We had pancake stacks and they were amazing! Never disappoints.

They have great food with awesome deals, and on Tuesdays kids eat free, which is great for this Santa Cruz location on 41st Avenue. They're right across from Cinelux theaters, where on Tuesdays movies are just $5. Can't beat that. Recently my girlfriend and I went here to have dinner with her family. As we were leaving, my girlfriend couldn't find her key. The staff was super helpful. I was really impressed by April, who went out of her way to help us. She searched everywhere until it was found and ended up finding my girlfriend's key in one of the menus. I'm encouraging everyone who visits this location, if April is working, request April as your server and leave her a really good tip. She deserves it. I'll definitely be visiting this location again soon.

I put five star for IHOP itself. I went in there for two. Everyone seemed frustrated, a server told me it was going to be a 45 min wait so I kindly declined due to my hungerness and the server told me honestly I would never come here and to go to Capitola diner. Please help and fix your staffing and environment. I always liked IHOP.

Came in and was about to sign up but was greeted by a nice lady who told us we would be seated immediately. They sat us took our order and got it perfectly with a pitcher of coffee, so we didn't have to ask for more. The waitress girl was super kind with good manners, and the food came out almost immediately. All in a span of less than an hour. They have good service here. The waitresses are always running around, making sure everyone is good and settled.

Also, their girls bathrooms water faucet is super hot and they even posted a note next to the faucet warning us that it gets hot and even had instructions on how to get the water to get cold. If you want to try traditional breakfast in the States, you have to try ihop. Take the combo cause the pancakes would keep on coming until you're full!! Really good meals for fair prices.

IHOP is usualy busy so you now the food has to be great. I love that its kid friendly but we always end up wait 30 minutes to be seated. Then we usually and acquainting another 30 minutes for food to come to our table but it is more than worth the wait.

Love the remodel. Good breakfast and burger menu... service was excellent, a total shock in Santa Cruz... would have got a 5 but the pancakes were cold and the kitchen was super slow... other than that this is the best IHOP I have ever been to...

It's IHOP, not much more to say. The design of the building makes it very noisy though - definitely avoid if you are noise-sensitive, especially during peak hours. Waitstaff was excellent though, kind and funny and easy to get along with.

Pleasantly surprised. IHOP had very nice, fast service. The waitress was very professional and had a very good attitude. I had the chicken vegetable salad, it was delicious! Definitely coming back.

IHOP sure has changed over the years, not as many options as there used to be. There seems to be a lot less focus on creating a variety of pancakes with different syrups, which is odd for a place that has Pancakes in the name. The hash browns are probably the best I have had at a restaurant, I'm not sure what makes them so special but they are delicious.

A good enough bacon and egg breakfast. Clean, friendly staff, little wait for a table, and plenty of parking. I had there "breakfast sampler" the eggs, bacon, and ham were all good. The pancakes were not bad, but tasted like the lacked anything fresh. The hashbrowns had a strong preservative taste to them. One more person back in the kitchen mixing packaged pancake mix with eggs and buttermilk, and grating potatoes and I could give this restaurant a solid 5 stars.

We have some 3 and 4 star restaurants in the county that don't offer the quality of service that this IHOP. They take care of your every need in an incredibly short time. The breakfast burrito is lovely when you get it and eat it warm.

The food is always good here, freshly prepared. My issue is with the front house staff. Most of the hostess' are attentive and nice but one time recently I walked in when there were hardly any customers there and wasn't greeted for minutes. I just sat there watching them wall around. Eventually I just left. This only happened once but I think it's important for the staff to simply acknowledge customers during low traffic times. You don't have to always help someone immediately but just saying "I'll be with you in a moment goes along way". If I feel like a ghost I always take my business elsewhere.

I liked this place because it was quick enough to not have to wait for longer than 15 mins. I ordered the steak and eggs, but the steaks was a little bit undercooked so I asked to have it go back to the kitchen which was nice, although the manager was really snappy and rude. It wasn't the best experience but our waitress was so good that she made it four instead of two stars

The food is of a very high quality for a family restaurant. The only draw-back is that every time we have gone, they are understaffed and the wait time is long. The strawberry and banana French toast is great.

