Alana's is a breakfast spot we learned about many years ago when we moved to Burlingame and really enjoyed the food. Good coffee and coffee cake. All of us loved the home fries, and we've kinda replicated them at home. They're amazing just on their own. It can get crowded in the mid morning as it's not a big space. We were lucky and got ahead of the crowds and our young kids liked sitting at the bar counter and watching them cook all the food. The odd thing we discovered on our last visit is they don't have bacon on the menu - our daughter wanted some but she was perfectly fine with their eggs n sausages.
Looking for a breakfast place close to our hotel near SFO and luckily found Alana's in Burlingame. Although all tables were full we only waited 10-15 minutes. Looking over the menu was a delight because of all the yummy choices. We chose the Sonoma and Avocado Toast and they we better than great. Fresh baked scone was a choice with the the Sonoma and had to take it with me because the eggs and potatoes were enough to fill me up. The coffee was outstanding because the have the blend of beans made especially for them. Wait staff was super even with a full house.
Fantastic food - yummy oatmeal pancakes, seafood salad, scramble, and quiche. Guadalupe was a fantastic server and kept us laughing as she took care of us. Would definitely come back here if in the area!
Great place! We arrived right when they opened and sat at the counter. Service was friendly and attentive; the food was really tasty and plentiful. My scramble was cooked to perfection. Great value; I'll definitely return.
Alana's is a classic spot for locals and visitors to the area! Amazing and friendly service, delicious oatmeal pancakes (everything on the menu is delicious) and yummy drinks! Make sure to ask for the salsa, goes great with the eggs and potatoes! Highly recommend!
Aw Love this Place! Been coming here for over 10 years+ the family that owns this spot is so Friendly and Kind. Its a special place and the food is GREAT. Oatmeal Pancakes YUM! My go to is the Jalisco Omelet. OMFG love it. I hardly switch it up because its that good! Top Breaky spots in Burlingame especially with the departing of Nini's. :(
This restaurant is cozy with really great service. The food is tasty and standard American brunch. Bottomless coffee. There’s often a line if you go during time time, but you shouldn’t have to wait more than 15 minutes
Always great breakfast. Pleasant attentive staff (particularly Lupe!). Breakfast tasty, cooked to perfection. Great for people watching.
The Mediterranean scramble was delicious. We came for brunch on a Sat morning and were able to get a table for two in 15 minutes. I was already familiar with the original Alana's Cafe in Redwood City before coming here; I'd always get the oatmeal pancakes. Super yummy and this place serves the same quality of food. The oatmeal pancakes can be quite filling so order the short stack (2 pancakes instead of 3) if you're not too hungry. For drinks, I appreciated that they had decaf options for the tea. I had the English Breakfast tea and they serve it as loose-leaf, steeping in a tea ball inside the mug. It's up to you how long to steep the tea for. I steeped mine for 4 mins and it was fine. It tasted very good for a decaf tea. I like to have my tea with milk and sugar. I'm particular about the balance of milk, sugar, and tea intensity. So I was a bit dismayed when one of the servers came and poured some more hot water into my mug without asking me first. I know he was taking initiative and trying to be helpful but if I had realized what was happening I would have asked him not to do that. I had to put the tea ball back inside to recover the balance that I wanted in my tea.
Traveling. Just ate breakfast there with my family. Great service and we got a nice outside table. Appetizing plates of delicious food. We all enjoyed it! Thank you!!
When I'm eating at Alana's cafe, I want to cry with job. So hooked on the quiche, can't order anything else. My husband loves the pecan pancakes. And, the staff---they are so welcoming and warm...they remembered our name after the first visit, and we've been there so many times afterward that we've lost count. It's a feeling of home, family and good good good cookin'...pleases the soul!
Everything's fresh and delicious. I believe the owner hosted us and the way she presented each dish you could tell she puts her heart and soul into her cafe and every dish on the menu. There were 7 of us who all ordered something different and not a single complaint to be made about anything. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!
