The place has a very great ambience very different from regular restaurants. The location is great with plenty of parking around. Our server was great and the food was great. The speed and the service in general was good. Would have preferred a larger menu but the one that was presented as the theatre menu had dishes that we did enjoy. The drinks felt slightly water downed because of too much ice. Will return sometime again and try a la carte menu, if available.
We dropped in with shorts and t shirts. We were welcomed with open arms. I don’t know much about French food and asked a ton of questions. Loved the duck confit appetizer. And the Japanese scallops were outstanding. We shared the Grand Marnier soufflé. We wanted to eat here for years and we are so happy to finally make it here.
Quality food as the name night suggest. Seared scallop with caviar was tender and flavourful. A wonderful experience.
My first Valentine's Day at Cuisine! The menu had so many flavorful things to choose from. Starting with the salad, black truffle risoto, beef sirloin, oysters and finishing with Rachel's bon bon's! Delightfully delicious and palatable! I highly recommend Cuisine and Chef Paul, Sous Chef Jordan, Pastry Chef Rachel, and Nancy, our Server....they are all incredible people who love what they do!
Looking for a special place for my girl’s birthday and nailed it. The food, service and atmosphere were all perfect. Rich was our server for the night and he made a very enjoyable evening for us. The cocktails and Rich’s wine recommendations for our dinner were perfect. The food was amazing and the perfect proportion amount of food so you can enjoy all that the amazing chef has to offer. We had tuna , oysters and Brussels sprouts for appetizers and sea bass and lamb entrees. 10/10. We are not normally desert eaters but it was her birthday and crazy good with a great presentation.
Cuisine Restaurant is a cozy and elegant place that offers contemporary French-American cuisine with a European touch. The menu changes seasonally and features a variety of dishes, from appetizers and salads to entrees and desserts. The chef-owner Paul Grosz is an award-winning culinary artist who showcases his skills and creativity in every plate. The wait staff is attentive and friendly, and the wine list is impressive. We had the pan grilled trout is phenomenal.
Edit: We came here for the first time in a while. Everything was still delicious, but it was disappointing that their menu was very limited, they didn’t have a la carte and only had a 3-course tasting menu. The portions were not enough so we were not full after finishing our meal. The seats by the windows were too dark. ——— Everything was delicious, we loved especially the cream spaghetti with caviar. I wish I could have taken the rest of the bread as it was great as well.
One of Detroit’s culinary gems. Chef Paul Grosz never dissapoints with his imaginative, French inspired dishes. I especially enjoy the Zinc Bar area which is one of my favorite get-away.
This is a beautiful, romantic spot for special occasions. From the time you arrive, the staff takes meticulous care of you. For those who don't imbibe, there's a list of delicious mocktails.
A Memorable Gourmet Experience at Chef Paul's Restaurant Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My fiancé Jennifer and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chef Paul's Grosz restaurant, and I must say, it was an unforgettable culinary experience. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting ambiance that set the tone for the evening. One of the highlights of our evening was the opportunity to meet Chef Paul himself. His passion for cooking was evident in every dish that graced our table. Jennifer opted for the scallops, and she was blown away by the delicate flavors and perfect sear of the dish. As for me, I indulged in the lamb chops, and they were simply divine. The meat was tender, succulent, and expertly seasoned. We started our meal with a selection of appetizers, each one more delectable than the last. The presentation was impeccable, and the flavors were harmoniously balanced. The attention to detail in every dish was truly remarkable. To complement our meal, we enjoyed a couple of expertly crafted cocktails. The mixology skills of the bartenders were commendable, and the drinks were a perfect blend of creativity and flavor. Throughout our dining experience, the staff demonstrated exceptional knowledge and attentiveness. They were attentive to our needs and provided insightful recommendations, making us feel like valued guests. Chef Paul's restaurant is a culinary gem that deserves every bit of praise it receives. From the impeccable service to the outstanding food quality, every aspect of our evening surpassed our expectations. We left feeling not only satisfied but also inspired by the artistry and expertise displayed in each dish. If you are seeking a dining experience that combines exceptional flavors, impeccable service, and a warm and inviting atmosphere, look no further than Chef Paul's restaurant. We wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who appreciates the finest in gourmet cuisine. Thank you, Chef Paul, for an unforgettable evening. We cannot wait to return and explore more of your culinary masterpieces.
Cuisine one of Best Detroit restaurants. Roasted oysters, Hamachi crudo, Sea Bass w/ shaved black truffle, A5 Kobe, Grand Marnier Souffle; Forget about it!! Perfect!
