Great food and excellent service. I loved the Baja taco and carnitas. The chips with salasa were great too!
Our first time trying out Bakersfield and we loved it. Our waiter Andrew was super kind and made sure we were well taken care of. We tried the dinner for 2 option which is $26 per person but you definitely get your moneys worth in food. I highly recommend the brisket queso, empanadas, and the Baja shrimp tacos they were by far our favorite. Don’t forget the spicy margarita it had a nice heat but it wasn’t overpowering at all.
What a wonderful little surprised we walked into on our visit downtown this past weekend. It was a Saturday night so we walked in knowing there'd be a wait, we got quotes 40 minutes but they were able to seat us within about 10. Our server was very quick and attentive for as busy as she was. The menu is small but the flavors offered are huge! We ordered a queso for the table and it came out hot and with even more cheese on top than I'd imagined. The chips were typical restaurant tortilla chips, delicious and salty. The queso does have a kick to it, I'd say medium spice level. We ordered tacos and taquitos for the main course and I had to try the esquites ,or elote in a bowl basically, Everything came out timely considering their busy level. Our server kept our drinks filled very well in the mean time. When the food finally came I was shocked both good and bad. The tacos all come out together on a big serving dish though they do put them in the order they were made so figuring which is which out wasn't too difficult. But oh are they small tacos. They use the street tacos tortilla that's about 3 or4 inches in diameter. They did not skimp on the inside though and despite it being $4.5 a taco, you can taste the quality in the ingredients. I ordered 3 to starts, the shrimp , Al pastor and braised beef tacos. They tasted so good and were small enough I ordered 2 more. Everything was delicious and we left feeling satisfied but not gross full from crap ingredients. Will definitely be coming back to try the other tacos. Oh and do yourself the favor, get the esquites and queso and then make yourself a grande nacho with it. Thank me later. ENJOY!
Amazing food. Queso, empanadas, tacos, taquitos. Excellent service as well
Stopped in for a drink and a little bite to eat. The Old Fashion was terrific. The Carnitas Tacos were delicious but I have to say the Empinadas were amazing!! If you are walking by then take a little time to stop in for a drink and some empinadas.
Quite possibly the best fish tacos here in Cols. I have been coming here since they opened over 10 years ago now, and their fish taco has remained consistent. Crispy fried mahi-mahi with tabasco lime sauce, citrus slaw, cilantro and a wedge of lime. Highly recommended!
Randomly decided to go to a bookstore then get tacos on a Saturday night. I miss read the menu and picked this place thinking they had horchata. They do, but as a cocktail. It was delicious anyway. The food was so so good. The best thing ended up being the elote salad. The corn tasted like freshly cut off the cob corn. 5stars for that alone. My only very minor complaint, I wish they had desserts, even if it was only mango and chamoy.
We love the salsa sampler. The environment was real fun! The service was quite attentive. This is a great spot for younger crowd (its loud).
Stopped in for dinner on a Friday night. Only had to wait maybe 10 min for a table for 2 (around 7:30p). We started with drinks and the queso; I had the Espresso Horchata and he had their Old Fashion. The tacos are sold individually. We both ordered 2 and they came out quickly. They are street taco size so we ended up each ordering one more. Flavors were all very good and well balanced. We also ordered the Anejo Marg and the Grapefruit Radler as our end of dinner drinks and to just chill before our show at the Ginger Rabbit next door. My only gripe was the music was really loud. We had to talk pretty loudly across the table to hear each other. For parking, there’s a few places in the area but we choose the deck over on E Lincoln. You can see it from the restaurant only a block over.
Wow these were some good eats! Appetizers were amazing, tacos were unreal. And fast? These guys are super quick and efficient. My old fashioned was off the chart.
Place is always amazing. Bartender was very attentive and drinks were reasonably priced. The chips and queso with the mild salsa were probably the best I've had anywhere in a while. Great ambiance and it was great weather to sit at the bar with the windows open to the street.