Take my SR. Mom there at least 1 once per week. Clean & comfortable location. Good value...must ask for Sr Discount each time (not automatic). 95% of the in time service is EXCELLENT & food is prepared well. Recently had a 2nd BAD experience with an unfamiliar server who was very rude & neglecting tableS, incorrect orders WHEN they came & COLD, HARD EGGS on EGGS BENEDict...yuck Not sure if the cook was new or rude waitress just ignored the order up & left sitting too long before serving. Quite the extreme opposite of our USUAL great experience!

For train restaurants not bad atmosphere is nice Foods okay service is great for some fruit grapes decent for what I paid for

Went on a busy Sunday morning, waited around 30 minutes for two people. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Food came out in around 20 minutes, which was a pleasant turnaround time considering the place was at full capacity. Food was okay, typical breakfast joint type nothing special.

The food was delicious and my server was very nice. I did have to wait about 5 minutes when I came in to be seated even though there was no one ahead of me and no one acknowledged me in that time. Also the floor at my both was very greasy to the point I slipped around when I got up. Otherwise it was a good experience and I'd try them again. Update 4-2-24 service was slow to the point I walked out after waiting 15 minutes for a seat and never even being acknowledged.

Standard IHOP location, average quality diner style food. Large restaurant, but there's often a wait. Good kids menu/options. Lots of parking nearby. I'd recommend the country fried steak and gravy and the New York cheesecake pancakes. Very weak and mediocre coffee. I do come here every few weeks despite the complaints because it's a laid back and casual vibe and I do like the menu items mentioned.

Senior menu is ridiculously smaller than the kids menu. Very short staffed, majority of staff do not smile or very enthusiastic about working. Alice was one of two servers who were eager to attend to their customers.

We never got to eat breakfast. Was a 30/40 minute wait. There was a waiting list and most of the tables were empty so I didn’t understand why there was such a long wait time.

I've been here a few times and I am always underwhelmed by the food. The servers are always very polite and friendly, so kudos for that. The quality of the food and drinks is very mediocre, and for the price we pay, I would prefer to make the meal myself.

The restaurant was cold and our waitress seemed like she did not want to be there. They were out of hash browns and strawberrys at 5 pm. The salad tasted like it had been rinsed in chemicals. Will not be going back.

Service was really slow. Restaurant was not busy. Looked like plenty of staff. Food was just okay. Coffee was old and tasted horrible. They did make another pot and it was better. I do not recommend. Manager was looking for something from another table, and I asked him for something and he said he'd be right back and never came back.

I’ve always loved the IHOP brand but honestly, this place is just a terrible example of one. Same menu items and the people seem nice but that’s all the positives. Places too small for how popular IHOP is. That means insane wait times on the weekend and in summer in general. They don’t pick up their phone and they lag with online orders. They were out of sugar for coffee and the waitress only made a slight effort to find some more which she couldn’t. Not end of the world, but gave an accurate impression of this IHOP. Something I want to mention, this IHOP had numerous groups who pushed “customer satisfaction” to the limit. I mean, they were seated already done with their food when I got there, I waited to be seated over 30 minutes (party of 1), finally got seated, and by the time I ordered my food, ate, and paid my bill, those groups were STILL there! Not eating or anything literally just sitting there while people complaining that their expected wait time just to be seated was now over an hour. I’ve never experienced this at an IHOP, and I’m not sure if IHOP has a policy on this. I mean, I’m all for people enjoying their time when they pay money, but there must be a limit at some point. I have politely been asked for my table in the past for other restaurants (not IHOP) when it was clear I was finished with my meal because they were really busy. That specific restaurant DID have a posted time limit policy, which was very fair. But like I said, I’ve never experienced people hogging table time like that at an IHOP but I must point out that there was no effort to collect the table from those groups from the staff.

Worst service ever!! We were driving down from SF to LA and stopped here for breakfast. When we arrived Alicia took us down for a table for 7 and told us to wait for a few mins. 15 mins passed and no follow up, when we approached her she told us that it will take another 15 mins. When we told her she has been seating large tables who came after us she looked at us as if she is lost and then she told us it will take another half an hour for us to be seated. After reminding her that she had told us in the begining that "it will take only few mins", she didn't even apologise with a I don't care attitude. We have visited a lot of IHOPs and their service used to be always good. This experience was really bad thanks to Alicia and her co workers. Finally, we left without any apology, acknowledgement and food.

