Walked in around 4pm (as soon as they opened) on a Tuesday and it was still poppin’! Highly recommend reserving a table before coming. We got the Spanish croquettes, which were heavenly (I was expecting rice in them but they didn’t- much more creamier than expected). Their steak tartare was good, loved the truffle scent and the baguettes were toasted and buttered perfectly. My husband thought it wasn’t anything to write home about, but I thought it was good for my first tartare experience. The cacio e pepe was a bit salty for my taste, but peppered well and the pasta noodles themselves were perfectly cooked. (I like my pasta al dente, fyi)
The coolest spot for a cocktail with friends in Uptown. The service was great and the drinks were even better!
We are visiting from Orlando and were recommended to come here, Josh was our bartender and was amazing! He made the best drinks, gave the best recommendations, and was so helpful when we asked for recommendations on what else to do while we are in town. Customer service 10/10. Atmosphere 10/10. Drinks 10/10. Will be back to try the food!
I must admit, Bowen House is a place I visited the first time thanks to the referrals of others, but it’s quickly become part of my layered evenings. Around for years, the best of Dallas, enjoy Bowen House for its fabulous food, cocktails, and incredible ambiance. Coming from Florida, Bowen house could easily be a swank restaurant/lounge on Key West. The 19th century structure, offers the most intimate of spaces, and decor, both inside, and out for your enjoyable moments, with friends, family, or a date. The rear of Bowen House offer’s a very cozy private cove with its own posh bar. If asked, I’d describe Bowen House as, Bourbon friendly! Intimate, classy, diverse, and waiting on your visit! See you at one of the bars! Xoxo Lorenzo!
My favorite cocktail bar in Dallas. Gets busy, so recommend getting a reservation or going early, but even if you have to wait, it’s worth the wait. Talented and caring staff, who are happy to make things off the menu to your liking and give you suggestions based on your taste. Escargot are my favorite food menu item here.
The back car is cool, custom cocktails, based on what to like. It can be slow, depending on who is bartending back there.
Update: Went back and followed the advice to request custom drinks, and it was phenomenal! They really nailed exactly what we were looking for, even as our requests got oddly specific or very abstract. The classics we ordered were the best versions of them I’ve had (perfectly made and probably using higher quality ingredients). The food was great, especially the cacio e pepe. The service was very attentive even though it was busy, and I appreciated getting all our questions answered. It was as educational of an experience as it was enjoyable. This experience has solidified Bowen House as my top cocktail bar in DFW. Can’t wait to come back again! Original: The menu was creative but every drink was way too sweet, even the most spirit forward ones
This beautiful restaurant with delish food and wonderful service made our anniversary dinner super special. I absolutely love the room! We started the evening with champagne and had the sea bass and steak. Both were so tender and juicy. Along the way, service was impeccable with several staffers wishing us a happy anniversary! Really great!!!
This is our second time back! And it was even better than the first time. The service from Cindy in the cloud room is unmatched by any restaurant or bar in the city of Dallas. The overall experience conducted by the manager Daniel created an experience and an atmosphere that we were obliged to return to. The quality and taste of the food is incredible to say the least, absolutely unrivaled. The cloud room (request reservations) creates an atmosphere and an experience that is not only intimate for you and your guests but personalized to your liking. Not enough words can explain the sheer gratitude for discovering this place. I implore you, no I encourage you to visit the Bowen House! Tell Daniel and Cindy that JC and Jackie sent you!
Bowen House: A Cozy Gem with Exceptional Negronis and Tasty Eats! I recently visited Bowen House and was thoroughly impressed by the warm ambiance, attentive staff, and delicious food and drinks. The Negroni was a standout, expertly crafted with a perfect balance of flavors. The beet and fig salad was also a hit, with its delightful combination of sweet, tangy, and crunchy elements. All in all, Bowen House is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates a great Negroni and tasty, well-prepared dishes. I can't wait to go back and explore more of their menu!
Stopped by the Bowen House for a few drinks with my co-workers as we’re in town for work. The Bowen House was absolutely spectacular… Their atmosphere, drinks and service were all fantastic. Our waitresses name was Kat, she was awesome and went out of her way to take great care of us. I will absolutely be coming back next time I’m in Dallas!
