THANK YOU immensely to the staff at Boqueria. Specifically Manny and Fernando for making a rare night out an extremely special evening for my partner and I. Food was so delectable that most items didnt even get time for a photo. Originally we came to try out the restaurant week menu but upon learning of their original house chef driven full “boqueria experience” we went that route and were extremely impressed. Loved every dish we were given and had to try more! We tried each croqueta (wonderful texture and yummy sauces to go with), the ensalada vasca (bright pairing with the sides), the boquerones con naranja, patatas bravas (delectable and everything you could ask of a potato and wish i could eat 100), pintxos morunos (my partner and I decided it was the best lamb we’ve had in awhile. melts in mouth and zero gamey texture or taste), pulpo a la plancha (extremely balanced with beautiful presentation and fun textures with the potato- just needs some work with preparation to perfect the octopus), and the paella de mariscos which has with the rice: monkfish, squid, shrimp clams and mussels. The paella was an extreme highlight. Paired our meal with a ‘23 albariño ferreiro from an extremely awesome wine list and it was delicious with everything but especially the paella. Somehow the salsa was distinctly sweet smokey and spicy, rice was perfect texture and what you expect paella to give and each seafood item was cooked perfectly. Absolutely delicious. Finally we finished off with the crema catalana which was smooth and sweet. Sadly the zest when fired did taste really bitter for me personally but the technique is there. Funnest part of the meal was learning about the pigs they age and the background of the animal and region. We were able to try the old fashioned that they fat wash the spirit using the pigs they use in service. Absolutely mind blowing and delicious. We couldnt have asked for a better evening and hospitality.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 I absolutely loved my experience at Boqueria in the West Loop. Everything about the food made me feel like I was back in Barcelona. We tried so many dishes the paella, pan con tomate, carrots, shrimps, octopus, churros, and more and every single one was outstanding. Each bite was full of authentic Spanish flavor and perfectly prepared. Our server Maya was amazing. She was warm, attentive, and made the whole evening even better. The service overall was top-notch, and the atmosphere had that lively, cozy energy you find in real tapas bars in Spain. If I had to note one thing, the drinks were the only part that didn’t completely win me over. I tried both the sangria and the tinto de verano, and while they were fine, they didn’t quite match the level of the food. Still, this place is a solid 10 out of 10 for the food, service, and vibe. I can’t wait to go back it’s the closest I’ve felt to being in Barcelona without getting on a plane.
One of my favorite spots for happy hour. Amazing food and drink options. The bikini is a must try! I feel like this spot is heavily slept on. Always great service, bar or table.
Was craving seafood after work and decided to give it a try. Glad I did! At first we tried the croquetas de jamón which were sooo tasty! Decided to go for the seafood paella as entree and it was amazing too, I’d say is for 2/3 people! Our waitress Alejandra was super attentive as well as their manager Zack. Thank you!!
Have been to this place thrice First time, we showed up without reservation. there was some waiting and we had to take a seat outside but weather was good and experience was good overall We ordered the classic from chef menu Food 5/5 Service 5/5 server forgot one of the dish but chef was apologetic about it and offered extra dish we didn’t mind either way Second time we went with a reservation and had indoor seat. We ordered the Boqueria experience from chef menu Generous portion size and tasty Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Third time was a brunch date Brunch menu was okay wasn’t as good as dinner, def better options around for brunch but not bad for a date Food 3/5 Service 4/5
Spetecular new place with top notch tapas. An awesome addition to Fullerton mkt offerings. Service was awesome .The manager was very accomodating of our party of 8 with our preferance of seating.( They mostly have bar chairs). Their mushroom croquettes were out of this world good. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.👍👍( forgot about taking pics )
Jose was an excellent server. Very personable, gave recommendations, and made accommodations for me. I don’t drink alcohol and he suggested an off the menu option (margarita - tequila) and it was perfect.
