We had a fantastic experience at Ché, starting our evening with cocktails and the triple dip. For our main course, we each chose the 'Pick 3' empanada option. Every empanada was a great size, flavorful, and clearly freshly fried. While all were good, the Mushroom Feta and the Short Rib were my favorites. My husband enjoyed his meal so much that he actually ordered a second round of three immediately after finishing his first! We finished our dinner with the ricotta donuts, which were absolutely outstanding and provided the perfect sweet ending to the meal. Beyond the food, the service was excellent; our server was friendly, patient and took the time to answer all of our questions. We also loved discovering they offer a 'take and bake' option so you can enjoy their empanadas at home. Regarding parking, paid street parking options are available. I found the app to be quite convenient for managing payments and adjusting our parking duration. Overall, if you are looking for a spot in Cincinnati with a great atmosphere and even better food, Ché is a must-visit. Don't leave without trying the donuts!
We started with a Kick in the Face, it was an excellent slightly spicy margarita. Next, we started with the blistered shishto peppers. They were definitely a different for an appetizer and a great portion for the price - they would be great for a group of 4-6 but hard for two to eat that many peppers. For our shared main course we selected empanadas, street tacos, and a side of Brussel Sprouts. We had 2 different tacos - chimi chicken and chorizo. The chorizo was our favorite! I will be back just for that! We had three different empanadas - short rib, de carne, and chicken salsa verde. The short rib was good but the chicken salsa verde was the best. What really made the empanadas was the full of flavor green chimichuri salsa. The Brussels sprouts were good nothing too special. Our server was a delight! Very welcoming and informative with any questions we had.
Placed a pick up order (after looking at 20 other restaurants in the area and nothing was sounding good). Came across Ché and it struck my fancy! I ordered the Chimichurri chicken, shrimp ceviché, and a beef empanada. The empanada was nicely crisp with good filling. The ceviche was amazing and easily my favorite part! So fresh and healthy feeling with the perfect amount of this tasty creamy white sauce and lime juice flavor. The Chimichurri was not spicy and had so much flavor. The Rojo potatoes had a decent kick to them. The veggie bed that the chicken lays on top of was a perfect blend. Would return!
Very nice establishment with specialized empanadas, great sauces, and other dishes. Neat casual decor, staff are friendly and the verify of options and flavors are wonderful. Dinner reservations recommend.
Husband and I love trying out new cuisine so took advantage of seeing this Argentinian place on a trip to Cincinnati. Looked up both the classic Argentinian foods are and we're happy to see that they had a lot of them on the menu. Vibe of the place was absolutely lovely. So aesthetic; Especially the seating in the back side with the wooden panel and the lights and all of that stuff. As for the food, this was really delicious. Fugazzeta - It was like a cheese stuffed flatbread pizza kind of a thing and just phenomenal. Literally oozing with cheese inside and outside and still had the perfect balance of cheese and bread. I love classic cheese pizza with some chili flakes and this is perfect with the chili flakes on top. Quite a big potions size as well so we ended up taking most of it to go and reheating it the next day but no issues because those were great as well. Really good variety of empanada options and it was hard to pick. Pick ended up getting the Short Rib and Salsa Verde Chicken (since I was trying to be a little healthy and get a leaner meat that wasn't fried). That short rib empanada was unbelievable! Crispy flaky crust and very delicious meat on the inside. The chicken one was just subpar so I wouldn't recommend it. Also got the Chioripan - This is another traditional dish which is basically like a hot dog. Kind of a bun with a local sausage and some chimichurri and other good stuff inside. I know that the sausage can be quite high in fat, but overall this was a really, really delicious sandwich! I ended up removing most of the chimichurri but it was phenomenal just the same. Hearts of Palm Salad was PHENOMENAL!!
Wow diamond in the middle of Cincinnati downtown. They serve great food with amazing flavors. The stuff is nice and friendly. Very helpful. We had a blast there. Great prices too.