Love the atmosphere and history of this place. The food is delicious and we didn’t have a mediocre item on the menu. Very impressed with their cocktail menu, because I always enjoy a good mixology experience. Our bartender Chris was so attentive and helpful on helping us choose drinks and food. Great date night spot and patio!
Love this place! The drinks are good and service is friendly
Avoid Midnight Rambler—Head Straight to Bowen House Instead! My group and I had a terrible experience at Midnight Rambler (Located at the Joules Hotel), so we left and went to Bowen House instead—and what an incredible decision that was! From the moment we walked in, the customer service was outstanding. A huge shoutout to Josh B (Manager/Host at the door) and Lorenzo D (Bartender) for being absolutely exceptional! The entire staff was efficient, organized, and genuinely welcoming. The ambiance was perfect, the food was top-tier, and the service made the entire experience unforgettable. If you want to be treated with respect and enjoy an amazing night out, skip Midnight Rambler and go straight to Bowen House. You won’t regret it!
This may be one of the best bars I've been to ever.... and I've traveled around quite a bit. The location is within a historical old building. The aesthetic is dark, sexy, and plush. The bartenders are friendly. There's even a fireplace inside. Definitely worth a stop so grab a reservation!
What a beautiful experience!! I came in for drinks and had one of the best experiences I have ever had!! Manager Jorge made me feel extremely special!! He’s a manager but feel free to ask him to make you a specialty cocktail form his portfolio!! Even if he is busy, he will stop what he is doing to make your custom cocktail quickly without breaking the bank!!Bartender Abby was just incredible!!!
I love Bowen House ♥️ I will always recommend this place to anyone looking for an intimate night. The food is delicious, the cocktails are so so good. The ambiance is simply incredible. I am moving out of state soon and didn’t want to leave without giving this place the 5 stars it deserves, if not more.
I stumbled on this bar blackout drunk once and have came back many times- Best bar in Dallas, period. Get a reservation for the backroom - makes all the difference.
First time visiting per a friend’s recommendation. We walked in early evening on a Saturday without a reservation and the host was kindly able to seat us in the back room for a drink…but I’m certain we got lucky (so be sure to make a reservation!). Really cool atmosphere — the back room is smaller, darker and moodier. The front of the house is much brighter. The drinks were excellent! Looking forward to coming back.
I moved to Santa Barbara, CA about 2 years ago from Dallas (my home), and I've been contemplating moving back and one of the reasons is the damn good burger they have lol. Literally THE BEST I've ever had.
I have been coming here for years- it’s one of the my favorite places in Dallas! Do yourself a favor and get the fried Brie and thank me later. Everything about Bowen House gives the best impression. Quaint, sexy, fun, incredible vibes, and the service is next level. Our server Cash felt like a friend I have known for years!
I visited Bowen House on a recent trip to Dallas searching for a quick meal and happy hour. The happy hour food was great and perfect for sharing. The cocktails were delicious and refreshing as well. The staff and the service honestly made the experience. We sat with Cash who was extremely knowledgeable about the menus, welcoming and kind. I have shared my experience with local friends and have recommended that they order the croquettes and olives and to sit with Cash. I can’t wait to visit next time I am in town!
Jorge and Emma made our night, they both provided excellent service and Jorge created amazing cocktails for my friend and I.
Love this amazing place ! Vibe is great. Music is nice. Wonderful staff. We’ll be back!
If you’re looking for the most unique bar experience, please try this place! LOVE the back room, where you can tell them a drink vibe and they make it from scratch.
If you're looking for a cozy spot to hang out with a small group of friends, I’d totally recommend this place! The vibe hits you as soon as you walk in—it's got that upscale, moody feel with dark leather furniture and chill lighting. There’s music playing in the background too—personally, I thought it was fine, but my husband found it a little loud. The drinks? Amazing (I got the banana's foster cocktail). Super creative and really well-made. That said, the menu is a bit tricky to navigate—lots of unfamiliar ingredients had me Googling left and right, which got a little overwhelming. But shoutout to our waitress Andrea—she was awesome. I threw a bunch of questions her way about what I like and what I was in the mood for, and she gave some spot-on recommendations. She even mentioned the bartenders could mix something custom if I had a flavor in mind. You can tell they really know their stuff. It’s definitely on the pricier side—we spent around $80 for four drinks including tip—but honestly, with the vibes, the top-tier service, and how good the drinks were, it felt worth it. One quick suggestion for the owner: maybe tweak the menu a bit to make it more approachable. Something like, “If you like X drink or Y flavors, try this...” would’ve been super helpful. Just a little user feedback!