Boqueria in Chicago/Fulton Market is fantastic. We visited during happy hour and loved the vibe. The dirty martini and espresso martinis were the best we have had. The atmosphere is cool and lively, and the servers were very attentive. Our favorite dishes were the Gambas al Ajillo with shrimp, garlic, brandy, lobster reduction, and peppers in olive oil, and the Brussels sprouts with Jamón Ibérico vinaigrette, golden raisins, and dried cranberries. Both were outstanding and packed with flavor. We will definitely be back.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience in the heart of Fulton Market, look no further than Boqueria. I recently had the pleasure of trying their Chef’s Tasting Menu, and from start to finish, it was nothing short of phenomenal. From the moment we walked in when it was pouring outside, we were greeted warmly by Giovanni, who set the tone for the evening with his welcoming energy and expert knowledge of the menu. His passion for hospitality was evident—he guided us through each course with thoughtful descriptions, perfect drink pairings, and just the right amount of charm. Now, onto the food: the Chef’s Tasting Menu is an absolute must. Every dish told a story, balancing bold Spanish flavors with inventive modern twists. The selection of tapas was perfectly curated—think melt-in-your-mouth jamón ibérico, blistered shishito peppers, and a standout pulpo a la plancha (grilled octopus) that was tender and rich with smoky depth. The star of the evening had to be the paella, brought out with dramatic flair. The saffron aroma hit first, followed by layers of perfectly cooked bomba rice, fresh shellfish, and that magical socarrat at the bottom of the pan that every paella lover dreams of. Dessert was equally impressive—an airy churro with dark chocolate dipping sauce that ended the night on a high note. What made the experience exceptional, beyond the food, was Giovanni’s attention to detail. He anticipated our needs, explained each dish with genuine excitement, and made us feel like VIPs throughout the night. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just in the mood for a memorable meal, Boqueria Fulton Market delivers. Ask for Giovanni and go for the Chef’s Tasting Menu—you won’t regret it.
Alejandro and management did a wonderful job with the chef's menu , service and drinks. We were promptly seated and pampered rhe whole lunch. Great experience as last time. We had tortilla española, croquetas de setas, jamon, manchego cheese, pan de cristal and jamón de bellota, peladitas potatoes, etc. Highly recommended.
food: got the boqueria experience and pitcher of sangria, I enjoyed every dish that got included in our experience (the steak was a bit tough), the experience is great though and you get 6ish tapas which is a lot of food + a small paella and churros for dessert. Standouts for me are the Iberico Ham and patatas. Definitely worth coming back and trying some other tapas service: server was very friendly and helpful, and made sure to check on dietary restrictions ambiance: great vibe, gets loud when it’s busy but honestly quieted down a lot as the night went on and people left from happy hours
Loud but vibrant atmosphere. The food is amazing and very flavorful. The patatas bravas and the bikini (last picture) were delicious and they are now my favorites. I have returned 3 times since my husband brought me his leftovers! The albondigas (1st picture)and the mini hamburguesas were delectable. The Forget me Not NA beverage was just okay. Not much flavor. Maybe the ginger beer was flat and the lime was not in season. However, the waiter did ask if I did not like it and if I wanted something else because I was very slow at drinking it. The tarta de naranja was moist and had a light essence of orange. Overall, great experience and I will definitely return.
Food, Service Sangria everything was amazing. It looked busy time but It was served quickly.
Alexis was attentive and friendly. Service was excellent. Worth stopping for lunch. Good was delish.
Randomly walked in and we loved everything about this restaurant. From decor to the menu and also attentive friendly staff. & It's tapa style, so the portion is perfect for us, we get to order several different dishes to share. & Everything is delicious. We Google" restaurant near me" & when the octopus shows up, I decided this is the restaurant we are going to try. & it didn't fail us. I think the Google review didn't give it justice. & I believe you would love it. Highly recommend it to you.
