Out of all the restaurants in Boston, this is hands down the place I frequent the most. The seasonal tasting menu is $85 with generous portions with one of the most thoughtful wine pairings that actually elevate the food to another dimension. Having tried a lot of "high-end" tasting menus in NY, I would say this place absolutely ranks up there with some of the best restaurants. Their pastry chef is hands down the best - never skip dessert here because it actually is incredibly imaginative and delicious. Bartenders are super friendly and very knowledgeable about cocktails and wine pairings

I recently visited Puritan & Company for Dine Out Boston and had a very enjoyable dinner. The atmosphere was lively, especially after 6 PM when the restaurant filled up quickly. Service was attentive and friendly, and the bathrooms were clean—a detail I always appreciate. To start, I ordered the Citrus & Tonic mocktail. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend it. Mine was about 80% ice, lacked flavor punch, and for the price, the portion of actual drink was disappointing compared to similar mocktails I’ve had at other restaurants in this range. From the first course, I tried the chopped salad, which was fine but on the basic side and could have used a bit more flavor. On the other hand, the crab salad was exceptional—bright, fresh, and well balanced. I would absolutely order it again. I also had the smoked bluefish pâté, which I highly recommend. It comes with plenty of toast, so if you order this (or the crab salad, which comes with crackers), you can probably skip the Parker House rolls to avoid bread overload. For my main, I had the Dijon herb half chicken from the Dine Out Boston menu. It was a generous portion, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor—definitely a highlight of the night. Dessert was the bread pudding with malt custard, banana bread crisp, vanilla ice cream, and salted caramel. It was delicious but very rich—I couldn’t finish it. Overall, despite a couple of misses (mainly the mocktail and salad), the food quality, and ambiance make Puritan & Company a five-star experience in my book. I’ll be back, and next time I’ll be sticking to their seafood starters and hearty mains.

Overall the food was creative and tasty . Some of the dishes were incredible while others were good. We ordered east coast oysters which were very fresh and briny. Beets and Burrata salad was delicious. Burrata was fresh and creamy, the beets and oranges added a nice kick to the salad. Crab cavatelli, garlic shrimp and pan roasted cod were good but not dishes we would return for. What was outstanding was the bone marrow. Very delicious and the taste, texture and sauce were amazing. It is the dish I definitely recommend together with the east coast oysters (if you like raw briny oysters). The lemongrass desert was unique and creative , the chocolate bread pudding was rich and very chocolaty but a bit too sweet. Our server Jorge was wonderful. Very friendly, engaging and professional. He gave us very good recommendations and we felt very well taken care of. The atmosphere and ambiance were great too and we had an enjoyable dinner at this restaurant.

We had a lovely brunch here. We ordered: Salmon Crudo, Strawberry Rhubard Brioche, Buttermilk Biscuits, Blueberry Pancakes with Lemon Ricotta, and Smoked Turkey Tip Hash. No regrets, it was all delicious. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. The staff was fantastic.

Nice ambience with friendly service. Though the Cambridge restaurant was packed with dinner customers the service was friendly and fast. The food portions were slightly small for the high price. The oysters were fresh. The pork shop was delicious. The wine drink was paired well.

Great tasting menu and fun drinks! A nice atmosphere and overall great place! The seared squid was phenomenal! I highly recommend ordering it!

Great farm to table restaurant with a seasonal menu. Almost every dish was well-executed and had a unique touch. I especially loved the seared scallops and house rolls. While the prices were high, the quality was worth it. Service was friendly, and decor was rustic and bright. I'd come back!

Love this place! Was hoping to come here for the tasting menu but unfortunately it was still the Valentine's Day menu. However, our server went above and beyond to let us know what the tasting menu was like and was even kind enough to give us some rolls! We will definitely be coming back for that tasting menu in the future. However, I can say many of their items on the regular menu and the Valentine's Day menu were fantastic! They had a great wine selection as well.

