Easy parking, was seated in a timely manner, friendly waitstaff, pleasant atmosphere, and excellent, tender and juicy chicken and waffles. Probably the best I've ever had. Low price for the quality of everything. Definitely will go again.
Great diner on Beckley Ave that serves both breakfast and lunch. The breakfast tacos and Migas are outstanding. Loved the potatos served as a side. Service is very good. Our server checked in on a regular basis and kept our drinks filled during the meal.
Get the chicken & waffles! Or, any waffle on the menu, you can't go wrong! The chicken breast is as big as the waffle! Definitely get the gravy, even if it's on the side. Trust me on this, I don't even like pepper gravy... it's that good! The cheesy grits passed the baby taste test! And, the Malimosa deserves 12 stars!! Love the vibe & the service is always great!
Visiting for the state fair, wanted something local before heading back home and stumbled upon Jonathon's Diner. Wait was supposed to be 30 mins, we waited 10 at most. Ordered and got our food in another 10 minutes. Fastest food I've ever experienced in a busy restaurant. Every table was taken! Service was great, checked on us enough but didn't hover (exactly what I like). Portions were much bigger than anticipated! Flavor was on point 🤌🏼 Pork sausage was a little too greasy, but that's the only thing "negative" I have to say. They even cooked my egg exactly like I wanted (you'd be surprised how many places don't know how to make over medium eggs). I got the Fried chicken & Biscuit 10/10 Highly recommend and will be back!
Went in right after rush hour @2pm. & the staff was great from walking in the door. Service was excellent!. Nowwww let me tell you about that food 😋 Lorddd it was delicious! I didn't get a before pic " the presentation" of the food was fabulous though. Ohhh but the taste, SCRUMPTIOUS 💯. I had the Danger Dogs, Cheese grits, & 2 eggs "scramble". Everythang EVERYTHANG EVERYTHINGGG was delicious. The danger dogs are pancake mix dipped turkey links & the batter was just right. It's served w/spicy mustard. I ate it with the mustard & syrup 😋. I give the entire experience a 1000!
Amazing hospitality & atmosphere! The food is phenomenal, we had Andie as our server he had great recommendations and was very attentive!
Chicken and waffles were a hit. Lots of pepper in the gravy good for me but a little much for my Life. I got the a pile of potatoes eggs, bacon and sausage smothered in Tabasco gravy pretty spicy but delicious. Atmosphere is happy and every clean place to enjoy brunch. Thanks for the experience. And dont forget the Bloody Mary bar!!
Andy was the best server I’ve ever had. My friends come here often so when we grabbed brunch today, they knew to ask for Andy. Best customer service, all around great guy. Loved the Oreo muffins, corn dog appetizer (not pictured), fresh coffee, chicken and waffle, and the peanut butter jelly time waffle. Will be back again. Go early because there will be a wait for this delicious food.
The atmosphere is so comforting. They have outside seating as well. They told us to sit anywhere that was open. The menu looks plain and flimsy but the food was exceeding expectations. I have a picture of what me and my friends ordered. I got a big waffle, bacon, eggs , potatoes, and 2 sausages for $10!!!!!! Chileeee. The food came hot and fast. I say about 5 minutes. The orange juice is freshly juiced as well. Love love love. Customer service: 10/10
When we arrived we were immediately seated. Our waiter was friendly and got our order correct without writing anything down. The fried chicken and waffles as you can see is HUGE! BUT WAS MOIST AND DELICIOUS! The waffle was the think batter that I don't care for not like the airy Belgian waffle type. So the waffle was not good. Overall nice local chill environment.
Was skeptical about the gravy seeing that I don’t like anyone’s gravy but the gravy mixed with the syrupy on the chicken and waffle was different but pretty good. Plus their Menu has options for those who don’t like Pork also. Will recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice fulfilling meal for a nice buck and a nice drink.
The food at this place is fantastic! The staff are really kind and helpful. They made my mom’s birthday really memorable for her and I’m very grateful.
This place is one of Dallas's hidden gems. Located in oakcliff this small restaurant packs big service and great food. I will definitely go back and everything was fresh. Our server Ronaldo was very pleasant and attentive. It was around 8 or 9 a.m no crowd, easy in, easy out.
This was our first time here and when we arrived there was a line to get in. But we were seated within 15 minutes even though we were told it would be about a 30 minute wait. I had the chicken and waffles and it was delicious and the gravy was perfect. The coffee, mimosa and the poinsettia drinks were right on point. We sat outside and it was really nice. They played a nice variety of music and the staff was great.
