1st time here. experiences like this are the reason I LOVE to write reviews. The parking lot coming in was clean & looked solid. Walking in the place is actually a lot bigger than I expected which will be great for medium to large sized events/parties/gatherings. I walked up & spoke to the young lady named Gianna. She was extremely nice, friendly, knowledgeable about the menu & gave me a warm welcome. Not one of those Kirby & insincere/fake greetings but you could just tell she was genuinely happy & not miserable which is a factor in my reviews. The menu is large which is great because nobody wants a few items to pic from. Ordering was quick, easy & painless. Afterwards, I was given the option to get an email receipt which is always a plus to me, way easier than lugging around extra paper as well as being more green friendly. Ran to the restroom & was very happy to see that it was very clean & a good size. Not one of those tiny restrooms which was great. I waited including quickly running to the restroom maybe 10 minutes. She brought the food to me, which I felt bad because I don't want anyone going out of their way for me but she insisted lol. I ordered the Great Greek Gyro with Gryo meat (which is lamb) with French fries. The food was hot, fresh & excellent quality. The meat was juicy, tender, flavorful & seasoned well. The vegetables were fresh, crisp & juicy. The Tzatziki sauce was seasoned great, creamy & overall very flavorful. The fries were just the way I like them. Both in thickness, the slight orange tint of a crispy fry on the outside but soft on the inside. I grabbed a Powerade mixed with lemonade to drink. The decorations inside were nice, the tables inside & outside were clean. The floors were clean & I could tell they were polished as well. The outside tables were clean & looked great, not beat up or worn down. The windows were clean & gave a lot of natural light which was very nice. Overall? This place was awesome 💯 solid all the way around. If I had to nitpick; The price of the food is a little higher than I like personally but at $19.46 with tax out the door for 1 person, but it was for sure worth it. So if you came here on a date night plan to spend $45 for 2 meals with fries & drinks. If you're grabbing a desert & entree the plan to spend $70-$80 with a tip. I'd also like to see more drink options, the drinks offered weren't too may but I'd love to see some fresh natural juices like apple/watermelon with mint/mango with pineapple etc. 5 out of 5 place to come to. I'll be definitely coming back with friends & family. I'm also coming back for that ice cream too 😏 which I didn't get to try but for sure next time.
Fantastic food. Excellent experience! Best fries!!
We have eaten here many times, and it's always great. The vegetables are always super fresh, and the proteins are cooked on point. Very flavorful and healthy. The restaurant is clean and the staff attentive.
This time we used DoorDash our food arrived hot and timely. It was a large order, nothing was missed. The food was good, non greasy, and flavorful. I’ve eaten at the restaurant which was clean. The staff is polite and friendly. We’ll be ordering from here again.
I love having lunch here. The Gyro and Souvlaki plates are especially good. I would also recommend trying the Baklava Ice Cream. I'm usually not a big fan of Baklava; however, the combination was very delicious, to my surprise! For restaurant management: Could you please put more trash bins so that customers could clean after themselves.
This is our favorite place to eat in cedar park. It’s quick, but the food doesn’t taste fast. The steak plate is delicious for those days when you need some steak but don’t have time for a steakhouse. The French fries are perfection. The salads are crisp and refreshing. They have chicken and pizza options on the kids menu.
Absolutely delicious! I was hesitant about getting the watermelon salad. Every ingredient was so fresh from the watermelon, mint, feta, to the cucumber. Highly recommend and definitely plan on getting again. I hope it doesn’t go away too soon because it is seasonal. The gyro was also good, I just didn’t get a picture. It took 2 hands to hold it was so big. Very satisfied and I feel good because it was clean and healthy. I also loved being able to order online and drive thru to pick it up without getting out of the car. I’ll be back
It's a very simple no fuss place but the food is great! The flavors are wonderful and balanced without too much salt or vinegar in dips and dressings. We enjoyed everything we ordered! The pita breads are fluffy and soft, the meat is juicy, the shrimps are big and full of flavor! Oh and the fries were sooooo good! Have to go back soon to try the desserts!
So happy to find this place as I was starting to give up on finding a great gyro locally. One thing you can always count on with great Greek restaurants is gyros and amazing fries and this place does not disappoint. Right at the corner of Ronald Regan and Whitestone, tucked behind the specs. This was only my first time so I will be headed back to try other items. Highly recommend, 5 out of 5. Very clean, friendly service, and not too busy at lunchtime. Thank you!
It's my first visit here. I like to try Mediterranean food, So I ordered for Solvaki plate which is good but the meat of lamb need to cooked little bit more and the chicken is well cooked but the flavours i didn't feel in chicken but the lamb taste is good!! Overall it is a great experience can visit again
I Love this place. I love Greek food and not a lot of places can surprise me. I had a plate with chicken and lamb kabobs, pilaf rice and Salad were delicious. We also had the loaded fries and Gyro 😋 and we finished that up with Baklava ice cream. I wish I lived in Austin to eat here all the time 🥰🥰🥰 it was pricey but worth it!