A thoroughly pleasant and delicious dinner. Service was excellent and the ambiance was cordial and proper. Every dish I tried surprised me in it's own way with a unique flavor profile that satisfied just about every taste bud of mine. The oysters were sweet and creamy. The mushrooms were crunchy and bitter. The carrots had a nice acidic bite. The chowder was actually more lighter than I'm used to but then topped off with a savory bite of bacon. The pasta was my favorite with wonderful texture and nicely balanced sauce. Dessert was very decadent The only downside is that our server recommended the carpaccio. It was a very one dimensional dish and lacked it's own personality which every other dish had. Food: 9/10 Service: 9/10 Vibes: 8/10 Value: 4/10

Great restaurant, and absolutely delicious food! I had the Chef's tasting menu with matched wines and absolutely loved it! Stand out wine for me was a New York riesling that was absolutely amazing. I was travelling alone, and so grateful for the brilliant service and attention from the staff. Even the other patrons were very friendly! Can't believe I was able to walk in on a Saturday night, though I did go early and it got very busy as the evening progressed. I'd definitely book!

Rating Reflection: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟“Puritan & Company emerges as a sublime oasis, beckoning those who seek a culinary haven away from the bustling city life of Boston. Its charm lies not just in its food but in the very essence of its tranquil ambiance.” Sublime Decor: 🍴🎨Stepping into Puritan & Company is akin to entering a realm where industrial chic meets cozy comfort. The decor, with its exposed piping and ceiling lights, melds beautifully with the elegant bar and tastefully simple tables and chairs. This blend of styles fosters a serene environment, ideal for unwinding and indulging in a leisurely brunch. Efficient Service: 🙋‍♂️The service here is efficiently unobtrusive - striking the perfect balance between attentiveness and allowing guests their space. It’s this standard of service that accentuates the overall dining experience, making it seamless and enjoyable. Gastronomic Delight: 🥞🍳While we bypassed the baked goods, their visual appeal was undeniable. The real stars of our visit were the pancake and egg dishes - each fluffy, light, and executed to perfection. It’s evident that Puritan & Company prides itself on the quality of its cuisine, with a special nod to those irresistible cronuts/donuts that tantalize from afar. In Retrospect: 🤔Puritan & Company is not just a restaurant; it’s a retreat that promises and delivers a pause from the hurried rhythms of daily life, coupled with a feast for the senses. Final Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - “Great”“Puritan & Company: A Culinary Sanctuary in Cambridge.” For anyone yearning for a moment of culinary bliss, this establishment is a must-visit. Its harmonious blend of stunning decor, efficient service, and delectable fare creates an unforgettable experience that beckons you back, time and again. 🌱🍴✨

Excellent food and really good vibes. The menu doesn’t mark gluten free options but the staff were knowledgable and could let us know which were safe to have for a celiac. Would highly recommend. The risotto was especially memorable but the salads were both great too

A nice, casual but prime dining place. The food is really good, although the portions are quite small. It'd be nice to have more non-alcoholic wines/beers, and the 20$ prosecco glasses pile up on the bill quick, but overall - definitely recommended :) Too bad the scallops are served with meat, it'd be nice to have a piscatarian version.

Excellent New England farm to table restaurant. Feels like a little piece of Vermont in Boston. We got the bone marrow special and it was spectacular! Drinks were good. They have an expansive wine list. Will definitely be back for the tasting!

My sister highly recommended Puritan & Company after visiting Cambridge in the past. On my last night in Cambridge, I stopped in and was absolutely blown away. The staff were very cordial and took the time to answer all of my questions. I never felt rushed to order or to eat. I started with the bluefish paté with locally sourced rye bread made just for Puritan & Company. It was amazing and could have been my dinner. It would also be great at brunch, which I suggested to the staff, who were very receptive of the idea. Next, I had a half dozen oysters. They were some of the best oysters I ever had. Crisp, clean, and very tasteful. I could have eaten more of them. Finally, I had the crab Cavatelli. There was so much crab meat in the dish. It was a little rich, which was confirmed by my waiter, but still very good. If I am back in Cambridge, I am definitely coming back here.

We tried their Sunday 3 course tasting menu as well as a couple appetizers. Everything was delicious. I really loved the lemon meringue pie. They also had a decent offering for mocktails.

Very tasty food, and nice service! I wish there were more vegetarian options, but as a pescatarian I must say that the fish I tasted was really nice! Also, the presentations of the dishes was beautiful.

