly rapport with our server (her name escapes me at the moment, sorry!). She brought us chips and the homemade salsa while we waited. The chips were light and crisp and seemed homemade. The salsa was less chunky than I'm used to, but full-bodied with flavor. A great warm-up to my main course of a Mexican Pizza Quesadilla. The tortillas contained four melted cheeses and chicken along with tomatoes, onions, and salsa, which was a fantastic combination of flavors. The grilled tortillas also had a nice crunch to them. This was a lovely lunch.

Very good food and super friendly staff! So happy to be able to take my celiac child to a Mexican restaurant as he loves Mexican food. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food and commented how wonderful the staff here was. We will definitely be returning!

Our bartender was so friendly and knew what he was doing, my boyfriend was pondering on what he should get and when somebody says came over and showed him what you would like because of what we were talking about and she heard anything. We called about catering the they were quick to assist. Easy to place the order and have it delivered on a set time. The food was excellent and we still have leftovers a week later. The taco bar with two meats was great, plenty of extras for toppings, the chorizo was excellent and ground beef was great. The rice and beans are tasty sides. I would order again. Tons of chips and salsa came with the Game Time Munch Time Bundle and the chicken chimichangangas were great. They went fast.

Gramma Mora’s is my favorite place to eat! The service is incredible! Lorraine always goes above and beyond to make sure that you feel like a valued customer. You always leave feeling full and satisfied. The servers here even make sure to accommodate the pickiest of eaters like my step mom.

I have been going to GM'S since 1981 when it was on Niagara St. It is my favorite restaurant of all time!!! I could eat every meal at GM's. I especially love the enchiladas, the green sauce is so GOOD!!!

Nights a Gramma Mora’s just hit different. The bar is always stocked up with great variety and the bartenders are friendly and responsive. I didn’t grow up going to Gramma Mora’s, and I’m not even from the Buffalo area, but I find great comfort and nostalgia visiting this restaurant. Maybe it’s the homemade Mexican cuisine, or just the friendly, accommodating staff. Whatever the reason might be, I always leave happier than when I arrive. Good times are always had, and great memories are always made, at Gramma Mora’s.

Gramma moras is truly a treat! We come monthly and the food is always consistently fantastic! The service is wonderful! Even with high economical costs, the food is priced perfectly! Not too expensive. Highly recommend for a family or great night out. And don’t forget to ask for Lorraine or Lydia… the best servers around. Don’t forget to check the website for special events and live music. Those nights are truly a treat. We will continue to come again and again for years to come!

First time here and it did not disappoint! I got Gramma Moras special with pork and it was delicious. The portions are huge and you get really good chips and salsa to start with. The service was outstanding, our server was really attentive and got us refills without us asking. I will be a regular here!

Great low-key atmosphere for a Friday night. Went in for margaritas with 4 of my friends and was able to get a pitcher on the cheap. My group doesn't fit the normal clientele, but the bartender was super friendly and welcoming. Had a great conversation with him and he gave good recommendations for stuff to do around town.

My husband and I went to Gramma Mora's last Sunday evening, we haven't been there in a few years due to COVID, etc., but we've always loved their food. That evening they were very understaffed, but we didn't mind because we were not in a rush and on no schedule. The owner, Liz, kept coming over to apologize and let us know where our food was in the queue, and we let her know we were fine. In the meantime, a rude couple behind us who had eaten their entire meal, complained to the waitress and Liz went over to them and was much nicer than I would have ever been and gave them a huge discount. It takes a great person to be able to deal with people like that and she did an excellent job. When our food did arrive, we started eating it and realized it was close to what we had ordered, but not our exact order. When Liz came over to see how our meals were, we quietly told her it was delicious, but it wasn't what we had originally ordered, but that it was fine and thank you. Ten minutes later she came over with our real order and told us 'these are your original orders, they are on the house and take them home with you'!! We couldn't believe how generous that was of her, we offered to pay for both of them or at least one and she was insistent that she wanted us to have them for being so patient and kind. We left a large tip for her and walked out of there with great respect for this woman and this restaurant. On a day where she was truly exhausted and had to deal with some really rude people, she treated us better than we have ever been treated in most restaurants. If we could give this restaurant 10 stars, we would. Great job Gramma Mora's!!!

