Amazing memories! By far my favorite fry street bar. For us older folks, day drinking here is a far more laid back vibe.
Love this place.. best bar around by far.. staff if I could 10 star yall I would.. ive never had any problems with service or anything here.. I live in Arlington and I about an hr or so drive from here and its worth every mile and min just for the staff alone.. seriously guys if yall read this yall kill it every day.. 10/10 love you guys
One of our favorite places to go when we come to Denton. Great atmosphere! Staff is amazing!! Prices are excellent! Highly recommend!!!
Been here many times and it's probably the best chill spot at Fry.. just ignore the little guy that's always their that helps out. He likes to talk trash and start stuff!
A great place for drinks and a good time! They've put a lot of effort into making the place safe fun to hang out.
My favorite bar near campus. People are friendly and there’s always a pool table available.
best bar on the Square, don’t have anything negative to say! their new bathroom renovation looks great and was highly needed.
Such a fun, lively, and welcoming bar! My dog really enjoyed all the attention and chill atmosphere on the patio.
Really nice bar, and a cool little drag show. Awesome way to spend a few hours on a Sunday
Amazing drink specisls, great environment, and even better staff. There's a reason I went here almost every day for 5 years. 10/10 would visit again.
Amazing selection of drinks and a great, dog-friendly outdoor area. Fairly priced, too. Probably the best bar in this little area.
$2 doubles from 9:00-11:00 every day, and this place has one of the two working 50 cent foosball tables on Fry. Very nice place.
The bartenders are always so nice! It does get really crowded, though. Trivia nights are the best!
Great bar with fun bartenders! Went here for a cousin turning 21, gave him a birthday drink. Cheap drinks 👍
Pint Night is great! Every Tuesday Lucky Lou's features a brewery and a beer served in a souvenir glass.
Best bar in the world. I’ve probably been 1000 times. Great bartenders and cheap drinks.
Cool local hangout, nice outdoor area. Bartender was friendly and attentive! Will be back soon!
Just had the best hopper shot made by this lovely bartender Mariah
Been going for 28 years. Dylan, Elisa, Tosh, and Mariah are awesome 👌 sauce. Always something going on here. Craft sales, to contests. Love this place ❤️ serves food too!
My absolute favorite place on Fry!! Such kind and respectful staff. Very clean as well. Nice and cold inside for the summer too.
I've been frequenting this place for a while. The best most chill bar in Denton. Fun games and great drinks at a great price. The only thing i would say is don't be a jackass and you won't get kicked out
Best drink specials on fry too me the cheapest places are Lou's and The Garage since Cool Beans raised prices on everything. I usually prefer Lous because I like margaritas, mexican candy shots, & mexican beer and the larger beer selection over The Garage.
Love Lucky Lou’s! This is my go-to place. Tuesday nights is pint night. And from 7-11pm is happy hour. During happy hour I recommend the $3 frozen margaritas and $2 Amaretto Sour.
Any business that supports teachers is good in my Book. Shout out to Lou's for hosting a teacher appreciation night and giving out numerous gift cards and paying for 3 teachers classroom wishlist (. I was one of them). You all definitely have a loyal customer now. Thank you. Oh and ps the drinks were cheap and good
Wanted to update that Lou’s is by far the most professional bar with such a fun staff! Great drinks and deals! I appreciate the safety measures they’ve taken due to Covid and have been!
Always great! My girlfriend and I look forward to Pint Night every week, and it never disappoints. Awesome staff & low prices make it the perfect hangout.
Lou's gets my blessing, for it strikes the balance of being upbeat while at the same time, staying completely chill. If you must go to fry, Lou's should be right there at the top of your list. That is, unless you want to turn into a human garbage can, then you might have some tremendous luck at Public House.
I thought I lost my car (I didn’t, just didn’t park where I normally do) and one of the managers spent almost 2 hours trying to help me find my car. This is the safest I've ever known in Denton and I’ll never be a regular anywhere else.
One of my favorite go to bars in Denton. Yes it has a college vibe, but it's right off campus so that's expected. I graduated from UNT in 2014 and still like to hangout here for a quick beer on the patio before heading to other spots.