Didn’t have reservations but got a nice spot for two at the bar. Definitely date night vibes. Bartender was a pro and we enjoyed all of his recommendations.
I was in Dallas for business and visited this place. Loved the food, the drinks were superb. Service was great and fast. The ambiance is great. It has a few outdoor seatings.
Went for the first time on a Monday evening. Everything was fantastic from the service to the ambiance and the food! We had the ahi tuna tacos, the shrimp thermadore, and a sandwich (I forget the name) with mortadella, giardiniera, and provelone cheese. So good, and will certainly return!
1) The vibe and ambience is amazing if you’re looking for chill, cozy, quaint, and classy. 2) we got the escargot and pommes dauphin and both were delicious! Would highly recommend either! 3) We only tried three cocktails but all of them were fantastic! Old Fashion, Boulevardier, and Let The Good Times Roll! Staff was also really great to us. I very much appreciate this place!
Excellent all around!! The food was absolutely delicious (truffle fries were probably the best in Dallas) and the cocktails/service were top notch even during a very busy Saturday evening. The vibes are super cozy, highly recommend a reservation! We will be back soon 💗
Had an amazing evening here. Phenomenal food and drinks! Abby was super knowledgeable and made a superb cocktail. Will be back for the hospitality and ahi tuna tacos!!
Bowen House is a small cocktail house in the uptown area of Dallas. WE were excited to try this place as we had heard a lot of great things about it. We came during their happy hour and had a great time. We started with the spanish croquettes which were good; however, I would maybe get a different appetizer like olives next time. We then got the power move and gemini freezer martini which are both happy hour specials. Both drinks were well made and well thought out. I would come back again to try more drinks from here. Of note- I would recommend calling to get a reservation because it can get busy here and there is limited seating.
I had a great experience here. Limited parking and limited indoor/outdoor seating. Upon arrival we were put on a 2 hr waitlist but seated in 30 mins. The staff are extremely kind and take care of their customers. The service was fast. The food came out approximately 10 mins after we were seated. I enjoyed the food a lot more than expected. I especially enjoyed the fried Brie. The drinks are good as well. I would come here again.
The atmosphere was wonderful. Loved the vibe in the back room with all the clouds on the ceiling. Our bartender was amazing, very attentive and made great cocktails.! We didn’t eat there but the next time I’m in Dallas it’s on my list to come back to try their food
Wow. Drinks are amazing here food is incredible! My favorite drink is the get bent.y friends and I always start off with the fried Brie and steak tartar with extra bread because we always need more. My favorite dishes are the burger and pasta! So good. The deserts are the the best. We’ve tried a handful and the one I’ve like most is the tiramisu.
Summary: Fantastic Bowen house is one of Dallas's best restaurants... no question. Atmosphere: Super chill and vibey inside. It's small and intimate so it's perfect for a party of 2-4. Food: Super impressed. The first time we went, we had to try as much as we could: the tartare, escargot, and mushroom toast were all super solid. For mains, we both got the cheeseburger. Let me tell you, this might be the best cheeseburger I’ve had in Dallas. It’s definitely up there. We came back three separate times just to get the cheeseburger, and the place is open until 2 a.m., so it hits perfectly after a night out. 10/10 food. (Note: last time we were there, they had off-menu chicken tenders that were insane.) Cocktails: Awesome. nothing more to be said
Great experience! This place is super nice and has a great ambiance. If you want the best setting, make a reservation for the back room which is a whole different experience. Their drinks are amazing, and their food is good but a little expensive. I got the tuna tacos which were good but nothing crazy. I also liked the fried brie as an appetizer. My friend got the burger, which he said was really good, so maybe next time I would get that. My overall experience was great!
