Came here for lunch recently (Feb 2026), and I was very impressed with the food and quality. Koi Palace is a pretty renown and famous Chinese restaurant, and I was impressed by the food selection and the ambience. This Koi Palace has been around a long time, at least since the late 90's, and they have plenty of awards and publications to show for it. In terms of atmosphere, it feels more old school than the new/modern type of dimsum restuarants. But ultimately, what matters most is the quality of the food- and it was good. The friend duck, the noodles and lobster, the dimsum and seafood was excellent. Usually a restaurants quality shines the most for dinner- but the lunch was surprisingly good and filling. We went during a weekday lunch so it wasn't as busy- but I'd imagine this place would be quite busy on the weekend, so plan ahead. Enjoy!
Amazing Chinese restaurant I’ve ever visited in Bay Area. The portion of every dishes is outstanding and super tasty. There are many big tables for the groups of 4 to 12 people. Definitely will come back to enjoy more Chinese cuisine here! 🤩👍
I like the food here. Recommended for others. If you are looking for King Crab or Good CHinese Food, KOI Palace is the place you should give a try.
🥟 I visited Koi Palace in San Francisco for dim sum, and the food was absolutely delicious. Every dish we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and well made, especially the dim sum, which really stood out. 🥟 The restaurant does not take reservations, so we arrived early to get a number and waited for a table. I noticed that smaller groups were seated much faster than larger groups. 🥟 After tasting the food, I completely understood why this place is always so busy. 🥟 There is a large parking lot, but it gets very crowded on weekends, so be prepared.
We were a group of nine. This restaurant is very accommodating for large groups. Great to order dishes and make use of the very large "lazy susan" in the middle of the table. We had more than a dozen dishes on the menu with a few vegan offerings. All dishes were hot, very tasty and pleasantly served and very appealing to the eye. Tea and water flowed evenly and the servers made sure to always refill the carafes. Our waitstaff were very friendly and always very helpful. It was very crowded but the facility space was open and I never felt crowded when eating our meal. Large parties were already gratuity included. Double check. It was quite noisy so conversations were a little impaired. But otherwise, a wonderful time was had by all.
Koi Palace has been a cornerstone of my family’s dining experiences for over 25 years. From intimate gatherings to milestone celebrations, this restaurant has consistently delivered impeccable Chinese cuisine and warm hospitality. Tony, the longtime host, has always been wonderful in helping us organize countless family parties. This evening, we celebrated my mother’s 80th birthday, and the experience exceeded every expectation. Ricky, our host, ensured the evening ran smoothly with gracious service and attention to detail. Each dish was outstanding: delicate dim sum staples like har gow and siu mai, the crisp and flavorful roasted duck, roasted suckling pig, the smoked sea bass, the honey walnut prawns, Hong Kong style crab and lobster, tender lobster noodles, and the signature baked BBQ pork buns that never disappoint. Every plate was presented beautifully, served hot, and bursting with authentic Cantonese flavors. The chefs deserve high praise for their culinary excellence, and the staff went out of their way to make my mother feel celebrated with birthday wishes and warm smiles. Their care created a memorable evening that our family will treasure. Koi Palace remains the gold standard for Cantonese dining in the Bay Area—authentic cuisine, exceptional service, and a true sense of tradition. Five stars without hesitation.
Excellent fresh seafood and very very tasty Cantonese style food in a nice setting. Dishes arrived very quickly and dishes have their unique and wonderful flavors. Service staff is excellent. We had fresh shrimp she staff changed our plates multiple times to keep everything clean and fresh in order to enjoy other delicious food. This is top tier service. Thanks 🙏
Download Dinfo app to reserve one day or two hours beforehead; otherwise you have to wait for one hour. Tips / service fees are 18% included by default and please pay attention to that! Tips are written as extra tip. 2025 update: still favorite dim sum nearby. Koi Palace offers delectable dim sum featuring a variety of highlights like steamed beef balls, shrimp dumplings, crispy cube tofu, and steamed shrimp rolls. The flavors are exquisite, but the noisy environment may affect your dining experience. Plan to arrive early to avoid queues and parking challenges. The Discover card is NOT supported :(

First time visiting this place, I got the recommendation from friends. The ambience is spacious with authentic Chinese food items. The duck was fantastic as well as the noodle and dim sum items. The place is a bit outdated, but I'm excited about the new location opening soon.
The honey walnut shrimp was very good! The breading was thin and the shrimps were juicy and not overcooked. The sauce had traces of acidity, i am guessing from lemon juice — very much needed and often neglected in many honey walnut shrimp dishes. The baked cod was very good! This recent one was a tad overcooked. Thankfully because the cod had a high fat content, it was more forgiving, otherwise it would be totally dry inside. The marinade worked well, so was the dipping sauce. The lobster noodles were spot on! The lobster was cooked perfectly, so were the noodles. The sauce for the noodles was not too much, the noodles were perfectly soft. The beef cubes were excellent! The beef were cut a tad too big. The sauce worked, and was aromatic and semi sweet. The mushrooms and other veggies worked great to give the dish its vibrant color. Found a shrimp with the intestine still intact. Some inconsistencies here and there. I have been here many times.
The food is pretty nice. There is no dimsum if you go in the afternoon though 😢 Soup is great and service was good. The environment is okay with fish swimming in the middle. They do automatically charge you 18% for service fee so don’t double tip! Also…for weird reason it seems like the fish in aquarium are dead 😨

