This is my favorite pho (beef noodle soup) in San Diego. The pho special is full of tender thicker cut beef, plus a big beef bone to go caveman/cavewoman on, and the setting is peaceful and calm. Great food! And the glass of ice water was clearly filtered and tasted great. I hate restaurants that use tap water directly, San Diego water is toxic if not filtered. Anyways, this place is great. We’ve brought our daughter here and they have some basic meals that picky 7yos like as well. It’s raining outside and I’m in heaven eating my hot bowl of pho. Oh and this is so affordable for Del Mar!! Thank you!
We tried Le Bambou because it's one of very few (if not the only one) Vietnamese restaurant that doesn't add MSG to their food and we loved it! We tried the Veggie Pho and the Steamed Fish in Clay Pot; both were amazing! The atmosphere was very intimate. Restaurant was clean and staff was knowledgeable, helpful and professional.
This place is great and has done a great job serving my family for a long time. One of the best, long-standing establishments in Del Mar. They are a small shop, run by family. So don't expect them to be fully automated and efficient like Panda Express. But it's a really nice experience to be served by a family that works so hard and creates really great food.
Hands down the best Vietnamese restaurant in San Diego! One bite of the delicious hot crab egg rolls and I knew this restaurant was special. Then the main course. The sumptuous Sautéed chicken with lemon grass and hot peppers, paired with a nice glass of white wine, made this a special dinner. A nice quiet bistro that I could enjoy while dining. Definitely coming back, and will bring the entire family for the next dinner.
A family run business that is a true gem in Del Mar. I wish we had been coming here when we moved to SD 20 years ago. The food is delicious (Shaking Beef, Curry Scallops, Eggplant, Pho and the list goes on) and service is very polite and prompt! Neal and his family are very welcoming and will give suggestions for the extensive menu and we have made this one of our go to restaurants.
First time here but not the last! Everything was Absolutely delicious! We ordered the ground shrimp appetizer, chicken pho and Shaking Beef (similar to Mongolian beef but better!). Plus we got their homemade lemonade! So refreshing; not too sweet, just perfect! Can’t wait to come back and try other things. Attentive, friendly staff! Thank you!
This place is beautiful. A great place to eat and have a date. The staff is super friendly and very attentive
Wonder french twist on Vietnamese food. The curry is wonderful. Shaking beef is one of the best Fila steaks I have ever had. Don't miss out on the fried rice.
I have been going to this restaurant for approximately 15 years or more. I have never had better egg rolls or soup ever. I have never had a bad meal. This my special place for celebration dinners to I just want to treat myself to a great meal kinda place. Introduced some East Coast family member and they too are now hooked!
I have been a loyal customer for years. There is a reason for that. They always serve fresh dishes that are light and delicious.
Such a wonderful experience. Atmosphere, service, food. AMAZING. Neil and the family are so warm and kind. We got the Crispy Vegetarian Imperial Rolls and Pho. The rolls were so perfectly crispy and satisfying. Every single bite was incredible. Thank you thank you thank you. We will definitely be back!
We went for my friend' birthday with a group of friends and had a really amazing meal there on a busy Saturday night. I had a taste of almost everything on the menu since we were sharing but the seafood dish ( I don't remember the name) was absolutely amazing. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely go back for more.
Our server Kyle was so nice and gave us great recommendations for our first time at Le Bambou. We will definitely be back!
Old world class, table clothes, folded napkins, fresh flowers on the table occasionally The food is excellent, the service the same The owner works tirelessly to ensure the right dining experience
One of my very favorite San Diego restaurants. As a lover of Asian foods, Le Bambou is way up there, especially if you go for Vietnamese cuisine. A small family venue, started by the parents of Neil, the current owner, its staff, service and atmosphere is charmingly modest, warm and serene...kinda Zen like. And with a nice offering of wines and beers, you can have the full dining experience at a cost that would fit almost any budget. Don't miss it!
Excellent food, very nice service. One of the best Vietnamese places in all of SD. Portions not huge but seems just right. I’ve been to Vietnam and the flavors here are spot on. They do a great job
We come every other Wednesday at 5:30pm as a meetup group for Chess and Bridge. There's so many great choices on the menu, crave-able choices that I just can't wait to order! My recommendations include any of the clay pots, any of the salads, where you add your own protein and their steamed or sautéed sole is pretty good. Oh, don't forget their fried rice and their egg rolls. Ambrosia is also a favorite with our group. And don't leave without dessert. Their Flan is out of this world! It's a mix between a creme brûlée and flan. So yummy!
The service and food here is great. Really enjoyed the pho. The beef broth is spectacular. I had the imperial vegetarian spring rolls and really enjoyed the way you wrap lettuce over them. They’re huge and the sauce is soo good. I am not bothered by them being burnt a bit on some sides. It’s the kind of burnt that tastes good, like the burnt ends of a beef roast. Anyway, dig the atmosphere. We’ll be back. Might be a new go-to.
Amazing food, excellent service and a relaxed upscale ambiance, Le Bambou has all three! I'd highly recommend paying them a visit if you're looking for some Vietnamese food done right. To top it off it's family owned multiple generations.
This is a gem. Our family has eaten here for over 30 years. Quality food, family run
We arrived at this restaurant right when it opened for the evening and barely managed to get a table because it was fully booked. As we dined, the place quickly filled up, and the wait time nearly reached an hour. The restaurant's popularity is evident, so it's wise to make reservations in advance. The acclaim is well-deserved, though, as the food was very good, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
The food was amazing. They had some great tunes playing during dinner – it gave the place a real upscale vibe. The patio is also a solid spot to eat.
My family always gets excited to visit this neighborhood gem. The roast duck is an absolute treat, the pho is delicious and savory, the seafood hot pot warms the soul on cooler days. As a customer of over 10 years I still think everything I've tried has been very fresh and delicious. I do recommend reservations as there are a limited number of tables in this cozy family owned business.