Dog friendly patio area. Decent drinks, had a round of Mexican candies and they were delicous! They also have skeeball in the back! Very hip place to hang out on Fry St.
Would recommend. Good music. Good place to watch sports
Favorite bar in Denton best prices great service even if it's redic busy. Only thing is I wish they had lone star in bottles instead of draft. It can get knocked into with the crowds.
Super chill environment to drink and hang out with friends. Lone Star tallboys are always $2. Always good deals. Best bartender's. Best in Denton.
I'm not a drinker, but as someone who has been out quite a bit as the DD, it's refreshing to be in an environment where I don't get questioned or pressured to buy or consume alcohol. Everyone that comes here is very chill, polite, and there to have a good time.
If you go to Lou's, I guarantee you'll have a great time! Awesome atmosphere and lots of different beers on tap. Plus, the people watching is epic in itself.
Great patio space, fantastic bartenders, and the food truck they've got right now is amazing! Definitely recommend, come get yo drink on
The Staff is Lovely, nice and helpful people. Tuesday's are Pint Night at 9pm, each week a new 5$ beer and unique glass (which you get to keep). Overall very well maintained establishment, bathrooms are newly renovated, the bar is quite clean.
dylan was such a pleasure to talk to!
Fun bar to hang out with friends. They play decent music and the age groups are very diverse. My buddies and I had a good time.
Upate 2024: I still love this place. Pint night is awesome. I'm a die-hard fan of Lucky Lous. I drive from Dallas just to come here. I can't explain my level of loyalty here. I'm a walking advertisement and not just because I wear the merchandise. BTW, they have a loyalty program. Sign in on the tablet every time you're here, and you can get free gear after 45 visits, I believe. I love this place. They have a huge list of beers that they offer, and they are amazing. Great place to start learning about your different craft beers. They will allow you to taste before your purchase. My little secret of this place that I must share of that after 4, I believe, they serve free chips and salsa. You help yourself to it. It was very comforting for me to stop by and have a beer with free chips and salsa. It's my favorite spot on Fry Street.
This is my favorite bar on Earth! The patio has tons of seating and games, and fast service with outdoor access to the bar. The crowd is always lively and always to make friends, but the staff makes the entire experience. They’ve built a community and made themselves the ultimate Denton destination. The perfect place to start or end any Fry Crawl, and I’m only more excited for the new bathrooms!
Its lous. The drinks are strong the bartenders are great. They keep the porch clean and the bathrooms are phenomenal! Between the renovations and the events it's just a fun place to be. AND YOU CAN BRING YOUR DOGS. 10/10 Love the new bathrooms
I’ve been going to Lou’s for a decade now. It remains my favorite spot on Fry street. Super chill spot. Great prices, the staff have always been nice to me, and I’ve never had a problem here. Great place to check out.
Fun locally-owned establishment that is working toward being more than just a hangout for college kids. We attended a lovely cheese and mimosa tasting last Sunday and heard about upcoming events (plant swap!) that make us want to keep an eye on this place. Comfortable and friendly.
Best bar on Fry St. hands down. Cheap drinks, great atmosphere, and efficient employees. I also really enjoy their myriad events they host throughout the year. Many great laughs have been had here between me and my friends.
Friendly staff, laid-back environment, and pretty good crowd throughout the night. We stop by on a Friday night at midnight and before 2 a.m. ended up back here to help close the place down. Good selection of drinks. It was raining but they had a covered outdoor area we were able to keep dry under. They also provide a free self serve water dispenser which is kind of cool. They even have one for your pets if you bring them with.
Amazing bar to hang out and drink, definitely not a club if you're looking for dancing that's not here. Drinks are really cheap and staff is extremely friendly. They have free chips and salsa until 9pm and my tabs always like $10 to get drunk
Kelly was amazing. She was very patient, helped my group pick out their drink choices, and SO ATTENTIVE!! She was awesome
Best bar on Fry street!! Awesome relaxed atmosphere and reasonable prices! Mostly friendly staff and lots of seating available! Love their Pint Night deal on Tuesdays! Buy the featured beer of the week and keep the glass!