I came here with friends on a very busy day. I previously had a bad experience at this location, but we decided to give it a second chance. They stepped up their game and we had a good time this second round. Their tacos, tostada, and dips were yummy, flavorful, and colorful. My favorite thing to order is the queso dip and it is delicious, as always. Our waitress really checked on us, talked to us, and acknowledged us multiple times. She was very friendly and delightful! We liked the variety of tacos you can order, but they're pretty expensive compared to other places. I do recommend their queso, it's what I come for! We got their margarita pitcher and it was strong and refreshing. The atmosphere was chill, but crowded, and loud, and it's a good place for drinks and tacos with friends. I recommend it as a casual date place or a chill hangout place with a group and friends.
The pineapple margarita was fantastic, chips and guacamole..spot on. Tacos... the flavor of the meats used was great, all well seasoned which combined with the fresh toppings was fantastic. The have 1 taco, Cuitlacoche, pronounced whea LA coach e'.., but whatever. It's a sweet corn fungas, hard to find but friking awesome. Service was great.
We came here tired and hungry for a meal after comfest Sunday. Our waitress Ali was great. She got us water right away (we were super thirsty) and was very attentive to all of our needs. The food was delicious. The salsa trio is a must and the yellow salsa was particularly delicious. One of the chefs delivered some of our food and he was also really nice. We complimented the salsa we liked and he shared the recipe and brought us some more. The salads and drinks were solid. I will say I got the anejo margarita which was only a few dollars more, but it had a lot of sour mix so I couldn’t really tell it was a better tequila. My friend didn’t like the fish taco much but all the other ones were delicious. My favorite was the carnitas and I ordered more. Overall a good experience, reasonable prices, and especially great service. Thanks!
Busy Saturday evening. We were seated immediately. Friendly waitress that explained the menu. The food came out quickly and was very tasty. Great Mexican flavors. The guacamole was super good. Very happy with our experience.
Buck is a fantastic attentive bartender. Stopped in after work and a long drive from Canton Ohio for taco Tuesday. Short ribs queso braised short ribs pick up white onion Crema radish case of fresco, delicious. Fish crispy fish Tabasco lime sauce citrus cilantro slaw delicious had to order some to go Baja shrimp with chipotle lime Crema guacamole red cabbage pickle Fresno chive it’s OK the short rib taco nothing to write home about. Top with two shots of tequila a little MØ and some IPA but it was all great I think the pricing even on taco Tuesday for two OK
This is a nice place to grab some Mexican food. It's a little bit Americanized, but for the most part you'll get the staple dishes along some excellent margaritas (with a rotating seasonal flavor). The tacos come in a pretty good, house-made tortilla and some have an interesting flavorful slaw as a garnish. The steak and mahi get my recommendation. I haven't tried any tortas/tostadas, but they offer the same meats so I imagine they're just as good. Service is rather quick once you're seated. All-around Bakersfield is a great place to relax and enjoy some good tacos and margs!
Sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive and thoughtful. This was my first time in Columbus and it was a welcoming feeling. The food was absolutely delicious! Try the tacos and you obviously won't be disappointed!
The presentation of our meal was so beautiful. The service was great thanks to our waiter Libni! Definitely will be back, especially while those strawberry rose margaritas are still in season!
Located in Downtown Columbus OH. Bakersfield offers the Best Shrimp Tacos, Fish Tacos, Short Rib Tacos & Chicken Blue Corn Taquitos in CBus! They have the Largest selection of Tequilas & Whiskey/Bourbons I've ever seen! Be Aware...The Tacos are Teeny Tiny Street Tacos. I could probably eat 4 or 5. Hubby got 2 Tacos & Taquitos; said it was more filling. That's a Watermelon Margarita w a Salt Rim. Do urself a favor & drink it with the salt! Goes down like a summer drink should. I could prob drink 3 of them. But not. They're Pricey at $10. If Cilantro tastes like Soap to u, like it does me; u can order w/out it. I picked it off. Lol Our Server was in Kat & she's Awesome! I met the GM, Heidi and she's Awesome too! We'll Definitely be going back for more!
Awesome short rib queso! I got chicken taquitos & they were great. Sauce was on point. Highly recommend!
We came out to Bakersfield for Pride and Paige was our server 🩷 excellent service, delicious foods, and wonderful margaritas to go!!