This place is a Buffalo institution and with good reason! I frequented Gamma Mora's many years ago and just recently had an opportunity to come back. It's just as good as I remember it all these years later. Same great, classic recipes and wonderful service. Anywhere that's been this consistent for decades deserves praise!

I love the queso chorizo burrito dinner with double sopa. And the margarita wasn't too bad as well... Sandy (our waitress) was so sweet and kind to us but I watched her and she was that way with everyone. Will continue to order and eat here .

The waitress we had today was none other than Lydia. On the very day of her birth, aka her birthday she provided me and my family the best customer service of her life. The restaurant was packed and she was calm, cool, and collected. Also, we noticed the other waitress Lorraine providing good service as well. All of the staff was super attentive! The food was indeed tasty, compliments to the chef. The service was out of this world that we call earth.

Great food, hands on owners been going there for over 35+ years. Everything is home made and if I have any questions there is always been someone to assist me in my ordering. I've tried many things on their recommendations. I've never been dissatisfied. If I were I know it would be taken care of. The drinks are awesome. The atmosphere is perfect. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is fantastic. So if your not sure what to have just ask. The owners will take care. This is a true authentic Mexican restaurant. A local family business. I often stop in for a happy hour drink with friends and enjoy the Mexican pizza. My favorite is the large steak burrito with sides sopa and rice or beans. It's just a great restaurant all around. Nice weather I enjoy the patio quite often!!

The barmaid is worth the visit. The food was excellent but a little pricey. We only visit occasionally. The dinner I had was great, but $23 a plate for Mexican is a lot. $40 after one beer and a tip.

We came into Grandma Moras this evening. Let me just say the service was outstanding!! The waitress Lydia came over and checked on us numerous times to make sure that our food was good and to ask us if we needed anything. She has a GREAT personality!!! The food was really good!!! We are off the lunch for dinner menu as we don't eat much. He had the fried oysters and I had thd chicken salad sandwich. Both were very good. Highly recommend. A lot of seafood on their menu. The water scenery was fabulous! After we got there, there was a bit of a wait so go a bit early.

After moving to Buffalo from Las Vegas 4 years ago, I have searched for a restaurant with authentic Mexican food like we were used to eating on the West Coast. Tonight I searched for restaurants near me, and saw Gramma Moras. I looked at some pictures that fondly reminded me of the food I ate so often in Vegas made by families who were new to the states. My son and I came in to find a cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately we didn't come on a night with live music (from the schedule it looks like normally on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays are the nights to come for a variety of bands). Mary, our server immediately greeted us with a smil3 and brought us ice water, chips and a deliciously sweet and tangy salsa. I ordered the Arooz de Cameron and my son ordered the Aztec burrito. Both were definitely a great choice! Fresh ingredients, made with expertise and love, and a feeling of a local-known restaurant and bar like the show "Cheers" was in the air. Staff greeted many customers by name and happiness and laughter was present throughout our visit. Their story is amazing. They were one of the first authentic Mexican restaurants in Buffalo over 100 years ago! I took a picture of it if you would like to read more. Definitely a great place for great Mexican food and a positive, fun and familiar vibe!

I actually kinda felt that something at Gramma Mora's went downhill probably 10 years ago. We hadn't gone back much since then. But I must say that we just went there for the 3rd time this year and they seem to be back. The food was delicious and good portions and the service was great. Add the chips and salsa and it's a great meal. I also enjoyed the atmosphere which was lively but not too loud that we couldn't have a conversation.

We dined here for dinner on a week night. The weather was beautiful, so we sat outside. The service was great and food was delicious! We usually do not frequent Mexican Restaurants as I do not usually like anything other than quesadillas. I ventured and ordered the Chimichanga dinner and it was wonderful! I cannot wait to go back! I have recommended this restaurant to so many people in the last week as well! My husband has a dairy allergy and they we so understanding and took care of everything for him!

I’ve been going here since I was a kid. As any Mexican style restaurant, they’ll start you out with chips and salsa. They have a really unique and delicious dish called “Sopa” the best way to explain it is almost like a Mexican spaghetti, very mild in flavor but I absolutely amazing. 😋It’s such a nice atmosphere at Gramma Moras , being on Hertel in the summer time, and sitting on the patio is a vibe. Had been really dying to get to this place and glad I was able to finally have the time. I really enjoyed the atmosphere the service was nice and fast. The food was better than what I expected. If you are looking for a fulfilling Mexican meal this is definitely the place to go.