Alana's for Sunday brunch! My wife and I shared a Florentine scramble (sausage, spinach, and provolone, with home fries) and their famous oatmeal pancakes. I was so full, but it was all so delicious I couldn't stop eating! They also serve a rich homemade chili sauce that went really well with the eggs....you can take some home for $5.
After a long day of travel to SFO yesterday we were looking for a good breakfast place this morning. This place looks so busy I was afraid it would take a long time to get our food. It only took 10 minutes or less! And it was delicious. We had the Sonoma and Mediterranean scrambles. And we got to sit at the inside bar and watch the cooks as they did their magic!
Honestly the best breakfast potatoes I have ever had. Quick and attentive service.
Quick, friendly service. Delicious pancakes and some of the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had. Plenty of outdoor seating; inexpensive city-run parking lot is also very close.
Probably my favorite breakfast restaurant on the Peninsula. This was our 3rd or 4th visit. Food is consistently good, well prepared and flavorful. The Swedish pancakes are unlike anything by that name I have encountered: made with steel-cut oats which gives a nice texture, they seem to have a sourdough element as well and with the lingonberry sauce are not too sweet. Last time my wife had the Florentine scramble and a peach scone. Breakfast places often overcook eggs but not here, they were perfect. One has to walk through the kitchen to get to the restrooms, giving me an opportunity to vouch for the scones being house-made. The drip coffee is better than is served in many chain coffeehouses. There is usually a wait for a table, but this last time the actual wait was maybe half what they said to expect. Service is friendly and competent and pretty attentive for a bustling restaurant. The Burlingame location is quite cozy, whereas their Redwood City location is more spread out with more outdoor seating. I have eaten at and recommend both locations.
I love this cozy little place. The food is great, I usually have their chicken salad sandwich on focaccia bread, delicious every time. This last time, I sat the counter and loved watching the chefs do their thing, another reason to come here, they are making your food right in front of you. Be prepared to wait though, it is so small, usually very crowded even to pay and of course seating is limited but outside dining is always an option.
Lovely selection of homemade concoctions that will delight both your spirit and your mind. When they offer you samples of their daily fare - Take Them, they are much better then you would think. Coffee good to. The workers delightful as well as helpful and efficiently . Go, you will enjoy the experience, as well as the food.
Great place, been stopping in here every so often over the years. The only thing that rivals their great food is the staff and their friendly service. Keep up the good work!
Haven’t been back to Alana’s since COVID and it’s just as delicious as I remember! Service and food was perfect and I love that they’re dog friendly on the patio too! Used to love going to Alana’s in Redwood City with friends and family, I was sad when they closed that location. First time at the Burlingame location, and while it’s smaller than the Redwood City one was, the food and service was just as good.
We had a leisurely brunch. I had egg benedict with smoked salmon and spinach. My husband had french toast with berries. He thought it was too much when it was served, but he finished every bite. Our friends had pancakes with lingonberry topping and pancakes with a poached egg. Everything was delicious. Coffee was good.
A friend brought me here for brunch and it has become my favorite in the Peninsula. I had tried their oatmeal pancake which was delicious. I ordered the shorter stack as they are quite filling as you can imagine. Their homemade scones were delicious and they have different flavor each time I go in. Always craving for more!
I have been coming here forever, the food is great, the staff is freindly and most of the ingredients are locally sourced. Come on a weekday if you can, they have a lot more choice on the menu, and there is much less of a wait. I specifically recommend the Martha's famous swedish oatmeal pancakes.
Great breakfast. super friendly staff. good fast breakfast. and that salsa 😍. Years later, still great and delicious. The salsa got even better. And those oat pancakes 🥞😋 and Company's coming are the Go To!
This cafe fits right into Burlingames downtown area. The service is fast and friendly and the servings are plentiful and tasty. I am looking forward to returning and sampling some more of the menu!
Excellent food. Like really good. Service was great as well. I ordered the Mediterranean scramble, French toast, apple sausage, and additional order of potatoes. All cooked to perfection. Almost didn’t come here because another place had more variety in offering. So glad I didn’t. The quality here was worth not taking the chance on an expanded menu.
