Rolled in here for Sunday brunch. The place was sold out with reservations but since we arrived early we got seated at a good table. Our wait person Madeline was spot on and got us set up with their pepper infused vodka bloody Mary. To my surprise it was one of the best bloodies I've ever had. So I got another. I ordered the brunch skillet with eggs, potatoes, grilled chicken, onions, peppers, and avocados. My girlfriend ordered the Reuben sandwich with mustard on the side. It also came with french fries. The service was perfect, Madeline was perfect. The atmosphere was very nice. The place is in what seems to be a historic building. Very cool. I give the food a 4.5 because we were there early and the French fries, although still good, were not very hot and maybe sitting around a while. We were charged 50 cents for mustard on the side with the sandwich. Seems a little Nickel and dimey. The pricing was reasonable though, not cheap, but not over priced. Overall very good and we will be back and DO recommend this place.

Our server Jenny was kind and attentive, and she knew the menu well. Burger was delicious, as were the chicken sandos and Nashville hot chicken. Clean bathrooms and nicely decorated. Really cool spot overall. Def would love to come back and try other items on the menu.

We went last month and below is my review. We went again and they had no place to sit so we sat outside. Sydney was our server. She was great! Friendly, helpful, and tired get best to keep us fed and hydrated! 😊The burgers are always a hit, the old fashioneds are good, on tap and $7 during happy hour! Great happy hour, nice vibe. Great food! The service and bartenders were attentive and friendly. They were out of a lot of things. Certain drinks, certain sides, etc. Overall, it was so a great experience.

Large bar with booth seating. We had an excellent meal with friendly and attentive service. Not a fancy place but the food is inventive and delicious.

940's Kitchen and Cocktails is one of those downtown Denton spots that just fits into the neighborhood. Old building with tons of character, and the kind of place where you notice the walls before you even look at the menu. I went straight for the Pot Roast Grilled Cheese, and honestly, it's the kind of sandwich that makes you rethink every boring grilled cheese you've ever had. The pot roast was fall‑apart tender, the cheese was doing exactly what cheese should do, and the whole thing just worked. My wife had the BLT. It was simple, solid, and no complaints with that sandwich. Oh, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention their french fries were out of this world! My Bloody Mary was dialed in perfectly spicy like I asked, and not the "let's torch your taste buds" attitude. Easy to sip and easy to order again. If you're wandering around downtown Denton and want a place with good food, good drinks, and that old‑school vibe that you can't fake, 940's is worth the stop.

Food and service is great. The appetizer was amazing, It was the crushed avocado toast. It had was some avocado, garlic pesto, toasted pecans, balsamic reduction and fried onions. I got a sunset photo while I was there.

Excellent food, excellent service! Only reason this isn't getting 5 stars is that we needed a bit of salt on most things, the mac and cheese pasta was a bit overcooked and the breadcrumbs were stale instead of crunchy. The food was good though! Staff very friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing. Will definitely be back!

940s Staff was friendly and atmosphere was nicely modern. Each of our dishes came out a little slow for being sandwich style dish. Fries were pretty good. Enjoyed our selections. Saturday from open to 3pm only serves brunch menu. You will not be able to get the entrees.

Unfortunately, our dinner experience didn’t quite live up to the reviews. We visited on a Saturday around 5:30 p.m., and they were already running low on several menu items. While we all agreed the cocktails were great, the food overall was disappointing. After taking our order, the server came back to let us know they were out of the tenderloin, which happened to be part of what half our table had ordered. In the end, only one person was able to get it, paired with the grilled cheese. To be fair, our group includes a few picky eaters, so finding alternatives wasn’t easy. We ended up trying the chicken sandwich, the meatball flatbread, and the fried chicken. The fried chicken was said to be moist and flavorful, so that was a plus. It also seemed that the grilled cheese came out much earlier than the rest, as the fries that came with it were stale. However, the staff did acknowledge it and brought out a fresh batch, which were delicious. It might just be the busy Halloween season, but overall, we left a bit disappointed with our dinner experience.

We wanted to like this place more than we did. We were first introduced to 940 during a Discover Denton tour. We decided to come here before a show and made a reservation ahead of time. The food was tasty and the cocktails were tasty, but the service was not good at all. We were seated in a booth away from the bar and main seating area, so maybe that’s why it seemed like we were forgotten more than once. Our appetizer came out in an acceptable amount of time, but we waited over 30 minutes for our entrees. And my husband had to flag our server down to ask for the check. Maybe he was having a bad day? The food was delicious and that saved the 70 minute dining experience, but if you go here…try to avoid being seated at the dark booths in the back. Also, if you are a beer drinker, you will spend $8 on a 12 ounce can!