Puritan was featured among 50 best restaurants in Cambridge. This is one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in years. First, the staff is very welcoming and never rushed us, even though our dinner with friends lasted 3 hours. Second, the food was great. We ordered oysters, bone marrow toast and garlic shrimp for appetizers. All great, and the bone marrow toast was unusual and very good. Entrees included cod, seafood risotto, gnocchi and scallops. All were excellent, we also had carrots and beets - the beets were delicious. Desserts, drinks and coffee all excellent. I guess what most impressed me was despite being a really good restaurant in a very food savvy town, the place is not pretentious or obnoxious. We were treated like valued guests by everyone. I highly recommend Puritan!

Had an excellent experience at Puritan and Co. Vibe: Old fashioned but polished New England vibes Service: Very good. I love it when restaurants leave you with a carafe to refill your own water. Food: This was one of the best meals I've had in a while. We did the chef tasting menu ($75pp) and it was so good. Aside from the desert that wasn't a flavor profile I really enjoyed, everything was 10/10. We got house rolls which were soft, fluffy, warm, and served with a salted butter. Next was a raw fish (can't remember what it was, maybe an ahi tuna?) appetizer which was tasty and had a great crunchy texture. Next was a swordfish (my all time favorite fish) in a delicious sauce. After that was a creamy pasta dish with lardons than was tasty. Then a trout with grilled artichoke that was absolutely AMAZING, the flavors were sweet and acidic and meaty all at once, definitely my favorite dish, I savored every bite. Last was a miso cheesecake with pistachio and ice cream that really did not hit for me flavor wise but considering everything was a surprise, having only one dish that wasn't my jam isn't terrible. Everything was beautifully plated. Value: This place is $$$ but the flavors and textures were absolutely excellent, portions were just right, I would say that the value was on point. Overall I would definitely recommend Puritan and Co for a fancy night out and would go again.

years of walking past but never trying, went for Christmas Eve dinner. As a born and raised New Englander I was never wildly enticed by a New England menu, I was very very wrong. Excellent service, lovely bartenders answered all my questions about the amaros. Parker House Rolls so warm and fluffy, I wish I could shrink down and crawl into one to sleep. garlicky buttery spinach with a rare steak. All masterfully executed simplicity.

Excellent, went for brunch. Lots of variety, pastries are 🤌 the smoked salmon potato pancakes had sour cream instead of cream cheese which was amazing!!! 👌

The dinner, service, and ambiance were great! We visited to celebrate my wife's birthday, and everything was perfect. All the drinks we tried were delicious: lion’s tail, indio skies, and vieux carre. The dishes we most liked were the carpaccio and seared scallops. We will come back to try the oyster bar.

Puritan is consistently excellent: excellent cocktails, excellent food, excellent people. The Parker house rolls are always yummy, the bar burger is always great, the oysters are always fresh. Yum.

Tasting menu + wine pairing was a really fun experience! The person who waited on us was very knowledgeable and answered our curiosities about both the food and wine. I do wish they'd list each course since the online menu has no details. A couple of the dishes were finalized or developed over the weekend, so I understand the last minute nature of it, but a little printout would have been nice. 🥖 complimentary dinner rolls + butter - pillowy glistening goodness dotted with salt flakes on top 🐟 fish (bass?) crudo in yuzu broth with red onion and apples - light and fun. Interesting opener served with a clean-tasting, refreshing Crémant de Loire white wine. 🦀 butter-poached crab with a creamy sauce and crunchy nest topping - warm, comforting, and a unanimous favorite. personally would've liked a small piece or crusty bread to go with it since the crab and sauce were both soft, but flavor-wise a hit. Also served with a white. 🫛 a version of pasta e fagioli - the pasta was round and bigger than pearl couscous. the shape and size of it made each spoonful delightful. served with green beans chooped to the size of the pasta and paired with a delicious orange wine. 🫘 a very Boston pork and beans - a tender, melt in your mouth piece of pork surrounded by soft but not mushy beans. Dunkin' was involved, though I can't quite recall how (pork was braised in it? beans were baked?). a sweet and salty combo to go with a nice Scenic Valley Pinot Noir. Typicaply not a big fan of red wines but really enjoyed this one. 🍁 dessert was a maple sable cookie with a type of cream, fruit, and nuts but i don't remember the details. it was too sweet for me with the cookie, but having to break it open with your spoon was a fun idea though the cookie was quite tough in reality. still enjoyed the other components of the dish though, a nice way to end the meal. Portions were good; didn't leave hungry or overstuffed. Atmosphere was nice, too -- not too loud or quiet, nor the lighting too dim or bright. A fun first experience and would definitely come back.