My husband and I were at Lou's this past weekend with friends. We absolutely love this bar! Tyler was our server and he was the best!! He's really personable and chill, made our time there very enjoyable. Next time we're there we will be hoping he's working.
Kelly the Bartender is an absolute gem!! ♥️♥️
Lucky Lou's was a fantastic experience. I was warmly welcomed by the bartender who patiently explained the Texas combo to me. Upon her recommendation, I tried the Revolver Blood and Honey, as well as a sweet tea vodka that honestly just tasted like sweet tea. I enjoyed all of the outdoor games, as I am a champion at Connect 4. The bag toss was a nice touch as well. Thanks for creating such an electric outdoor nightlife experience.
Will always be my favorite college bar. Great drink prices and always a fun event going on. Perfect place for the early 20's crowd.
Jackie and Mariah and coy and Adam are the best bartenders in DFW. They are personable, quick service, and the just all around fantastic. Actual best bar in town.
Good memories here! Staff is quick to exit individuals that have had too much/can't hold their booze. I've been comp'd a few times here due to defusing bad situations with drunks with the help of staff. Great place for reasonably priced drinks and attentive owners
Events are Lous are the best. Burlesque was amazing, drag is amazing, trivia is amazing. The drinks and bartenders are also amazing.
Stopped in based on a recommendation on a trivia night. Was fun, well run, and the service was great and friendly. No food but allow you to bring in any from surrounding restaurants which is nice. Big outdoor area allows for dogs and a smoking area. Will definitely be back.
Love this bar, the staff is the friendliest on Fry street! Kelley, Zack, Charlotte and Jackie are the kindest people. It’s always prompt service and my drink is perfect every time. The food truck is yummy too! the drinks are always fast and accurate! Annaise makes the best old fashioned’s on fry! I normally only get them on the square side of town but hers are amazing!
Mickey was so awesome!! Very quick and fun to talk to.
I emailed the company but I felt it fit to write a review. ABBY answered the phone for me today and was SUCH A BIG HELP. Kindness like that is hard to find nowadays. BIG THANK YOU ABBY! 🥰🥰
love lou's!! always good music, heavy pours, and good deals! zach is one of the best bartenders on fry st. lou's on top!!
Have you ever been to a place you never wanted to leave? Wellll…. To say the least this place is awesome. I had my birthday here recently and everyone was so nice to me and telling me all the best drinks to get!!! Thank you to all my bartenders they were so sweet me <333
I had a great time at their drag show. The bartender was also friendly and quick. This place is definitely on my list for hangout spots now.
Best bar on fry. Drinks at affordable prices and the bartenders are very respectful. There are plenty of places to sit with friends and talk and they have the cleanest restrooms out of all the bars.
The staff are great. I haven't met one employee who wasn't cool to me. There is an abundance of drink specials and events that happen here weekly. There's food trucks and restaurants nearby. The pool tables, Foosball, and the dartboards are all in good condition.
Absolutely amazing experience every time .e and my friends go here. The drink selection is great. The prices are very good and the drinks are well made. Top notch service from every single bartender even if it is extremely busy(which it always is) Very entertaining crowd with good music without the jukebox apps. Also a side note, there are 2 pokestops that can be accessed from the patio haha yeah I'm that guy. Anyways, this place is the best bar by far in denton. I cannot stress enough how much fun this place is! :)
I love Lucky Lou’s. Everyone knows it’s the best place in Denton to relax and have a few drinks with your pals. The staff is awesome and super personable to those who spend all their money there. If you come early enough, you might see Lee dancing to Stayin’ Alive. Seems like a rare occurrence though.
Great local bar. Always has specials and good cheap drinks. Also only place on Fry street with good selection of craft beers. All the workers are friendly and helpful as well. My favorite time to go is Tuesdays @ 9pm they release a new beer and let you keep the glass of whichever the new beer company is.
Cheap drinks and attentive bartenders. They could replace some worn down furniture inside, but no one cares when they're getting drunk. They pick up your empty glasses super fast.
