The food here was delicious! We got the Thai iced tea, rolls, and pad thai/pad see ew. They actually made the Thai tea in front of us, and fresh brewed the tea and added milk, which I’ve never seen before. The service was also amazing and our waitress was super attentive and friendly. I would definitely come here again!
My favorite Thai restaurant in the area by a mile, this place is a must-visit. The menu is varied, every dish I have ever tasted is delicious, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is spot-on. I continually come back to the Cashew Nut with Chicken dish and the Chicken Sate, but the Mongolian Beef is also always perfect. The desserts appear authentic as well; I never order desserts out other than here.
We came for dinner after a long Monday of appointments. My husband and I had the appetizer platter - several foods to sample. Delicious. After, I ate the garlic beef with vegetables and every bite was loaded with flavor. Hubby also had a beef dinner he said was delicious. Quick seating and service. Lovely evening with my man. Was a bit curious after I read other reviews and glad we chose Cham (it was right at the hotel) as the food had great flavor.
Great authentic Thai food and so delicious. The staff is so friendly and creates the most welcoming atmosphere. The menu is huge with a ton of options from various regions around Thailand. I'm planning on going back a couple times a month to work my way through the menu and try as many dishes as I can. The food is great value too, prices are good, and I left with a to go box for lunch curry tomorrow.
This place so cozy and foods are delicious. Ice Thai tea is so good and little bit sugary. I said because i thinking, I ordered a drink to go with my meal. This tea does not match salty food. But this item best of beverages. One of the best Asian restaurants in the area.
Ohhh lawwwwd Jesus! Well first of all before I begin I’ll have a moment for you guys to compliment my pictures, thank you. But anyways, for me, before going into a Thai restaurant, it have to pass the picture test, and this place does just that. If it doesn’t look good then i don’t want it. This place have your popular Thai food that no other Thai places usually offer, like the crispy pork with gravy which is also well known in Thailand, of course it does have your pad Thai (like it ain’t a Thai place if there’s no pad Thai gorl!). This is not my first time here, but it keeps me coming back to it, unlike yall exes. The fried rice was gooood, definitely the best around here, it is really giving Thailand yall. Go try it, yall don’t want to miss it!! Slaaay mama!
Wow! Best Thai food I've had!! They have such a unique and well rounded menu without feeling extremely overwhelming. I ordered the Plah Tofu and it was very fresh, flavorful, and delicious, with plenty of herbs and lime flavor. Very good on rice 😊 the spicy bamboo shoots are delicious too! The pictures do not capture the experience!! Also, the restaurant has amazing waitstaff who were all extremely attentive
Love love this place. The foods very delicious and authentic Thai food so far in the area. With the new owners has more new menu of thai food that’s couldn’t find in other Thai restaurants around here RTP area. The restaurant is nice and clean. The servers are very nice and beautiful .😍 5⭐️ for me and my friends. We will be back for other good menu list that we already crave for. VERY RECOMMEND 👍🏻
I am a person who like to seeking food, came across this thai restaurant. Shocked that the food cheaper than I've ever eaten. When the food came I was shocked again. They give a lot of food, so surprise why do people give 1 star even though the price is not expensive plus the taste is quite delicious and waitress very friendly. If anyone hasn't tried it yet I recommend this place.
A taste of home!!! I am a native Thai, so glad we found this restaurant. We had spicy crispy tofu for a starter. So good, crunchy and flavorful! Don't have a photo to share because we polished it off so quickly. Creamy tom yam noodle had a nice bright flavor. Khao soi was delish!! Nice aroma of authentic spices of northern Thailand. Daughter had rahd na mee krop -- crunchy noodle & seafood. Definitely a dish to share-- a very generous portion. Delicious and fresh. The dessert was very nice -- a good way to cap off a meal. All dishes came beautifully presented. So many dishes on the menu we want to come back to try. The staff were nice and friendly. They put their hearts into their creation. We definitely will come back!!