Never have an awesome experience here but today was beyond bad! I ordered 3 plates online hoping online would better than waiting 30 minutes . 2 out of 3 players were wrong . My order was due @ 8:42 and I didn’t get it until 9:15. Then you would think I’d get an explanation or apology but nope nothing. I’m so patient and understanding but to have this happen .... IM DONE

So this was basically the worst restaurant experience ever. Waited 45mins just to get acknowledged by the waiter then over an hour for the food. Sitting there with a hungry old diabetic lady was not fun. btw no one was getting their food, at least 6 other tables were in the same position. When it finally came it was cold of course. The manager said it was because they had some big parties come in. Just because you have big parties doesn't mean you ignore multiple other tables jeez. I knew service wasn't great here but this was just beyond ridiculous. Yikes.

It's OK for a meeting. However, we asked for our senior discount 3 times and still we were charged full prize. And the fish was hard as rock (could not even cut it with a knife).

Bad experience overall. Staff is unconcerned and aloof. Seating and service is slow. The food was not good. Some items had to be sent back to the kitchen. The other items were solder through due to fear that it would take even longer to be remade

I was here with two other people. Ordered the breakfast sampler with side of crepes instead of PA makes and side of toast. After eating my proteins still waiting for toast it arrives. Finishing up my first piece of toast and I come to find MOLD ON MY TOAST!!! Gave it to the server. Who passed it around like it need to be clarified it was mold. We get up to leave and she says she only takes the toast off, while every worker was in the back corner laughing. I've never been so disgusted with a restaurant crew in my entire life. She did not even care and we still payed for the entire meal. I will be speaking the manager because this is TERRIBLE SERVICE.

First waited on the phone to place an order, after 15+ minutes of waiting, and calling again, figured I'd walk in, expecting it to be busy, but nope, The place wasnt busy. Then waited the same amount of time I waited on the phone for my food. Why have phone orders, if you guys don't answer the phone?

The waitress had such a horrible attitude that she made us wait for 30 mins before taking our order, the manager came our a couple of times to check on us, but she would openly fight with him. I have no idea why she is still employed there. We were a groups of 8 and walked out of there without placing an order after waiting at the table for 30 mins

First time eating at IHOP. The Waiter Jesus was great. Food was delicious. When I arrived home I had already experienced stomach cramps and had diarrhea. For about 4 hours. On way home had to make emergency stop at Gas station bathroom. I was in good health before arriving at IHOP. I do not recommend the Burrito Classic. I spent $36.47 for Breakfast with my guest. She did have to use the bathroom after she ate. Did not want to discuss her experience. She had the Breakfast Sampler. Overall we had a bad experience.

I'm reading this place of one star I got acknowledged when I walked in and walked to my table and then waited 15 minutes just to walk back out I didn't even get offered a coffee or water I just sat there staring into the abyss I felt invincible. Then I realized I didn't even have a french toast combo so I walked out. The service here is lacking I just went to denny's instead.

Never again. This i-Hop has the worst food ever. I have eaten there twice now, hoping the first time was just a bad day, never again. My eggs Benedict was the worst. Hollandaise Sauce broke and was greasy - my waitress served it anyway - obvious they don't have a clue as to what good food looks like and my wife's pancakes were raw inside. No, we didn't have them redo them because we were hungry, and frankly, I don't have the time to wait for their cook to learn the basics. What a shame because I live around the corner. That review was 14 years ago, and we have never been back. I go out for breakfast often, and I never go to any IHOP because 14 years ago, this IHOP ruined my breakfast. Let that sink in. I still live right around the corner. I actually go further to get breakfast at other places.

Sitting for 10 minutes and no one is coming to take our order. Asked about 5 mins ago that we are ready to order and the waiter said of course, i will send someone and still after 10 mins no one came.

We walked in to an almost empty IHOP (4 people dining) . We waited 10min. Before we got seated because no one was around. When we ordered the pancakes came cold with no butter, the bacon was stiff and the ham was very dry. When I asked for warm pancakes with butter she replied "I will in a minute " and processed to take her time. We made a complaint to the manager, he gave us a discount. They won't see us in there again and we left no tip.

Everything about this place is unorganized chaos. Was ignored at the host stand..did. ot seat me in a timely manner and only two people r unning the floor.

If I could give them zero stars for their service I would... Not only were they rude but they failed to place half my order and only gave us 5 mozzarella sticks in an order for 6... Won't be returning..

