Excellent cocktails at the bar. We also ordered breakfast here the following day. The berry pancakes and spinach goat cheese omelette were delicious!

Top notch from start to finish! We arrived to the sweetest valet who took our vehicle(free with a$20 spend!) and directed is on where to find the restaurant. Thomas greeted us with the utmost kindness and was a pleasure to chat with as we were guided to our table, his recommendations did not disappoint. Our server David provided excellent recommendations for food and bubbly. We began with the shrimp, oysters, and beef tartare, then the bison and lamb special for our entrees, cooked to the chefs recommended temp of course, absolutely perfect! However, we had no room for dessert, so I guess that means we will be returning to try the other options soon!

Thomas took such great care of my wife and I for an anniversary dinner! He paid attention to all the little details to make our night stand out. We loved it, the unspoken rules is an amazing drink with crispy crab cakes!

We ate here last minute -and it was the best choice! Thomas the host greeted us warmly . He had great food recommendations for us. Our server , Tiffany, was wonderful. They were short staffed and I should also mention there were 200 plus people in the bar waiting for a wedding reception to start. Our food was perfectly made-best filet we’ve tried in a while. Salmon was also great. We didn’t have to wait despite what could have been chaotic. We were so pleased-thanks to the team!!

We had a marvelous dining experience and look forward to our next one! The maitre’d and our server took genuine care and anticipated our every need and request. The food was delicious and the portions perfect. The decor and restroom facilities were lovely and comfortable.

Came with a large party for graduation and Thomas was super accommodating and got us a special room and Becca was a great server! Great food and loved the environment.

Hung out at the bar with Randy and Yoshi who provided stellar service! Great drinks and great personalities a perfect combination for chilling after a day of meetings.

My husband got the turkey club and I got JB's pancakes for brunch this morning. We were both very impressed with the servicing size of our respective meals. The pancakes were the size of the plate, fluffy and perfectly complemented by the berries on top. I barely made a dent, but I they were fantastic. U husband was a big fan of his turkey club and very much enjoyed the texture of the fries they came with. They were quite busy when we came in, but that staff was attentive despite how busy they were.

I walked in around 11 on Tuesday the 10th of February, Birch and Bloom restaurant Welcomed by Daniel Beedle, Assistant Director of Food and Beverage. My first time at the restaurant and Daniel says to me " Welcome Back" and I said " thank you and smiled, followed by this is my first time there and he said OMG Your twin was here last night. And we had a chuckle and the instant human kindness so needed in this world was immediately present. He walked me to my table, later to be joined by one of my best friends who used to live in Charlottesville for 40 years and my daughter, attended UVA. So we both had history and neither one of us had visited Birch and Bloom and wanted a better quality of food for breakfast and choose the location. Kim White was our AM server and she was a total delight so patient warm and extended above and beyond. The staff food and atmosphere was extremely 🙏 welcoming. We will be back for dinner. The bar at the Birch + Bloom (Forum Lobby) is our absolute favorite place in town. Randy— the bartender— was AWESOME. He hustled to open the bar early because the Good Sport was closed for a private event. Can’t recommend ENOUGH

The bar was a perfect place to dine. We enjoyed two evenings with Bartender Extraordinaire, Randy, and we could not have been more pleased. The food was excellent- Ribs, half chicken, crab cakes, etc... Randy was always smiling and made many recommendations. We will definitely be back! Thanks for a great experience, Randy!

Exceptional service. Wonderful food. Randy was our bartender and boy what a trip he was!! Daniel the floor manager came over to check in and left us feeling very taken care of and impressed. Will be back again for sure!

The host greeted us by name. The setting was delightful and calm. Our waiter, Randy, was knowledgeable, polite and efficient. The food was delicious and it was a perfect dinner at the end of the holidays.

Yoshi was so friendly and and attentive; she made us feel at home. She was the star of the restaurant! At the bar we enjoyed excellent hospitality thanks to Zarny and Randy. We had a wonderful experience and will return!

We were at the bar and Randy the bartender was so nice and he was so quick! He communicated with us and it was really fun! He remembered everything and he made us laugh! But every bartender was so nice! They definitely deserve five stars for everything! The drinks were amazing. They had a lot of Kid, friendly stuff.

Genuinely one of my favorite meals. Simple dishes were so experimental and delicious. The juiciest chicken, salmon was like butter, drinks were amazing and Randy was the absolute best waiter. So attentive, willing to do anything to make our experience on a snowy day perfect. Could not have asked for a better place to spend a birthday.