This was a wonderful breakfast experience. We ate outside in the sunshine and our server was so pleasant and fun. The food was delicious (I had the pecan pancakes) and the portions are generous. I felt like I was having breakfast at my friend's house!!
Best place to have brunch. I love Alana's. Food and service are always great. There's a wait in weekends so get there early or grab a coffee while you wait for a seat. Great spot to walk around after or before your meal.
If you want good energy come here. Food wise probably the potatoes are what stands out. Also the baked apples are hidden wholesome gem. I wouldn’t say coffee is awesome but is decent. Outside of that you can go to a lot of breakfast places but if you want feed your soul come to Alana’s
It's a Bay Area must stop for breakfast. Bring your appetite. I've been stopping by for years when I spend time in Bay Area.
This café is so busy but the service is really quick and friendly. Food is good. Scones are a must try.
Great attentive staff noted front and back where we were seated. Our waitress checked on us multiple times for food, water refills, if we were happy and needed anything. We felt very tended to even with a super busy lunch time on a Sunday! Food choices were awesome and quality was noted in the various dishes at our table- the farmers salad (poached eggs on a bed of veggies and potatoes) and loved the 3 Swedish oatmeal pancakes with bacon for that perfect texture and sweet and savory taste. The latte was delicious looking and tasting with sprinkle of coco on top. The place was high ceilings with a cool long unique space and it felt very non commercial. Quality food with not a huge list of things to be disappointed by. They seemed to have a lot of scones that people enjoyed ordering too. *LOVED my Swedish oatmeal pancakes w bacon and maple syrup (can add $$ for the good liquid golf and toppings like banana, lingon berries or bacon-1 is free) *service was outstanding especially for such a busy place. Everyone worked so hard during the rush hour! Better staffing than my hospital LOL
Went here for the first time with friends. Incredible food, bustling family atmosphere and personalized service. The coffee was excellent. There's only one bathroom at this location so make sure you go before breakfast.
A small storefront restaurant. Limited seating. We were there for lunch. Lunch special was inexpensive and sumptuous. The food was authentic. The service was great.
The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. The Thai Chicken Salad had an awesome dressing on it and the steak sandwich was very good, I just wish the steak was cut different so it didn't all fall out when you took a bite. Otherwise it was an excellent meal and I'd be happy to return.
This is a cute little place in Burlingame that functions as a breakfast cum brunch cum lunch fare. They’re open everyday until 2pm, and have quite a few options for food. They used to have a Redwood City Location too, but that’s permanently closed now. We went on a Sunday at noon, and there was no waiting. They’ve ample tables outside as well as inside. There is counter seating inside as well. We ordered French toast, Jalisco scramble and coffee. They’ve quite a few other options for scramble and other food too. They don’t have omelettes, in case you’re specifically looking for omelettes. The French toast tasted scrumptious, the scramble(which came with potatoes) was flavourful, and the coffee was well, as good as coffee can taste. The prices are decent considering the area. If you’ve a decent lunch veering on the edge of hearty, then expect to spend 20-25 dollars per person. They’ve a restroom at the back of the restaurant, and they keep it clean, which is nice. The service was prompt, and the servers along with the other staff did their best. Overall, it’s a nice local place to chill out and experience laid back vibes while dining in downtown Burlingame. There’s street parking nearby, and usually there are spots available. I’ll be back here again. Thank you to the staff!
Wonderful experience getting breakfast here. Service was warm, sincere, attentive; food came out so fast for how busy it was. Swedish oatmeal pancakes delicious, and the homemade coffee cake!
Excellent experience loved this place there oatmeal pancakes are the best also there homemade hot sauce is 🔥 must by a bottle for the house, our waitress sara was so nice professional and welcoming I highly recommend this place to anyone looking.
Alana’s Cafe is my go-to spot every week, and it’s not just for the amazing food—it’s the incredible team that makes this place truly special. Tiffany, Lupe, Sarah, Gladys, Francesca, Raymond, and everyone else are so warm, friendly, and inviting. They make you feel like family the moment you walk in. The Sunday experience is always a treat, especially with the surprise Egg Benedict specials—they never disappoint! Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious, from the comforting classics to the creative specials. The welcoming atmosphere and exceptional service keep me coming back week after week. Thank you, Alana’s Cafe team, for being the best!