10/10 recommend Bowen House! Service and vibes are awesome, especially if you’re able to snag a table at their back area bar. Sydney our bartender was awesome. Her service and music playlist choice is immaculate! She made me a Passionfruit Paloma which was ahhhmazing. I had 3 of them :)! If you’re into tequila cocktails, order the Passionfruit Paloma.
Wonderful experience! The bartenders are unpretentious, personable and knowledgeable. We tried a myriad of cocktails, all of which were nicely balanced, interesting concoctions. We didn’t try the food, but we will definitely be back again! Of note, they do have a happy hour until 7 PM!
The staff was incredible. I was with my loved ones on 10/12 Sunday. i forgot our servers name but He & She were great at customer service and the cheese breads and the old fashion drinks were spot on. Highly recommend
AESTHETIC. VIBES. CRAFTSMANSHIP. HOMEY. Pedro was my outstanding bartender. I sat at the bar and had the burger w/ fries. The burger was terrific! It was anything but small, too; no funny business just a straight-forward great burger. I had my go-to, Sazerac, first and then a gin drink from the menu that was also terrific. Finally, I asked for something spicy, and that's where Pedro really showed off. If I wasn't already going back, that drink would've done it for me. If I had a date night I needed to orchestrate, this would be high on the list to patron.
I had the best cocktails in Dallas at Bowen House so far!!! They are absolutely delicious. Weekdays from 4 to 6pm, they have a very nice happy hour menu that you shouldn’t have missed. My favorite from the drinks I had today is Silly Rabbit ( I love gin based drinks). Would definitely come back for more different drinks and foods. Apart from the drinks, the decor, the vibe and the service are all extraordinary:) Highly recommended!
How have I never been to Bowen House until now??? The vibes here are absolutely immaculate! It’s the perfect mix of an upscale bar and an old-school New Orleans speakeasy. The dim lighting and the overall aesthetic? Next-level. Getting a spot inside was borderline impossible, so we had to work some magic to score a table in the back room bar—honestly, I think I liked it more than the main area. The bartender in the back was super cool, and the drinks? Not only some of the best in Dallas, but genuinely some of the best I’ve had in the US. I’m already hyped to go back. Bowen House is a must-visit if you’re into great cocktails and an unforgettable atmosphere!
The ambiance is almost as tantalizing as the amazing drinks! Bowen House takes you on an upscale rode to somewhere new and hip. Whether you're just in the area for a cocktail, snack or meal; you'll find what you're looking for. Inside & outdoor seating allows you to enjoy this not so secret-hidden gem. 😉
Didn't get food here, but this is a great spot for cocktails. Super moody, intimate, and feels like a little secret because it's so small. Service was great. The drinks were unique and really well made, perfect for a low-key nightcap.
Perfect place to socialize. Only thing that bothered me was eating at the bar. People will be right on your shoulder while you eat. They're drunk and you can smell their breath and asked me a million questions about the food. If you eat make sure you're at a table. However I had a great time.
Just got back from the restaurant and I have to say it is fantastic. From the gentleman that escorted me to the bar b/c the dinner reservation was full, to the bartender that knew how to make drinks but was so himself and genuine and attentive! The DJ played hip/classy/jazzy music. Beautiful decor and vibes! Thank you for making NYE especial, I will be back:)
Very good vibes and atmosphere. Loved the tartare! One of the best I’ve had. No notes. The cocktails are very spirit forward and delicious. The suit and Thai is unique and tasty. They were super busy and still accommodated us when they didn’t need to. This is definitely somewhere I’d frequent if I lived in Dallas!
2 friends and I were finally able to snag a table in the private back room where we had heard that they’ll make you a cocktail based on whatever you like - needless to say it lived up to the hype. We recognized Mad at the bar from a previous Bowen House resy earlier this year in January and she is so much more than a bartender—she creates an experience. The whole vibe felt almost like stepping into an apothecary, where every ingredient has intention and every drink is crafted to perfection based on what you say you like. After we shared our preferences, she absolutely nailed it and mixed cocktails that completely blew us away. Her intuition, creativity, and personality made our late night dinner and drinks unforgettable.