I love going to this bar because they have cheap drinks and outdoor games like giant connect four and giant Kenya, plus it's a really laid back spot if you just want to hang out with friends.
Pint night is every Tuesday @9:30. Buy the pint, keep the glass (sometimes the UNT Ceramics Guild makes the pints and it's so damn fresh) and then get a Denton Double for $4. Matter of fact, get the Denton Double on any day anyways.
Cool, chill place. Great anyday of the week. Once packed, good luck trying to get a drink within 10 mins. Good staff, and animal friendly.
Good place to hang with friends and play bar games. The staff is nice. Outdoor/indoor. Cheap drinks.
Just outside of UNT campus, but smack dab in the middle of a lot of fun. Pretty decent drink prices and quite a few games to play with your friends and some cool strangers. Overall this place is pretty laid back regardless of how packed it might be
Really nice staff, good place to people watch. The noise level isn't that bad even on busy nights. Mostly come here for the bartenders. They're all cute 🤷♀️
Had some fun times at this bar, even as a non-drinker. Nice place, and the open-area makes the experience there even better. Apparently they have a great selection of drinks as well, but I wouldn't know!
It's a nice dive bar. Busy on the weekends and great deals during 9pm to 11pm everyday. I like the events that they have, and I love the chips and salsa!
this was a nice place tell they started charging a dollar more for there Beer and Drinks, then there next door neighbors. for instance PBR/Lone star beer 2 dollars at Rip Rocks, 3 dollars at lucky Lou' s. what would you chose if you were in a fixed income?
It's far less annoying than some of the other bars on fry street, first of all. I love how dog friendly they are, the drinks are cheap, and pint night is cool. I keep coming back though I'm really put off by one really rude bartender, and she's usually working. She'll throw your guitar picks in the garbage. It's best to just ignore her like she ignores you. It's ok though, the other bartenders are great and not neurotic.
I would like to start out by stating that the bar its self is not why I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 star rating. The bar is wonderful and the staff is excellent! Drinks are cheap and well put together. I always enjoyed having a nice night out here. The problem is some of the customers. They come in and act loud and obnoxious. I understand that it's a college town but most bars do not put up with people acting out in big groups. That's all I had to say. I apologize I couldnt give it a 5 out of 5. Yall are doing fantastic work and I hope things continue to go well for you!
Amazing spot! I went for their Drag show on the patio! I had a blast! The mix of people was great! I would definitely recommend for a fun relaxing yet entertaining Sunday afternoon. The bar layout is great, nice and open for the crowd yet areas to sit and congregate. Good friendly bartenders. Good drink prices.
The drinks are decent (good for getting drunk, not much else), the place is always crowded, and the wait for drinks is agonizingly long. It's definitely a college bar, and I would certainly recommend it if you are interested in more of a party/jock sort of scene. It's just not my cup of tea.
the employee with curly hair and really tight pants is pretty aggressive when asking simple questions. otherwise this place has great atmosphere and the bartenders are extremely sweet!
I like the bar, except this last time I tried to go. I couldnt find my id in my wallet so I stepped to the side to let people go in front of me. I found it as I was moving over and stepped back to the door. I was mistaken for being drunk and not allowed in lol If I was actually drunk I would understand but it was 10pm and the first bar I went to. The door people where just trying to do their job I guess, just weren't doing it very well.
The customer service here is horrifying- I’ve never met a bartender here that has actually been nice! It seems like they’re always annoyed by having to do their job. The drinks are too mid to have your bartenders acting like that.
A really snotty crowd with rude staff who know next to nothing about customer service. I get treated a lot better at Riprock's right next door. The drink specials are nothing special.