Staff was very friendly and attentive, food was great! Will definitely come back! Me and a friend hit this place for lunch, elected to start with their tofu offering with a sweet and spicy sauce. This was unbelievable, worth coming back for by itself!!! Crispy outside, enough to crunch with a bite. Gooey inside. Sweet and spicy sauce all over. Absolute sensory overload, awesome! He got the soup, I got the salad. Your typical Asian starters, and both were great. I really enjoyed the abundance of ginger in the salad. Our meals were great! We will come back and try different things. Everything was cooked perfectly, it's very apparent the kitchen crew is passionate about what they send out. Even down to the plating, amazing! Only knocked the atmosphere since there were still Christmas decorations up. Also they apparently use the town tap water for everything, even the Thai tea my friend ordered was overwhelming with the tap water taste. We both had water with our lunch, which also was very apparent the town was midst treating their water......as it tasted like chemicals. Small knocks though, this place is legit!
3.7 We really liked the food here! The yellow curry (we got it spicy) was absolutely delicious. I’m craving it as I write this review. We also ordered pad see yew and drunken noodles which were pretty good. We did not enjoy the Kung pao chicken at all so definitely skip this when ordering. For desert we got mango and sticky rice which is literally rice with mangos 😂 Overall average service and nice ambience. Cute place for lunch!
I usually love going here, but I was disappointed with the lack of spice and flavor of my Thai curry... I am pretty sure there wasn't even salt.. The chicken was pure chicken taste, no seasoning.. I think the servers are very kind and sweet but toward the end I felt like we were randomly rushed out and we were 2 hrs before close by then still with many still in the restaurant and not one server helping us, as they all work together so we were not holding someone from ending their shift.. Overall.. just really wish there was actual flavor. If I am getting Thai food, I am getting it for the rich flavors and spices. Many Americans do want this judging by reviews and I think that menus should not be watered down for people who don't appreciate it, unless they request.
I don't usually spend time from my life to leave reviews that are not positive. But it would be irresponsible for me not to say something publicly about our experience at Cham Thai in Carrboro. I don't know WHAT day the beef I was served was cooked, but it wasn't TOday. I ordered Mongolian Beef "hot" - there wasn't even an attempt, a two on a ten scale. It wasn't as tough as shoe leather, but it wasn't far behind. They did serve a lot of it, tho, and my little dog was well pleased. Not so my dining partner, who ordered BBQ pig belly. Barbeque is a means of cooking, not just a color. There is no way what they were served had ever been near fire. And again, so tough, so hard to chew. I don't know, maybe the word "Cham" means "tough" in Thai. It was served with a really beautiful presentation, a lil flower on top. Too bad there wasn't any flavor on the inside. Now, let's talk service. Number one: some tables at Cham Thai get a fresh carafe of water, some do not. If you are at a table sans carafe, you will literally have to raise your voice in order to get water. No one will ever come to the table and just see how you're doing. Don't bother asking for chopsticks, just use the flatware on the table. You'll be happier. A fellow diner told us about the place a few months back, with just glowing reviews of the food. I don't know what has happened since then, but what we were served today was underwhelming to say the least. There was absolutely nothing exceptional about anything we were served. There's nothing I could say back to the person who recommended Cham Thai, other than "the restrooms were clean." The entire time we were there, we and another table were the only diners inside, while there were young people at three tables outside. Pick up of take out orders was near constant. I hope the other diners had a better experience than we did. Best of luck Cham Thai, try to do better.
The best thing about this restaurant is how close it is located to Thai Station (Car Mill Plaza) across the street. I assure you, this will save you from major disappointment and discover what a decent (Not super authentic I’m afraid) Thai cuisine should taste like. Try their pine apple fried rice- kids love it. It comes inside of freshly cut pine apple. Now back to this joint- Food, particularly the beef noodle dish I ate, is indistinguishable from eating cardboard. I’ll stop there… The hostess seemed disinterested when I tried to order my take out. Atmosphere was ok, nothing to comment on there. Seriously- try Thai Statiin in Car Mill plaza across the street before you depart with your $20 at this place. I had to throw away my beef- no flavor, dry, and the size of a Great Dane’s ears. See for yourself. Wife had eggplant dish and they were also massive.