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Cuisine. The food was delicious and our server decorated our dessert for our anniversary. Perfect place for dinner when attending a performance at the Fisher Theater.
Fabulous dinner, best we have had in recent memory! Tuna Mango Tartare on risotto cakes, Paupiette of Shrimp stuffed Fluke on goat cheese grits, beef short rib, and spaghetti squash baked with butter and oranges. Chef Paul prepared everything perfectly, and Steve our server was awesome.
Very delicious French cuisine food Very good customer service And the price is reasonable
Exquisite is the only appropriate adjective. I have eaten at almost every significant dining experience in metro Detroit and this is the best. Nothing comes close. Every flavor. Every texture. You are immersed in the very best flavor of every dish you order. Japanese Wagyu is unbelievable. It is the very best steak I have ever had6in in my entire life. The mushrooms and potato cake that come with are nothing less than perfect. The scallops are world class. I have no idea how they can be so delicious. And literally every dish is prepared to perfection. There simply is no better restaurant in Detroit.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Cuisine, and I have to give a special shoutout to our waiter, Keegan. From the moment we sat down, Keegan was incredibly witty and brought such a great sense of humor to the table—it made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. He was not only attentive and helpful with recommendations but also truly kind and thoughtful throughout our meal. His presence elevated the entire dining experience, and I left feeling like we’d been in great hands the entire time. Keegan is exactly the type of person you want to have when dining out—he made it memorable, and I can’t wait to come back!
We had excellent service tonight and the tasting menu was fantastic. The chef really focused on letting the flavors of the ingredients shine rather than try to distract with a lot of unnecessary flare or gimmicks. The price was fair considering the portions of each of the courses, and also it was a special occasion so it was justified. I'll happily dine here again.
Wow phenomenal meal and fantastic jazz! The service was incredible. Every dish wanna marathon to my palate. I hated taking the last bite knowing that was the end to an amazing dining experience. Thank you 😊
Had their Mother's Day special. Green and white asparagus with a yummy morel sauce, Soft shell crab with julienne carrots, a side of saute fiddleheads (a rare treat!). For dessert was an espresso custard. We had a wonderful champagne with dinner that they recommended; it was very good. Of course they had a few other options for appetizer, entree and dessert, but I would have this meal again.
We had a wonderful experience. We booked a reservation here to catch dinner prior to Hamilton. The person taking the reservation was very helpful. Our waiter provided excellent service and a great wine recommendation. The price was beyond reasonable for the quality of the food served. This was our first visit, but certainly not our last.
Five star family dinner at Cuisine! We had a private seating upstairs with 20 people. Cozy fireplace great food excellent service. We really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend.
Beautiful food and a phenomenal wine list. . The Foie Gras is to die for, the best thing u have ever eaten! Rita
The food, service and atmosphere were impeccable. Every dish was a masterpiece. The foie gras was out of this world. HIGHLY recommend
Yesterday we enjoyed the Cuisine Theatre Menu prior to an evening performance at the Fisher Theatre, which is located just across the street from the restaurant. The food was excellent, the service was elegant, and the decor quite attractive. The spring salad was outstanding. Not inexpensive, but the prices were in line with the quality. I expect we will return the next time we see a show at the Fisher.
Hubby and I enjoyed our experience after a DSO event. Loved the Leek soup with smoked salmon while husband had the apple salad. We both enjoyed fish- Red Snapper and Sea Bass. Nice ambiance. Would recommend. Great service too!!
Been there a many times and it does not disappoint. Always delicious and convenient for Fisher theatre performances. Service is wonderful. The theatre menu is a great way to try dishes. Love that they have a few choices for white Bordeaux wines.
Was here during a business trip together with a colleague. I had the menu. My colleague the salad and charcuterie plate. Good, not excessive, portions. Tasted good but my colleague complained that the salad was way too salty. Nice place with a cosy atmosphere. Plenty of staff. Professional and efficient.
Food and service were excellent. Each dish was thoughtful and sophisticated. We’ve been planning to try Cuisine for years and when we finally made it, it did not disappoint!
A beautiful place to have a wonderful dining experience...I will definitely spend many special occasions here .it's just a fabulous place...if I could afford it I would go more often..it's tht great .. great staff...great food.. beautiful dining room...if u can get there . do it . you won't be disappointed at all♥️♥️ Sharon H
Cozy restaurant located across from the Fisher theatre offering a delicious menu of seasonal comfort foods and delicacies. The food is beautifully plated and served by a knowledgeable and attentive staff. Thank you Keegan for turning our meal into an experience to remember.