I can't help but feel a little sad from our most recent experience here at the koi palace. It's customary for the place to be extremely busy, there's nothing wrong with that. It does seem like the atmosphere and the quality of the food has changed since going through the pandemic. I recall when we would order chrysanthemum tea and it would be loose leaf tea with big flowers steeping in the pot. Now it's just a simple tea bag. There used to be tons of waitstaff driving around carts and you could pick from items that were brought directly to your table. Now they make you order everything in advance, it's nowhere near as fun. The bathrooms were really really dirty and fairly run down. I suspect they're not making any improvements or refurbishments to this location because apparently they're opening a new location close by. Maybe we'll try the new place and see how that one goes
If you want to avoid a long wait, either make a reservation or come on a weekday at lunch time. Parking is fairly easy, there's a free parking lot out front as well as in neighboring areas. Service was not good. The table greeters were great to get our drink orders but the server didn't grab our order ticket until 30 minutes after we were sat. We left it right at the edge of the table too. Food took a while to get out to us and while the flavor of the food was great, some of the items were cold. Our server never came back to our table, not even to give us our check, which we also waited a long time for. Thankfully, the hosts took care of processing our bill. I don't expect stellar service with a smile at restaurants but at the very least, check on your tables.
Still quite popular after 30 plus years, Koi Palace offers upscale and expensive Cantonese dim sum and seafood dining near Serramonte mall. Dim sum is one of their claims to fame, but I found the wrappings too soft and they fell apart when picking up a dumpling with chopsticks. Perhaps they added too much water to the four mix. Picky. The savory dishes were sweet, and the sweet items were too sweet. The recessed lighting and darker atmosphere adds a little sophistication, compared to the bright white LED lighting you find in most Chinese restaurants. The central dining area has nice lighting and higher ceilings. The area off to the side has lower ceilings and makes the noise level very high. Everyone has to yell to be heard. Many tables ordered their more expensive seafood items such as Lobster noodles, steamed crab, crab noodles, abalone noodles. Maybe that's the ticket. Service was good. Our waiter was quite friendly and accommodating. We weren't bothered by the rude and pushy guys in the dark suits with the earpiece. Koi Palace is a good place to go to if you want to splurge and or impress your family or friends with an expensive Chinese lunch or dinner. Just go on a weekday...if you want to be heard or even hear yourself talk.

The food here is expensive and mediocre. I've eaten at better dim sums in remote areas of the US and didn't expect hit one that is just eh here in a very Asian area

Food use to be good ! That’s why it match the price ….. now … not so much ! Order a $370 pig but came with out legs … ask the sever why he said it was burned ! Beware of tips and service charge .. before check out
We came on a Sunday morning with a group of five and waited about 30 minutes, which was not too bad for weekend dim sum. The food was just okay. Some dishes tasted soggy and a bit old, and the restaurant overall felt worn and not very clean. Service was okay, nothing special. There is a big parking lot, but it still felt chaotic and hard to maneuver. There were also a lot of smokers outside, which was not pleasant while waiting. I got lucky and found a spot right away, but it looked tough for others. Overall, an average experience. I have had better dim sum elsewhere.
We visited for the first time in about 3 years. Elements are the same, the bustling crowds, a great variety of dishes, the koi I'm the indoor pond, the chaotic reception area, the high noise level; but elements were different. The service was slow, about an hour for one of our dishes, the food was cold, and most important, it had lost refinement. The dumplings were all oversized, no care was taken with the XLB so they had all burst. The prices were also significantly higher than we remembered.
Very disappointed about the food quality here. It was far from before. Service attitude improved. However, soup dumpling skin it’s thick and soup base tastes weird and salty. I can’t tell what is the stuffing for. It’s very mushy. Vegetable was over cooked. I used to love the dim sum here but from food presentation to quality is far behind from the past :(
Dim sum is good but the service is not. Been there twice and both times servers looked "incovenienced" when I asked for something.

This restaurant serves very authentic Cantonese food — truly delicious and never disappointing when it comes to taste. It’s always busy and popular, which shows how good the food is. However, the atmosphere is not great. It’s crowded, dark, and doesn’t feel very clean, especially with the carpet flooring. Service is another downside. The staff seem busy and not very friendly — sometimes even a bit arrogant. It’s hard to get their attention, and only one server was really attentive during our visit. They also automatically charge an 18% service fee, even for small parties. Overall, amazing food but disappointing service and atmosphere. Worth visiting for the taste, but not for the dining experience.
I use to love this place, but my recent visit was a major letdown. The quality of the food and service has significantly declined. The table wasn't set up when we arrived, and there weren't any utensils or napkins. The overall cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Several of the dishes we ordered were subpar. Food takes forever to arrive, we waited over an hour for XLB and eventually had to cancel it. Crispy Fried Dough Rice Roll ( 0/5) - Soggy and flavorless, as if it were leftover from the previous day. Steamed Shrimp dumplings with XO sauce (1/5) - The Steamed Shrimp Dumplings were falling apart, with a soggy skin and an unappetizing appearance. The XO sauce didn't complement the shrimp, and the shrimp themselves were neither juicy nor tender. Soy Marinated Tofu Cubes (3/5) - Somewhat enjoyable, was cold when brought to the table. Sauce was a bit off. chicken feet, spareribs with diced Taro (4/5) - Probably the best dish but the portion is tiny. Mango crepe rolls (1/5) - Difficult to chew, and the mochi filling was tough instead of soft. The exterior was also overly soggy. Soft grilled black sesame filled cakes (3/5) - Mochi inside wasn't chewy although the sesame filling was satisfying. To add, when we received our bill, they hadn't crossed off a dish we had canceled. I won't be returning to this location again.