✔Off our bucket list✔💯 Customer service=💯 Wait Staff💯 Cleanliness💯 Menu has a great selection 💯Pricing💯I guarantee your eye's will be hungrier than your Stomach.💯💯Absolutely delicious food. The portions are Huge!!! I'm glad we finally made it.💯 Our 3rd time trying to get in & we made it with no wait time. The key is make an appointment, get up early & be there before 11am. After 10am alcohol can be sold & it draws the attention. Loved everything about it. Thank You Jonathan's Diner for a wonderful customer experience.💯💯 And to the reviewer who said it's to pricey is way off. Dude did u even look at your plate??
Andie is the best! I come here every Monday just for him. As someone in he industry I appreciate how attentive he is! Great food and even better hospitality!
Went on a Sunday around 11:00 a.m. the line was not too long you were put on a wait list we waited around 20 minutes and we're asked if we wanted to sit outside or inside. The weather was perfect they bring you a glass of water to start with. Looked at the menu online. So many options. We ended up getting the berries and waffles pork chop and eggs country Benedict and Orange juice. To our surprise the orange juice was freshly squeezed. Wait time for food was not long we waited for about 10 to 15 minutes. The country Benedict plate was scrambled eggs and bacon over an English muffin with homemade gravy poured on top with a side of potatoes. Pork chops and eggs with scrambled eggs and potatoes and toast. Berries and waffle was so delicious the waffle was soft and the fruit was sweet and the cream was so delicious. Not too sweet everything was well balanced. This is a brunch location so after noon there is a longer waiting time but this location is definitely worth it. They are following Covid precautions when ordering they give you the option if you want plastic or metal utensils as well.
I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a plate of chicken and biscuits that truly hit the spot. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside, with a golden-brown coating that locked in all the juices, making each bite tender and flavorful. The seasoning had just the right balance, with a hint of peppery spice that didn’t overpower the natural flavor of the chicken. The biscuits, on the other hand, were soft and flaky, almost melting in my mouth with each bite. They had that perfect buttery taste, with a light, golden crust on the outside and a pillowy texture on the inside. Paired together, the combination of the juicy chicken and the warm, buttery biscuits was pure comfort food at its finest. I think the BEST part about my experience was the $5 mimosas!! I will definitely be coming back again!
Delicious fried chicken and waffles. That's all I've had and I would definitely return. Chicken breast was thin and crispy and served piping hot. Gravy was peppery and flavorful and the waffle was light fluffy and just right. Everything was seasoned just like I like it. We were there on a weekday mid morning and sat at our table catching up for a long time and the service was friendly and efficient and left us alone until we were ready. Don't know her name but she was sweet and took good care of us and refilled coffee whenever we were ready. Cute spot- bar seating, booths and tables. Good place for breakfast.
Andie was amazing! Loved the hospitality and enjoyed his energy and good vibes. I would definitely go back because the food was awesome! Continue doing a wonderful job Andie. I will definitely be back to see!!!
I loved our experience here!! My husband and I went for lunch, and we were not disappointed. We only had to wait 15 minutes, which was totally fine since we expected there to be a wait on a Saturday. The food was delicious!!! 12/10!! My husband got the country fried steak with eggs, and I got the biscuit and chicken. We can't wait to come back for lunch and try more dishes! 😋
Jonathan's Diner in Oak Cliff is an absolute gem! I had the pleasure of trying their chicken and waffles, and I must say, they were sublime. The perfect balance of crispiness and flavor left me craving more. As if that wasn't enough, I also indulged in their 'big breakfast'—a hearty spread of crispy bacon, perfectly cooked eggs, golden potatoes, and fluffy pancakes. Every bite was a delightful explosion of flavors and textures along with great service. It's evident that quality ingredients and culinary expertise are at the heart of their dishes. If you're in Oak Cliff and seeking a memorable meal, look no further than Jonathan's Diner. Highly recommended!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had a great experience at Jonathan’s Diner thanks to Andi. From the moment we sat down, he was welcoming, attentive, and on top of everything. He made sure our drinks stayed full, checked in at the perfect times, and kept the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. You can tell Andi takes pride in his service. He’s professional, friendly, and genuinely makes you feel taken care of. Great attitude, quick service, and overall just solid hospitality. If you’re at Jonathan’s Diner, definitely ask for Andi — he’ll make sure you’re good.