We went there for an anniversary dinner on the recommendation of a friend. This was by far the best dining experience for us. The food was excellent, the wines selected paired perfectly. The chef here is amazing.
One of the best places to eat in Detroit. Under the radar. The menu is sophisticated without being pretentious. I'm sure the place is probably packed when there is a show at the Fisher Theater, but you can almost have the place to yourself when there is no show scheduled. It's actually remarkable that it's not busier during these times. There are a lot of places in Detroit that get hyped and have lines and wait lists, but if you're in the mood for French inspired cuisine, this place never misses the mark. The menu is short... which is a good thing in my opinion. Everything is executed fantastically. I love the Diver Sole.
Amazing Staff, Always friendly, efficient professional and knowledgeable. Chef Paul is superb, each dish is perfectly seasoned, Imaginative and delicious. I love that it changes with each show at the Fisher. Great Wine selection. Definitely my go to for fine dining in Detroit!
Excellent Grouper Friday night. In fact all 3 courses were outstanding! The service was amazing as was our server. Hats off to the chef and owner for such a delicious culinary experience. For my first time there, I was impressed. Highly recommend this establishment before an event at the Fischer.
Amazing experience of combinations of flavors I have never experienced before.
Had tickets to a show, that was cancelled, leaving us more time to enjoy our dinner. Early reservations, so staff was very attentive, before they got very busy. Theater menu offered great options. I had the scallop topped with caviar, sirloin, and raspberry tart. Although I had requested a medium cook on my sirloin, it came medium rare, it was still absolutely delicious. We sat on the "porch" area, which apparently is a desirable table, but found it a bit chilly throughout dinner, hence the 3 stars for atmosphere, strictly due to table placement and climate. (Which I attribute to being on a "porch")Pricy? Yes, a definite dining experience, also yes!
The restaurant is in a historic old house, reminds me of being in France! The 3 course menu was perfect for before the theatre and we were finished with plenty of time to get to our seats. Wine list was excellent and service was quick and knowledgeable. And the food! Simply outstanding the scallop was great!
First off, Cuisine's cuisine is outstanding. This was our first time here and we will certainly return just NOT on a night where there is an event at the Fisher Theatre (we did have tickets). And it's not about the limited menu (I get that and we had excellent selections to choose from), it's just that it all seemed way too rushed. Maybe that's management's way of making sure no one missed the event opening, which is understandable (our event had a 25 minute seating delay if you missed the opening), but we booked our reservation at 2 hours and 15 minutes prior to start time so as not to have to worry about being rushed. I also thought (incorrectly) that booking so early we might get access to the full menu (nope). And I didn't get the sense that they were trying to turn our table to get another party in. The whole vibe just seemed a bit frantic. So if you don't mind feeling rushed, do go here on an event night. However, if the rest of the menu is as wonderful as the limited pre-fix, I'd highly recommend going when the Fisher is dark.
So i did love the ambiance of the place. The wine was good. Brussels Sprouts were really good as well as the Potato leek soup. The beef tenderloin i didn't really like. That was my fault though because i didnt ask before hand how it was cooked and it was rarer than i would've liked it to be. And the dessert; not exactly sure what was going on there.
A great small plate european restaurant. Truly a hidden gem.
It was a hot day and there was no air-conditioning! The caviar on a very tiny potato pancake was not worth $35 for an appetizer.
Evenings that there is a show at the fisher theater, only the tasting menu is available until about 7:30 when the rush clears. I mainly felt compelled to review to clarify that. We did have a nice experience there tonight; the waitress was great, the food was good, but overall 4 star quality when compared to other restaurants we've gone to around this price point (D. Prime, G.T. Prime, Gordon Ramsay Steak, etc.)
The staff are extremely nice & professional. The atmosphere was cozy & cute. I ordered the soft shell crab. Not only was it extremely tiny, it simply wasn't good. I did tell the waitress & she apologized but nothing was offered in place off & nothing was taken off the bill. The sides I ordered were decent. My Sister/Friend ordered the Lamb Chops. They came more rare than she likes. We realized they forgot to ask her how she likes them cooked. We split them (I like them the way they were cooked) I'd say, give it a try, if nothing else, for the atmosphere but if something is not right, ask & send it back. We didn't do that but should have (my friend had to get to her mom, so we had to go)
Before an event at the Fisher Theater, this was my second time at Cuisine. We booked our reservation a bit tight but were assured that we would have dinner in plenty of time. The salad was very salty, they replaced it without the dressing but the greens themselves were heavily salted. There was some delay in our entrees being served, and both, the fillet and the fish were very heavily salted. I almost never send something back, but might have this time if we were not so close to our time at the Fisher.
