Homey family run spot. Dedicated to consistent true to Mama's recipe food. The clams in lemon wine butter sauce were terrific - the baguette that came with it literally rivally the bread I've tasted in Paris.
My mouth is watering just typing this. We started with the fried mozzarella. This is the first time having disc shaped mozzarella “sticks” and they were little clouds of deliciousness! The server introduced herself and I was so pleased and intrigued to hear that it’s been a family business and her and her sister run it. I love it’s local! My husband had the spaghetti pie and I had a garlic butter clam pasta dish, I forgot the name. It was all amazing!!! Will go back!
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of dining at Dats Italian and it was hands down the most delicious Italian food I've ever had! The experience was so exceptional that we returned today for dinner, ordering the same dishes and even adding extra ones to our meal. The food is truly finger-licking good, bursting with authentic Italian flavors. The atmosphere is amazing, with a warm and inviting ambiance that makes you feel right at home. The staff is incredible, providing top-notch service with genuine friendliness and attentiveness. The patio is charming and adds to the delightful experience, with the wonderful aromas of Italian cuisine filling the air. I'm more than willing to make the drive back just to enjoy another extraordinary meal at this Italian restaurant. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience Dats Italian is the place to go!
Haven't been here in quite some time just because of the drive involved. Came here on Saturday at 6 with a reservation and got seated right away. The food was amazing and the service was great but a tiny bit slower than expected. I tried something new that I haven't had before, Parmesan Pangasius, and wow I was blown away. It was tender, very mildly flavored and mixed with the pasta perfectly. I would highly recommend this dish.
Hidden gem in the heart of old Colorado City! Beautiful and tasty selections including a significant wine list and gluten-free options. Customer service is excellent and the staff is knowledgeable about ingredients for those with dietary restrictions. Highly recommended! Noel was our server, and he was great!
Great place in a great area. Service is top notch, prices fair and the food is absolutely incredible. Went pound of mussels and I shouod have done two pounds honestly. Sausage carbonara was delicious. The portion sizes are enough for two meals.
Nice place with delicious food. It can be a bit stuffy. They weren't happy that the 2 of us wanted the 4 seat table, even though there was only 1 other table taken. This is the 1st Italian restaurant I've ever been to that charges for bread. The waiter said This isn't olive garden. LOL But he was patient and cool. The meatballs were really good and the lasagna was great. Lasagna is my gauge for Italian restaurants because it's often better to make your own. This one was worth paying for.
We are from Arizona, and of all the family-owned Italian restaurants I have tried, this is definitely one of the best. The portion sizes are large and super filling. The food was prepared wonderfully, and we could taste all the handmade ingredients such as the pasta and meatballs. The service was fantastic and so friendly! It’s such a homey place, and their story is so heartwarming. Love it- 10/10 recommend!
The staff was amazing and the food was great! I had the clams in white sauce (the name was longer) and my friend had the egg plant parmesan with sausage & a side meatball. We got the bread & olive oil as an appetizer. Everything was really good.
This is my go to spot for Italian in Colorado Springs. I always get the lasagna because it was in my top 3 and I'm fortunate and travel alot. My 2024 experience the quality dropped a tad, from a 5+ to a 4.. Not sure if it's the same owners (last there in 2019). There was only 1 waiter tonight and while he was great, you can only do so much. Something seemed to have changed. Still a fantastic place to go in that area.
Excellent food, great service, great ambiance. This place has been around for 5 generations. Generous portions. All around great place.
Oh My ❤ this place I googled near me came up! I wasn't dissatisfied the best garlic bread with marinara and the sangiovese wine was so good with the chicken carbonara they split for us! The manager was so friendly and funny showing the restaurant to us about his wife and the pictures about a true Italian restaurant in the making! We had top notch service was the best! Thank you for a great experience! Definitely recommend if you're in the Colorado springs area!
Dat’s Italian is a fifth-generation restaurant. It has delicious lasagne & garlic mozzarella bread. The Alverdi Pinot Grigio wine is one of the best I have tasted. There was one male waiter taking everyone’s orders. He did a great job. He was friendly & personable and made us laugh. The food was well worth the wait. I will be back to visit this restaurant in the future.
Great authentic Italian! Ambiance was quiet and elegant. Our server, the owners daugher took great care of us. 3 for dinner> the garlic bread was toooo die for! Whole roasted garlic on super fresh bread! Had the chicken parm and eggplant parm. So fresh . They import many of the ingredients from Italy, and it shows! Excellent Connolli and coffee. I highly recommend. And prices were very fair. Good job!