Located in a beautiful historic building Bowen House serves both food and drinks. I only went for a cocktail though. I got there around 730pm on weekday night and the place was packed so if you plan to visit Bowen House better book a table. I only managed to get a standing spot. Service was quick but as it was very busy the barmen didn't have time for chitchat. The cocktail list has something for everybody. Was a bit hard to read the menu as the place is quite dim. I opted for The Senator. The drink was very fragrant and had more bitterish flavours....I liked it. Bowen House is a place to go when you want to go out with friends and are looking for vibrant place for drinks and dinner.
Orin and the team behind the bar delivered A+ service and cocktails. I was able to see the place grow from no one there at opening to a packed house inside and out and it was truly special. The staff having a good time and the elegant management team ensuring everyone’s experience. My first time but not my last. PS: the crudite dish was outstanding in freshness and plating. Thank you Bowen House.
I LOVED Bowen House! I came here for a peaceful night after work to read for a bit and check out such a unique, historical spot! I LOVED IT! The cocktails were delicious and unique — I loved the London-themed cocktail (served in a teacup)! The wine selection was also great! I had the ahi tacos (my first time ever trying anything like them) and after that, I started eating them more often because Bowen House’s was so good! The employees were very friendly and helpful, and fun to chat with! The ambience both inside and outside was lovely and unique. I say and enjoyed the late summer night outdoors, but the inside almost won me over! Highly recommend for a nice night out!
Our waiter at The Finch recommended Bowen House and it did not disappoint! It was extremely loud and busy when we went, but we were immediately put on the waiting list and were seated before our drinks came out. The cocktails were excellent - espresso martini was heavier on the espresso flavor which was great but the bitter lemon soda was SO refreshing. Lorenzo was our primary bartender and he was levelheaded and organized despite the chaos and some *slightly* impatient customers. The drinks were a bit more expensive than I’m used to but it was such a cool location and great quality that I think it was worth it
First things first, let's address the parking. If you see an empty spot near the restaurant, grab it, as parking is limited in this area. If you have a large party, call and make a reservation. The space is small and cozy and it fills up quickly due to the restaurants popularity. One of my favorite perks is that Bowen House offers happy hour seven days a week from 4-6. The happy hour consists of red, white, and sparkling wine, several cocktails, as well as food items. I highly recommend the cheeseburger with a side of fries. Great service, delicious food and solid drinks. I'll definitely be back!
Visited this cute spot to celebrate a birthday! It’s a house that’s been converted into restaurant. The ambiance was on point and we celebrated in a private room in the back. The decor is beautiful, the low lighting is sexy, and the private room has clouds painted on the ceiling. It was perfect for the number of guests(10-12) and we were all able to converse without competing with everyone else in the restaurant’s conversations. The food was great as well and you should check out the Tuna Tacos. They’re an excellent choice! It’s a great spot for date night or gathering with friends.
We just had an amazing experience tonight! We sat outside and the weather was perfect. It is so beautiful out front covered with big trees. We loved so much about our experience but to start off the cocktails are to die for. Every drink we had was a 10. The food was also delicious. I had the burger and it did not disappoint. Overall this was a perfect restaurant experience and feels like a local secret.
Bowen House: Always a Vibe! Bowen House is the go-to spot for a late-night experience, where you can enjoy a perfectly cooked steak at 12:32 a.m., a sophisticated Sidecar mixed by one of their skilled bartenders, or a beautifully crafted Negroni alongside a double cheeseburger and fries that even the pickiest eaters will love. Although it had been a while since we visited, we found ourselves back in this part of Dallas and were reminded of the great atmosphere. The crowd is lively, mixing and mingling, while the staff does an excellent job managing late-night walk-ins. The servers remain friendly, even when the place is packed! Parking can be a bit challenging, but if you'd prefer to avoid street parking, there's a self-parking lot tucked behind Bowen House with an attendant. We paid $10 and felt more at ease leaving our vehicle there, as the lot is well-lit and clean.