We stopped by The Great Greek for Yelp Elite Week for lunch this week. You never really know what to expect when you try a franchise chain restaurant. We were very pleased with our experience at The Great Greek! It's an "order at the counter, and they bring you your food" kind of place, which is fine. We did have a few issues ordering and getting food, as the person at the register took a while to figure out how to comp the Yelp portion of the tab. We also had an issue with the food being brought to the table, as one salad was delivered to the wrong couple, who ate the salad not knowing there was a mistake (both couples ordered Greek salads, one a small Greek, the other a Greek side salad). The food itself was great! The aforementioned Greek salads were delicious, dressing on the side, accompanied by fresh pita bread. Generous portions of all ingredients, super fresh, and served cold, as a salad should be. The steak gyro with a side of lemon potatoes rocked! Beef cooked perfectly medium rare, and the gyro was stuffed full. The lemon potatoes were served HOT and were delicious. All at the table loved them. A lamb plate was also quite tasty, and the rice on the side was on point! The baklava ice cream was amazing. It had the consistency of a thick pudding and tasted like great baklava folded into a very nice vanilla ice cream. We would go back just to have the ice cream. A thought or two about the operation of the restaurant... and these are observations, not criticisms. The Great Greek has only been open a few months, so they're still working things out... The cash register and food delivery issues noted above were a bit annoying, especially since we were the only customers in the place at 3:30pm. But those issues are easily fixed. One other issue that was more of a problem in our view was the lack of clearing dirty dishes off of the table. Employees walked by, cleaning other tables and chairs, even stopping to chat for a couple of minutes once, while a mountain of dishes grew in the middle of our table. Two separate times a member of our party had to bring stacks of dirty dishes back to the counter. Again, and easy fix, just a training issue for management. All in all, we had a good, quality meal. The food was very good. We'll be back to try other things on the menu. Recommend The Great Greek!
Ordered through Uber Eats so not sure if that’s why our food just wasn’t as great as I thought it’d be. Arrived cold (even though we’re 10 mins away. I got the steak gyro and the pita was delicious and soft, the veggies fresh and crisp but that’s about it. The steak didn’t have any flavor, and the tzatziki feta mix was lacking flavor as well. Everything just felt like it was as missing something. The falafel was also lacking spice, tang, craziness. Their fries are delicious even though they were cold. Perfect amount of salt and crispy. Overall I don’t think the price is worth the value and I probably wouldn’t order from here again since it was just fine.
Ordered the Great Greek Gyro with chicken and the hummus appetizer. I always use hummus and pita as indicators on how good the restaurant is. Hummus- Smooth and thick, basic hummus (no garlic) light flavor. Pita- Looked like it was mass produced and grilled to order. Fluffy but otherwise tasteless and chewy, served its purpose as bread. I’ve had better pita. Gyro- Fresh crisp vegetables, large chunks of tender chicken, tzatziki was flavorless, feta provided most of the flavor, again pita just holding the whole thing together. Overall- just average, satisfies the craving, good bang for your buck meal, quick service.
I ordered the chicken on skewers and they lacked flavor. Tasted like the grilled it with only salt and pepper. The rice tasted like the 5 min boil and a bag rice from HEB. My husband had the gyro and was not too impressed by it. **Update after one week: I have been sick since eating here. Today is the first day after 7 days I am feeling better. It felt like I had food poisoning (nausea and extremely bad stomach pains which lasted a week)! We will not order from here again. Clearly the restaurant doesn’t care since the copy and posted there response from another post a couple of weeks ago.
After not eating here for several months due to a previous disappointing experience, we decided to give them another try. Unfortunately, it didn’t improve. If you’re looking for authentic Mediterranean food, this isn’t it. The ingredients tasted very low quality — honestly like most of them came from Walmart. The chicken had a strange, stringy texture that didn’t resemble real chicken at all; it was almost plasticky. The gyro meat tasted more like gyro-flavored bologna than actual gyro meat. The French fries were cold and soggy, and this was despite picking the food up right as they were finishing bagging it, so it hadn’t been sitting long. We ordered one gyro and three plates. The gyro had only about four thin slices of meat — nowhere near enough for an $18 item. The plates themselves were very basic and lacked flavor. Our total was over $80, and for that price, the quality and portions were extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, this will be our last visit.
I had eaten here before when it first opened, I wasn’t impressed, but was willing to give it another try. When I ate there a second time, I was shocked that the food quality was so low and the price was so high. I paid $25 for a lamb wrap with a very small bag of fries which was cold, mushy and contained very little meat. I could have gone to a restaurant for that price. Go to The Kebab Shop instead. It’s soooooo much better and cheaper. I won’t be going here ever again.
I’m SUPER bummed out by my experience at this location yesterday because I think it was enough to deter me from EVER coming back in the future. Which is a real shame because I liked coming here for lunch as a treat. I want to start off by saying there were two girls working whose names are Avery and Addison and they had EXCEPTIONAL customer service. They were super kind, professional, gracious, and they definitely saved the overall atmosphere of the place. This location is truly lucky to have them as part of the team. I ordered the gyro pita and the chicken pita. I find it very odd that at a MEDITERRANEAN place, they don’t put cucumber on the pitas? Very weird. I asked for 2 small sides of cucumber. We order, get settled at our table and are sitting there a good 7 minutes before I watch one of the owners (who don’t seem to make much of an effort to say a word to customers or thank customers for their purchase) make this young cashier walk over and ask me to get up from our table, come back to the register, and pay for the cucumber. But to watch the way the owners interact w their team and customers immediately put a BAD taste in my mouth. It was extremely TACKY and unprofessional for the owners to not only make this girl come over and ask me to pay for it after I already sat down, charge $2 for a few slices of cucumber when an entire cucumber isn’t even A DOLLAR, but I then watched the owner give a “talking to” to one of the younger girls working. I’ll definitely be taking my business to people who actually respect and appreciate their team, and certainly the customers that keep the lights on.
