Such a great experience! Great service from our server, Dennis. Both chef's specials were absolutely delicious. Of course, the Hula pie was big enough for 4 people, but the two of us finished it and were stuffed. I will definitely be going back soon.
I had such a lovely experience at Jake’s Del Mar. The oceanfront setting is absolutely stunning. The food was genuinely very good, fresh and flavorful, and the staff were warm and attentive without being overbearing. Perfect for a slow bunch. I’d def go back 🌊✨
Jesus, our bartender, was truly amazing. Jake's has been the highlight of our trip. There was a perfect balance between making sure we are attended to while also not feeling rushed. He did just that and I can't express just how much we appreciate it.

We went for an early dinner on Saturday. Valet parking was easy and convenient. Food (mussels, ahi tostadas, beet salad with mahi, Caesar salad with steak and shrimp) and drink (vodka slushie, Paloma) was outstanding. Our server provided us excellent service and the ambience and atmosphere was great. Top notch all the way around. We really enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend.
Amazing food with gorgeous views! Great place for a sunset dinner. Service was amazing and friendly. Very attentive. Everything from the chowder to desserts were 5 star! Compliments to the chef & highly reccomend!! Watch out for street parking.... we were 15 minutes late to the meter and had a ticket from the city! Restaurant offers Valet - definitely cheaper than the ticket!!
We had such a wonderful time, and Julian was the absolute best waiter. From the moment we sat down, Julian made our experience unforgettable. Julian reminded us how amazing the ceviche was and suggested we order two for our group of four — and Julian was absolutely right, because it was the perfect amount. Julian also recommended a guava margarita with tajín, and OH BOY… it was perfection! My husband is still raving about that drink 30 minutes later in the car — thanks to Julian’s great suggestion. Between the stunning ocean view, the delicious appetizers (ceviche and calamari), and an incredible dinner of sea bass, ribs, lobster, and steak, everything was flawless. And the common thread through all of it was Julian’s outstanding service. Julian was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely made us feel taken care of. Truly, Julian was the perfect server. Julian, Julian, Julian — we will absolutely be asking to sit in Julian’s section every single time we enjoy dinner at Jake’s. Thank you, Julian, for such a fantastic evening! 🌟
The wait for the table was not that long even on a busy night with no reservation. The service was quick, amazing, always attentive. The food was delicious we could not stop ordering different foods to try. The portions were big but a regular eater could finish it. The atmosphere was amazing it was right on the beach and it was not too loud while still feeling alive. Overall an amazing experience.
The food here was phenomenal, the highlight being the hula pie 🥧. The service was also excellent, servers were very kind and checked in on us often. To top it off, the beach is right outside, giving a very nice beachside view. Overall my experience here was amazing, definitely come check Jake's out, I would just recommend getting a reservation ahead of time.
Best idea! Go here on Thanksgiving...prime rib was our entree of choice and it was amazing...just note, you will need a reservation.
Riley is the best bartender I have ever had. He made space for me when there was none. Gave me my drinks right away, had great recommendations for food. Was so pleasant and accommodating. The view and sunset and vibe of this place is suberb and beach access is right there. Can’t recommend Jake’s enough.
We had a reservation and enjoyed the view of the ocean. We ordered lobster tail, surf and turf, tuna and braised spare rib. We also had the aloha pie, it was plenty for the 3 of us. The dishes I tried were delicious!
My review is based on my lunch experience. I came here for lunch today. On a Thursday. Got seated right away in the back by the windows. Beautiful beach views. I ordered calamari to start and Burger with fries. The calamari was amazing. My server Tia said it was delicious and it sure is. The server is very hospitable. The calamari was nice and crispy and not chewy. The Birger was ordered medium. It was cooked perfect with avocado. I saw it in a picture and it didn't disappoint. The fries were crispy and seasoned just right. I definitely want to come back for dinner
Always love going to Jake’s!!! I always feel so relaxed here, especially when you are sitting near the window! You can really feel the fresh salty ocean breeze:) Also one of the best salads I have ever had, so refreshing and light!

My wife has stage 4 cancer, and I wanted to give her an oceanfront dining experience with protection from sun and wind. Jake's was perfect. Right on the beach with big windows that open wide or close as you desire. The memory will always be like gold. The food and service were good too.