I had an amazing time coming back to Birch and Bloom which resides inside the beautiful Kimpton hotel in Charlottesville. The last time I stayed here was over a year ago and the food was very disappointing. I had tried multiple dishes including: breakfast, lunch, and dinner and I didn't want to order any of them again. After arriving the second time this December 2025, I have to say I'm blown away at the transformation of this establishment. The food has improved tenfold! You can't go wrong with anything from this menu. Service was also exceptional. Big thanks to both Randy and Zac. You both made it an enjoyable time sitting at the bar and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend the half chicken, the salmon, and the pork schnitzel. Great job to the management and staff for turning this restaurant back on its feet.

The cocktail bar at Birch & Bloom (inside the Forum Hotel lobby) is one of the best and most underrated in Charlottesville. The cocktails are so far above average than what you'd expect for a hotel bar. The bartenders, especially Randy if you're able to catch him, are so knowledgeable about the quality and unique nature of the cocktails and food offered. Don't miss out on the experience here!

We were on vacation and stopped into Birch and Bloom on a whim, deciding to grab dinner at the bar and we’re so glad we did. Randy was incredibly welcoming and made us feel taken care of from the moment we sat down. He recommended a wine pairing with the pork schnitzel that was absolutely perfect, and then suggested an after-dinner cocktail called the Gran Tradition that ended the night on a high note. The food, drinks, and service made this one of our favorite meals of the trip. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

Went here for brunch this past Christmas. While the ambiance is nice, the food is a tad bit pricey. I ordered the pancakes, eggs, and chicken sausage. Everything was priced separately, which made it very expensive. The pancakes tasted nice, though, and the server was kind.

This restaurant is located on UV campus in the Forum Hotel. We came on a Sunday for brunch and they were a bit short staffed. But it was clean and nicely lit. The biggest looked really great but we decided to opt for omelettes off the menu. They were delayed in providing coffee and the manager came to apologize for delays. There were no spoons provided despite several requests. The setting was nice on couch booths. Once the food arrived we were very pleased. The price was moderate for incredibly delicious omelettes with fresh vegetables. The fruit was fresh and everything including pancakes were delicious.

Great atmosphere! The restaurant is open to the guest lobby for the hotel though so factor that into your decision. Our waiter was very kind. My husband's chicken was a little bit burnt around the edges and my cauliflower steak was well seasoned, but cold. They have excellent mocktails for all of my alcohol-free/ pregnant friends! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Bourbon Bloom cocktail. I've included a picture of the mocktail with my review. I would go back simply for the ricotta appetizer and drinks alone.

Looking for a fancy night out? Check out @birchandbloomcville located in the @theforumhotelcville . It was our first time here and it did not disappoint! We both got hanger steaks, one steak frites and one with a side of pommes puree. The fries were crisp and battered and the pommes puree was buttery and smooth. I could eat a whole pot. Both of our steaks were beautifully cooked and tender. Our server was David and he was very helpful. The maître ď, Thomas, was fantastic and so welcoming. By the way, the parking is valet only but if you are local, they will validate your parking AKA its free. 🥰❗❗ Birch and Bloom also has brunch and breakfast but the menu looks similar to a lot of other places in town. Give it a chance, but keep this place in mind for a romantic dinner

Had the house made bread, jumbo shrimp, beef tartare and the 8oz hanger steak with truffle fries. Apps were a great start. Steak was a bit over cooked, fires were ok. All in all, a solid 7.5 out of 10. Dessert options were not to my liking so we passed on dessert. Cool atmosphere and server was friendly, well trained, and did a solid job.

The gem salad and carrot salad were excellent starters and the Vegan Vorbet and Pot Au Creme were a excellent way to start and finish the meal. The justification for a 4/5 rather than 5/5 would be the main course. The $72 New York strip is significantly overpriced for the quality. It could be an anomaly, but the Chef should do a review of the beef supplier.

We celebrated my daughter's recent nuptials with dinner at Birch + Bloom this past Saturday. I want to truly commend the Valet staff for making us feel welcomed. Everyone of them showed exemplary customer service as we arrived and upon our departure. We had a big party so we were seated in the private dining room, which was beautiful. The host was very nice, as was our server, who showed our entire party her utmost patience. Speaking only to my order: the French 75 and the St. Louis Ribs were good. The Crab Cake was cold, and only one side was browned. Being from the DMV, where we love a good crab cake, I was disappointed. The Steak Frites...well...the fries and horseradish salsa verde were good! The steak...not good at all. I also ordered the Fried Brussels Sprouts. I didn't like the lemon dressing at all. In my opinion, it ruined the dish. They had so much of it smothered on top of the Brussels Sprouts.😫 They would've been better without it. Other orders: two of my daughter's ordered the Stringozzi Duck Ragú and they really liked it. My mother had the Chicken-Fried Monkfish. I tasted it and thought it was just ok, but needed some salt. Many other things were ordered throughout the party, and the general consensus from everyone was that the food was just ok. A return visit is questionable, just based on the food. If I were basing it on the staff, it would be an immediate yes!