Boqueria is an absolute gem! The food was beyond delicious, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. The highlight of my meal was definitely the Gambas al Ajillo—perfectly cooked shrimp swimming in a rich, garlicky olive oil with just the right touch of heat. It was so flavorful, I couldn’t stop dipping my bread in the sauce! Every dish we tried was fresh, authentic, and packed with incredible flavor. The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who made great recommendations. If you’re looking for an amazing Spanish tapas experience, Boqueria is a must-visit! Can’t wait to come back!
A wonderful culinary experience! If you have always wanted to try Spanish cuisine, enjoy surprises and excellent cooking, come here. I really enjoyed the seafood paella and the patatas bravas particularly. The food and drink options are wonderful. Definitely make a reservation if you are going out on a Saturday. The ambiance I really loved too. Good lighting, music just loud enough to feel like you could talk to your party and it still feels intimate. Also, a really fun design of having Spanish pantry items lined along the walls. Enjoy!
happy hour is a great deal. we got 3 tapas and 2 drinks in total. patatas bravas are a must try, super crispy potatoes with a flavorful sauce. pan con tomate was fresh. got the red sangria and beer -- both were solid. will definitely be back for future happy hours and looking forward to trying the paella. we sat outside but the interior of the restaurant is absolutely stunning too
everything was amazing:) the atmosphere, music, food and service thank you to Ann!! the portions for the happy hour are definitely enough to fill up one person(if you have a few) or make good appetizers for 2 people I ordered off the happy hour menu: Mini Hamburguesas (8.5/10) Churros (9/10) Bocadito Jamon (9/10)
Came here for a business lunch on a Friday. Food was great, lots of options. Each thing we had was delicious. The service was also wonderful. Decor 10/10. Will be back for a date night!
My husband and I were visiting from Cincinnati and lucky to be staying during Chicago Restaurant Week. We both looked at the menu ahead of time and knew we wanted to try their set menu and it did not disappoint. We loved everything about Boqueria! Our waitress was well-versed on the menu options, the cocktails were balanced and amazingly tasty (shishito pepper margarita was chef's kiss), the tapas were fresh with great flavors, and the ambience was cozy and fun with the Spanish ingredients. Thank you for a great date night evening!
Came for Restaurant Week, stayed for the vibes. I believe our server was named Rose but she was so thorough and knowledgeable over the menu and just so much fun to talk to. The sangria was amazing and the food, phenomenal! Will definitely be back.
We went for a girls day/brunch and did the $35 bottomless deal. It was the best deal - $35 for bottomless mimosas, sangrias, bloody mary’s, margaritas and Estrella’s. The service was quick, and our server was great! I unfortunately didn’t get her name but it was last Sunday around 1PM. We loved the white sangria the most, and the paella and ham croquettes. Will definitely be coming back!
I was in Chicago for business this past weekend. Boqueria was highly recommended by a friend, and I’m glad I went. The brunch was awesome! Alondra and Manny were awesome! Alondra made some great recommendations. The Bruselas and Patatas Bravas were hands down the best I’ve had! The manager was hands on and talked to every table while we were there including ours. The design, the decor, the food, the staff, and the cocktails all get five stars!!! This is my new favorite restaurant in Chicago! I wish you all the best!
My husband and I had dinner here Friday night and it was fantastic. We ordered the Classic tasting menu and it was absolutely worth it, every course was delicious and well prepared. We almost chose the Restaurant Week menu but decided on the paella instead and were so glad we did. We aren't locals, but this place is definitely worth coming back for. Highly recommend!
The sangria was good (we've been trying to find a contender to some we had when we were in Spain, they used a sparkling wine - still looking). We opted for the tapas lunch special, the portion sizes were just right, the food was amazing and the service was fine (felt bad for waiter as he seemed to have too many tables for one person to handle). We ordered potatos Brava, a potato and egg dish, ham & cheese croquet and meat on sourdough. We will definitely visit again, we enjoy the Fulton Market area, it is easy to get to and parking is available.
A friend recommended this place, and it did not disappoint! The interior is so cool and beautiful, you can’t help but look around and take in all the details (I loved it). The food was so good, and the croquetas and jamón were definitely the standouts!