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. The service was terrible. And I ordered a t bone steak that looked like it was plastic. We had to wait 20 minutes to get our drink orders in, and we were ready to order at the same time, And then another 20 minutes to 30 minutes for the food to be cooked, and it sat up under the heat lamp for another 15 minutes.I will never ever go back to that restaurant again.

The waitress ignored us the whole evening. It wasn’t even busy, there were only two other tables. And when I put 0 tip, instead of asking what went wrong, you know what she did? She said that the “recommended tip” was 18%. Are you kidding me? THAT’S how you train your staff?! You see people who are clearly upset, and you ignore that and don’t ask what went wrong :/ How are you going to demand a 18% tip when you ignored us the whole evening?! No wonder why restaurants are failing and people are ordering online more.

AVOID this place at all costs if you're in a hurry or you don't enjoy waiting forever to get a order in or recieve your food!!!!! I've been in love w/ their "Philly Cheese Steak Stacker" for many years now so this is the only reason I still frequent this place. Even if you call in your order you still have to deal with and put up with LAZY/ RUDE STAFF! The Staff would much rather get paid here for looking at their PHONES and not in customers directions so they can avoid eye contact and pretend they don't see you. The managment at this place is a complete JOKE as well! I've now dealt with about 3 different managers in the past 7-8 years or so and trhey all don't do too well! I was finally influenced to write a honest review after all these years when I ate here a few days ago. Even though I knew what I was getting involved in when I ordered to pick up. I still delt with LAZINESS and RUDE interactions from the TERRIBLE STAFF! The entire place was EMPTY! 2 other cumstomers were there before us and were eating. Just trying to get seated took about 8-10 mins. With the staff purposely putting their back to us and then haveing a fight in front of us about who would come seat us is just too much BS at this point!!!! STAY CLEAR FROM THIS AWFUL BUSINESS! BUT IF YOU NEED TO LIKE ME JUST ORDER TO PICK UP IF YOU STILL LOVE THE SIGNATURE FOOD!

Terrible service! Placed a pickup order and there was no one up at the front so I made eye contact with one of the waitresses who just looked at me then went back to what she was doing with no proper acknowledgment. I ended up having to flag down another waitress who was a little nicer and asked what I needed but I ended up having to wait ten minutes for my food despite placing the order 15 minutes before arriving and it was just one kids meal! Never returning to this location

On Tuesday July 23 at 12:10PM, I waited with my wife for over 45 minutes for no service. No water or menus. 2 waitresses and 1 cook. 3 other customers. Not busy. We decided to leave. The 2 Hispanic waitress's, when we decided to leave, said very sarcastically, have a nice day. I feel sorry for the Owner. They are recking his business.

First of all we arrive and it took the waitress about 15 minutes to ask us for our drinks. As food arrives I ask for ketchup and guess what, ketchup never arrived. We ordered three regular priced meals and two from the kid’s menu, as they don’t eat much and plus kids eat free from 4pm-8pm.. well as we get ready to pay lucky me we were charged for everything even our kids dishes and drinks. I asked the waitress and she said that doesn’t apply on the time I paid because it’s past the hour where kids eat free. I was very disappointed with the service here today and to top it all of our waitress was talking like she was upset with someone.

Long wait, no greeting, the server assumed we didn’t speak English although most of our party spoke primarily English (thank you Mexican roots lol). Receipt said we were served by Laura who had an attitude when confronted about a hair in one of the plates. She said she could split our check yet we got one receipt despite ordering at separate times. We could tell we were being talked about by the rest of the servers as they kept looking at us and laughing. The only upside was the friendly lead server that was genuinely open to the feedback. Open to providing more feedback if they even care.

Waitress threw food on table and yelled at my associate for saying, "There has been food sitting in the window for 10 minutes. Is that my order?" Told him, "If you have a problem call corporate and don't come back you won't be served next time."

We walked into the restaurant at 10:25, waited to be acknowledged and seated. We walked out at 10:35. No customer service, no acknowledgement, and no greeting. Another couple who walked in with us also left before us. If the door service is like this, I couldn't imagine the food service.