Hands down, this was the best food I’ve ever had in Cincinnati — From start to finish, this restaurant blew us away with both the quality of the food and the incredible service. The steak tacos were absolutely amazing — perfectly seasoned and cooked, with generous portions. The chicken tacos were great too, but the steak really stole the show. We also tried the empanadas, and the short rib and Cubano were amazing. We started with the guacamole appetizer, and it was fresh, creamy, and full of flavor. Every single dish we tried exceeded our expectations. Honestly, not a single item on the menu disappointed us — everything was beyond great. The margaritas were just as impressive — flavorful, strong and a beyond fairly priced. On top of all that, our server was phenomenal. So kind, attentive, and clearly passionate about giving guests a great experience. You could tell they genuinely cared, which made our night even better. The restaurant itself was spotless and comfortable, which added to the overall enjoyment. We’re already looking forward to coming back the next time we’re in town. This place is a must-try.
Me and my fiancé LOVE Che. We go as many times as we can and for our anniversary every year. Cannot recommend their chimichurri enough. We are stuck on the empanadas, but I also highly recommend the side dishes. If you haven’t tried it, go there!
Exceptional food and services. The Brussels sprouts are amazing. Empanadas are flavourful. We ordered mass take out and the labelling on the empanadas are extremely helpful. Person on the phone was nice and cheerful. Recommend to have online ordering website as calling them is difficult, especially for large orders. Great experience and high value for money.
What a unique restaurant, the manager Dave gave me a short tour and explained it's history to include having been a church at one time. We sampled several items recommended by our server James. The bruschetta was fantastic, the salad was delicious and the empanadas (we devoured a bunch) were super. If we lived closer we'd make sure we dined there frequently.
Trisha was an awesome service, friendly, made good drink/food suggestions and the spinach empanadas/ tacos looked and were very yummy! The appetizers were good. Surprise bday donuts w/Carmel were awesome! Thx Trisha!
Che has a fantastic menu that has vegetarian options. The appetizer selection is diverse; I wish I could have tried more! The empanadas and Brussel sprouts are really tasty. Service was great. My friend and I had a very nice time dining at Che!
Ahh, this brought back my love of Empeñadas. These are top-tier flavor that actually made me sad I didn’t get more. I ordered the short rib and cubano empeñadas. But I could have eaten at least 3 more! The Mac and cheese was delicately crafted to perfection. A bit of spice but a lot of flavor! I hate when my Mac and cheese is full and dry and this did not disappoint! The white mousse dessert was a delicious end to the night! Service was very attentive and sneaky. My glass kept refilling and I never saw them fill it up! The setting is on the small side but never felt cramped like some bars do. And the best part was I got to take some frozen empanadas home to cook throughout the week! I will definitely be back.
The place wasn't busy on Sunday night. Best time to go, I guess. We had 5 empanadas, and half salad plate. These empanadas were so filled with meats.. from end to end.. love it.
This is a cute place with both indoor and patio seating. They have yummy and very filling empanadas. Don't forget to ask your server about their monthly specials. Their brunch menu is very interesting as well.
Chef’s special: 2 chicken breasts, multi colored carrots with a bowl of black beans. The chicken was flavorful and tender, the carrots were new to me but also special. We also ordered the guacamole for the app, and it was amazing, there was added peppers and spices it was a delightful. The Brussel sprouts glazed with sauce and mixed with bacon are mouth watering. The inside of restaurant was very easy for people to talk, and the atmosphere was great. I would definitely go back there again.
Single stall bathroom, which is essential after a few too many tacos 🤪 Located past a few tables when you walk in, on the left.
Perfect place for brunch on Saturday. Delicious empanadas and outstanding jalapeño infused tequila. Generous tequila serving that goes hand in hand with a variety of delicios empanadas. You have to reserve via OpenTable. You might need to drive around the block to find a parking spot, or use a 3 dollars/ hour public parking. I'm sure we will be back for more empanadas and jalapeño infused tequila. Perfect food if you need catering and need empanadas by the dozen. Las Malvinas son argentinas. Thank you
Everything was delicious! I had the caipirinha to drink, and a couple of empanada. The de carne empanada has ground meat, chopped hard-boiled egg, and chopped green olive, exactly how we make them at home! I also had chicken and salsa verde empanada, delicious. The chimichurri sauce was excellent, and the cilantro-lime crema, also excellent. I definitely want to go back!