We had an amazing experience at Johnathan Dinner, all thanks to Geo. From the moment we walked in, the service was top tier—attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Geo made sure everything was perfect, from recommendations to timing, and kept the whole table taken care of without missing a beat. You can tell he really takes pride in what he does. Definitely the kind of service that makes you want to come back. Ask for Geo when you go—you won’t be disappointed.
The food was comfortingly delicious, with all the classic American diner dishes done right. I had the classic cheeseburger, and it was juicy, flavorful, and served with crispy fries on the side. The milkshake was thick and creamy, just the way I like it. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere had a warm, nostalgic feel
Absolutely love this spot! Our server Andie made sure he took good care of us as well as others. Great service, great knowledge, amazing experience. Definitely coming back
Stopped for breakfast waiting for weather to pass, I usually have no issues clearing my plate and was full with about 3 bites of pancakes remaining. Highly recommend visiting here. Service was great and food arrived quickly, hot and delicious 😋
Great experience. Had the chicken and waffles and it was delicious and a super large portion. Our waiter Ray was very kind and made great recommendations. Definitely will be returning to eat here again. Wish it was closer to where we live in Mansfield
I have come to this place multiple times and have just taken too long to write my review, I truly apologize for that. This place is awesome and has been every time I have visited. My husband and I absolutely love this place and it is our number one go to place. They know exactly what we want to drink as soon as we come in and we are always treated with a warm smile and hello. The food is absolutely amazing, kudos to the chefs...not one time have they disappointed. Huge portions and decently priced. The drinks are great too. Everyone on the staff is welcoming and upbeat. I will continue to come here and refer anyone I know to come here as well. Thank you for being a good old fashioned family place to eat and enjoy.
Went on 8-3-25 for brunch. We were seated in about 10 minutes after we got there. They have great food options. We had the chicken and waffles, pork chop and eggs with a side of cheese grits and brunch potatoes. The chicken needs more seasoning on the crust but the gravy made up for that. (Great gravy). The pork chop was seasoned very well and the glaze on it was very flavorful. I really liked the cheese grits. You tasted that creamy taste in every bite. The drinks we had were the Earnest Palmer and the lemonade. Both were good. We wanted more lemonade but they were busy and that's ok. Overall the atmosphere is a good brunch atmosphere. We'll be back.
Our family went on a Friday morning around 9:30 and it was pretty busy, but we had no wait. The service was quick and friendly, the portions were large, and the seating was standard. Our food came out very quickly, but everything was crispy and delicious. The waffles were perfectly crisp, the bacon was thick cut and crispy but not burnt, the fruit was fresh, and the chicken was moist and seasoned. Seems like anything would be a good choice on the menu!
Great food, great environment, great prices, prompt service, friendly, and very easy to find. One of my favorite breakfast spots in all of Dallas.

I haven't been to Jonathon's in years since they have moved locations but the food tastes just as good. Big servings for a reasonable price. Also service was moving well for it to be so crowded. If…
Stop next-door to get my car washed and saw this little cute building behind the car wash we went over for breakfast. Food was good. Service was great restaurant were super clean.
Visited Jonathan's with my sister for brunch. We were greeted as soon as we entered. The server was amazing and prompt. I ordered the chicken fried steak with the Mailimosa- chef kiss! I loved the …
Not vegetarian friendly for breakfast and definitely not for vegans...stick with Spiral diner. The wait was insane this place is crazy busy. I would only go if you have hours to wait. I was extremely disappointed that they dont have an up to date paging system for customers you have to keep going to the host stand to ask if they called your name...that is insane. I know this restaurant has made enough money to contact their guest that their table is ready. The staff is mediocre as for as hospitality. They seemed stressed out. They were not rude but not the friendliest people. They did wear their masks and require that the guest wear theirs as well. The food is ok. I loved the pancakes. I would say this place is for carnivores and an easy going vegetarian. I dont know if I would ever wait in line for hours outside for the food again. Definitely worth going if you eat meat and like cute little drinks.
Cute! Great location! Went on a Sunday afternoon and had to wait for about 30 to 40 min. Our server "Mal" was very sweet and attentive. Ordered a "Malmossa" which was created and named after our server! It was so good! The wait for our food was longer than expected but the food was hot when it did arrive. Looking forward to returning again.
Picked this place based only on the reviews. We went at 11:15 on a Sunday and had about an hour wait for a 2 person table. Inside was pretty crowded and we definitely got skipped in the list by a few tables that came in after us. They have a nice outdoor seating area, but it was only being used for people waiting to be seated inside. Would have loved to sit outside, but oh well. The food was amazing though. I got the chicken fried steak & eggs which I can’t recommend enough. The mimosas were well poured and they had a little Bloody Mary bar as well. There’s another little restaurant right next door that people who didn’t want to wait we’re going to. Didn’t seem to be any wait there at all and they had outdoor seating. I’m pretty sure I heard the hostess tell somebody that they had the exact same menu as well.