We started with the calamari and crab cake appetizers, both of which were perfectly prepared and delicious. My husband ordered the halibut special, which was so exceptional that I couldn't resist trying it even though I wasn't planning on having a main course. The freshness of the ingredients really shines through - you can taste that everything is made with the highest quality, just-prepared produce. Our server was both friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, making excellent recommendations and ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The conversation flowed as beautifully as the ocean waves just outside. This was honestly the best meal I've had in months. The restaurant's location right on the beach creates an unbeatable atmosphere, and while the restrooms are quite small, they're impeccably clean. Jake's Del Mar has earned a permanent spot on our list of favorite restaurants. Highly recommend for anyone looking for fresh, expertly prepared food with unparalleled ocean views and top-notch service. They offer valet for $10 and it’s cheaper that the public parking across the road which was $30
If you're looking for a spot right on the water, Jake's is a great option! We came here for the first time recently and really enjoyed our visit. We got seated outside which was nice but unfortunately we didn't have a view of the ocean. However, there is a walkway from the restaurant directly on to the beach. The service was great throughout our whole meal. Food wise, delicious! We started with the ceviche which was so tasty. I ordered the Scallops and my wife ordered the Surfing Steak. Everything tasted fantastic! Even the kids meals were good sizes. It is a little pricey but it's also directly on the beach. The inside was nice and had beautiful views. Valet parking is only $10 if you can't find street parking. Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner here!
We made a reservation and had virtually no wait when we arrived. The location is beautiful, and the view outstanding. This restaurant is also nicely run. We went to Jake's as a family of five to celebrate our daughter's birthday. They had already placed a Happy Birthday card on the table for our daughter, which was a nice touch! We ordered a bottle of Pinot grigio to start. Our waitress, Elisha T, promptly notified us shortly after she left to get that bottle of wine that they had sold out. Now, normally, the waitress stops there and waits for his/her patrons to figure out what to substitute it with. Not Elisha! Upon finding out they were out of stock and before telling us the bad news, she communicated with Jake's sommelier to ask the sommelier for a recommendation to substitute the old wine for a new one and she suggested that to us instead. It was a great suggestion, and we ordered that Pinot grigio. Great service #1! Later, we ordered our main courses. The fish and seafood dishes were delicious according to the rest of our party. My husband ordered the lemon garlic roasted fish, which he said was superb. Our daughter, whose birthday we were celebrating, ordered the Hokaido scallops, and she loved it. Our other daughter ordered the Togarashi spice-crusted ahi, which she loved, but not as much as her fiancé's grilled shrimp! I ordered the chicken dish because I don't eat seafood. That dish was mediocre. We had a mishap happen where their waitstaff dropped ketchup containers on the floor. Unfortunately, the ketchup landed on my husband's new Lululemon shirt. In the process of trying to spot clean it, Elisha came by to ask what happened. Once she learned what happened, she asked her manager to come and talk to us. Dean, the restaurant manager, was friendly and helpful. He gave us his card to send him the dry cleaning bill. We were able to remove the ketchup spots at home! Great service #2! Toward the end of the evening, Elisha brought our daughter a massive slice of ice cream cake with five spoons. It was also delicious - especially the crust! The point is -- the service was amazing, dishes delectable, ambiance incredible, and prices reasonable. What more could one ask for. We would happily return. We would also highly recommend Jake's to others too! Thanks to Jake's Del Mar, Elisha, and Dean, it was a very lovely experience.
We were there to celebrate a birthday and it was absolutely perfect! We made reservations ahead of time and they had a table by the window with a birthday card waiting. We each had a Mai Tai (which were very good.) For dinner, we had the Lemon Garlic Roasted Fish (which was Sea Bass) that night and the special, which was Alaskan Halibut. Both were very good. We saved room for the Hula Pie, which was amazing! It's almost like a hot fudge sundae in the form of a pie piece. We would absolutely order that again (and probably go out of our way for it!) The staff was very attentive and polite. On top of everything, the view of sunset was spectacular!
Jake’s has great service and really good food. It was my first time visiting this restaurant that’s located steps from the sand at Del Mar beach. I used open table to reserve a seat for two. We walked right up and were seated on the patio with an outstanding view of the beach. We got the muscles, which were amazing, a burger and a chicken sandwich. The muscles were nice and spicy with sausage in the mix. Delicious. The burger was a good size with some big slices of bacon on top. The fries were a hit.
We had dinner here last night and everything was absolutely delicious from the calamari to the filet mignon which melted in my mouth. sooooo good. We split the filet. Wonderful service and a great view of the sun setting over the ocean.

The room and the bar were very lively, but also very noisy. The best part of the room is the exquisite view of the ocean. We finally were seated and ordered several things from the menu. I did not taste anyone else’s food. However the calamari was really good… Different but a nice flavor. I would’ve preferred it a little crispier, though. I had a Caesar salad salad that was good. However my steak was very very salty. I wasn’t even able to eat it. Everyone else seemed relatively satisfied with their food. But overall, it was just OK.