Had the oatmeal pancakes and they were good. Service is super friendly. Because the place was so busy we took a seat outside which was beautiful. The omelette was also very good. We tried to order the smoked salmon omelette which was all sold out. I also had the cafe au lait which was good.
A lovely family-owned small cafe. The restaurant was a bit narrow but deep. They managed their tables well so the space between tables was not too bad. The open kitchen didn’t smell strongly either👍. The staff was nice and friendly. The food was tasty and good portion. Home-made coffee cake was big and tasty. But, the potato was a bit too salty. We will definitely go again but maybe asked less salt in potato😊
Wow we just looked this place up on our way from the airport for brunch and I’m so glad we stoped by it was absolutely delicious. One of the best brunches I’ve had in a while ! The Swedish oatmeal pancakes are hearty and decadent. Husband also loved his dish as well . Very cozy vibes here
We loved the swedish style pancakes. The brunch was pretty good.
I heard great reviews from family about this spot, and they weren’t wrong. Too bad I don’t live in the area or this would be my new favor breakfast spot. The food is cooked right in front of you if you sit at the “bar.” The cooks have the job down to a precise science and the food comes out looking as good as it tastes. I highly recommend trying this restaurant.
Favorites: Scrambles, Avocado toast with smoked salmon, and Swedish pancakes. Great Brunch place. The seating is limited, and it is fully packed in the weekend.
I had a very good breakfast experience at this restaurant! The menu has a great mix of Mexican and American dishes, and the meals we tried were delicious. The portions and prices were good. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. It was a cool morning and we still could sit outside and they turned the heater on. The only reason I usually would give 4,5 stars is that the portions are a bit small for my point of view. Overall, I highly recommend this place for breakfast or brunch!
Alaska Scrambled eggs are very good. Great portions Recommend with the coffee cake. Great service
First time there and breakfast was great, love the scambles and pancakes. Staff was wonderful as well. I recommend this place but go early for after 11:00 AM it get real busy. They have both indoor and outside seating...
This place is amazing!! I can't even think of one thing I would change. Keep in mind that on the weekends for brunch there will be a wait but when it's warm outside it's nice to stand in the sun and wait your turn. We got the farmers garden, huevos rancheros, and cheese scramble. Their home fries are to die for. Try out their house hot sauce too! I will definitely be back for more, this is the perfect brunch spot and prices are fair for the area.
This was my first visit to Alana‘s Café and I’m so happy I discovered it on a business trip to the SF bay area. I arrived at opening time on a Sunday morning and there was already a line forming. Fortunately, there was no one at the counter and I was able to be safely “socially distance” from others. I ordered the excellent Alaskan scramble (3 eggs with smoked salmon, spinach and cream cheese) with home fries and a freshly baked peach-orange scone. They also offered an excellent cinnamon-orange iced tea. The staff was very attentive and refilled it a couple of times! It’s a relatively small café, but with the additional seating in the Parklet and on the sidewalk in front of the café, they could handle quite a number of people. Alana‘s is definitely on my list for breakfast in my next trip to Burlingame
This is a great brunch place with exciting menu and food options. The place is obviously packed on weekends so expect a wait for at least 20-25 mins. Their oats pancakes with lingonberry sauce are just too good. They're not too sweet and the sauce makes them perfect. The sandwiches and Benedict is also very good.
Laura, our waitress, was so very welcoming and friendly - fantastic service! The Swedish oatmeal pancakes with ligonberries were great! And my son had huevos ranchers with homemade tortillas- excellent. He is not keen on potatoes but he ate all of them, a review on how good they were!!! I had their orange spice tea - the best and most flavorful I have ever had. And they sell the tea and the Pancake mix - of course, i got some to bring home!!

What a great find! Delicious cafe for breakfast/brunch with some standard offerings and differents twists on tried and true breakfast food like the oatmeal pancakes. Service was excellent! Warm and welcoming! We highly recommend!