Great tasting food! Good mimosas & bloody Mary's. The servers are always friendly, but the lady who checks you in always has an attitude. I'm guessing it is one of the owners but no excuse for the attitude as the first person you greets you. I have visited this location several times so I'm used to it but for someone coming in for the first time I wouldn't like that experience.
Very good brunch place. It’s usually packed, and they don’t do reservations but we were lucky to get there before it got super busy. So we waited for only 5mins to get a table. I got the chicken and waffles and they were really good! My boyfriend got the pork chops and that was very good too. The pork chop was nice and juicy, and so was my chicken. The brunch potatoes were a little undercooked but were still pretty good. Also, the malimosas were great, quite a fun twist to a regular mimosa. Overall good place, we’re coming back again!
The business was busy as we walked in and something about who would serve which table came into place, but we were served and treated with respect and honesty. The food was very satisfying, so hats off to the chef and it wasn't a long wait for food either. If I visit again, I would consider going back.
Loved the atmosphere. We ordered and portion sizes are big. I think if your typical not a big eater. Sharing food can be an option. As far as taste everything was okay. I ordered chicken fried steak, cheese eggs, and fried potatoes. The waiter was pretty cool and order was accurate. I would like to go back and try other items on the menu.
The food was good. Chicken fried chicken is not bad. It could've used more seasoning. Potatoes weren't cooked fresh. Maybe it was just bad timing. The restaurant temperature wasn't cool. Maybe AC issues. Someone passed out on their way to the restroom. Don't know if he passed out from the restaurant being warm or if he had other issues. I hope he feels better. It took forever for the wait staff to get a cold towel to help cool him off. We asked like 4 different times.
So we got here it was a 30 minute wait to be seated. We were sat in the patio It took our waitress Melissa 10 minutes to come introduce herself and then another five minutes for her to bring back our waters. Upon bringing the waters she explained that she had wasted some of the waters and that’s why it took so long but one had something floating in it and the other had something red on the outside of the glass. We told her and since she was on the patio she just hurled the waters on to the fence line. Seemed a bit aggressive but she eventually took our orders. While we waited we noticed that when the wind would blow it smelled like sewage. Not a very appealing smell when you’ve come to eat. It took over an hour for our food to come out and when it came out it was just warm… after an hour wait I expect hot food but I didn’t want to wait another hour so just went on and ate the food. There were 7 people in our party and my husband’s food didn’t come out right away with ours but his waffle did. 10 minutes later his food came out and she apologized stating she had dropped it so she asked them to make it fresh. We understood proceeded to ask for silverware we watched her come out with another couples food before she ever came back with silverware. My husband grabbed his own silverware and she said she was coming right back. No one likes cold food. We then proceeded to ask for butter and syrup and again another five minutes or longer before she brought those items. She was just very scattered brained everyone has bad days though. Do I think she was worth the 18% gratuity No but our party was large so I understand but when the service doesn’t match the tip it becomes unfair. The food was pretty tasty all things considering. All in all loved the food the service was subpar and the wait was excessive.
The food was great! The juice is freshly squeezed! We arrived an hour after opening on Saturday and got seated right away because there was just two of us. The only reason I’m giving this place 4 stars rather than 5 is because of the space it’s self and the service was slow. The building is kind of old which isn’t that big of a deal. But we sat by the window and it was very dirty. The whole place kind of gave off an unclean feel. Now about the service it was still great service! It’s just that it was extremely busy so they didn’t have the staff to handle the capacity of people they can seat. are we choose only stopped by a couple of times. An example of slow service was I asked for a refill and was done with my food and was ready for my check before they brought it to me. I think if I ever come back to Dallas I would order the food for takeout from here.
I’d definitely give the food 5 stars! I had the migas and had a hard time finishing my meal. I think I only ate half, so you definitely get a good value for the portion of food. They also had great breakfast staples. The staff was very friendly and chatted with us before they got busier. I do have to subtract a star because a lot of our silverware was dirty.
Our group got the nooner burger, a regular burger and the country Benedict and it was sooo good! 4 stars for food just bc the sweet potato fries were a bit stale but the potatoes were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Gravy 10/10, service quick and friendly. Also surprisingly great latte too, don’t usually expect yummy coffee from diners that don’t specialize in coffee but theirs was very good.
