Smooth creamy ice cream. Lots of yummy choices. The liquid nitrogen gimmick is nice to watch. Located in a nice plaza with lots of free self parking. The restaurant is clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are a few tables inside.
OMG, best place for ice cream made to order, so refreshing and very flavorful to the pallet. They have a variety of flavorful treats, I suggest ordering every flavor your heart desires, they are delightful!
Enjoyed my visit as a first timer here loved it. Immediately upon entering I was able to see the nitro shake be made. It is so neat and different. Makes trying new things interesting ! PREMIUM LIQUID NITROGEN ICE CREAM MADE FRESH TO ORDER VEGAN & NON-DAIRY OPTIONS FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE Ok so they have to options for there nitro shake whole milk / and or Vegan based milk products.
I simply have a soft spot for ice cream, overall a had a pretty good experience here. Highly customizable with a variety of different flavors, definitely a recommendation of mine
Great ice cream. Very soft and rich. My son got cotton candy with sprinkles mixed in, and I swear it tasted like animal crackers. I wouldve taken a picture but his was already half gone when I tried. Will definitely return but prices are really high.
First Time Visiting This Place. Staff Are Friendly, Everything In The Menu Looks Good. Price Is Fair. Portion Size Is Good, I Just Feel They Need To Use A Bigger Cup, That Way Ice Is Not Falling On The Sides. I Would Definitely Recommend This Place For Some Ice Cream.
Great place for the smoothest possible ice cream
Amazing ice cream... unbeatable. Went for a special treat, and was not dissappinted. Highly recommend
Delicious, many options for vegans and lactose intolerance. I really like the taro flavor.
Always a great place for some ice cream.. Yet.. Kinda pricey..
I've heard that liquid nitrogen ice cream is smoother than normal, but idk why my mind didn't really imagine what it'd be like. It's good, pricey, and not something I would do frequently, but it's worth it because it is a uniquely different experience.
the staff makes these ice creams and desserts look fancy, and to take pictures of, and they are really great. Like the Cookie monster, unicorn, s'mores, party animal -flavors are great, in a large cup is a full meal. Get the receipt- so next time get a 10% off your next purchase within 7 days. Thanks creamistry
First time eating Peruvian food, but not the last. Asked our server, Ingrid, for recommendations and she definitely hit a home run with us. We had a wonderful meal with enough food to feed an army. The food is absolutely amazing and Ingrid was kind, patient, and an amazing host. We will be back when we return to SoCal. If you are in Cerritos, do yourself a favor and earn here!
El Rocoto is a true Peruvian gem! From the moment you sit down, you’re welcomed with warm bread and their signature aji sauces (the green one is addictive). We ordered the Lomo Saltado and the Sudado de Pescado, and both dishes were bursting with flavor—the beef was tender, the fish perfectly cooked, and the sauces had just the right balance of spice and tang. The menu is extensive, featuring everything from fresh ceviches to traditional desserts like picarones. The restaurant has a casual yet cozy atmosphere, and the service is attentive without rushing you. If you’re craving authentic Peruvian comfort food, this is the spot. Definitely coming back for the ceviche sampler next time!
El Rocoto in Cerritos is our go-to spot for authentic and flavorful Peruvian cuisine. Every dish we’ve tried has been fresh, delicious, and served in generous portions, perfect for sharing or taking leftovers home. The service is exceptional—friendly, attentive, and always welcoming. During our last visit, they went above and beyond by surprising my wife with a special birthday treat, making the experience even more memorable. Their cocktails are also fantastic and pair perfectly with the meal. If you’re in the area and craving great Peruvian food, El Rocoto is a must-try. Highly recommended!