White tablecloths, delicious food! The service is like a Michelin-starred restaurant!! We are in awe! Thank you! Now we have this place in the chosen one!
In the area and a friend recommended this hidden gems for great vietnamese cuisine. Our server was friendly and took great care of us even it was during the lunch rush. The Pho had the best presentation and tasted great. It was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The shaking beef was tender with great flavor. Will definitely come back again to try other dishes next time in the area.
Delicious food every time. Courteous quick service and the best roast duck around. The Imperial Rolls are bomb and they have the Best Iced Coffee in town!

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! I discovered this restaurant through someone in my Del Mar yoga class who owned a private jet. My thought was, if they can afford to go anywhere, and this is their favorite spot, it must be incredible—so I decided to try it. And it did not disappoint! The food was outstanding, and the service was excellent too. This is a true hidden gem that’s absolutely worth visiting. Pro tip: Start with the crab rolls—they’re the perfect appetizer!
the atmosphere here is exceptional, amazing food as well we got the imperial rolls, pho special, and sautéed eggplant beef & basil
This is my fav restaurant in North County, I’ve been here 3x and it is a gem each time! Every dish has been delicious and the staff is lovely! The Pho and Shaking Beef are my favorites!
The shaking beef was amazing. Perfectly cooked beef tenderloin and onions that were both charred and still crispy. Yum!
We’ve been to this restaurant six times now, and every single visit has been excellent. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and consistently delicious. The quality never disappoints, and it’s clear they put care into every dish. I highly recommend this place—whether it’s your first time or your sixth, you can go with confidence knowing you’ll have a great meal.
Le Bambou is one of my favorite restaraunts in all of San Diego and is very affordable! My favorite dishes are Shaken Beef and Star of the Sea in Tamarind Sauce with a side of rice. Each time I’ve gone, their food never disappoints and their flavors amaze me each time and has a wow factor! The Shaken Beef is always so juicy and never dry with great flavor. The Star of the Sea in Tamarind Sauce has a perfect balance of tamarind in its sauce. It’s subtle and blends in the perfect amount. The imperial rolls in the Vermicelli with Pork and Shrimp dish are some of the best egg rolls I’ve ever tried and their pho is also very tasty. It’s a small, family-owned business and the owners seem very sweet and give great recommendations. The prices are very reasonable and their portion sizes have just the right amount and I feel full. The restaurant has a romantic vibe but also a casual vibe at the same time. So if you feel like going on a date or going in casual with friends, family, or kids, it’s a great place to go! 10/10 recommend!
I was in the area visiting from LA with my future in-laws who are locals. They have been coming here for years and always shared how delicious it was.I was blown away by the food. The service is outstanding. It is owned and operated by a family. I will absolutely be back and recommend to anyone who likes Vietnamese cuisine.

