I’ve lived in 3 different places across Texas and this small barbecue place is the most peaceful, and the food itself is absolutely delicious. The staff were very welcoming and the atmosphere is peaceful so you can enjoy just how tasty their food is. Pictured here is the brisket sandwich, HANGRY baked potato, and the Texan sandwich, all of with a definitely recommend!
Food was incredible and was matched with just as great service! Highly recommend the brisket. It fell apart with the fork and cooked to perfection. If you are looking for a no fuss delicious BBQ place in downtown Dallas, this is the place for you.
Amazing bbq food! Service was great and they got me as I walked by and could smell the meat cooking! And homemade peach cobbler was unreal!
Warm southern hospitality meets food that literally falls off your fork! The smell is devine, the taste is amazing, you won't be disappointed!
If I lived in Dallas,I would eat here AT LEAST once a week. The food, service, and atmosphere was amazing. This place is the full package and my family is picky about BBQ! A must try!
We were visiting from out of state and found this cute BBQ restaurant nestled in the heart of Dallas. Service was amazing and quick with many recommendations and kind conversations. Walkable from almost any hotel in downtown Dallas. Definitely a place to go when in Dallas. Will be back the next time we're in town!
I finally tried Moak’s Family BBQ and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The brisket was tender, juicy, and had that perfect smoke ring with real mesquite flavor — no sauce needed (but theirs is great too). The ribs were fall-off-the-bone without being mushy, and the sausage had a nice snap and seasoning. Sides were just as solid — creamy mac & cheese, flavorful beans, and fresh potato salad that actually tasted homemade. Portions are generous and the prices are fair for the quality you get. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the whole place had that real Texas BBQ atmosphere — casual, warm, and family-oriented. If you’re craving legit barbecue and not chain-restaurant BBQ, this is definitely a spot worth coming back to. Easily one of the better BBQ places in the area.
Exquisite local flavored Beef joint, I quite like the way they built their Beef Brisket Burger, it has a unique aroma and charm to it, and I find myself liking it more than Wagyu burgers from Japan! Theirs is a family recipe developed and refined over the years, a very exquisite culinary take on the American Burger! Definitely recommend to beef burger lovers, and come try their Beef as well, it’s a unique gastronomic experience, and definitely saving this bookmark for future trips!
Wow!!!!!! We really enjoyed this place, just a few minutes walk from our hotel. Tried almost all the offerings here, the stand outs were the brisket and “Texas Torpedos” - bacon wrapped, brisket stuffed jalapeños. Sides were so good too- Mac & Cheese was great!!!!! Definitely coming back to try the baked potato!!! Service and staff were lovely!!!
Save yourself the headache of Dallas Convention Center food that is overpriced, underwhelming, and requires waiting in long lines. Jump on the red or blue DART rail to get dropped off at the front door is this BBQ gem instead! We came on a Saturday during FanExpo at the convention center, and it was such a good call! We made great time (between sessions) and left full and satisfied. It was so so good!!
We were a trio from Tyler, Texas, that came up to do a lunch after taking Amtrak. We decided on this place because of its close proximity to the train station and the west end Dart stop. I called ahead as I had a member in our party that required wheelchair access to the facility. They let us in through the back door ramp kindly so we were seated. The place was empty as we got there right around lunch, but it started to fill in. Everything was clean and on point. The staff was very attentive. Everything was nicely presented from the condiments and sauces that were sitting out the drink fountain everything was clean, fresh, and they aimed to please and did! We cleaned our plates of half chicken and fried okra jalapeño bread on the sausage sandwich was what we thought homemade or definitely locally baked. The rib sandwich was also good. The onion rings which I thought would be more housemade but they were good. I just wanted a little more crispier batter. All in all, we had a great experience, and we all three agreed that we would return.
I had a bit of a layover in Dallas and decided to head over to Dealey plaza. After walking around for a little bit, I wanted a bite to eat and this place was conveniently located. It was good! The brisket was the most tender meat! Alejandro was a friendly host/server. I left a very happy and full customer.
First, it may not be the fanciest place, but def is one of those where you can prob try every single dish and be happy you did. You get both Quantity and quality at a great price. It is one of those best bang for your buck in town. The orders came out quick and The service was amazing. I will def comeback and recommend it to friends and family.
Moak’s is a fast and convenient BBQ chain which stands out because most BBQ places we’ve been to have long lines and high expectations. We were already in downtown Dallas and wanted something quick and easy and Moak’s definitely fits that bill. There’s some pretty cheap street parking just down the road, otherwise parking may have to be by lot, especially on busier days. There’s both indoor and outdoor options, we sat indoors with our dog which was nice to be able to do. The indoors itself is pretty standard for BBQ places, no frills and there’s nothing wrong with that. The only strange thing is that to get to the bathroom you have to go downstairs by elevator. The bathroom itself is rundown and just adds a strange feeling like you’re in a completely different building than the one you entered. We ordered their 2 meat and a side combo plus some cornbread. For the meats we ordered their brisket and turkey and for the side we got mac and cheese. We wanted the sweet corn but they were out unfortunately. There was also some confusion as we wanted the cornbread to be our side but it auto charged us separately for it so we paid for it and also ended up getting the mac as a side since we had already paid. The brisket was good, a nice bark and salty flavor to it. Honestly it was better than some other BBQ we’ve had, the turkey however, was meh. It was a bit tough and bland, but not bad. The mac and cheese was nice, a good creamy texture to it. The real star was the cornbread. It was soft and buttery, a good contrast from the dryer turkey. What Moak’s boils down to is good, quick BBQ; something that is kind of an oxymoron when you think about the smoking process. The location is centric to many things and the price was pretty reasonable. If you want some good, quick BBQ in the downtown Dallas area then this spot is for you!
came here on a day trip into dallas. Justin was extremely helpful when I was struggling on what to order, he had amazing customer service. the food was okay. personally we were not a fan of the cheese that was used in the sauce and the texan sandwich, i also think they could've added some coleslaw or smth in the sandwich so that it wasn't just bread and meat.
As far as Texas BBQ goes, this place is not it. The brisket was moist but very fatty and bland. The jalapeno sausage was very good. Turkey was bland. The mashed potatoes were bland, no gravy, nothing. Literally just a mashed potato. Cornbread was cake, not actual cornbread. The Mac n cheese was very good but it would've tasted a lot better if I didn't have to go up to the counter near the end of my meal and ask for it, and they didn't believe that I paid for it so I had to wait for them to look up my ticket and verify that I did indeed, pay for an extra side. Much better BBQ in the Dallas area that I would go to before I came back here.
The sausage looks like it’s been microwaved. The brisket looks horrible. This is not Texas bbq!!! You should change the name. Theres no ice in the machine and the tea was just water…not the experience I wanted. I was catfished by the reviews. Over priced and over hyped.