Line out the door greasy spoon diner. They are known for their chicken and waffles. Though the star is the actual waffle (I'm not a waffle person). The chicken has a satisfying crunch and the flavor is excellent, albeit a touch dry, which is where the peppered gravy comes in. "The Kure" is a hefty smothered biscuit, it is a lot if food. Service is appropriate for a high volume, diner/ dive. Quick paced, warm and well intentioned. There is a wait for a table as early as 9am. This is definitely a "local" experience.
A nice American brunch spot. It is located in a cute and charming house. The servers are attentive and friendly. We had the Migas which were good, but we loved their Fried Chicken and Waffles — so I would recommend giving that a try. The only thing I found strange is that they don’t make Bloody Mary’s during the week, but they have all other cocktails?
Great food. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The chicken and waffle is amazing. The danger dogs have an elevated breakfast corn dog feel. They have a Bloody Mary/Bloody Maria bar so you can make your own drink according to your personal tastes. As a person who like a lot of spice and a little tomato juice, this is perfect. Weekends it gets very busy. If you arrive before 10am you'll have a much higher likelihood of getting a table with little to no wait. Arriving after 10 means you'll have tk wait anywhere from. 15mins to an hour for a table. There is outdoor seating as well is if you want to brave the Texas heat. Free Parking is limited tk be prepared to walk a bit or pay for parking.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The staff here is always so friendly and helpful. Waffles are made so soft but have a good outer crunch. The pancakes and eggs were very well cooked. Kinda disappointed about the sausage bc they didn't feel like they were cooked all the way but they were and it was just a weird taste. The house burger is HUGE and with the side of fries that are seasoned nicely tastes so good. The all in one waffle was a big shock when it came out and the spice was a surprise but is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!
Jonathon's Oak Cliff is a nice little restaurant that serves pretty good but slightly overpriced food. They have indoor and outdoor seating which was nice with that said the indoor seating arrangements are quite cramped and claustrophobic. Our waiter in particular wasn't all that great and we were a little dissatisfied with the service we received but I did take note that other tables wait staff were a bit more attentive to their sections so I won't hold it against the restaurant. The highlights of our meal where the french fries, the country style potatoes and the biscuits. Honestly I don't know if I will ever revisit Jonathan's butt I think yes I would recommend you giving this place a shot especially if you're into Southern Comfort Foods. Why four stars and not five: a lack of attention from our waiter (Mostly) But also due to the fact there is no good place for a person to wait out of people's way while waiting for a table to become available. *Poor *Decent *Good *Great *Best *JLFoodie Certified Food. Good Service. Decent Cleanliness. Good Consistency. N/A Value. Good
A crowded restaurant is often an indication that the food is good. While Johnathan's dishes were quality, chicken fried chicken was tender and had a nice crispy batter. There was little to no seasoning. Not flavorful at all. The waffle was soft 👎🏾 My daughter had the danger dogs. Which are pancake on a stick with turkey sausage inside. She really enjoyed... The overall atmosphere was lively and I'd give them another shot!
Reviewed this restaurant from google and knew I had to check them out. Parking is scarce however if you know how to parallel then your good. First impression of interior was very warm, welcoming, and peaceful. Staff was very nice! We will be back next time we’re in Dallas. ❤️ Edit: reply to diner: Correct. There is regular parking which all those spaces were taken. In the back are 3 parallel spots. I was like okay let’s show my skills. Lol. There is no problem here. Great restaurant just tight parking lot.
Our 1st time trying this local breakfast/burger spot & we absolutely loved it! When we walked in the greeter wasn’t the happiest person on the planet but she’s was full of information regarding our wait time before & after ordering…which we appreciated. Ended up waiting only 10 minutes even though the place was packed. Our server, Sydney, was very prompt, personable & really took great care of us. I started with the pineapple Mimosa & ordered the Chicken & Biscuit. The biscuit was a yummy peppery taste & went so well with the peppery gravy & potatoes. The egg & arugula added that extra peppery goodness that sealed in the taste for the entire eating experience. The chicken wasn’t as tender as I would have liked, but then again, I’m super picky. I would definitely ordered this dish again because is was delish! My hubby had the Nooner Burger with sweet potato fries. He said it was full of a LOT of meat & loved it! Very filling! I tasted his fries & they had a wonderful seasoning on them. The helpings are huge & we both had enough leftovers for a 2nd meal. The 4-star is for the cleanliness of the floor…even though I understand it was probably due to the constant flow of a packed house. We’ll be back because the chicken & waffles looked amazing as the hostesses passed our table with it! Plus I have to try some of the other tasty looking dishes!