I love this place for breakfast. It feels like I am eating in my Abuelita's kitchen. The food and comfort of this restaurant is great and comfortable. The only suggestion that I would recommend is to make sure the food is served very hot and not medium warm. The menu allows vegetarians and also people with food allergies some options as well.
I like this place a little more than Stack's only because it's tucked away and not so easy to get to at the moment. But, the downtown construction is almost finished... I discovered this place when we first moved here a couple years ago and just recently took a friend her for brunch. It's the typical mom and pop breakfast diner experience. They have diner style bar stool seating and normal table seating. I enjoy their pancakes and their omelettes. My friend enjoyed our experience here for the the friendly, attentive service.
Really nice staff and the Swedish pancakes were soooo yummy! And their hot sauce was delish! I only wish they had some vegan options on the menu. some tofu for an egg sub would be perfect!!
Man were we in need of food after finishing a 5K - it wasn't long, we just needed an excuse for brunch! 2 key things we look for for brunch (ordered by priority) - 1) they must have drinks, 2) need sweet and savory Alana's had both, and a long wait. I think this place always has a line though, there were groups just waiting, sipping coffee like they knew there was going to be a wait. Lesson: GO EARLY, and have everyone there. Food: proper brunch, eggs benedict, scrambles, waffles, etc. It's a traditional brunch, made well. They put their small twists on some of the classics, I had the salmon benedict. The hollandaise though, I've had better (sorry). Ambiance: it's a tight space, just like a diner, cut in half. It's nostalgic of a small town, where everyone knows you. Which the staff does, since they have regulars. As mentioned earlier, there is a wait, so get your coffee, settle on the sidewalk, and get prepared to eat.
Alana's is a Burlingame staple. The staff is super personable. The food is good. The atmosphere is lively. There's often a line and it's first come first served. Your whole party must be present to be seated and they do not take reservations. It's especially busy on the weekend for brunch. Martha's Swedish pancakes with lingon berry jam are amazing.
Came here for a Sunday brunch. I had the oatmeal pancake with lingonberries, and it was really good. It came with 3 stacks of pancakes and a couple slices of fruits. Service is eh. The place itself is quite small and understaffed. We had to wait 25 minutes, which is really not that bad. 3 people came to ask what we want for drinks, and we always answered coffee. But coffee never came, until the 3rd one. Overall, I would probably come back here for the pancakes. Hopefully, next time the guy will be in a better mood.
Great food at a classic style restaurant. Would've been 5 stars of it wasn't for the waiter directly asking us to leave a while after we had paid, citing there are people waiting. This has never happened to me and I was surprised. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll go back anytime soon. For the record, there were no people hovering around waiting, I was watching the host table with the sign up sheet.
Great service and drinks. The atmosphere is laid back and a great HV location. The pizza was a bit dry and needed less time in the oven. The orichetti was good
Stopped in for a great breakfast on a sunny morn. Service was exceptional. Tried the salmon scramble. An amazing choice. Delicious along with great handmade scones. I recommend it for a hearty breakfast, wonderful service, and overall friendly ambience.
Over all the food was good. The best part is by far the 'hole in the wall' feel, with a '50s diner bar vibe. I was slightly disappointed that the guacamole with my order was just store bought and scooped onto my plate. However, the staff is attentive and makes you feel at home.
Great place for brunch. Loved the simplicity of the atmosphere. Reminded me of a fonda in any place in Mexico. Service was great too. A bit pricey, but I guess those are San Mateo's prices.
Excellent service, good comfort food, and yummy baked scones. Scrambles are decent size, but not huge portions. Oatmeal pancakes taste good with a great texture.
Lovely sidewalk lunch. Hubby's egg scramble very good, chunky potatoes crispy outside and creamy inside. Coffee cake moist and full of fall flavors. My ahi tuna salad was good. Could have more flavor melding and more dressing. Pleasant outdoor meal!