Food was excellent - shared many dishes with a group. The paella was the stand out, so so good. Service was extremely slow, but we were there during a large event in Fulton Market, so this may not be the normal service.
Giovanni did an excellent job. He did the experience to be much better for us. Restaurant anbience is great and food is good quality, come here with enough time to eat.
The food was very delicious, especially the paella. Very delicious and the seafood was fresh! The atmosphere was fantastic and very modern. My only complaint, as with many tapas places in the US, is the pricing. Very small quantities for their bacon wrapped dates and croquettes. Other competitors serve much more food for an equal to slightly lesser price. Overall, if you’re in Fulton, this place is a good time.
Nice tapas. Good vegetarian options. Slow service. Nice drink menu, including fancy non alcoholic drinks.
Boqueria offers an upscale tapas experience in a stylish setting. We dined as a large group and opted for the chef’s menu. With several dietary restrictions at the table, our server did a commendable job curating the meal to accommodate everyone. Highlights included the croquettes, garlic shrimp, prosciutto, bacon-wrapped dates, and crispy potatoes—all flavorful and well-executed. The steak was also tender and nicely seasoned. There were a few minor misses from the experience - the paella arrived very late in the meal when most of us were already full, and the rice tasted a tad greasy. The churros were also quite underwhelming: the texture was stiff and dry and missing the chewy texture you’d expect. Service was a bit inconsistent throughout the night; despite the restaurant not being fully busy, it often took a while to get the staff’s attention. Overall, Boqueria delivers on ambiance and some strong small plates with a generally satisfying experience (though a few minor flavor and pacing hiccups hold it back from 5/5).
My fiancée and I went here on Monday night to enjoy a nice date night together. We have seen this place quite a bit and heard good things, so we’ve been really interested in checking it out. The tapas experience sounded like a fun time so we thought we would go all out and do the Boqueria Experience. Overall, this was a fun way to experience the menu and I would recommend trying this at least once. The service was great and that’s the reason that I still wanted to give this 4 stars. I hate giving anything less than 5 stars, but we just did not feel like the food was worth the price. It was $65 per person and I think because of the price, we had higher expectations. We definitely left full, but the taste just did not match the price. Had it been a bit cheaper, we may not have been as picky. I would say that my favorite dish was the first one with the 30 month aged ham. It had incredible flavor. Definitely still check this place out if you are in the west loop or near any of their other locations!
This place has a wonderful ambiance and lively and spacious outdoor patio area which is the perfect place to enjoy a meal and people watch in the summertime in Chicago. While both the food and service were good, I found the prices to be quite high for the portion sizes offered. For example, we ordered the bacon wrapped dates for approx $9, and we were surprised to see that it was a super tiny plate with only 3 small bacon wrapped dates on it. Overall I feel that the taste is comparable to other tapas restaurants in Chicago, but the price is higher. That being said, I did really enjoy the ambiance of the outdoor dining patio in the Fulton market area, as well as the excellent customer service, and for these reasons, I would consider coming back.
Food: The charcuterie was rather underwhelming, we order 2 cheese and 1 meat which takes less than the plate and more of the other sides. However the flavors for everything came along well. The seafood paella was really good, loads of seafood and enough to feed 2 people. The tapas we got was the creamy mushroom, sirloin and chicken. Which all 3 were Delicious, the sirloin was cooked perfectly and blended well with the carrot puree which was more of a softer salt than sweet. The chicken was tender and juicy with loads of herb seasoning. The margarita was impressive with refreshing taste but my only critique is the pulp in the drink that could’ve been drained out Service: our server was great, very bright personality and made sure we had everything we needed. She even allow the sangria off the bill bc it did take awhile since we ordered Ambiance: They have outdoor patio with and awning as well as indoor seating plus bar. It was rather empty during the time we went, but they offer plenty of low lit ambience Location accommodation: it’s right at Fulton market district where there’s plenty of other restaurants and bars to look around too
Maya our server was so personable and pleasant. Truly a star, will be back because of her. The food also never disappoints, please try the croquetas setas if nothing else.