Visited on Father's Day 6/16/2024 around 11 am for brunch. You cannot be seated until your whole party is there and ready, so keep that in mind. 4 stars is because our server was extremely slow ( it took about 10 mins after ordering a mimosa to receive it). One person in our group had to wait for her food while the rest of us had our plates, so that's another reason. The food is good, though. Prices are decent. First time trying this place, but not sure I'll go back. Parking is limited also so scared how it would look super packed. See my pictures. Follow my adventures
It's was a great time the food was excellent enough to take some back home. Our server indie was fantastic, super, attentive and accommodating. Definitely recommend!
Great Food and friendly people The service was quick and the food came out quick as well I also ordered 2 mimosas that were def heavy handed The only reason I didnt give 5 stars was my first plate came out had a hair in it but the waiter was very apologetic and made sure my meal was taken care of.
Great place! Large portions and relaxing atmosphere. The chicken fried chicken and eggs over easy, delish!

Chicken salad was good. service was fast. waiter was a little annoyed I wanted to change my cheese to Swiss and I saw her making fun of me but other than that overall the food was good.
Small cozy diner. Friendly fast service. Decent prices. Pecan maple cold brew was pretty yum! Private parking at back.

Food is always good. I love the chicken and waffles but all their food is good. The staff is cool as well.
Good food and service! ambiance is traditional diner style. I've been here a few times and will definitely be back.
Decided to come here based off of an impulsive decision. IHOP was the other option. NEWSFLASH PEOPLE, go with what you know. I don’t understand why this place is so overhyped. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and they only sprinkled a tiny bit of gravy for a steak that covered the whole plate. He asked for more gravy and was told that it would be a $3.25 upcharge. We weren’t paying for something that should’ve been on the plate already….nobody wants to eat a dry chicken fried steak. He also ordered pancakes that were undercooked and doughy. (We sent those right to the back) As for my order, the eggs were DISGUSTING. I like to call myself an egg connoisseur and I know when eggs are just not made right. They were rubbery, fried hard, and bouncy. Eggs can make or break a good breakfast for me and it definitely broke this one. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and add salt, pepper, choloula AND tobasco, ketchup, and syrup, but these eggs tasted like straight up garbage. Besides that, the brunch potatoes were ok (after putting salt and pepper on them) and my pancakes were alright. IHOP would’ve satisfied us more. Sorry Jonathon, but we’re not coming back! TRIGGER WARNING: DISGUSTING EGG PHOTO
food was so good & i loved my latte. my server barely talked to us just pointing at things the entire time and running away before we could fully order /: the host was also very unwelcoming almost throwing our menus at us. but seeing the way the other servers were interacting with guest i think it was just the specific server WE had. would try again with a different server and hopefully the host is having a better day
Food was ok, I got the chicken fried steak. Supposed to have won all kinds of awards but honestly it was kinda bland and the gravy was... different. The service wasn't horrible once they got used to us but we came at 2 and they close at 230 and it felt kinda hostile and got the feeling the staff weren't happy to see us. We still got out the door before 230 but it would have went much smoother if someone would have just took our order first thing and welcomed us. The cooks were griping in plain view, staring us down. Service definitely needs some work. I've been wanting to come here for a long time and it was not as good as I had hoped. Definitely wont be added to my list of favorite places.
They have a great selection of alcoholic brunch drinks. The meals are very large you will be taking some home. We got there at opening on Saturday. They are very busy. You should expect a wait. My food was cold when received but still tasty. The pepper gravy is nice and spicy. Overall a solid place for brunch due to the drink selection
Nice breakfast outing with my best bud. Loved the area and liked that it wasn't a big establishment. Seated promptly and I believe our servers name was Matt and he was PHENOMENAL! Friend had the chicken and waffles with eggs with cheese. She didn't finish either saying both were very bland even after adding some salt and pepper to it herself. I had the salad which was fresh and the waffle with bacon and gravy and whatever else was on it lol. Not a bad little combination. The pineapple mimosas were SOOOO good but soooo little lol. Not a place I would just jump to go to but not bad.
I was craving chicken and waffles so found Jonathon's diner. Chicken was bland only thing good about it was the breading. Waffle was great and sweet. Chicken friend steak was over cooked and flavorless. Potatoes were undercooked and hard. Gravy was awesome but barely saved the meal. Overall I had high expectations and left disappointed.