Food was excellent, service was excellent. I am a coffee roaster and a barista who is very picky so keep in mind my extra experience but coffee was not great. Latte was completely not correctly made at all. Shots were not great and it was not fresh roasted. I poured the latte art in my profile pic. Though on the flip side to most people I would assume it's perfectly enjoyable to have with breakfast. I still drank all of it and it wasn't bad overall. If you are into high quality coffee though, this is unfortunately not the place. Sorry Alana's Cafe, I just call em like I see em. I did really enjoy breakfast though and your place is pretty neat.
I came here twice. First was on a Sunday and the line was long. We waited very long to find out that we could only be seated if we put our names on a handwritten wait list. We did not because nobody told us. The waitresses basically ignored the customers outside unless they had an open table and needed to call the next ones on the wait list. If we put our names on the list then, we had to start again in line and wait time was 45 mins. So, we left. The second time was today. The restaurant was not busy so we got a table immediately. First impression was the restaurant was really cozy and cutely decorated. It reminded of those American kitchen in the 60-70s movies. The restaurant had great ambience atmosphere to improve the mood of the customers. Water was served fast, but you had to wait until a waitress noticed you. I had my hand in the air for so long, but no one noticed. The food was good. We ordered one Alaska scrambles and one Alana’s combo eggs. You could not go wrong with the eggs though. Oh, I was a bit disappointed to find out they only serve eggs benedict on Sunday.
The home fries are addicting!!! They are seasoned so well they made the meal for me. Rest of the dishes are regular diner style eggs but sure make a hearty breakfast! You can swap out the sides for different things - I got a pecan maple scone for a little sweet touch!
A good brunch place! Quiche was delicious! Fresh pressed apple juice was indeed fresh and satisfying. Be mindful of quantity of food you order as they don’t have to go boxes. (just a paper plate and foil).
Eggs: 3/5 Pancakes: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Alana’s is a great indoor and outdoor spot for breakfast in Burlingame. The staff is very friendly. In terms of food they have weekly specials. My wife and I ordered the avocado toast which includes eggs and also salmon with it. The focaccia bread tasted bread and the eggs were just ok. Nothing particular stood out from this dish. But the pancakes were a fun experience! I really enjoyed the oatmeal pancakes with lingonberry. The berry tastes a little like strawberries but with a bit more tart. And the oatmeal pancakes were very moist and soft which I really enjoyed. I hope to visit them again in the near future.

And the oatmeal pancakes were very moist and soft which I really enjoyed. I hope to visit them again in the near future.
I admit that I came here with VERY high expectations. I've read so many reviews about the fresh scones and great brunch selection. Scones- These were tasty but a bit more dry than what I was expecting. I also felt that they were a bit too hard. Company's over- Good but it was like any other decent brunch restaurant in the Bay Area. A little on the small side and I felt that they skimped on the sausage. The potatoes were great and well seasoned. Mediterranean Scramble- Again, a small portion but the potatoes helped to fill me up. Banana Oatmeal pancakes- These are the only reason why I would ever come back. I love the texture and it's not quite like any other pancakes I've had before. Service was a bit slower, I never got a refill on my water or I had to ask a few times for the same request.
Good service. Not crowded on a Monday morning at 930am. Not a large menu but good size portions. Had the Alana’s combo and Oatmeal Pancakes with Loganberries. Nothing super special that I would wait in line for on a weekend but a decent breakfast. Sorry no photos. Interior was a bit dated and not super clean. Walls and floors could use a good cleaning.
Potatoes where over cooked and California scramble was blah. Was very busy. Waiting on coffee and water was a bother. Staff was nice but seamed confused at times. I will try again to see if it was a off day. Was great twenty years ago. Now just found two hairs in one of are plates. The staff was very embarrassed about the hair issue. Took the plate off the bill and was very kind about it. I come back again. It's a must try.
This is one of my favorite places to come with my son. The food is tasty and the staff was always warm and helpful. However today, we encountered a staff by the name of Tammy at the front - she was shockingly rude, seemed frazzled and literally barked at us after we asked her if she can open the umbrella for our outside seating. Restaurant was lively but wasn’t so busy that the maitre’d should be overwhelmed and rude. I hope this staff member doesn’t ruin the experience at this lovely neighborhood spot.