The food was delicious but a bit slow in arriving. My server was pleasant and attentive. The live Donna Rose band was awesome and had the place hopping!

Pretty alright. Too many parties for my taste at the bar, but good food, fair price. Really nice if you're there before the bar rush at night. Owners are great people, most staff is pretty great, save one or three. The sopa is to die for.

The food was just OK - nothing special. I've been to this restaurant from way back when it was located on Niagara St, before the fire that destroyed their business. Back then the food was incredibly fresh and authentic. These days the food isn't differentiated in any way.

I hadn't been here in probably 20 years. I was hoping that it would've changed in those 20 years, but the food, the everything....was mediocre at best. Halfway through the meal, I asked my eating partner if we were ever coming back here and they said nope! The waitress was trying her best, but it seemed like she had just started a few days ago. But she hadn't. They don't have hot sauce and only have a side of mixed hot peppers or something. I just wanted a few sprinkles of cholula or something, but they didn't have that. I thought that was a staple in all mexican restaurants. None of their margaritas were house made. All out of a can, and I didn't want a sugar filled beverage with fake lime, so I opted for some bourbon instead. The fajitas looked totally unfinished, like it was forgotten, random uncooked veges thrown in. I wanted this place to be better but it wasn't. Maybe I'll try it again in 20 years if they're still around.

Unfortunately didn't have the best experience here. Took about 20 minutes for a server to come over to us at all and our plan was to take advantage of their happy hour special which we saw on their website. They were very confused when I asked about it and I had to show them what I was talking about which they did end up "approving" hesitantly. Since everything took so long, we didn't bother ordering the appetizer we were going to get but the food that we did order was very good. The 3 stars is just for the poor service we received, food was definitely tasty.

Alright server. The wait is long even when quiet; a long wait to be sat, a long wait for waters, a long wait for food, a long wait for boxes, and a long wait for your check. I was so close to just walking to another restaurant after waiting for the waters to come to our table. She also brought chips which was really nice, that was the best part of the meal. We ate outside so I can understand the long walk from kitchen to door. The salsa is very runny with no chunks of veggies at all but it’s tasty. I ordered the flautas and on the menu it stated shredded chicken inside a fried tortilla. The chicken was in 2 big chunks so it was like big grilled tenders in tortilla, the cheese on top reminded me of glue and there was a lot. The rice was wet & squishy and I wasn’t a fan of the sopa. We asked for a box & the wait was so long then she came to the table and didn’t bring the bring the box so she left and then brought me one. She was really nice though and brought me hot sauce & also a green sauce which was really good. Overall the food was bland and flavorless, would never return here. I wanted to like it so bad but it didn’t work out too good for me. I don’t believe this place is authentic but I can’t see in the kitchen so who really knows.

Service was absolutely excellent, atmosphere was clean and inviting, the food itself was just alright. Not great, definitely not bad, just nothing wow about it. Very middle of the road for me. I am also rather picky about Mexican food because I'm from the Southwest, but it's definitely not bad at all. I'd I had a friend who didn't love Mexican food or picky kids, this would be a good pick because it's very mild on flavoring.

We ate on the patio there was a private function at the bar however the brush off manners and interaction from the owner almost made us leave. The use of signage and a warm greeter would of been worth his weight in gold. I will say our waitress was sweet and helpful. The food isn't as good as it was a few years ago but pretty okay.

The food was "ok" it could have been more authentic, i had the chicken chimichangas and I think the chicken was boiled, not fried, and for what you get the prices are kind of high. So 3 stars from me, mainly for the service!!

Unfortunately we did not have a great experience on almost every level and will not be back. This was my second time here. First time was great. Second time, not so great. It took a while to sit because the hostess/waitress was chitchatting with the bartender. We are finally seated and it takes 1/2 hour to get drinks and chips. When we asked another waitress when we were going to be served, she responded rudely that our waitress is coming. My drink (wine) took longer because there were lipstick stains on my first wine glass and they had to get me another one. In the time of COVID, this is unnerving. They should be making EXTRA steps to ensure dishes are clean. The more I think of it, the more I feel the health department should look into their operations, just keep reading and you may agree. My friend orders chicken nachos which comes with a sauce on top. When the order comes, no sauce because “they are tired in the back and don’t want to make it right now.” What?! I then ordered a second wine. Guess what? Lipstick stains ALL OVER THE GLASS. Again. I sent it back and said, at this point I don’t want another glass. Food was subpar. The waitress tried and was friendly, but dirty dishes during a pandemic and poor quality and service made for an awful experience.