We arrived for our reservation 3 minutes before. The young lady at the hostess stand said something to the affect that give them a minute and they will have a table ready for us in a few minutes. Ok, cool. We stood there for several minutes…and 2 top after 2 top was getting sat while we waited. So after 15 minutes…I checked in…she said there was a miscommunication and we’d get seated right away. After we were sat a manager came to our table and profusely apologized for the mistake and us having to wait so long and offered us a round of drinks on the house. Which was appreciated. Food was amazing other than the shrimp dish, which was under seasoned and overcooked. I told the server, as she asked…and she was going to take it off the bill I believe? But I told her not to, my dinner guest liked it…but I just wanted her to know. Even though there was some ups and downs I highly recommend this place.. delicious food, amazing drinks, professional service staff and a great atmosphere. They also gave me some free cava tickets for the next time we’re in Chicago. Again, very appreciated…and I’ll be back. 🍾
All of our food was cold, the wine glasses were smudged with lipped stains from previous diners. My wife order a glass of wine and took multiple sips yet my glass of wine was still less than hers after she drank some. My martini I ordered for my first drink was the same size as the happy hour mini martinis… not a great look for a high end restaurant. Would I go back again? You need to really empress me to go back. The steak was raw, the server didn’t ask how we wanted it done.
Came here for Sunday brunch around noon, the place was nearly empty, so we expected fresh food and quick service. Our dishes came out fast, but they were cold, like they’d been sitting for a while. The sangria was great (definitely the highlight), and the Brussels sprouts and patatas bravas were tasty despite the temperature. Overall though, the food just didn’t feel fresh. I used to love Café Iberico back in the day, and I was hoping Boqueria would scratch that itch. Unfortunately, it didn’t.
Came here in the afternoon a couple weeks ago for a late lunch. Overall, we felt like almost every dish was missing some aspect to make the dish enjoyable. Also, I feel like some of the descriptions could’ve been better written. We did enjoy our cocktails, service was good, and vibes were nice. However, I think there are a few other Tapas spots in the city that I’d rather frequent
Service was decent, I had dirty utensils with dried tomato on them so I asked a female staff member to switch them out and she never returned..so I had to grab a set myself. The lady looked overwhelmed so no biggie. As for the black gentleman running the reception & the tables, he was amazing..so professional & friendly. Now for the food, its not shabby tasting, but its a major rip-off. Small, pitiful portions that didn't fill me up and our group of 7 paid ~$600. The smallest olives & skewers I have ever seen in my life, literally - and I am well traveled globally including Spain. Definitely not worth it, I won't be coming back. I get that running a business isn't cheap, but this is price-gouging at its finest. Typical Fulton Market nonsense taking advantage of bougie yuppies..nothing new here. There are plenty of other restaurants with better, less costly food. The owners need to seriously re-address their price structure & portion sizes. The other reviews are right about watered-down sangrias. That's how they trick you to get more. Good luck surviving in this tough market if you're going to cheap-out on morsels.
Service was good but unfortunately food was not. Portions are very small and nothing special. We also ordered paella (short rib) and was pretty bad. Texture of the rice was not good and was lacking flavor. Red sangria was good but with too little pieces of fruit.
I come here fairly regularly, it's close to my office so mostly weekday happy hour around 5ish. Their happy hour is good, usually busy but not crammed, and the bar team gives fantastic service. I popped in today(a Wednesday) and had to share what I experienced, in hopes management will maybe listen from a patrons perspective. I arrived around 5, and first off the staff was doing a tasting in the middle of the dining room. Very awkward. But I can get past that. What truly got me upset enough to write this...by 6 pm they had a full restaurant, full bar and a private party. And ONE BARTENDER. this poor bartender was handling the happy hour crowd, a full restaurant, and a private party already demanding special treatment. Who thinks this is the right way to treat their staff and how good do you think the service is for any one of your patrons? That is horrible management, period. Do better.