Cappuccino is pretty bad. Burnt taste. Too hot. Bacon is not flavorful. No texture. And they charge ya for hot sauce and don't even bother informing you hot sauce is charged when you ask for it. Won't recommend. Food is overall ok.

uncomfortably small and cramped, service was efficient but not very personable. the menu was creative and the food was prepared with attention to detail; scrambled eggs were served as well formed curds and the pancakes were large and fluffy. definitely a taste above the usual breakfast fare.
This place is a glorified Denny's. I ordered chicken apple sausage omelet with English muffins. The sausage looks as if bought from Safeway. The jam for the muffin was low quality. I think it came from a big can and transferred to a small container. The coffee was bland. And there was hair and egg shell on my girlfriend's pancake. The owner/mgr gave a 15% discount for the hair and egg shell. We should've gone to nearby Crapevine or Cafe Central. Christie's would have been much better too. Avoid.
Way overpriced for poor tasting food. The avocado smoked salmon toast and coffee were really disappointing. $22 toast but avocados were previously frozen so mushy and bitter. Smoked salmon was generous. Coffee tasted really bad and had to ask multiple times for it. Annoying part is they add mandatory tip without disclosing it first. In addition, they calculate the tip on top of the sales tax which is wrong. They refused to change it. I tip well but being forced to pay 20% tip for poor service, no thanks.
My mother was in today and told me a waitress there was RACIST towards her and her friend. We understand that their policy doesn’t allow outside food which they had BUT had the intentions to eat there. So what was the reason for the waitress to be inappropriate and extremely harsh towards them?If my mother and her friend were white, this situation wouldn’t have happened. Let’s be real. This establishment isn’t even GOOD to begin with, don’t waste your time. As a resident of Burlingame, I don’t ever eat there. Cafe Central or Crepevine are better. I’ve been told the OWNER has ALSO made racist comments..
My grandma went in for brunch with her friend today. She came back distraught because they mistreated her. The waitress was extremely rude and asked my grandma to go eat outside because she had her own coffee in hand! My grandma told her why and she replied that they didn't want bacteria entering their establishment!? Another server who was white heard and started smiling almost laughing at the interaction. My grandma and her friend are hispanic. This is extremely disappointing. We called to complain because my grandma was afraid to speak out and the manager or the owner of the establishment was extremely rude. We have a family friend that used to work there, she stated that the owner would occasionally make racist remarks. Terrible experience!
The food isn't that good. The beer was expired by a year. There are one or two good service staff, the hostess didn't know her menu, and worst of all, the cooks and dishwasher are all illegal aliens in a very dirty griddle area. Skip it and go to another cafe. lol
Ate here today and spent more than $100 for 2 adults and one kid. Service was decent up until the end. I wasn’t even done with my food and they started to rush us. I believe the owner cake couple of times and started picking up plates from the table. I was completely taken back and started to pack my food but I should’ve said something right then. Seeing that the person is still eating it is extremely rude to rush them out. Do better if you want customers to return and that’s meant for mainly the owner
For eight + years, I’ve enjoyed this restaurant with family and friends, often recommending it and always leaving generous tips. On this visit, both the food and service met expectations however the customer respect was missing. Moments after settling our bill, we were finishing beverages and enjoying our conversation when an individual, presumably the owner, interrupted us. She informed us that they needed the table due to high customer volume. While accommodating all guests is important, our time in the restaurant was under 45 minutes, and the request occurred moments after payment, before we had finished our beverages. The delivery of the message was abrupt and prompted our immediate departure. It was obvious that they valued table turn over more than customers. This interaction did not align with prior experiences at the restaurant. We felt the approach to post-payment interaction was rude and completely discounted us as valued customers. Management should review post-payment interaction policy. The feeling of disrespect was shared by every person in our party and the good will we shard for this restaurant is gone. It’s really sad that we are writing this and that we can no longer recommend this restaurant for those seeking a relaxed dining atmosphere.