Very underwhelming experience considering I heard so many good things about the place. Our waitress was excellent, but our food wasn't. My friend and I both ordered the Burrito Pollo( I believe that is what it was called), and the entire entree was lukewarm at best, and very dry. The cheese wasn't even melted in my friend's burrito. It was still solid! We were dissapointed, but we may give it another shot at some point. I'll have to order something other than the Burritos.

I was excited to eat here after always hearing good things. The drinks were weak, the food was bland and I am pretty sure they used canned chicken for the food we received because it tasted like it was a few days old. Service was good. The food was okay and there are just so many better options for the same price and you'll find quality food elsewhere. Felt like there was no pride in this food and could make the same stuff at home or even better. Could explain why it was empty on a Friday night.

The food tastes great as always, however I do not recommending ordering through a delivery service. For $19 (menu price not including fees, delivery and tip) I ordered the Chimichanga dinner which is described as served over a bed of lettuce and tomatoes. I had maybe 5 shreds of lettuce and 5 small pieces of tomato. The delivery order does not come with chips and salsa like you would get in the restaurant. Not a good value for your money. I would recommending eating in or ordering for somewhere else. We were so disappointed.

The place looks nice, and the staff is nice enough. The food was pretty bad though. The meat had no seasoning and tasted microwaved, the salsa was just salted tomatoes, the guacamole was just mashed avocados. Not tasty much less authentic.

Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, the service was slow and the charges were shady. I agree with the previous reviewer that the salsa was terrible and almost tasted like marinara sauce. I have gone there twice and both times they have "messed up" my order. (They will bring you the dinner portion to charge you more when you ordered lunch so be careful.) Also they write down all checks on paper and punch it all in and calculate the tax with a calculator. Both times the woman who had calculated our tax told us we owed over $8 in tax! She did not know what she was doing. The second time we ate there I sat down and walked her through how to the calculate tax (we owed like $2, not $8). I understand it's a family owned operation there's a difference between laid-back family atmosphere and plain unprofessional.

So I order a fajita chicken mexican pizza with no onions. I received a chicken cheese dry idk what to call this thing with no peppers and three total pieces of chicken. I saw and read great things and I am actually very disappointed. I dont suggest ordering here.

If you're looking for "authentic Mexican cuisine" as this place self-proclaims to be, this isn't it. Some of the most Americanized versions of Mexican dishes I've ever seen. For example the top taco option is a hard shell with ground beef and shredded cheese. Tried not to let that be a dealbreaker as I was already seated, but it came out like something I could whip up at home with little experience rather than a thoughtfully crafted restaurant dish. On top of that, took 40 minutes for 3 tacos, an enchilada and it didn't appear to be understaffed or particularly busy. 15 minutes just for 2 beers.

Wasn't really feeling it, Had a little bit higher hopes for this place and for the price you pay the food was really just not that great. I think the 3.something overall rating it has on Google is generous at best. Seems like people are more there just to have drinks at the bar versus there to get food. Wouldn't really go out of my way to come here again.

Dive Mexican place. Super slow service. Overly salty tortilla chips. Bland beans and rice. Spicy pork was good. The sopa thing was absolutely disgusting, it tastes like canned spaghetti-oes, only worse. Dingy atmosphere. Melted bucket of water by the front door. Stay away.