Great tacos, margaritas, and service. I started with the corn salad and chips. For dinner, I chose three tacos all based on the recommendations from my server. Authentic Mexican food and very reasonable pricing. Highly recommended.
Awesome fish and shrimp tacos. Try the roasted cauliflower. Best with salsa Verde. Margaritas looked good. Maybe next time.
We started off with The Trio which came with Chips, Guacamole, Rojo, Verde Salsas. For our main course we had Carnitas Taquitos and Chicken Taquitos. The service was great, the atmosphere was fun and the food was great.
I have found my self at Bakers Field many times. The food is fantastic and the ambiance is very nice. They have daily deals so its always worth it to go. I highly recommend the short rib queso, and the taco selection is very good with lots of options. Below I got the chicken taquitos and they were very good. Would recommend to anybody looking for a nice dinner or a good place to drink.
First time coming to Bakersfield. Came with my friend it was her birthday if you want to go out. The tacos are amazing! We bought the Al pastor, Baja and carnitas. And I got the pineapple margarita and she got I think the Bakersfield margarita. Oh and the guac and chips are perfect!! Delish will definitely go back and get more guac and chips and pineapple margarita and Baja shrimp tacos so delish.
Bakersfield is always a good pick when you’re craving tacos and margaritas. Every time I go the service is always awesome and the food is delicious. I also love that the ambiance is upbeat, very clean, and and good vibes. My favorite tacos are the short rib, Baja shrimp, and fish tacos but you can’t go wrong with any of them. Also, definitely get the queso and guac if you’re craving an appetizer. Both are so good! The spicy margarita is also insanely delicious. It is not very spicy but the flavor is to die for. I’ve came here with friends, family, all different times of the week and no matter who you’re with or what you’re occasion is, this place never disappoints.
Great visit! Food was great and service was better! Great selection at the bar, and the knowledge of the products. From Tequila to bourbon a wealth of knowledge.with Ben!
Best margaritas in Columbus. Their tacos are also good and the short rib queso is delicious. We often go here for a margarita before dining at one of the other Short North restaurants.
Very good food!! From Tacos 🌮 to the queso dip nice with just the right spice pitcher of margarita pineapple 🍍 was delicious..and most of all our server was the best!! Kain't remember hurr name.. but I went bak the next day to get more it was very 😋!!
Service was great, food was delicious! I think the tacos could be bigger though and the music volume could be turned down a bit more too. Other than that, it was a good option!😅
My biggest gripe about Columbus is that the Mexican food sucks. And Bakersfield was probably the best I’ve had (or after so long my standards have lowered), but the chips here were good and I forgot to take pictures of my tacos but they were well prepared. Not authentic and you pay for chips but a variety of high top tables on high street, I would return.
Coming from AZ we were a bit confused about the whiskey, tequila, tacos listed on the banner outside but chalked it up to knowing their customer base so we went in & SO happy we did! We didn't have whiskey but did have the "mezcal service" the server was so sweet and polite but had zero knowledge about mezcal and the only service is when they bring it to ur table. Service implies an added feature which there is none, unless it's the orange garnish? That being said it was very good. We tried several tacos, carnitas, shrimp, pollo verde were amazing the batter on the fish taco was more like fish & chip flavor, a bit off, but still good. The Mexico City empanadas were delish too. The place has a great vibe, small outdoor patio in Short North.
Fun place and good food! The atmosphere was great—busy, but not too loud for conversation! A bit overpriced for the small portions, and chips were not free. But, as is expected for the short north, and the flavors were so good. We got a reservation, but the wait didn’t seem too long for a Friday night! Will definitely be recommending to others!
Pretty good taco spot for Short North! The guacamole was so yummy, however, the green salsa was too runny and the red was too smoky for my liking. Their tacos were absolutely so good! The chicken Diablo was super spicy but I loved it. Their mahi and shrimp tacos were also probably some of the better ones we tried! Inside atmosphere was kind of dark, but I really liked their patio seating.