Our first time visit was wonderful! This is a small locally owned restaurant and a reservation is definitely recommended. You can always walk the local shops while waiting for your table. I had the spaghetti pie with carbanarra (sp?) sauce and my husband had the chicken pancetta truffle something - it looked great. There were a lot of great items on the menu!
This was, by far, the BEST Italian food experience I have ever had!! The atmosphere was set perfectly by the lighting and music, the service was friendly and always making sure we had everything, and the food, OH! THE FOOD was SPECTACULAR!!! The pesto pasta with chicken was superb, all 4 antipasto dishes were phenomenal, and the dessert, the lemon cream cake, was the perfect way to end the meal. I live in Tennessee, but if I ever visit Colorado again I will, I repeat, I WILL return to this place for another fantastic experience!!! 6 Stars to Dat, Dalton, and everyone else involved!! 6 STARS!
One of the best Italian restaurants in Colorado Springs, everything was absolutely amazing and the service was wonderful. Will always come back when I’m in town
The atmosphere is nice and cozy. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I had the most amazing tiramisu!
I am a very, very picky lasquana eater. I hate lasquana with tomatoes that are too big or too hard. This lasquana here was out of the park. Sooo delicious. I couldn't feel the tomatoes that were so small that it didnt hamper my enjoyment as other dishes did. Cozy and warm environment. Free parking off 26th or 25th for public. I would recommend this place. By the way their rolls were delicious as wella
A great experience at this family-run authentic Italian restaurant! My boyfriend and I enjoyed an exceptionally lovely dinner at Dat's Italian. We were greeted by the owner, Mr. Trujillo, a very warm person who emanates hospitality. After introductions, he insisted we sit at "the romantic table", tucked back in the wall where the lighting was a little dimmer and we had such a nice romantic time. Ah, amore.... The walls are lined with old family photos and paintings of Italy's vineyards and such. It's a cozy place, very welcoming; where you could reminisce about how your grandmother made her pasta and hold hands, listening to a little Sinatra. Well. That's what we did, anyway. The food was a-ma-zing. Really. The shrimp on my entree, the shrimp carbonara, were done so perfectly, I had to go back and gush compliments at the chef. He said, "oh yeah, they were good, weren't they? I had to try one, they looked so good..." We even brought home dessert. The cannolis as delicious as everything else. Divine tiramisu. I'm not gonna lie, it's expensive, if you're on a modest budget like us. But if you're looking for a special night out - like our anniversary in our case - Dat's Italian will not disappoint. We would love to eat there again anytime. I believe reservations are strongly recommended.
Amazing food, amazing service! Best authentic Italian restaurant in town. Very impressed! Staff was wonderful, it was like having dinner at a friend's house.
Fantastic! We got lucky - got a table for four at 6:00 on a Friday night and I am so glad we did! Great and friendly service, and the food...ahh the food...
Very good homemade Italian food. We all really enjoyed our meals. We had reservations for 8pm and they got us in early. We enjoyed the garlic bread and fried mozzarella (amazing) as appetizers. I had the shrimp carbonara as my meal, which another family member enjoyed as well. Others enjoyed the spaghetti, spaghetti bake, and chicken alfredo. Will definitely be back.
Best place ever! Fantastic real Italian food! The people are fantastic super friendly, so it's worth your money! Feels like your in Italy the lasagna is to die for!
Intimate family owned restaurant. Our table of four all ordered different entrees (and of course we sample each other's selection) and nobody got a bad plate of food. Be sure to try the garlic bread, and mozzarella cheese appetizer.
My husband and I have tried every Italian restaurant in Colorado Springs, and nothing comes close to Dat’s Italian. The food is authentic, full of flavor, and clearly made with love. It’s the real deal — fresh pasta, rich sauces, and that cozy, family-owned feel. This is our go-to spot for Italian. Nothing else compares! Literally the best Italian food in the Springs!!!
Went here for the first time tonight and it was fantastic! We ordered the chicken white truffle pancetta fettuccine and the shrimp scampi. Both were fantastic and the perfect portions. We had Derek as our server, he was fantastic as well and even graciously ran after us down the block after we left our debit card behind! Would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting this area!
This is a wonderful find. This is family owned and family recipes. The Scampi was wonderful. The sauces are so rich but light. Wonderful service and food. I hope to come back again on another vacation.