GREAT FOOD, Service…ehhhh. First, Our table was in a terrible spot due to being SO incredibly close to the table next to us that no conversation went unheard for either party and the other side was the server station again so close that I had to literally lean out of the way every single time someone walked by or risk taking a hip to the shoulder or elbowing someone in the leg and all of that was punctuated by the loud and never ending clang clang clang of silverware constantly being rattled right there. I get it it’s a server station I just don’t wanna be right next to it. Our 7:45 reservation was sat at 8:05 after a fruitless wait in the bar to order drinks from a bartender determined to wash every piece of dishes and counters before serving the 4 and counting couples piling up. Finally at our table we were very excited for what was sure to be incredible food. That did not disappoint. All the food was incredible! Our only complaint was the caviar portion was frankly offensive (1/2 tsp at BEST?! Really?) and it was served on a tiny potato cake that was ICE COLD!! Besides that every bite of everything was phenomenal. But here’s the thing, as someone with an extremely extensive background in fine dining, people will forgot great food all day long over poor service. The maitre d was great! Nice, attentive and was always doing something to ensure a smooth service. The female hostess had the worst phone etiquette, never smiled and looked miserable to be there. Our server…wasn’t bad but he wasn’t great. Exactly what you’d expect at an Outback Steakhouse. He Talked so fast we could never understand him, he was so rushed….I guess? That his total time at our table I would bet money was less than 2min the whole night. My husband tried to surprise me with birthday candles for our dessert course, but he forgot them. Call me crazy but a $400 tab for 2 people should come standard with exceptional service. People can get good, even great food for WAY less. “Fine dining” cost a lot bc the service is as important as the food. I don’t need to be treated like the Queen of England but for that kind of money i want to be more important than an Outback Steakhouse guest. 3 stars but a strong 3. Will happily recommend to others but hope they have a better service experience.
My New Year's eve 2020 started great! I was visiting my bf's family. They were very happy to see me and wanted to treat me to some great local food. Since last year they had a great experience with Cuisine they decided to have dinner there this year again. The only dishes that I liked were the lobster bisque soup and pasta with caviar. Everything else was not worth the money charged. Especially the desserts. It tasted like they didn't make them by themselves but just bought them. Overall I would give this place a better review if they didn't charge around $600 for 4 people...so expensive for such poor food. I remember when me and my bf were at White Rabbit in Moscow for 2019 New Year's eve. He also paid 150 per person but that was ELITE food.
Had the Valentine’s Day tasting menu and was really disappointed. I made a reservation for the dining room but they moved us upstairs without asking and had completely changed the tasting menu from when I first booked the reservation, including removing one of the courses and increasing the prices for some dishes. Food itself was okay but over-salted and overpriced for what you’re getting. Service was also mediocre, although they may have just been overwhelmed and understaffed that night. Not as important, but the decor is completely outdated and tacky. It’s almost ironically charming at first but really it’s just embarrassing. I don’t mean to be mean and maybe it was just a bad night but if you’re going to charge these prices and attempt to offer an upscale dining experience, you have to do better. There are a lot of better fine dining options in the city.
I wish I could give this place a good review. The first time I went was for New Years Eve 10 years ago and it was magical. I went back to celebrate the New Year with my extended family and again had a wonderful experience. However, this most recent New Year we had an atrocious time. Out of all the courses there was maybe only one that was even tasty. I know the chef there is capable of some amazing things but he really dropped the ball this year. Overcooked duck? Dry beef? One tiny piece of lobster with half a boiled egg on a giant plate? It was a joke! Despite these setbacks I would rate it more highly but the price of 150 per head was really too much. Due to the price I will not risk coming back here.
Not welcoming to single diners. Was told singles sit at the bar even With a reservation. Steve, my waitperson made up for what started badly. He was professional, knowledgeable and sat me in the dining room. The food was ok. The lobster croquette was delicious as was dessert. The halibut was overcooked and dry but the leek risotto was was delicious. Will not dine there again but glad I tried it
Can't even rate the food. Sat for 10 minutes before anyone approached our table. When one finally showed up she offered water and was sporting a Trump bracelet. No matter how I feel about politics, not appropriate for a fine dining establishment. Water took another 5 minutes then a different person asked about drinks. Ordered a bottle of wine, he brought wrong wine, by a long shot! No one asked about food, it was the theater menu only so it wasn't a difficult choice. So after sitting for 20 minutes we left. I believe the food is spectacular but the front of the house is very poorly run amd managed. We won't return.