We’ve come a few times for their tasting menu with wine pairings has never disappointed. They pours are generous and the staff is extremely friendly.

Came hungry. Had already walked two miles both up and down a hill. Left emotionally attached to my entrée. Every dish tastes like it went to culinary grad school and graduated with honors. Bold, balanced, and dangerously delicious. The kind of food that makes you pause mid-bite and rethink your entire dining history. That mushroom pastry? Life changing. Service was warm, intuitive, borderline psychic. Vibes are cozy, candlelit, effortlessly cool. Five stars isn’t enough. Cancel your plans and go. Your taste buds deserve this.

Loved our Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu. Both my wife and I enjoyed all of the courses - and they were a fair price. The cocktails and mocktails were a hit with us both. Our server, Bryan, was attentive and helpful. The slight drawback is that we were seated in the event space, which was thoughtfully appointed for the occasion, but a preference would have been made to the main dining room, which felt like a better atmosphere.

t
todd carranza

Every bite of food tasted better than the last. Food bursting with subtle flavors brilliantly combined to a meal more memorable than each dish alone. The carrot cheesecake redefines what a dessert can rise to. But the service from the welcome upon entry, pampering service following makes this the first restaurant I’ll come back to over and over. Your only regret is that you didn’t discover this place sooner and that the evening eventually had to end. Thank you!!

Bryan was a great server with best advice and delicious recommendations . Also sent over great dishes as gifts and what a treat to let us know what additional amazing dishes there were. Hello sunchokes!? Never wound have known. Thank you for lovely dinner and great food and vies

Great meal and service. Jorge was a wonderful server tonight. The menu was updated since our last visit and entrees seemed to be more elevated. Everything was delicious. The kids burgers is such a deal as well!

This place always delivers. This was our favorite place in Cambridge when we lived here and wish we could come more often but we enjoy it when we can. Bryan was great and service was perfect as always and this place is also super kid friendly with kids water cups, crayons and coloring pages. Just wish I could go back to the old days with the Thursday bar pies.

My biggest regret from the evening is that we didn’t have more eaters so that I could have tasted more plates. Brian took care of us so wonderfully. He helped us choose incredible bites, and helped my friends and I have a warm and wonderful evening. I can’t wait to come back.

We've been coming to Puritan & Co for years! It somehow manages to blend fantastic food with a relaxed, neighborhood feel. It's such a pleasure to watch locals eating at the bar, old friends laughing at a table, and a group of colleagues dining out at the big tables. The staff also make the experience! Jorge and many others make you feel welcome the second you walk in. We hope to eat here for decades to come!

We came right at end of brunch and really enjoyed the scrambled eggs as it wasn’t so heavy. The pancakes were good too. Space is a bit dark and high ceilings.

We had the tasting menu + wine pairing. While the dishes were slightly underwhelming, the wines were very well paired. Arrive 30 minutes prior to allow yourself adequate time to find parking (and walk). Parking in this area of town was rough.

D
Dara Behjat

Overall good experience. Service is top top notch, we had a small issue and they immediately rectified it and took good care of us and it was very timely and elevated the experience. Nice ambience and a pleasant place to eat. Food was mixed. Nothing will wow you at all but there are some solid dishes. The beets and brussel sprouts are tasty and the Parker rolls are great. The mushrooms are a huge miss just deep friend so you taste no mushroom just oily batter. The chicken is cooked perfectly and tasty, the cavatelli dish was extremely bland and tasteless, the pasta was fresh so didn't mind eating it at the end of the day. Surprise highlight was the fenugreek cheesecake, that was absolutely fantastic.