We went for the first time tonight and my dad could tell right away from the food there was some New York influence. We loved the family atmosphere and the food was delicious! The staff were very friendly and told us about the pictures of their family on the wall. My dad had the lasagna and loved it, we also enjoyed the bread sampler and fried mozzarella. I would highly recommend coming here, some of the best Italian in the Springs, and you can support a local family.
We had the wonderful experience of visiting one of our favorite restaurants in the Springs tonight! Not only was every noodle at our table cooked to a perfect al dente, they even hit it out of the park with the gluten free noodles (which are notoriously difficult to get to the table at peak perfection). The seasoning was spot on, as was the presentation of each dish. Reading the reviews posted today was a very stark contrast to the experience we had sitting at the same restaurant, on the same evening, at the same time. Remember, it is incredibly busy in this part of town over Memorial Day Weekend however, the staff was excited to serve and get food to their customers in a timely manner. They kept pace with the kitchen and their timing was perfect. It's so easy to forget how hard local businesses work every single day to keep their doors open. Posting negative reviews of a small business, rather than taking the opportunity to reach out privately, hinders small business at it's core. A strong community is a supported community.
I recently had dinner here with friends. It was a wonderful evening out! The food was delicious. The bread was noting short of amazing. The menu has about anything a person could want from an Italian restaurant. It's locally/family owned, and I always prefer to eat at such places rather than chains. Support your neighbors, not a big soul-less corporation! Our server, Parker, has delightful. He was there whenever we needed him, but was not intrusive. Great personality. Friendly while still being professional. This is in Old Colorado City, so you have to pay for parking, but we had no problem finding a space. Nice decor and a good wine selection.
So full blooded italian here and lived in jersey for almost all of my life, don't ask why im in colorado but I have to say I very highly reccomend this place! For starters and to me the most important part, the food came out hot like really hot, something thats almost non existent these days. From a simple bruschetta to the main course, even the desert tasted like it came straight off of my grandmothers stove. Each bite inspired memories of childhood and the quality was top notch. Staff is super friendly and made for an overall fun and memorable experience. Myself and my wife will for sure be back without question.
Maia and Parker were amazing and killed it being so friendly and attentive for such a busy night by themselves! With Maia’s recommendations we shared the Italian clams, and had the parmesan pangasius, eggplant parmesan, and shrimp carbonara. Everything was hot and delicious! So excited to get home and have our cannolis and tiramisu.
We had 6 couples to dine together and we reserved ahead of time. They took great care of us. The food was delicious and the tiramisu was fantastic! It was the first time for my wife and me and we will be coming back.
My wife and I go to Dat’s Italian every time we travel to Colorado Springs. You can’t go wrong. Food is amazing. The Italian Valium and Lemoncello Martini’s are perfect, and every time we have been here, the Owner Dennis personally treats us like family. This is the place where you want to be. Dennis and Joanne, appreciate you for all of our great memories there!
This is such a fun, cozy place to go for dinner! I went on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend, and the host (and I deduced also the owner) was so kind and funny. This place is a small, family-owned business, with pricing probably around $20-30 per person. I got the chicken alfredo, and I could tell it was a family recipe (and I learned from the waitress her mom is the chef!). The food obviously isn't from a Michelin-starred restaurant (hence why I am holding out for a 5-star in that category), but it was not bad by any means... maybe a tiny bit bland, but again, pretty good and the experience of the dinner was so sweet. Also!! Mixed drinks were delicious! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for home-cooked Italian food.
A good find in Colorado Springs Downtown. We, a group of 3 stopped by for a late lunch at 3.00pm. It was nice&quiet, the host (sorry, forgot his name) was really friendly and funny and he helped us pick the restaurant's best pastas. Ordered the eggplant parmigiana, Pasta primavera medley spring and chicken white truffle pancetta trenette, they were all low on salt & seasonings and on the pricier side. We also got the Cannoli(meh) and Brownie with ice cream (that was good). An overall 3.5 star experience
Easy street parking (when not busy) - bring change or use the parking app. Quickly sat. Monday was not busy. Well made chocolate martinis. Bread was great. Food was pretty tasty! Tiramisu was a little heavy. Overall happy with experience. They boxed up leftovers which I love! Not rushed to leave and felt welcomed. Recommend and will return!!
Decent food, fairly authentic but be prepared to be here a while. Only two employees (husband and wife team). The mussels are great but the clams were just ok.