Their empanadas are the best!!! I love them so much. I literally crave them everyday. Their guacamole is amazing as well. I always have a great time when I dine in the restaurant. The staff members are friendly.
This cozy spot in OTR is fantastic. The empanadas are small, but delicious. Crust is flaky and buttery, stayed really crispy. Service was efficient and attentive, keeping our drinks full. Also love the fries.
Gorgeous patio, great service and food. Even saw some fireflies! The palm salad was amazing and we had one of each of the empanadas.
Great burger week showing. One of the few that offer takeout and they did it well. Big burger, high quality toppings including a super spicy and rich red pepper cream cheese. Also I've been here for non burger week, excellent empanadas and large salads with fresh veggies.
I was only in town for a day, and I was really in the mood for something hardy. I stumbled across Ché and boy they did not disappoint. I came in during brunch and asked for a parrillada, and they said sure thing. I was super satisfied with everything. The two servers working that day were also super welcoming and knowledgeable. 10/10 would recommend for the vibes, food, and drink.
The empanadas were AMAZING and so was the jalapeño infused cocktail. Service was super nice and friendly. Would go again!
Just ate here this morning with my boyfriend. The patio was beautiful and the presentation of the food was stunning. Everything we had was delicious including our empanadas, potatoes, coffee, and mimosas. The staff were friendly and the experience was positive. I would definitely recommend brunch here!
Stopped in for the first time after a game and the service was outstanding, the empanadas were amazing, and the price was right. Between the group I tried almost every empanada available and the baked and fried were equally as amazing. There was a nice mix of savory, sweet, crunchy, and creamy. So good, I can't wait to come back!
Stopped by for lunch and would gladly return. We ordered a variety of empanadas and were impressed with each one. Extremely well seasoned and full of flavor. The dough was perfect as well, light and flaky.
I’ve been to Che a handful of times now, and I’ve officially decided to write a review. The atmosphere and service is great. The non alcoholic drinks are marvelous. The last time I went, I got the following for food: Butternut Squash Soup and two empanadas: Short Rib and De Espinaca. I went in a group of 6. We got a pitcher of sangria and multiple non alcoholic drinks. We got two appetizers: the fundido and the guacamole. (I’d skip the fundido.) Everyone got 2-3 empanadas, and we were stuffed at the end.
Stopped in for supper. Server was so sweet and kind. We got drinks, some empanadas, and a salad. All super flavorful. Will go back. Parking is tricky since it's in OTR. I like the Gateway garage.
We had brunch at this cute and quaint Argentinian restaurant in the OTR. We had Adios Resaca which mine I had one beef and one beef short rib empanada. Served on breakfast potatoes with a chorizo and Goetta gravy with melted mozzarella and house relish. The beef empanada was baked and seasoned perfectly and the bed short rib was fried and melted in our mouth. Drinks, friendly waitstaff and definitely worth the trip OTR. Thank you!
Spectacular empanadas and even better service! We split six empanadas between two people and it was plenty (although we ordered the brussel sprouts on the side anyhow). Try them all if you can!! Pro tip: come on Monday for $5 glasses of merlot :)
Our son that lives in Cincy took us here. My husband & I have never been to an Argentinian restaurant . It was so quaint & comfortable, food excellent & Waiter, James H., even better !! James reccomended a variety of dishes & drinks, really knew his stuff !! Hope to go again on a future trip from Harrisburg, PA .
Went here for my brother's birthday and had a great time! the food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful.
Great atmosphere and delicious food. Our server James tended to us well, and provided super food recommendations. Our party of 4 enjoyed shrimp ceviche, Argentine mixed grill platter with juicy flavorful chicken, steak, sausage, and crispy potatoes. The empanadas were so flaky and flavorful. When James learned this was our first trip to Cincinnati, he suggested we visit the zoo, gardens and the Terminal Station. Great Cincinnati Ambassador! Terrific place to eat and drink!