A

Good dining experience. Very friendly and knowledgeable service. My server replaced a dessert I didn't like with no change- which was very nice of her. Did the tasting menu which was nice. Next time I'll prob try the a la carte menu. Parker House rolls: Pillowy soft. Slightly sweet with a light dusting of salt on top. Butter was creamy and tasty too. 4/5 Potato pave Like a giant French fry. Crispy outside nice and soft on inside. Topped with cavier and shallots which added a nice saltiness and savory flavor combo. kampachi crudo- Topped with basil, radishes, and cherry pepper drops Good quality fish, slightly acidic flavor went well with the basil and radish. Cherry peppers added a light spice. Overall lacked flavor though 3.5/5 capitelli- topped with a Gremolata and capers, olive oil and eggplant Very savory and well cooked. This was tasty 4.5/5 Pork loin with celery figs and peppers Very tender and flavorful. Nice sauce with savoriness and a sweetest added by the figs 5/5 Dessert was a pear sorbet- So good! Very. Tasted exactly like a pear. No added sugar no additives. so good! 5/5

Overall, it was pretty good. We tried the pork belly, beef tartar, burrata, and scallop. The portions are just right, not too big or small. The beef tartar had an interesting spice mix, which was a cool twist. Loved the fresh burrata. The scallop was a bit on the smaller side; the sauce was nice, but wasn't a fan of the cabbage with it. As for the pork belly, it was alright, but nothing to write home about. All in all, a solid dining experience.

H
Hannah 187

I was disappointed with Puritan. I ordered marrow and it was slathered with far too much sweet sauce and the toast was too buttery. The crab risotto was too salty and presentation not attractive. Drinks were very expensive, and actually the whole meal was too expensive given the quality of dishes. The ambiance was nice but I unfortunately will not be coming back.

C
Christine Chao

I had a very mixed experience at Puritan and Co. The mains were stand out dishes which absolutely deserve your attention. (Skip next paragraph for a great review of main dishes and dessert.) But the starters were very disappointing. We got the Parker house rolls, fresh burrata, octopus to start. As a fan of Parker house rolls, these were a little burnt, cold and tasteless - a general disappointment but maybe we just got unlucky. The fresh burrata was tiny and did not make a lot of sense with the salad but as a separate component the salad was good. The octopus was probably the most disappointing. We couldn’t figure out what we were eating half the time - there might have been potatoes or pork on the plate but I’m not sure and the octopus was such a small portion. For main dishes we got Phyllo wrapped cod, New York Strip Steak, Saffron Risotto. There were all high quality and delicious. You can’t go wrong with any of them. I have never had phyllo wrapped anything before and this was a unique and delicious dish. It came on top of clam chowder. This dish should be THE dish of Boston/Cambridge. The NY strip steak was tender with a great sauce. I wish I saved a roll to dip in this sauce. And the saffron seafood rice was well portioned and had a good serving of seafood. I’m not sure what the name of this dessert was but wow it was rich and the flavor combination was unique in a clean-every-crumb-off-the-plate way. All things considered, I would be hesitant to come back because of the price point and how few dishes I actually enjoyed. But there are some dishes are high quality and absolutely worth the price.

T
Tina Deyhim

We order the chef’s choice(75$pp). 5 courses. I can only say 2 of them were really good but non of them mind blowing! First was something with mustard pickle which was kinda bitter and not good. The second was battered cod with bean paste (really good). The third coarse was chili pasta with lobster, which in my opinion was nothing special. The 4th one was rib, I should say it was tasty. And finally for dessert: chocolate cake with pomegranate marmalade(nothing special and somehow dry cake). In general the whole experience wasn’t as good as I expected. I should add that everything was on salty side.my general score:3.5/5

I was very excited to come to Puritan & Company after reading reviews and looking at pictures but was quite disappointed with the food. Nothing tasted amazing. The brussel sprouts and fried hen of the woods mushrooms were both too salty. The pappardelle was not served hot and the pasta was too undercooked. The phyllo wrapped cod was very bland and also not served hot. The bread rolls, strip steak, and seafood risotto were good but not great. I expected better considering the price point. Otherwise, I liked the decor and the service was attentive and friendly. Perhaps their head chef is on vacation for the holidays which would explain the disappointing food quality. I would not recommend this restaurant.