The food was great, but there was only one waiter. He did his best but there really should have been two. Especially when you are including a 20% gratuity on the bill. We ran out of drinks during the meal but our waiter was too busy to do anything about it.
My SO and I went here on Saturday, March 9 of 2019. It was my second visit. Service was fairly good. We stood in the door awhile waiting to be seated. We and one group of four people were the only customers. Our server was really helpful. The food was OK, but for a more expensive restaurant I was surprised by the fact that the fresh greens looked awfully wilted (see the photo) and my meal was rather bland.
We had an ok experience, but probably won't be back. The garlic bread was good, but the amount of garlic was almost too much. I had the chicken parm which I liked. We also had the spaghetti and meatballs, which left something to be desired. The meatballs were big but almost rubbery while trying to cut them. It is not a big place, maybe 10 tables. We were asked about a reservation and we didn't have one. The restaurant was only half full, so it wasn't an issue. There was one guy greeting, seating, taking orders and running food, while we could see one additional person in the kitchen. The food took a good 30 minutes to arrive, and we were starving by then. Overall, it was an ok experience, but for the prices, it definitely didn't wow us into wanting to come back.
First time coming here and service was great. The desserts we had were delicious and so were the cocktails. The food we had was pretty good but nothing amazing. Would come back for dessert only.
I had heard a lot of great things about this restaurant and was really excited to go there. I attended with a large group, and received wonderful service. The food however was bland and boring. The presentation was fantastic and the food looks great, but I was just expecting a whole lot more for the price. I’m gonna call this an off night, and I will give them another shot. Maybe not on a Friday night with a group of 16.
Not sure if they just had an off night considering the other reviews, but it was an awful experience for us. We went on a Saturday night, and there was one cook and one waiter (who was also the bartender). We waited forever for our food and weren't offered any soup or salad or bread or anything as we sat there for an hour waiting. The server was very apologetic due to no staff. I can understand that a little considering what's going on now, but I would have staffed slightly under then let people go is or as necessary. We ordered the eggplant parmesan and veal parmesan. Both were very bland and the veal was basically breading. The noodles had so little marinara sauce that we both had to ask for more. When we got it, it wasn't hot and pretty bland also and just a small plain roll came with the dinners. Certainly didn't taste authentic or what I'd expect from a small Italian restaurant especially after reading the paper on the family values surrounding it. Overall it was a horrible experience which is frustrating because we were so excited to go there after seeing other reviews. All the other tables seemed to share our discontent last night as well. Had to be an off night otherwise there is no way this place would still be in business.
We went for our first time on Valentine’s Day last night. The staff called out a couple for not being able to eat off their Valentine’s Day menu in front of everyone. The kitchen was constantly talking with the waiters on how behind they were and how they couldn’t ask for any more items on the set menu until the appetizers for other people were out. Then they gave us the wrong check, even though everyone had a set rate for the same price and we’re freaking out about that. Everything that was going on, you would know about. Overall, it was very unpleasant to hear how unorganized The restaurant was ran for what is supposed to be a great v-day dinner.
We came last year as tourists, the place was packed, we came last night it was empty. Food wasn’t as good this time around. The men’s bathroom had mud all over it, the women’s bathrooms had no soap. 4 people, meal, salad =120$. I don’t think it was worth it, we won’t be coming back. It appears the place has gone down hill.
Showed up with a reserved table. Was sat down and waited over 10 minutes and did not get greeted by any servers or have any waters given, as well as no drink (non-wine) menu. There were several empty tables, and several employees walking around avoiding eye contact and acting like we did not exist. Beyond Dissatisfied, would it waste my time to sit here and get Zero service or even an acknowledgment. Horrible!
Absolutely the WORST Italian food I have ever eaten. I think spaghettios would have been better. The Alfredo noodles were dry and chewy. I watch the cook microwave them and asked the waiter. He said “oh no never”. LIES My wife ordered the lasagna. Waiter said it was the best lasagna you’ll ever eat…..LIES!!! Olive Garden is better. Save your money and find a different place to eat.
Needs a big time remodel. Has an old nasty stench. Fried mozzarella had a greasy taste. I recommend Chili's for fried mozzarella. Overpriced food as well. I recommend Biaggis in Briargate area. Lighting sucked. Place is way outdated. Owner is a cheap skate for not remodeling this place years ago. Don't come here. Paravicini's is better. You can trust me on that.