Food was decent. I had the burrito with turkey sausage and seasoned potatoes. Both was flavorful. Mimosas were good. My boyfriend had the PB&J waffle, eggs, bacon and toast. He felt the bacon was lowkey mid. He wasn’t in love with the eggs but says the waffle was fire. Food didn’t take forever to come out. Bf felt the waiter could’ve told him that he was going to get so much bacon and could’ve checked in us more.
We were seated immediately. Our food came out super quick. I enjoyed the Kure, I also ordered the breakfast tacos which were not anything special. The atmosphere is really kinda boring so nothing to brag about there! But the Kure is literally what I have got both times! Also on Sundays can’t get mimosas until after 10 am so we didn’t even get to enjoy mimosas on the last day of our girls trip 🙄😂
Came on the weekend and it was packed. This was our first time coming and we came in excited since this location has been recommended numerous times. Hostess was not inviting or welcoming at all. My partner ordered the all in one waffle and he was extremely disappointed. It was our fault for not reading that there was something in the item my partner did not like. We ended up, leaving without even eating it, and they didn’t try to exchange it or have any consideration for us or at least acknowledge our disappointment he just showed us the menu and said there’s no modifications. Our waiter was attentive but not inviting. Just over all disappointed, will not be coming back. At least our Belgium waffles and eggs and bacon were good
Jonathon’s had been on my list since I moved to Dallas. It’s a local favorite, so I was glad to go. Unfortunately, I wasn’t blown away. The service was mid - it wasn’t as welcoming as I’d expect from a diner. It kind of felt as if they were indifferent about serving us. The atmosphere is fine, it’s what you’d expect from a diner. It was small and quaint. Now for the food, it was decent. They give you hearty portions and the flavor is okay. I ordered biscuits & gravy (I was quite disappointed - this is my favorite breakfast dish; it was brown gravy and the seasoning was off), eggs (delicious - they were cooked perfectly), grits (amazing — I could’ve filled up on them alone) & turkey sausage (not good at all, the texture wasn’t the best). I also had margarita. My total was around $30. I think it’s worth a try, but I don’t know if I will try again anytime soon.
My first time at this location. It's been a while since I've visited and I was excited. In the past the peanut butter and jelly (strawberries and blueberries) waffle. The berries and the peanut butter fluff were amazing. Well there was no fluff. More like peanut butter crumbles. Not even close. I barely ate any and asked the young lady what happened to the fluff. Her response really didn't answer me nor did she address my concerns. Paid my tab which included a takeout order and left. Very meh kinda experience. Wouldn't recommend this dish. Very little peanut butter flavor despite the name. Don't know if I'll return and try another dish.
For the quality of food and taste, I would want to give 4.5 stsr but I think so food is not the only thing we go for when we step out of our house to go to a restaurant. My experience stated with very unhappy host/attendant, she barely cracked a smile and from the moment we walked it she was doing us a favor by even adding our name to the list and if felt like making a mistake to ask how long the wait would be. For a cold Sunday morning she did not bother to ask that if I would want to seat outside or I would be comfortable inside. Then we waited for over 45 minutes by the street/outdoor seating, and I am not exaggerating but 40 minutes out of the 45 1 table on patio was open, 2nd table got free within another 5-10 minutes and another 2 tables were free for almost another 20 minutes before I got one of those tables for me. The worst table management I have ever seen. I know you have good rating and you don't care about people waiting but to be so careless to have bunch of people waiting, to see open tables but no one would care about cleaning them and circulating them. When I stepped inside before getting a table what I saw was almost everyone in the bar area, so they are not necessarily short of staff either. Then we ordered our drinks, along with super slow service, they are very short tempered as well, answer to "would you recommend screwdriver" can not be it has vodka ans orange juice, I know that because I can read that. Took almost 25 minutes to get coffee after asking 2 times, etc etc. I always seek for a place that offers service as I feel it's most important part of the experience. I would go back to a place if service is good but I was not that happy with food but not other ways round. Anyways, I would not recommend the place as well as not go back to see frowning faces, unnecessary long wait and slow and unfriendly service.
The thinnest chicken and waffle i have ever seen, last time I ordered it was a whole chicken breast, this was like chicken jerky. The last time we came to this location i was served rotten sausage links and they gave us free coffee in exchange. The waiter response was "maybe the chef had a bad night" it was approx 830 am they had barely opened, You're fired, Normas is now full time breakfast spot.