The food here is excellent and the service is usually very good. They were very slow the last time we had takeout. Tonight, we decided to dine in and it was a much better overall experience. Shaking Beef 🥩 5/5 Delicious with a capital D. They were a bit stingy with the beef tonight, I know times are tough, but for 18 bucks, it should be a slightly larger serving. Curry Chicken 4.5/5 Very good, not the most traditional variation of this dish, but it holds its own in terms of quality and freshness. Perfectly cooked meal. Compliments to the chef, and kudos on providing high quality and swift service.
I wouldn't classify Le Bambou as super-authentic, but it offers a great mix of classic dishes (like clay pot fish, fruit for dessert) and homey fair in a way that's really approachable for anyone. We had the clay pot rice, which was excellent, the ground shrimp springroll appetizer, lychee, and vietnamese coffee. We also had another dish but I'm pretty sure it wasn't what I ordered since it was supposed to come in a spicy tomato sauce and seemed more like a non spicy tamarind, but it was still quite good even if I'm not sure what it was on the menu. The ambiance gets a 5/5 easily. It's laidback and quiet, with candles and low lighting. The goal was to find someplace we could have a quiet, slow date night with a nice glass of wine and this absolutely hit the spot. Service was awesome and it was a really comfortable experience.
We ordered the shaking beef and the pho shrimp. Honestly, the pho is not the best that I ever had. But the shaking beef was really delicious and the meat was tender enough. The atmosphere is great with dim lights.
Everyone else's food was good except mine so minus a star lol. I ordered ahead for pick up 3 appetizers and 2 main dishes about $95. Our food was ready when promised and packed well no leaks. Barbeque chicken wings were awesome. Both types of imperial rolls were excellent and still crispy even though I hit traffic getting it home and came with ample lettuce, herbs and sauce. The peanut sauce we liked the best. Clay pot Salmon was small but tasty. Jasmine tea was terrible I decided to spit it out and toss it after the third sip. Vegetable fried rice was lacking the " fried" aspect more like undercooked dry vegis tossed in leftover rice so I couldn't recommend that dish. Overall decent, a bit pricey but typical for that area.

Flavors were a bit sweet for me and lacked variation, but it could be a regional difference that I'm not used to. I did order the pho and it was only ok.
It’s a nice place. nice food, nice people and nice atmosphere. Nice is not the way I like to describe a dining experience. sadly that’s all they can offer. Not going to plug their competitors, but there’s a better place for Pho very close by, I’d go there instead.
A group of 5 people dined there this evening and liked the wine, Cornish hen, shakey beef, and fish in clay pot. The sour fish soup was too sweet and not sour enough. The flan was so-so. Service was good. Had to ask for chopsticks. I guess most of the customers were not the chopstick type.
The pho here is okay, but the noodles were undercooked for takeout, which was disappointing. The broth had decent flavor, and the service was good, but overall I’d skip it and try another spot instead.

I ordered takeout and was very disappointed with the quality of the food. The menu’s description of the game hen as “succulent” should be replaced with “sparse, dry, and stringy.” Must have been (over)cooked days ago. Had I been eating there, I would have definitely sent it back. The vegetarian sautéed eggplant comes swimming in oil. I would recommend staying away from these 2 dishes. $38 for not much…
Very very bland food. All 3 dishes! Tastes more like Chinese than Thai. We ordered spicy items and they weren’t spicy at all. They don’t bring enough rice or refill water either. Spent over $80 for Panda Express flavor. I do not recommend if you are looking for actual Thai.
Food was really bad - I ordered the chicken veggie mix and I had a hard time finishing it. No flavor.
The food was mostly good, but it didn’t worth the 50 min wait and the horrible service. More details below. The good. 1. The Pho was delicious. I would give 4.5 stars. 2. The shaking beef was very good. The meat was very tender and tasty. 5 stars. The bad. 1. The crispy roles were partly burned. See the picture. But pieces that weren’t burned tasted good. 3 stars because they were burned. If not burned 4.5. 2. The whole restaurant smelled like food. We wanted to visit a friend after dinner, but we had to go home to change clothes because we smelled like food :) 3. We had to wait for 50 min for the food to get ready. Even the appetizer took about 40 min to arrive. 4. When we asked when our food will be ready, the waiter lost it and was really rude. He angrily said the kitchen is backed up. Okay i understand sometimes things are backed up, but i think at least they can be a little more understanding and at least respond nicely. 5. They didn’t even refill my water cup. I guess they were too busy to provide any service at all.

No leftovers! We ordered takeout and got three entrees and one appetizer for two people at $75. They upcharged the appetizer. Got home and realized that entrees were in containers that were less than half full.
