Immersed in greenery and tranquility, the hut can be reached on foot or possibly by car (preferably off-road) via a dirt and sometimes cobbled road. The hut is simple and rustic and also has an outdoor area where you can taste the excellent and genuine typical dishes served by the staff with kindness and courtesy. The liqueur produced by them with herbs from the valley is excellent. Play area for children and bowling green, furthermore just 5 minutes on foot you can reach the cross of Sant'Eustichio and admire the wonderful panorama of Como and the lake.

For me the place was amazing! We were surprised with the little house in the middle of the trekking. The staff was so kind and attentive. We took the full menu for 20 euros and it was lot of food, but a typical Italian food, really tasty! I highly recommend!

Monte Croce was the beginning of our descent back in to Como, and was it something special. Well worth the long hike (although the hike itself was amazing, boasting an ancient settlement, replicated Roman farm house...) Absolutely spectacular views - for the rest of our time in Como, I would look up at the cross and think "wow were we really up there!?"

La baita ti trasmette il calore di casa, soprattutto se fuori fa freddo! Ho preso solo un vin brulè ma mi sono sentito accolto. L’ambiente è proprio casereccio. C’erano molte persone a tavola con piatti tipici di montagna.

Passeggiata notturna con luna piena al Monte Croce, sopra Como, nel bellissimo parco: Spina Verde. Salendo tappe a luoghi significativi con lettura di prose e poesie dedicate alla luna. Organizzatore: Pietro Berra (poeta e giornalista) in collaborazione con Teatro Sociale di Como, che dedica quest'anno il fil rouge del suo pgm proprio alla luna.

Molto buoni i due primi e buono il secondo di carne, ottima la polenta uncia 😀... da urlo le cutizzine alle mele, una porzione non basta. Salire su in baita con la macchina si può fare ma comporta molta attenzione (bruttini i tornantini) e pazienza. Bello il panorama dalla croce😀😀😀

Escursione molto facile e tranquilla per arrivare sul Monte croce di Spina Verde, ma con tanti punti storici e archeologici da vedere

Baita immersa nel verde, ci si arriva a piedi o in macchina, anche se la strada è un po’ strettina. Intorno ci sono tanti sentieri e una bella vista sul lago di Como. L’ambiente è un po’ datato, ma piacevole, adatto a famiglie e gruppi di amici. Abbiamo mangiato un eccellente brasato di manzo e un ottimo stufato di cervo. Buonissima anche la polenta uncia. Personale cortese. Lo consiglio.

A very charming cabin, with a 20-minute walk to the inn. You can also drive up, although the road is narrow and bumpy (not recommended). The food is hearty and satisfying, even at a reasonable price. Traditional dishes are available with a tasting menu starting at €23 (polenta, pizzoccheri). Other dishes are also available. There's a children's play area and an outdoor area suitable for families and dogs.

Despite the somewhat gray day with hints of rain, we decided to come for lunch here at the Baita, about 15 minutes uphill from Como city. The road to get there is unpaved and quite narrow, but a 4x4 is easy to get there. The menu is only set at €25, including two courses (choice of a mix of cured meats, pizzoccheri + tagliatelle with mushrooms, rusticiada, dessert not included), spring water, wine by the glass (not excellent), coffee, and a digestif (the "Crocino"). The quality isn't bad... but we weren't thrilled: the cured meats were good, as was the bread, but the pizzoccheri, for example, had almost no cheese and a lot of "cremina" (it tasted like some kind of batter). The service was a bit imprecise at times, but overall it was okay. Pros: the playground right outside for children, convenient parking, and the various hiking trails that start from there (the Croce is just a 3-4 minute walk away with a panoramic view of Como).

A beautiful, family-run cabin surrounded by greenery. Accessible on foot via various trails or by car (but please don't drive... walk a bit), it offers delicious mountain-style cuisine, from pizzoccheri to polenta, various meat dishes, and desserts. Fast service and reasonable prices. There's a small dirt parking lot adjacent, like the access road. The Monte Croce cross is just a few minutes away. During certain periods of the year, heavy rainfall causes a small, picturesque lake to form near the cabin. Also adjacent to the cabin is a small animal shelter and a bocce court. There's also a large green area with children's playground equipment and several concrete picnic tables. If you must drive, be sure to check the pick-up and drop-off times. Weekends are very popular.

I've read many reviews about their slow service, blah blah blah. It's a cabin nestled in the woods and can be reached via a challenging, off-the-beaten-path road...so those who reviewed it shouldn't confuse it with restaurant service. I was personally satisfied, and the kids had a great time. They went on a hike with a panoramic view of the lake and picked chestnuts. The home-cooked food was overall good.

Nice hiking direction, good views. Be careful and wear good shoes because from Como side trail is being flooded by tiny stream.

Take Sentiero no 3 for a stiff steep climb with a delightful panoramic viewing spot close to the summit.

Sono rimasto molto deluso dall’esperienza in questa baita. Dopo essere arrivato con l’intenzione di mangiare qualcosa, mi è stato detto che non era possibile vendermi da mangiare, neanche un un panino, perché la cucina , a detta loro, era troppo impegnata. E come unico tentativo di trovare una soluzione alternativa, mi è stato proposto un sacchetto di patatine. Pessimi, davvero! Adesso, io capisco che posso essere entrato in un momento in cui il posto era pieno e la cucina poteva essere realmente presa, ma il modo in cui la situazione è stata gestita mi è sembrato poco accogliente, soprattutto considerando che si tratta dell'unico posto sul sentiero che fa da mangiare e ci si può arrivare, come nel mio caso, dopo una camminata o attività in montagna, mi aspettavo tutt'altro tipo di trattamento, in più ero da solo, non con una comitiva di 10 persone, non mi sembrava così impossibile trovare una soluzione, neanche il tempo di farmi un panino hanno trovato. Peccato, perché il posto avrebbe anche del potenziale, ma l’impressione lasciata dal servizio è stata tutt’altro che positiva. Personalmente non mi sono sentito benvenuto e difficilmente tornerò.