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Pablo the "Crew supervisor" should absolutely not work in the service industry or probably anywhere for that matter until he receives some proper training. It took over 30 minutes to get our food and it was cold. On top of that I was served a regular Cheeseburger when I ordered a Cowboy BBQ Burger which is more expensive and has more toppings. I said ok no problem just charge me for a regular burger instead. Upon trying to pay for the meal I was still being charged for the more expensive burger I never received. Pablo proceeded to tell me "Well that's what you ordered and why are you fighting with me over two dollars" He then continued to tell me he knows what burger I got and I was lying about it and I needed to pay for the more expensive burger. Even after admitting they had no onion rings which is supposed to be on the Cowboy BBQ Burger. The whole time he is smiling and laughing saying to me "why you fighting over two dollars" Absolutely horrible experience and it's a shame someone would treat a customer that way especially one claiming to be a supervisor. IHOP clearly needs to improve their training methods and reevaluate who they hire.

Horrible customer service, walked out after being seated by bald waiter w curly hair on back of his head, he did not want do his job, I sat down feeling shocked of how I was “greeted” (I wasn’t) and when I turn around he’s sitting down scarfing his face, I understand if you’re understaffed, COMMUNICATE THAT with your customers, so we know you’re overwhelmed and it might take a while to complete YOUR job. I understand misery loves company, but please treat others how you’d like to be treated.

Brought my family (0f 6) in for breakfast but were completely ignored. We sat in the waiting area over 15 min waiting to be at least acknowledged or be seated but were not even acknowledged by any of the workers (mind you we were the only ones waiting). Then a couple walks in and the hostess walks right up to them and gives them a table. I then proceed to stand right in front of the podium and every waitress/waiter including hostess again continue to ignore us walking back and fourth past us. The restaurant was not busy at all there was many tables available it was obvious they choose not to help us. We are from out of state and were driving through and it seems like we were being discriminated for whatever reason. I’ve worked in the customer service field for over 20 years and I have NEVER had to walk out of a restaurant or place for SERVE REFUSAL. Customer perception is huge in the food and retail industry and this location might want to start considering this on a day to day basis!

Edit #2: I got a generic response saying that I should go to their link and franchisee will follow up. So, I went to the link, filled out their quick survey and haven't heard from them since then. It's been a week. I looked over some of the other recent negative reviews and most of them mention oily nasty food. The response from IHOP is the same as to my review -- a generic copy-paste. It's a shame... the first couple of visits were awesome and something clearly has gone wrong with this location. Edit #1: Our family's first two visits were great. You can see my old review below. However, after two more visits, I can no longer recommend this place. During our third visit, we waited a very long time to be sat down, even though it was not busy, lots of tables were empty and staff were just sitting and chatting at a few corner tables. Maybe they had a staff meeting... not sure. It took a long time to get our food and my burger tasted very stale and everyone's food was very greasy. We were out of drinks halfway through our meals and our waiter never came by to check up on us during our dining session. On our fourth visit, the place was not busy either and we sat down pretty quickly. However, it took about 15 minutes for anyone to come by to take our order. It took about 40 minutes to get our food. Everyone's food was so gross and greasy that most of us couldn't even finish it. I felt very sick afterwards from all the grease. My daughter couldn't even finish half of her pancakes because grease or oil was sipping out of them. When I went to the bathroom, I observed two of the employees do their business and then walk out without washing their hands. Disgusting. Lastly, the place was absolutely filthy, with food all over the floor. Before we sat down, I had to brush off food from my chair and table. Old review: Very good food. Lots of selection and tastes great. I've been here with my family for lunch and dinner, so far, and both times were great. Service is pretty decent -- wait times are not long and they're attentive.

I ordered the sirloin steak tips with hash browns and eggs.i also got the appetizer sampler.The appetizers were over cooked.The oil needs to be changed as the food looked brown and oily.The sirloin tips had a sweet taste nasty taste to it.Maybe if it didn't have that sweet taste maybe it would be good.I had to wait for a refill of my drink even though I placed my empty cup at the end of the table to let them know I needed another drink.The waitress just kept walking past my table and didn't ask if I needed anything or asked if I was ok with my order.I spent 21 on just my main course and 16 for the appetizer my drink was 5.My total was 45 and felt it was a big disappointment.

Horrible experience. Short staffed...it took literally 10 minutes to get our drinks ordered then another 10 minutes before someone came to get our order...then I was told I couldn’t get a salad with ranch as a side...not even to pay for it. Then after finally receiving our food this was my husbands omelette!! Wow..$13 for this...what a horrible experience. Won’t be returning to this IHOP ever again! However the waiter did apologize for all the mistakes.