They have quality plates. I got the chimichurri chicken with the potatoes, comes with some veggies in there. Super flavorful and tasty, cooked to perfection. A quality, healthy meal. Even the fountain coke was on point. Good service too. Found a hidden gem after walking around on a Saturday night looking for open seats and the right meal. Glad I ended up in the perfect place. Looks like Cincinnati has some quality food. Wish I could say the same about Cali. Chefs are some pros and the staff here are very friendly
This place is awesome. We have come twice now when visiting Cincinnati and it was so good the first time that we made sure to book a hotel close by to eat here again. We especially love the different chimichurri sauces. Service is excellent as well—-an item was forgotten in our large pickup order but management was quick to address the issue and even got us drinks while we were waiting. Highly recommended. We will be back next time we are in town!
Amazing dinner. My husband and I ordered 4 empanadas (spinach, cubano x2, and de carne) and a lomito completo handheld sandwhich. So delicious. We would come all the time if we were local. Wonderful staff and environment/decor. Music was soft enough to have a conversation. Als while we waited for food there were trivia games we could play on our smart phones.
My wife is from Cuba and she admits che empanadas are better than cuban empanadas! And the chimichurri was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised when I seen an array of drinks with cachaca. They were all good.
We showed up a bit before dinner rush on a Saturday night without reservations. They accommodated our party of 6 with excellent and expedient service and the food was PHENOMENAL! Thankful to have found this gem in Cincinnati!
Empanadas were flakey, crispy and filled nicely. They were tasty but on the small size. Of the three I tried, the jerk chicken was best. The cuban and de carne were uniquely different and good. I will be back to try them all along with other items.
Friendly and cozy neighborhood restaurant. We shared the parrillada for 2, which was very tasty, although I would prefer less chorizo and more chicken. Service was quick even though the restaurant was full early Saturday evening ahead of an FCC home game. Empanadas are helpfully marked so you know which filing they have.
Amazing empanadas! My husband and I have been looking for a new empanada place since our favorite one closed down. He didn't come with me on this trip but I think he'll have to come soon! I got the Korean BBQ and Shortrib empanadas with the mac and cheese. Let me tell you these empanadas were JUICY, fresh, crispy, and flavorful. The mac and cheese was piping hot (I burned my tongue) and it was okay overall. I feel like the bread crumbs weren't crunchy enough and the cheese could be creamier, but that's my preference. Overall food was 4/5. The service was below average. Our waitress didn't refill our drinks and kind of rushed us through our order. As for kitchen staff, they got one of my mom's tacos wrong but the manager/owner who checked on us after we got our food (notice how it wasn't the waitress) quickly got my mom a new taco, let her keep the other one, AND gave her a discount. Amazing service from him and it was much appreciated by all of us. Service was 3/5. Atmosphere was cozy, bar style. There were tvs and we felt comfortable. The menus were a bit gross-feeling though and some areas could have been cleaner. This was a 4/5 for me. Overall I would revisit but I'll have to set my expectations to have somewhat poor service. Food itself was really really good! Try it out for yourself.
They have a nice back patio with a unique atmosphere when the weather permits. However, it can smell pretty rough as the dumpster for next door is right on the other side of the wall. That being said, it's not Che's fault. Just make sure to take a sniff before you decide to sit outside. Food was great and drinks were on par. Price for food is a bit high, but still worth the occasional visit. The place itself is small and can get cramped during busy times. Parking access can be a pain due to location as well.