Atmosphere was amazing, exactly like a tapas bar in Barcelona. Unfortunately the food is not as good: salmon was overcooked, chickpeas and spinach uneatable. Portions are pretty small, me and my husband paid 200$ and we were still hungry after that. Service is also not the best: we had to wait 20 minutes for the waiter to get our order, while they were getting orders from other tables who already ate and just asked for extra drinks or desserts.
We visited Saturday during Restaurant Week after booking through OpenTable based on the advertised specials, only to be told upon arrival that they were not available on weekends. We were also informed that lunch is not offered on weekends, which was disappointing and was not stated on the website. After leaving, we noticed there was an all-day weekend happy hour advertised online that was never mentioned to us, and items we ordered from that menu were charged at full price. We also waited over 20 minutes to be greeted despite the restaurant being very slow. Overall, the lack of communication and service made for a super disappointing experience.
The restaurant is cute during nighttime, but it’s way overcrowded and the sitting was awful with tiny tables when it’s just two people and super close to each. If it’s someone in a wheelchair or a bigger person, would not feel comfortable or probably even able to dine there! Overall the food was not impressive, and a little overpriced, but I guess it’s the location that really makes it more expensive. No parking around, even though there’s a parking lot down the street, but it was completely full! Honestly, that bottled Spanish sparkling water and Spanish olives was the best part! Churro was really good too!
We hosted a private event last night for my sister’s birthday, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. First, the bill was completely messed up — we were overcharged by about $400, which took a lot of time and frustration to sort through. For a private event, this level of billing error is unacceptable. Second, there was only one server for a group of 15 people, and she was also handling three other tables at the same time. As a result, service was extremely slow — good luck getting drinks refilled or orders checked on in a timely manner. To make matters worse, the waitress was rude and unprofessional, which really put a damper on what was supposed to be a special celebration. The food itself was very good, but unfortunately everything came out all at once, which made it overwhelming and hard to actually enjoy or digest the meal properly. For a private event, better pacing would have made a big difference in the overall experience. Overall, poor service, poor management of a private event, and serious billing issues ruined the night. I would not recommend this place for group events or celebrations.
While our food was excellent our service was terrible. Our server was MIA most of the evening. We had a party of 8 and took over an hour to before he returned to our table to check in on us and take additional drink orders. At the end of the evening I literally had to flag him down to ask for the check and he just brushed me off and said there is a QR code on the table to pay. We were very happy with the various dishes and apps I will not be returning given the complete lack of service.
I decided to give this restaurant a try instead of our usual tapas restaurant for a special occasion. The location and ambience were great . The charcuterie and cocktails were nice. I’ll also say the octopus dish was tasty and the shrimp were average. The rest of the dishes were pretty lackluster, including the tomato salad, the overly salty calamari, and the patatas bravas that were way too heavy. Instead of having a fluffy interior, they were very deep-fried. The part that really upset me the most was that I had called ahead to let them know that it was my sister’s birthday and they did nothing for the occasion. After dinner the waiter didn’t even offer us a dessert menu he just handed me the check. I was pretty disappointed especially with the amount I spent. I did let the staff know before I left, and they gave me a birthday card with a coupon for a free basic tapa on your next visit, which I assume is given in addition to a dessert but at that point it was too late. Given my experience, I would not recommend this restaurant, there are much better options in the area. I wish I would have gone to my regular tapas restaurant Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba. They have more options that never disappoint and I know they wouldn’t have forgotten my sister‘s birthday.
The Worst Customer Service ever! Kitchen is completely mismanaged and has no idea that items A La Carte must be served at the same time for a group dining of 3 people! Our items were brought 20 minutes apart which is completely ridiculous! The Restaurant Manager did not seem to care ! They even ran out of Ketchup! Nice! The Free Complementary Deserts were not served! Cream Catalan was not served because they ran out of the butane!! How pathetic that this place is so grossly mismanaged! The Worst Service in Chicago!