I guess we lucked out, arriving just after the lunch crowd, we were seated right away. Their food was spot on, I have been to several Peruvian restaurants & El Rocoto gets all the high marks! Cerviche Mixto was fresh with just the right amount of acidity - enough for 2 people to share. The anticucohs corazon 🫀was flavorful & tender, and their arroz con mariscos came with enough seafood 🐟🐙 with every bite. The wait staff were pleasant and checked on us several times. Highly recommend when you're in the area 👍🏻👍🏻
The food was delicious. The wait was 25 minutes. The maracuya juice was tasty and sweet. I really like it. It cost $4.50 each. But it was worth it. I got 2 just for myself. And the plates here are pertty expensive. I think 2 people can really enjoy one plate here together. I over ate just eating my own CARNE POBRE PLATE. It cost $29 dollars. The PESCADO MACHO was $29. It was good, too. If you come here I would recommend you get 1 plate for you and your friend. Share it and finish it. I took some of the leftover food home, but it was not great. My rice was too hard and not soft anymore after heating it. I feel it is a bit too much in one plate for one person. 😊 I liked it. I like that the restroom is private for one person at a time. The floor was not clean when I used it. The door for the restroom seems a bit hard to close and open. It would be nice if they could fix that.
I came back to this place last night and this is 3rd time here and im glad the taste of the food and service and the ambiance were all the same as before , all fantastic! This is my favorite peruvian restaurant. I got the arroz con maricos and carne a lo poble . The rice is so good , well seasoned and flavorful with mixed of seafood. The green sauce and orange sauce they bring from the beginning are perfect sauce to go with anything . Since it was a Saturday night , its a little bit long to way in line but it was all worth it , and i wouldn’t mind to wait if the food is great .
Simply stated, El Rocoto is a chef-owned and operated Peruvian restaurant, serving one of the most delicious expressions of this amazing country's cuisine in SoCal. Everything we ordered tasted super fresh and made with a lot of love and passion. The quality ingredients are treated with respect, and the cooking techniques involve both the age-old traditional Inca style as well as the high BTU range--providing a slight smokiness, aka "wok hei"--a product of the Southern Chinese influence in Peruvian cuisine (known as "Chifa" style). Oh those aromas are to die for! Their tiraditos, lomo saltado, tacu tacu especial, chaufa, and papa rellena tickled our taste buds with a huge array of flavors and textures, way beyond what's common in any single meal. Although I really got the impression that everything on their menu is scrumptiously delicious! Also, be sure to try one of their amazing craft cocktails as well as their housemate chicha morada! If you're already familiar with Peruvian food, then you definitely have to try this place, and if you're not, I'm telling my friend, you're missing out big time! Highly recommend!
This is a redo of experiencing dining at El Rocoto. About two years ago I had the worst encounter there, a waitress chased me and my wife out and demanded a tip that she didn’t see underneath the plates. I called the managers at all locations and no one did anything. Recently. I decided why not! Fortunately the waitress isn’t there( that I’ve seen) and the location looks even prettier than before. The food is amazing if not better. I just tried their seafood saltado and when I tell you OH MY WORD. It’s delicious! The calamari combined with clams and shrimp is so savory. The fries here aren’t drenched in oil. The rice isn’t mushy. You get what you expect. High quality food! To start they give you bread, I do think they can work on giving you a better setup for bread and butter. But other than that it’s very good and the staff is adequate.
1/31/23 : Had dicided to update my review, I was ver y pleased with my conversation with Jorge as soon as he saw this message he contact me immediatly and apoligize for the bad experience and understood my concern. I was invited to go go back to the restaurant again . Thak you Jorge for taking care of your customers and for undertanding how upset I was about the food. THANK YOU SO MUCH AND LOOKING FOWARD COMING BACK FOR SOME DELICIOUS PERUVIAN FOOD. Previous comment : Saturday 1/28/ 23 around 8:00pm I was there with my family and I have to say the food was the worse ever. I have gone to peruvian restaurants and never had a bad expereince THIS PLACE IS OVER PRICE!!!! THE FOOD IS NOT COOKED GOOD AND THE TASTE IS NOT AUTHENTIC PERUVIAN. YUCCA FRITA !!! HORRIBLE we had ordered Yucca Frita : it was way under cook, not crispy and it has hard tasted , this needs to be crispy with a little flavor this was horrible LOMO SALTADO : it had so much soy sauce that all you can taste was the that "soy sauce" no flavor, cooked bad , there was no season more less drenched in soy sauce !! MY STOMACH WAS UPSET AFTER EATING THIS . was it because we were almost the customers ? or the chef likes soy sauce that puts so much food is not good total of $155.00 bill for something we didnt like and it taste it horrible. " I want to mention the staff ,and waiter and the seating host were amazing , friendly , and good service. Nothing bad to say about the staff at this place everything here at the restauran is very attentive and friendly. ""
Cool experience to watch them make the ice cream and the flavor was delicious as well. But for the price I think it is a little too expensive, almost $10 for the smallest size. You can customize your order to whatever you like but I think it is slightly too pricey. Other than that, everything about this place was great!
