Friendly waiters, great food, nice ambience with live music - they will even do a table side serenade (for $12 us)

You will not notice the restaurant from the street, but when you travel down the hall and walk down the steps to the dining on the beach, you will be transformed into a wonderful setting. The food is so fresh and hands down the best ceviche I have ever had. The service was excellent, and there were great portions and prices. I will definitely come back on my next trip to Cancun.

Tacos governador are excellent!! Guacamole as well. The margaritas are too expensive but at least they are big and delicious. I recommend the place but be prepared for the bill…

So we did a bit of research around Cancun (we stay at Westin vacation club) and found this gem after having a look at google reviews. The food was amazing, we ended up coming back twice in our 3 day trip. We had the govern tacos 10/10, then the stuff fish, fish Fritanga (fritanga means their spicy sauce) fiesta shrimps, and mixed ceviche. It’s very kid friendly they even have a small kids club! Overall very very good well priced and highly recommended.

We’ve been coming to Cancún for my son’s birthday the last four years, and this place hit the spot. Total comfort food—we liked it so much we came back the next day. Drinks are super reasonably priced compared to other spots, and they don’t skimp—they’re doubles. Best part? They’ve got an air-conditioned kids playroom, so you can actually enjoy half your meal in peace. Huge win for everyone

We came here based on a locals suggestion from the jungle tour. We tried the burritos chicken and steak and we loved it! The salsa is amazing! We came back the next day and tried their tacos before we head back to the states. The tacos are fresh and the juice is good!

we got breaded shrimp tacos, panko fish tacos, pinada (mocktail pina colada) and fish fillet fritanga. The shrimp in the taco was perfect cooked and season, easily the best tacos we’ve had during our weeklong stay in Cancun. The fish tacos were excellent as well. The fish fritanga came with a spicy sauce, which enhanced the well seasoned fish. The mocktail pina colada was to die for. Staff were super welcoming. Hands down the best food/restaurant in the hotel zone. Sadly we only discovered it on our last day here, I could easily see us eating here on a daily basis. Highly recommend.

Pedro was magnificent! Impeccable service and attitude! The best food you can get in Cancun hotel zone and maybe even Cancun downtown, which they have a location there too as well, don’t waste you time at the other spots if you want decent food. Their drinks were really good and everything I couldn’t find a complaint, the restrooms were SUPER clean.

Upon walking up to this restaurant it looked like a small shack which I was okay with, I was just very hungry. To my surprise the restaurant was downstairs with a beautiful view of the lagoon. We were seated immediately the staff was VERY attentive. The music is great, the food was amazing. Our server LUIS made sure we had everything we needed, checked up when needed and wasn’t pushy at all. He answered our questions about the menu in detail. Great spot for seafood, all the sauces on the side were a great addition as well.

Great spot overlooking the water. They even had a DJ spinning a good mix of rock, funk and reggae music. Large portions of food. We enjoyed everything except the crab soup, it was thin and bland. But the fried fish was superb!!!

Not once but Twice I came here with friends during the week! Yes it was that good! You must get the fried fish and the garlic that goes with it 🔥. The drinks were freshly made with real fruit and the dips for the chips were fresh. Everything was just fresh. Service is quick. The servers are extremely attentive. You can't beat the outdoor seating right on the water. It makes for magnificent sunset views. It's a hidden gem in the cut. I have nothing but great things to say, but try it yourself!

Delicious Mexican dishes! Delightful and helpful wait staff. And even roaming musicians to serenade us! Wonderful and tasty! Very fun setting on the waterside! Drinks, delicious dinners, gorgeous atmosphere, tip, all for decent price for 2.

This is such a fun restaurant for dinner on a Saturday night. There was a live band who sounded very good. Plus the food was excellent and the fajitas portion was too much for one person. My husband had the 7 layer chocolate cake and couldn't finish it. Thankfully, they provided doggie bags. Well worth the visit.

We have been coming to Cancun for 30 years. Many of those trips, especially the last few years, include 2 or 3 stops here. The bar is well stocked with sports on TV. Waterfront location is great, and most tables are in the cool shade - but you can sit by the water and enjoy the sun as well. Food is excellent. Clam chowder is very good, if a bit expensive. Fried whole fish was great. Lots of drink options - and fabulous breakfast.

We had an absolutely wonderful dining experience! From the time we arrived until we left, the staff was overly friendly. We were immediately served complimentary fresh tortilla chips with 6 different sauces.Our meal started with an appetizer of pescadillas, a traditional Mexican favorite-they were excellent! Then we ordered coconut shrimp, grilled white fish, linguine with vodka sauce &shrimp, fried shrimp and a 750gram Lobster tail😋 The kids ordered buttered linguine and chicken fingers. The food was cooked to order and DELICIOUS! Our server was LESLIE who was fantastic!! It was our granddaughters 6th birthday and they brought out a bowl of ice cream with a huge piece of tres leche cake with a sparkler-everyone singing happy birthday 🎈 It was truly a wonderful evening, the atmosphere was amazing over the lagoon and the food was phenomenal! This has been our 7th year going to El Fish Fritanga and it is always a winner. Would definitely recommend it to everyone and give it a 5 star rating!!!

Not enough positive words for this absolutely fantastic place. Amazing food, fabulous vibe and outstanding service. Fair prices and beautiful either inside or out. We went twice in one week. Killer lobster and apricot shrimp, crab soup and do not leave without trying the pineapple creme brulee!!! Francisco and German were the best servers! Great lounge too . A must try! And get a pic with the shrimp statue out front! 👍👍👍👍👍

This place is a hidden gem! Located right on the water, outside with a thatched roof. Delicious guacamole, chicken and steak fajitas, clam chowder, sashimi and generous drinks. Highly recommend!

Gabriel and Luis were amazing servers. The food was incredible. We highly recommend the shrimp ceviche (enough for 3-4 people to share). We thought the jicama fried shrimp tacos were tasty.

We ate all of this food shared between 3 adults and we still had some leftover. Our favorite was the fried fish, which came with a great onion and pepper dipping sauce. The fish was very crispy and we were able to pick between two catches of the day- grouper or snapper. The octopus was super tender and grilled well. The tacos were both very good- tasting very fresh. Overall it was a yummy meal. We were there celebrating my daughter’s Birthday and they brought a complimentary slice of cake and even played birthday music!

Great spot on the lagoon side. Atmosphere and decor is beautiful. There was a DJ in the house when we were there. We had the fried fish which was quite a sight and also cooked to perfection. They also had a good selection of desserts to choose from. A must-try if you’re in the area.

Very chill spot for good bites and quality drinks. Everything tasted very fresh. Heads up, when you arrive the restaurant is actually down the set of stairs through the small alley!

We came here on a Friday and they didn't let us sit near the water. They said it's for reservation, but entire time we spend at the restaurant, it was empty. We paid $60+ for a non alcoholic drink, tuna steak and chicken fajita. Limited parking and I had to vallet. We won't be coming back.

I do not recommend this place. We left feeling pretty disappointed. The portions were small for the price, and overall the food was just okay — nothing special. There are definitely much better places in Cancun where you can spend this kind of money and get a much higher-quality experience. What really upset us was the pricing on the coconut drinks. We were charged 255 pesos each for a coconut drink, and we ordered four. That alone came out to over 1,000 pesos — almost as much as the food itself. We did not see the price listed anywhere for the coconuts, which made it feel very misleading. If the price had been clearly posted, we probably would not have ordered them. Being surprised by such a high charge at the end left us feeling taken advantage of. Service was okay, but unfortunately that wasn’t enough to make up for the high prices and underwhelming food. Just be careful and double-check prices before ordering.