Food was meh, mine was a little cold. I got Migas. Lady sat us in the smallest booth ever. Vague smell of weed. Better places to brunch.
Over an hour wait, service and food took awhile causing us to be there for over 3hrs on a Sunday afternoon. Chicken and Waffles were overrated, they looked like the would be great but the chicken was so bland with no flavor to it at all and the waffle was just as plain. Definitely not worth going back.
The food was literally just ok. I had ordered the all in one waffle and sent it back because I didn't like the taste of it (but that's just me). I ended up splitting the meal with my wife which was the chicken and waffles. The waffle fell apart so easily which is a bad thing and the chicken wasn't all that seasoned. No where that we would go again. Our waiter also seemed like we were getting on his nerves asking him to do his job.
Went to this place on a Sunday for brunch and it was pretty crowded. The location is fairly small although I overheard a few other guests say it's much bigger than the other location. After about 50 minutes, we got seated (party of 6). Once the food came out it looked fantastic but it tasted just okay. Luckily my girlfriend's meal was free because the bartender dropped a hot plate of chicken and waffles on her lap. We might have caught them on a bad day but the food wasn't worth the wait.
HOLY BLACK PEPPER BATMAN!! I give 2 stars because this was my first time there so I hope other things are better than the extremely peppered biscuits and gravy. Like I have never ever in my life seen this amount of pepper is biscuits yet alone the gravy. I know traditional sausage gravy has pepper but not to this extreme amount!! I mean I don’t even know why someone would do this to scouts and gravy. The biscuit would have been a good biscuit but the black pepper I don’t even know who where why when or what gave someone this idea but this was by far the worst attempt a biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had. I’m sort of a connoisseur of the southern classic biscuits and gravy it’s totally my go to breakfast jam. And this place had it all wrong. See for yourself in my pics and if you go unless you like black pepper so much you can eat it by itself I wouldn’t get this dish! I mean look at the amount of black pepper in there it’s completely overwhelming it’s all you can taste so much it’s black pepper spicy. They need to search this recipe for a new one!!! I’m curious if anyone has enjoyed this peppered platter??
Can’t lie. The food was GOOD! But the Customer Service was HORRIBLE. My waiter got my order wrong. Not a problem. However, the young lady who brought my food had the WORSE ATTITUDE I had experienced from anyone in a long time. She’s very lucky I didn’t get her name because I would post it. You mess up my order and YOU have the attitude?! Make that make sense! She is the reason I will not be back. The older lady at the door wasn’t any better! I mean I can understand good food, but BAD SERVICE is enough for me NOT TO RETURN. Y’all can have it!
We’ve visited Jonathon’s countless times over the years, even back at the old location. The food has always been consistently good—we always order the same thing. However, during our most recent visit, I was extremely disappointed by the experience. The older woman with the short haircut at the front door was surprisingly rude and abrasive, which is not what you’d expect from someone in a hostess role. It was also frustrating to see empty tables while people were being made to wait to be seated, especially when the delay was simply due to one person still parking the car. Had we not driven so far as part of a surprise for my husband—who used to love this place—we would have gone elsewhere. Our server was friendly and helpful, but unfortunately, the first impression left by the hostess soured the entire visit. It honestly felt like she had no real investment in the business and was more of a liability than an asset. If she is affiliated with ownership, that’s even more concerning. What’s also telling is that Jonathon’s doesn’t respond to reviews with complaints. That’s a clear sign they don’t value feedback or care about improving the customer experience. It’s incredibly disheartening to spend your hard-earned money at a place and walk away feeling like your presence was a burden. Sadly, this will be our last visit. There are plenty of spots to get chicken and waffles with far better service. ✌️
Do NOT eat here. I use to love it but once you find a cockroach in your food it's all over!! Shows how downhill they have gone.

Our server wasn't knowledgeable about the food choices. The server kept forgetting to bring items asked for. The cheese grits were disgusting the chicken sausage I didn't like . I heard so much about this place and I didn't like it at all I'd rather go to Mama's and daughter's
Sucks to have to leave a bad review especially because the waitress was super friendly & attentive. I ordered a side of eggs & cheese and mid plate, I found a HAIR in the eggs. Waitress was nice and apologetic & removed it from our bill. We continued eating and finally towards the end, I noticed our water cups had LIPSTICK stains around the rim!! So disgusting. Keep in mind I never drank out the cup only through a straw & I wasn’t wearing lipstick. Will never come back. Sucks because the food was good but just super unsanitary. No cooks were wearing hair nets/ beard nets.