Certainly worth a visit, judge for yourself... Chips are warm, salsas are good, guac not bad. When they say spicy it’s spicy, unlike a lot of places their “hot” is medium at best. The tacos were pretty good, but like in Mexico with similar sized tortillas they aren’t as busy or full, so while I appreciate the portion it’s a bit over stuffed, also it’s not exactly a sit down restaurant on the offset, it’s as much a bar as a taco joint, so it’s a little grungy I guess. That said the drinks while good seem low on alcohol, I can’t imagine the bartender is pinching the alcohol content but was been trained to do so, I’ve seen other comments about it. That’s that!
Thought this place was overrated until I tried the pineapple margaritas. They are refreshing and sweet but not too sweet. The cheese dip & salsa was only okay. Will come back to try the tacos.
Bakersfield has this allure, corner restaurant at the heart of the Short North. I went there for the first time and was not disappointed with the flavors. Their known for tacos however the Milanesa Torta exploded with flavor in my mouth. Highly recommended! My favorite taco was the Al pastor. It was darkly lit and the music was too loud for conversation but overall a great first experience.
Loud faux industrial distressed wood and corrugated steel space that's loud. Delicious margarita and good can if rose ale. Chips made fresh every 2 hours, or so they say, and the guac had lots of large avocado chunks. Tacos we're ok. Seems to always have a wait.
Hipster taco place reflected by the price- ~$4.50/taco, they were almost bite sized. Great location near the convention centre street, gotta give props that they accommodated a large group(10) with short notice phone reservation on the walk over.
Love the tacos. It doesn't take much to fill you up. The margaritas are perfection. Staff a little slow. Received food before our drinks or napkins. Wasn't super busy at the time either. Overall it was an enjoyable experience.
Guys. Try the salsa trio. The orange one that looks like babyfood? Amazing. Best "salsa" i've ever had. The tacos are great but a little overpriced. All and all a good taco spot.
While they were delicious, the tacos are much smaller than similar places for the same or more money. Someone in our group compared them to the size of a coaster. We had a work dinner and people ended up getting bar food later because they were still hungry. Very tasty, but probably wouldn’t go back for the money. If you can catch the half price apps during happy hour it might be worth it.
I am very tex-mex person rather than authentic Mexican style tacos but this place is kinda a miss. Great vibes for a group hang out spot I guess, i saw it getting really busy and popular but the the tacos are not the best ones. Absolutely not a stop for real Hispanic folks. You will not be happy with the foods.
Great presentation of the food, awesome drinks, and excellent service. But the food was pretty bland. The esquite was undercooked and had too much cream, the beans were on the cold side and overcheesed. The green salsa tasted like it had been freshly blended but hadn't been cooked, almost like a green tomato juice. The guacamole lacked salt or pepper or both. The tacos bland. The hot sauce mad onsite tastes like bbq sauce not like hot sauce. One major highlight was the tortillas which are handmade and really nice, and the chips were perfect and had a nice lime flavored salt on them. My margarita was perfect though I ordered it without the simple syrup and it was just right. My salad (the one w hearts of palm) was really nice and fresh. Our waiter was awesome he was a younger guy who was also hosting on a Wednesday night. Good for a group it is loud and fun inside. Just was very underwhelmed by the food itself. A few tweaks this place could quickly become a 5.
The food is great, but the bourbon prices are higher than expected. During our recent visit, they were out of fish tacos, and when I tried to order a second drink (Maker’s Mark), I was told they were out of that as well. Only one bathroom was usable- one toilet wouldn’t flush, and the other bathroom door wouldn’t latch. We usually have a good experience here, so this visit was a bit disappointing.
Nothing memorable. Everything was average. Only stopped in because we were in the area. It's not worth the parking to go. It's plenty other places to go that are the same or better .
The margarita I had wasn’t very strong and I had to order two doubles of patron to make it taste right... the fish was pretty good but stuffed with too much sauce. The carnitas were dry and crispy. I’m a chef and they overcooked them. The ambience and atmosphere is nice and the service was fare.
Unfortunately a total disappointment Order 3 tacos that the server liked (and sounded good) Short rib (tender and FLAVORLESS) Shrimp (horrible) (the worst) Al Pastor (really good pineapple. That's it.) I'm not sure if it was this bad because it was right before closing or because the recipes lack the proper seasoning. The chips and queso were just fine and the drinks were cool though. I like the atmosphere but the food need work...