When I told a few friends about my dismal experience with Grandma Mora's this weekend they all said the same thing. Not what it used to be. On Saturday night we were looking for takeout. Wanting to support local business we decided on having Mexican food and went to Google to search for local restaurants. Grandma Moras was reported to be open till 11:00 p.m. now we're two months into the Kobe crisis plenty of time to get the website right but no luck I call that 8:45 only to find out that they closed at 8:00 with the promise they would update. Sunday ordered i three dishes chicken avocado taco salad, chili, and a combination of steak and shrimp fajitas for $17. I got to the curbside picked up all the food and even left the tip. I only live 3 minutes away and was disappointed to find that the chili was cold and my steak and shrimp fajitas was just dried out chicken with no steak and no shrimp. Interestingly there's a little sticker saying sealed for quality. Wrong no quality another customer lost

Mediocre Food, Terrible Service - Not Coming Back I am a North Buffalo local that lives a short walk from Gramma Mora's and have been to this restaurant three times, but there won't be a 4th visit. The first two visits were for dinner and a margarita crawl, with the food being mediocre and slightly overpriced. I would only suggest ordering a margarita if you truly enjoy loads of syrup and sour mix. My most recent visit was last Thursday, when I walked into the restaurant at 7pm sharp with my father and son. Google says Mora's is open until 9pm. There were two tables currently seated and one waitress that we could see, who was chatting with some patrons. After five minutes or so at the Please Wait To Be Seated sign, the bartender - who noticed us when we walked in - finally came over, grabbed some menus and sat us. The waitress was still speaking to her one remaining table (the others left) and we sat only two tables down without greeting, drinks, or any acknowledgement for 10-15 minutes before we stood up and walked out. If it's a slow night and the kitchen's closing early, it's understandable to simply notify any patrons who walk in the door that you're closing for the night. Being completely ignored for nearly 15 minutes by a waitress chatting away with another table is unacceptable. Also, the bartender disappeared after seating us and yet another patron walked in and up to the bar during our wait, before leaving after a few minutes. Never coming back.

I was a regular as a child at the old location on Niagara. I played hockey with the Giovino's kids. Let me preface this review by saying I have never written one, good or bad, for any place I've ever eaten at. We came here on Father's Day after La Divina was closed earlier than their hours were listed on Google. We waited at least 5 minutes to be sat. I then stood at the bar for another 5, still with no service. After we were finally sat, we got taco sauce passed off as salsa and then waited for another 5-10 minutes after ordering our drinks, which never came. We finally just got up and left. It wasn't busy...there were maybe 8 total tables sat. Needless to say, don't know if I'll ever be back, despite your Mexican pizza being a highlight of my youth.

Not “authentic” at all. The rice was clearly minute rice. The refried beans were watery, canned, and had this weird sweet after taste. My partner ordered a chimichanga, it’s supposed to be fried. The tortilla came out bland, soft, and whiter than me!! There’s no horchata.. at an “authentic” Mexican restaurant!? And then the steak in his meal was some weird mystery meat, very chewy, soggy and distasteful. Our “red salsa” was literally marinara sauce.. nothing but bad bad bad. I don’t believe in wasting food, but I couldn’t even finish it. I also never care to leave a bad review as I just like to keep it pushing, but this… this has been the most veil tasting food I’ve ever had in my life. At least the workers were really nice.

Very un-authentic, the food lack seasoning and it tastes like canned beans. Out of all the Mexican restaurants in the Buffalo area this was the worst one.

We went for late lunch. Place was empty when we arrived and it took about 5 min for someone to even come out and great us and then another 15 before we were even brought water and asked what we'd like to drink. Food was pretty blah and Luke warm when we it arrived

Your food could be the best in the world but if you can't get your act together to get your posted hours on Google to be accurate then you're losing me as a customer. After I spend 20 minutes agonizing with my girlfriend where we're going to eat today and we finally pick a place because it's open and then drive 20 minutes to get there only to find out that their hours are wrong, we're not interested in coming back.

Completely butchered my order and charged me extra for no reason. Asked for a garden burrito from the menu and reinstated the items on the menu, and was instead charged $24 instead of $14. Also asked for the guacamole to be inside like it says on the menu and was instead given on the side. Also informed them I had a dairy allergy several times and they still included cheese in my food. I also ordered a cheese quesadilla with chicken and was instead charged for a mexican pizza and was given ingredients I don’t want or eat. Want a refund and will never order here again.

Came out for brothers engagement that was amazing to celebrate.Took 45 minutes to get our beer. Took 2 hours for our first plate of food and 3 to get everyone's food after all of the mistakes. Also requested a gluten free meal didn't get it, was served gluten and told that it wasn't! Service was slow and not competent. Blamed a waitress quiting. Pretty sure they just use tomato sauce from in a can for everything. Flavor wasn't anything to brag about. Not a good first impression. Don't think we will ever come back!