I travel for work and was so looking forward to dining here. I’m Argentinean and love to visit and support local Argentinean restaurants in every city I go to. I’m not sure if we came on a bad night, but we were the only table at 8p on a Monday night and was hoping for a great parrillada experience (I was really rooting for it!). The waitress was very friendly, and the place has a cool vibe - we even got a Fernet and Coke and Quilmes. But between some “miscommunication” with the cooks, the food didn’t hit the way I hoped and it also came out at scattered times (the lomito sandwich came about 30 minutes later). The meat came mostly well-done even though we ordered medium rare. It also came out at room temperature. Decent flavors. Worth knowing that the [deep fried] empanadas and potatoes were good. The presentation all looked pretty good. Weird combination of flavors for my taste palette - and everyone else at the table - but I give credit to the restaurant making an attempt to be very fusion in style. I would not say it is an authentic Argentinean restaurant, and I don’t fault them for that. But I do wish some of the flavors got along better and decided what it’s trying to be - maybe TOO fusion-y? The evening came to a halt when the cooks began to wash the grills about 10 feet from our table and we were literally smoked out of the restaurant. We just got up, paid and had to leave covering our noses. Not a great evening altogether. But I do love that we found an Argentinean style restaurant.
The food was tasty, but it was obvious that our parrillada sat for a while in the back. The steak came out medium well and the rest was luke warm. I hadn't been there in a while, but my experience was better in the past.
Came here with a large party for a Bachelorette party. We had 15 people. They did not treat us nicely at all. They acted as though we were an inconvenience to them. They gave us water in pitchers but no cups for about 20min. When we asked again for cups they had them stacked inside each other, one cup shattered in the bride's hand. They would not let us split our bill. They wouldn't let us sit at the other empty table even though there was not enough seating for us at the table they provided. They had to ask first. We were so thirsty and didn't order anything other than water since one person was going to have to pay. We could only get warm water when begged for more. At one point it started raining on us so we opened our mouth to catch some rain lol. We def won't be back. Food was good but service was AWFUL!
I’m from Argentina and came here with high expectations. Only three items on the entire menu were actually Argentine: the empanadas, choripán, and lomito. Everything else felt like a made-up fusion that really didn’t reflect traditional Argentine food. I ordered the lomito and specifically asked for no spicy, but it still came extremely spicy. I had to return it and asked for empanadas instead. The first food took about 30 minutes to arrive, and then I waited another 30 minutes for the empanadas. My fiancé ordered Brussels sprouts as a side, and they didn’t come out until an hour later, at the same time as my empanadas. The restaurant was basically empty, so the wait times didn’t make sense. If you’re looking for authentic Argentine food, this is not the place. The experience overall was disappointing. Place decor was nice tho.
Missed Potential in Flavor & Experience Came in on a Sunday afternoon for dinner with my girlfriend. With only one other table of five, the restaurant was far from busy, creating a relaxed but somewhat uninspiring atmosphere. While the interior was clean, the decor didn’t reflect the Argentinean essence I expected. Instead, it gave off the impression of a seafood restaurant attempting to mimic an 1800s ship, almost as if it was inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean. We started with empanadas, intending to explore the menu further. My girlfriend ordered three chicken salsa verde empanadas and one buffalo chicken, while I chose one buffalo chicken and one de carne empanada. The empanadas were well-cooked and filling, but the overall experience was underwhelming. A major letdown was the lack of attentive service. The server spent most of the time on his phone at the bar, only approaching at the end of our meal to refill water. Had he checked in earlier, I would have requested a proper side salsa to enhance the empanadas with a bolder, tangy, and spicier kick. The provided olive oil-packed Chimichurri and blue cheese didn’t do much to elevate the flavors, leaving the dish bland and uninspired. As a Latino dining at a Latin American restaurant, I anticipated flavors that reminded me of my roots. Instead, I found a place that seemed more tailored for milder, less adventurous palates rather than those who appreciate the depth and spice of authentic Latin cuisine. At $5.50–$6 per empanada, I expected a richer experience—more flavor, better service, and definitely more salsa. Unfortunately, the visit didn’t inspire me to explore the rest of the menu, and I’ll likely seek out other Argentinean spots that deliver on both authenticity and customer care
We got there around 7:30pm (closes at 10:00pm). It was not the greatest welcome, they told us about 30 minutes wait when a table was available in 5 minutes. They said 30 minutes for us to go ? As Argentinean, I was expecting Argentina food in an “argentinean” restaurant. We ask for choripan. No chorizos !! We asked for milanesa sandwich. It was a fried chicken without flavor serve with coleslaw !! Coleslaw?? on a milanesa sandwich ??? I didn’t finish.