Bouncer wouldn’t let my black friend in using a passport for ID right after letting my white friend in using his passport for ID
The bar is fine, but the bouncer here makes it worthwhile to go elsewhere. We'd just shown up at the bar to celebrate a friend's birthday and were chatting/drinking a water when he interrupted us and told us that my friend and I were too drunk to be there. Mind you, we'd each had one beer that night. He said if the bartender gave us water we were too drunk to be there. We told him no, we'd ordered the water to drink. He looked like he realized at this point that nobody was drunk, but I guess he just didn't know how to back down from the statement he'd already made. It was a kind of awkward vibe having this guy (big, bulky white dude with short hair) just roll up on us and ask us to leave our friend's birthday party. Nobody there really knew what to do, and it just made the whole situation kind of uncomfortable for everybody. The drinks and staff are both fine but our whole group had to leave early, and agreed afterward that the bouncer makes Lucky Lou's more of a Plan B than a first choice spot on Fry Street.
By far my least favorite bar in Denton. The service is mediocre at best and the hyper aggressive bouncers will make you want to never go back. Drink prices are nothing special, save yourself a waste of time and money and go literally anywhere else.
Lucky Lou's Manager Discriminates against people with physical disabilities and apparently US Veterans too--- With friends from out of town, I showed up to Lucky Lou's sober as a duck. They dropped me off at the front of the gate so I didn't have to walk to far. We wanted to go to Lou's due to its open environment. My friend drove all the way to Dallas to go out. I have had several surgeries on my leg. I tore my ACL and both sides of my meniscus. I tend to limp because of this. Before I could even hand the bouncer (black gentleman with long hair) my ID he told me he would not let me in. When I inquired why, he told me I was stumbling. When I explained my surgeries and offered to show him my scared up leg, he said it was not happening. When my friends eventually found a parking spot and showed up at the gate I told them what had happened. I politely asked to speak to a manager, and the bouncer informed me he was the manager. He was the bouncer so he managed who gets in and I was not getting in. Standing out side the gate with my friends (again completely sober), he threaten to call the police if I did not leave because I was on his property. I informed the "manager" that I was well in my right to stand on the side walk out side of the business. I invited him to call the police because again I was sober and very coherent. This is when he reached over the gate as if to put his hands on me, I backed away. My friends and I left. Never once did the bouncer take my ID and ask me a question (birthday, address, anything of this nature). Never once did the bouncer try to evaluate my speech to see if I slurred my words, or ask me any questions about my night so far. It was 10:30 pm. Even if I was drunk as a skunk this "manager" never even offered to call a cab for me, or offer to grab me some water to sober up. He noticed that I had a limp, and I have never felt more humiliated when I was with my friends. We ended up going to Rip Rocks, Cool Beans, and the Garage with no issues due to my limp. I was served and thankfully had a great night regardless of the disservice I received at Lou's. I see another reviewer (Google reviews) had the exact same problem I did with Lou's and discrimination. He was a veteran! It is too bad when a soldier can take a bullet for his country but not allowed to have a beer. I would not have written a review if I would not have seen this veteran having a similar issue as I did. It is appalling. Instead of hiring any six-foot-tall-neanderthal who can bench press 200 lbs but struggles with lifting and turning the pages of a book, hire and train someone with some common decency. There is plenty of other bars in Denton that are available that treat all their guests with respect while upholding the law. Lou's is not one of them, and I would not recommend going. This is especially true if you plan on taking anyone who is self-conscious about a physical disability.
My friend got cut off from drinking yet they still allowed him to buy drinks for other people. That doesn't make any sense to either of us. Otherwise it was a decent place. Quite chill and laid back.
If I can leav 0 stars I would! Me and my best friend went there for first time and because the young lady who made my drink messed up on my drink and when I told her she had a bad attitude! I went back after that to order another drink before they closed and was refused a drink for no reason what so ever! When I asked to speak to a manager there was none! Idk what happened but it was not my best experience!
Worst bar ever. Owner is very rude to the people who have a small problem with they way they are treated by the bartenders and bouncer. I have NEVER met anyone who actually enjoys going to this bar. Save your time and money and got to ANY OTHER place.
drinks and atmosphere are alright however every time I visit and go to order I get ignored or walked passed by the bar tenders and will be waiting 10+ minutes to get acknowledged. I usually just wait because I assume they’re busy but then as soon as someone else walks up to the bar (usually a white person) they will get served immediately so at that point I just grab their attention because apparently walking up and standing at the bar side and making eye contact with the bartender isn’t obvious enough