You ever go somewhere and find nothing wrong with the place? Bowen House is that place. I mean I just tried the place today, and I’m already planning my next visit. The food & cocktails…AMAZING. The service…also AMAZING. Then the coziness and intimate interior…AMAZING! Seriously, I’m here for it all. I came here with a coworker for happy hour, and we both truly enjoyed ourselves. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The happy hour menu is great. Happy hour is between 4-6PM. Everything on HH menu is less than $10, except for the shrimp cocktail, which is $15. For drinks on the HH menu > Get the POWER HOUR. If you’re not a mezcal fan, don’t let the mezcal scare you. I hate mezcal and this cocktail was so good, I got two. The passion fruit is amazing in this. For the food on the HH menu > Get the SPANISH CROQUETTES and THE CHEESEBURGER. Yes, the cheeseburger is a double patty and it’ll make you smile. Think of a very fancy Big Mac, very good! We decided to get one item off the regular menu. We chose the Fried Brie, which was also lovely. The blueberry with this is perfect and it’s served with bread, the bread is freaking good. I’m excited to come back to this place. Also, if you’re thinking of going, make a reservation
Super intimate restaurant/cocktail bar set in a historic house. The food and drinks were all so delicious and service was very good. There's an incredible back room that has a separate bar and is a little more intimate. Definitely recommend calling to make a reservation otherwise you might end up waiting a while due to the small size. They also have happy hour every day from 3-6 which is a huge plus!
Great craft cocktail bar off the beaten path of McKinney Ave.. This place is a gem.. The atmosphere is great, the food is very good, and to top it all off the drinks are absolutely amazing. Happy is from 4-7 daily, which includes very good priced drinks. Since the place is small, make sure to get there early before the rush. I would recommend place for starting a date to break the ice or to get that last drink of the night for a night cap, just pick your poison. 😃
Nice place to enjoy for lunch, dinner or late night. Reservations are recommended as they tend to be busy. The food is very good and cocktails are okay but they will make cocktails to your desire. Nicevfor dating, special romance and first dates. Very nice atmosphere! Prices average 9.00 a cocktail and 16-20 per entree. ENJOY!
There is very limited space and it is super dark! The food is pretty good but expensive. If you like that sort of thing you’ll enjoy it.
my first time trying bowen house, and i’d like to come again just to see if the food is any better. we tried their tartare and pasta, and while the tartare was a little salty for my personal taste, the pasta just came out undercooked and bland, but maybe it just depends what time you go? id like to try a burger next time just because the atmosphere and service are A+. my cocktail was super tasty though!
I had a 6:45 reservation, for 3, to celebrate our friend's birthday. We were greeted by our server with a bad attitude. We ordered cocktails and appetizers. Before we could order dinner, we were informed another table was coming in and we had to leave. This was 8:10 . We were never informed of any time constraint. It was a Wednesday evening with no wait for a table. Needless to say the evening was ruined. Horrible tacky service. Inexcusable, really.
My husband and I visited this establishment last night. People especially my people of color beware. I ordered a Dirty martini, Miller lite and mixed cocktail with a mountain of ice. The bartender with red curly hair decided to make the mix cocktail that look like a snow cone with the use of her bare hands yes her bare hands. She began to whisper rudely with my being able to hear her to another gentlemen with glasses about she is not ready to put up with this tonight. While ordered a Dirty martini I did not want the first one because it was just sitting at the end of the bar for everyone to reach over so I asked for it to be discarded while I paid did not ask for my money back paid for another. Again, the bartender woman with the red curly hair made it with olives then I asked for two more olives she gathered them out of an empty glass another customer had and proceeded to give them to me. I am reporting them to the health board. This is utterly disgusting!!! I was in the establishment November 21 2025 over into the am. I hope the owner see this review. I sat at the bar around 105am watch your cameras we were the only black couple there.
Walked in around 4:15pm and they sat us down right away but they did say we’d have to leave by 6pm for a reservation. The only time someone came to our table was when a server was cleaning the table next door and asked us what drinks we needed and we gave her the order. Waited about 15 min for a different person to stop and hand them to us. At 5:10 we figured we waited long enough for someone to ask for our actual dinner order so we left cash for the 2 drinks and just left. They were busy ish but most tables outside were empty but not so busy if they could sit walk ins so I’m not sure why no one ever came to take our order. My point is, waiting over 45 minutes just to never be acknowledged or asked for an order or even if we wanted another round of drinks is ridiculous.