Good ice cream but we can say this expensive place
Friendly staff willing to explain how to craft your perfect dessert step by step. Great variety of cream bases, flavors, and toppings. If you have little ones with you, they will enjoy the process on how the staff will prepare their treat, specially, because of the nitrogen smoke that will invades the counter top.
Unique way for ice cream handcrafted using nitrogen mix. It offers plenty of flavor, fruity as well as sweet and chocolate flavors. The taste is better than a regular ice cream.
Do you like Lomo Saltado? El Rocoto is the place. They do a Saltado 3 different ways and they all rock. The traditional with Angus Beef, one with Chicken, and Mariscos which is seafood. That seafood mix is really good with a mixture of shrimp, calamari, and even scallops on the shell. The ambiance is really nice and the servers are all hustling to get you your food and drink. Some restaurants give you the chips and salsa, el rocotto gives you fresh bread with a sauce that is so delicious #highlyRecommend
Nice restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff. Large variety of dishes nicely presented when served. Many patrons like to eat here because of the nice classy level ambiance. I found the food tasted ok but was expecting more vivid flavors. Was not a fan of the chicken with walnut sauce and potatos, very light flavor. Typical dishes are around $16-$18 with the hi the higher priced ones in there $21-$22 range.
Excited to see them make your ice cream. You can create your own combo. The taste is delicious. However, its pricey for a regular size for almost $10. Not worth it!
It is a not bad place. As seen in photos they make the products right there in front of you. It does not taste like ice cream i think it has different texture than the classic ice cream. I wanted to get large one but they said you can't choose two different flavor which is weird to me because why would someone want to have the whole large cream the same flavor. It seems like they don't do it because it's more work to do two flavors and put it in one cup but for the price paid i think it should be possible. Overall it's okay place and it's fun to see inside.
My spouse LOVES this place so it definitely has some things going for it. I like it okay but I'm not a huge fan. It's overpriced and over hypes imo. It takes forever to get your ice cream and the flavors aren't always as great as they sound. Plus they make odd choices like I ordered the Elemint creation to try something new because I love mint/chocolate combos - it's mint ice cream with chocolate chips, oreo, & fudge. I expected those things to be mixed into the ice cream. Instead they all come caked on the top and as soon as you start to eat it they start falling off so pretty soon you're left with just mint ice cream. My spouse says I could've asked them to mix the stuff in, but I don't understand why that isn't the default since it just makes more sense. Anyway, that's just one example. Their ice cream is definitely some of the smoothest creamiest ice cream you'll ever have - that's where they excel. But the flavors and toppings and price and long wait all leave a lot to be desired. I prefer DQ Blizzards or one of several ice cream flavors from my local grocery store.
Nice and friendly service. It's average peruvian cuisine. The food and drink orders came out very quickly. TV on one side of you want to drink and watch the game. The other side is quieter to have personal conversations.
Well, the restaurant looks good, the presentation and design are nice. It’s full of people. The prices are on the higher side. So when you’re paying around $30 per a dish you expect the quality level that’s just not there. We got an “ahí de gallina” and it tasted like it was heated in the microwave. Also the chicken didn’t looked pulled but rather cut in a blender. It had a taste that you get tired of after a few bites. I had a “seco with beef” and the beef was undercooked and chewy with lots of nerves. But the portions were plentiful. So you get a lot of nice looking but mediocre tasting food for almost twice as much in price compared to other Peruvian restaurants.
Compared to the Irvine location of Creamistry, this location is probably the worst in service and cleanliness. The counter is extremely filthy with spills all over the floor, serving areas, tables, chairs, bathroom and ice cream prep station. We were in the store for 25 minutes for our three ice cream orders to be fulfilled. Some people finished when they were behind me! Waffle cones were made in advance and there were only four individual ice cream makers operated by three employees. This location should be closed by the Health Department!