1 star on the food, the chicken sandwich was good and the steak minus the sides. The dressing on the salad was a yellow thick slimy substance that reminded me of nevermind! The potatoes had a brown sauce or gravy type liquidity something that was not good at all! The chips that came with the queso were stale. On a positive note, the drinks were delicious and the service was great. Big thanks to Roslyn and Derrick for your hospitality.

We were so excited to try 940 and couldn’t have been more disappointed. We had 530 reservations and ordered a fried mozzarella appetizer, which only included 2 cheese wedges…ordered our food, only to be told after 20 minutes that they were out of tenderloin which was 3 of our meals and had to make all new selections. Then got the bill and all food, including the meals they were out of were on the ticket. Drinks are good, but I would not recommend this restaurant if you are wanting to eat. Definitely not worth the high prices and lack of customer service

Let me preface by saying I’ve been to this place more than a couple times, also that I am a chef by trade. I’m attaching a picture of my previous review I screenshot before deleting. I went for brunch this morning, with reservations. We were seated in good time, but it took a long time before anyone even greeted us. It took a long time to get drink orders. It took a long time to get our orders taken. It took even longer to get our food. I had ordered the tenderloin Mac and cheese. I’ve ordered it before and it was creamy, flavorful, and the beef was cooked nicely. This time I was served a sprinkling of pot roast and flavorless macaroni and cheese. I hadn’t been here in a while but it’s only gotten worse unfortunately. It came out dry and no seasoning. I had a friend dining with me that can’t eat jalapeños for health reasons, and they were served jalapeños despite it not being on the menu. I take food safety VERY seriously. I think any self respecting chef should. Needless to say, none of us will be eating here again. It was over an hour and a half from sitting down to getting our checks back before we were able to leave. Once again, the checks took a long time too. :(

All our orders were wrong and we had to go find someone to send our server. I sent my risotto back. It was rice and diced tomatoes in water. Runny, flavorless and just bad. Not creamy, no flavor, literally flavorless grainy rice and uncooked diced tomatoes in water. I tried salting it and that didn't help. I ordered that with added chicken: no chicken. Last year when I got mushroom ravioli with added chicken it was delicious. Pulled, rotisserie style roasted flavorful chicken. After the fact tonight I was brought a bowl of diced grilled tough rubber chicken squares, also flavorless. My dinner companions also didn't get any requested condiments and even the salad orders were wrong. Just a truly bad experience. Not recommended and will not be back. Sad.

I was super excited to come here looking at the menu reading the reviews got there we were able to sit pretty quickly The server forgot about us so it took him a minute to take our drink order. gave him the drink order 2 Sazerac’s, and the poutine for an appetizer server came back, saying they were out of poutine so we ordered the pork belly and the mozzarella still our drinks had not come Our appetizers were delivered still hadn’t gotten our drinks. The server ask if we wanted some of the other than water we stated we ordered two Sazerac. He said oh yeah the drinks came they were not made correctly. I love New Orleans and I love Sazerac and I know how they’re made and this was not how they are made. We ordered the tenderloin, grilled cheese and the tenderloin mac & cheese there was no tenderloin. It was shredded beef. They didn’t salt the fries. I ordered a side of ranch for my french fries and it taste like offbrand hidden Valley Farms ranch It was so gross. The fried onions that were on top of the mac & cheese were hard as rock. My husband can even chew them. I will never go back to this place. I will never recommend this place for anybody who gave this restaurant five stars. You probably don’t have any taste buds that work.

We had a reservation and were seated right away, but we then proceeded to wait 15 minutes to be acknowledged by a waiter. The waiter approached us and asked "has anyone helped you yet" and then proceeded to act like we weren't a table in his section but he'll help us anyways. He was our waiter the whole time- very odd. The food was mediocre and pretty flavorless. My daughter's chicken tenders had a large black hair cooked into it. We found someone to stop and tell. He took the chicken but there was no apology or remorse. We were later told an app and a cocktail got reimbursed. Okay I guess that's fine, I would have expected the meal reimbursed though. The gravy that came with my fried chicken was horrible tasting, like acidic or plastic tasting. We let a different person passing by know and they said they would get a manager. By the time a manager came by I was pretty much done with my meal and didn't get to enjoy gravy with it. The manager agreed the gravy was bad and that they were making a new batch, but at this point everyone was done eating. I did not receive a comped meal or anything from that. Overall, the customer service was horrible, the food mediocre, and the care to retain customers seems to be zero as there was little to no remorse the endless lack of service and food quality. We will never dine here again, and we are returning customers.