Subpar experience. Server was inattentive and aloof. Food was average - pasta was undercooked, too salty, and lamb ragu was more chewy than soft. Appetizer skimpy, 4 pieces of hard bread with a scoop of ricotta cheese. Overall, disappointing.

Expensive and oh so mediocre. Our server however was great & wishing I remembered his name. Nice bar area but the dining area was typical of a bustling hotel, not a quaint experience atmosphere wise and the food was not up to any hype I had read on-line. It really was just typical hotel food with the exception of my husbands steak which was excellent and cooked "blue" to his liking.

We were at Birch and Bloom for a business dinner, recently. The staff was incredibly accommodating and the service was fantastic. Walking into the space, it’s really stellar. Unfortunately, our group felt the food was unimpressive. I started with crab cakes that left much to be desired. We’re in VA, for crying out loud. My wife said her salad was good, especially noting the dressing. We both had steak, which was just ok. Dessert was just ok as well. All in all, the kitchen is the weak spot in this restaurant. The space has the wow factor. The front of the house has the service. The kitchen fails to live up to the high expectations set. It’s a case of over promising and under delivering. We would be willing to go back, but will expect a better culinary experience.

Was really disappointed in the so-called overpriced pastrami hash. Literally 12 little pieces of fried out meat, giant hunks of potato and totally overdone hard poached eggs. Server was slow and so soft cooked we had to ask her to repeat everything. Won’t go back.

Did not have a great experience here. Don’t get the shakshuka. The eggs were overcooked and the cast iron pan was stuck to the egg. The service was not good either. She was not attentive and forgot to put in some of our order and we had to remind. The only saving grace was the sticky bun (from Marie Bette). I would not go back here.

My friend and I dined here in May this summer and the food was amazing! 2 months later, we came back and the menu had completely changed. They removed their brussel sprouts and the quality of the food was horrible. We talked to the hostess, and he said there was a new chef. I hate to see this new hotel restaurant lose business because their quality of food and menu has changed so much. Please bring back the old menu!!! Nobody wants to pay $80 for dinner with low quality.

We have been here for dinner and have had a great experience but today we went for breakfast and was surprisingly disappointed. Our food took a VERY long time to get which made it cold. Our server didnt want to spend any time with our table, couldnt even get her to take our payment until the manage walked by. Guess we'll have to check this one off our list!

Wow- shocked at the positive reviews here. My food was quite frankly inedible. I have never been to a restaurant where i literally didn’t eat more than 1-2 small bites. I got the salmon and everything about it and the sides were not good. Service also very slow.

Been here for dinner and it was phenomenal- a total 5 star experience. HOWEVER, when we came back for a birthday brunch, it was a terrible experience. The food was mediocre but the worst part was the service. Our server Angelique left our plates under the warmers for what felt like a half hour at least. It took so long to get our food that when it wasn't as anticipated, it wasn't worth asking to fix. She continually left us waiting- she wouldn't even bring our check so we could leave until her manager walked by. If we ever go back and she's our server, our party (usually 6 of us) will get up and leave.

I went here on Valentine’s day and had high hopes because of the great ambiance and expensive prices. Unfortunately the food was awful. My boyfriend’s steak came lukewarm and was maybe 4 ounces of meat at most. My pasta was bland and did not taste good at all. For the money we paid I definitely would not recommend this place.

Had a reservation for 7:15. My party ordered around 7:30. We received our entrees around 9:05. The quality of them were not good- 5 of us ordered medium rare steaks; however they were all cooked differently. One was extremely rare and another cooked past well done. The picture is from two different “medium rare” steaks. Tldr: Long wait, questionable food, I do not recommend coming here. Our waitress Kristine was awesome though, thank you Kristine 👍

Ordered an olive oil cake from Birch and Bloom while staying at the Kimpton hotel. They insisted to bring it to our room even though we ordered in person. Well the cake was $8 and when they brought it to my room — they charged me another $8 for delivery. $8 to take the elevator up to the 5th floor is absurd! What’s even more disheartening is the cake I received. Presentation was a let down. There were no peaches. It’s literally corn bread dipped in heavy oil over a creme. Took one bite and it was disgusting. I couldn’t even eat it. All that money wasted. I can’t believe they would even serve this on their menu! This was so disappointing. If I could give negative stars I totally would. I would not recommend this place.

I attended a private event here recently. We were rudely addressed by the valet, after we were told it was mandatory to use their services by the host. We parked elsewhere. The floral arrangements for the event were not placed as ordered. The food was mediocre and the staff seemed overwhelmed (not their fault as management perhaps took on too much business during a busy time). Those who did use valet waited about 30 minutes to get a vehicle. I saw staff sprinting down the street to get cars returned which is not fair to them. Kimpton let us down.
