Savory flavors that exploded with the first sight, sniff, and an explosion at first taste. Devoured Chilequiles (rojo) con Tamal de rajas and Chilequiles Trio with Birria. Cafe de olla was perfect. No creamer or sugar needed. The concha was an added sweet and tender addition with cafe. Definitely will return. Had to order the menudo con para to go. The menudo aromas were so hypnotic. I didn’t want to get a granito on my tongue for not trying it.

My mom’s friend Lupita ordered the small menudo and immediately fell in love with it—she described it as having the perfect kick of heat without overwhelming the dish. My mom, Martha, enjoyed the large menudo and couldn’t stop praising how delicious and comforting it was, rich with depth and tradition in every spoonful. I had the costillas en salsa verde with beans and rice, and wow—what a plate. The ribs were incredibly tender, and the salsa verde had a rich, vibrant flavor that wasn’t spicy, just perfectly balanced. Every bite felt homemade, like something straight from a family kitchen. To top it all off, our waitress Diana was superb. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming, she made us feel right at home and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We left full, happy, and already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend!

Wow, just wow! We decided to try Mr. Menudo in Downey, and it completely blew us away. The food was absolutely amazing! I'm a huge menudo fan, so I went for the large menudo with both pata and grano. It was perfect. The broth was rich, and the taste was just exquisite—deep, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you order a classic. My partner had the Chilaquiles Mr. Menudo, and they were also a huge hit. The first thing she noted was the generous portion size; it was massive! But more importantly, the taste was incredibly authentic and delicious. She loved every bite. To top it all off, the service was fantastic. Our server, Marta, was incredible—so friendly, attentive, and really made the experience special. We will absolutely be coming back. Mr. Menudo is a new favorite!

This is the best menudo hands down! I absolutely love the menudo with nervio and hold the grano please! It has the perfect spice, flavor and comes with all the condiments to compliment the menudos full potential. 😋 I have eaten at the restaurant once during the week and it was still very busy. I normally order my food to go. The wait to get a table is usually long and very crowded. It would be a great idea to have a separate pick up area for the to-go orders. People crowd around the door and look at you funny when you ask if they are waiting to get their name on the seating list. I'm not trying to cut the line... I had the menudo and coffee and both really hit the spot. The menudo was very flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, tender meat, just the right amount of spice, and fresh hominy. The coffee surprised me too, smooth and bold, great alongside the meal. You can tell everything is made fresh. Sandy and Memo had great customer service and pitched there favorite plate on the menu ! The prices were like any other sit down restaurant, and worth the hype on social media. Arrive knowing you’ll have wait times on the weekends at least. We got a text when our table was ready which was nice. Food was amazing. Service was great, friendly and efficient. Portions are huge so come hungry and know you can always take it to go.

We had the menudeo, Gorditas (a corn flour pocket bread stuffed with ingredients) and Chilaquiles (a traditional Mexican breakfast dish made with fried tortillas cut into triangles simmmerd in salsa and covered with garnishes). They are popular and the food is fantastic! Our server was Carmen and she was very attentive.

The menudo smelled a bit like pata. I thought i wasn't going to enjoy it, when I tasted it. I loved it so much. The meat was soft and delicious. It was a bit spicy. Arrived about 8:10 and the line was about 20 people long. We were sat as soon as the door opened. Fast and friendly customer service by Memo! The tables were already prepped with chips/salsa and limes/onion/cilantro. Dad loved his Cafe Ola came with a concha on the side and I had a Michelada that was good. Martha our server was amazing! Chilaquiles are delicious, menudo was ok, good portion but the smell kills it. ( yes I know what part of the cow it is) just was not cooked properly so the smell is super strong.

We have eaten here many times before this review. The food is always exceptional. The service is almost always on point. The atmosphere is top tier. That being said, why the 4 star review? Let me explain... I don't know if it was a printing error or system error, but the menu price didn't match the receipt price. The staff were apologetic and did fix the issue. However, they didn't do it correctly. It took them a while to figure out how to handle it, and in the end, the $5 difference was taken from the end total, not the subtotal, and taxes were not recalculated. I didn't make a huge deal about it in person, and I still left a reasonable tip (in cash) based on subtotal, NOT total after taxes. I'm pretty sure other customers aren't aware of the discrepancy. I guess it's just the accountant in me. If prices are of no concern to you, you should definitely eat here and enjoy the delicious food! (Photos from a previous visit.)

Very nice place, still christmas decorations up which we love. Festive music! Food was delicious and authentic with complementary chips which were really good. Came with toppings for the menudo which was nice, and obviously like the name, the menudo was rich and perfect on a cold morning. The service was also very good our weiter was so nice and constantly checked up on us. Tortillas tasted fresh and were warm. Yummy experience will be back.

Service was very slow probably due to little staff and crowded. They never brought me the extra salsa for chips that I was going to pay for. I had to ask twice for extra lemons. They made a mistake in my food and seemed hesitate to correct my order. Then to top it off we found a piece of hard ahrp broken plastic in the menudo. We didn't say anything because we thought they would think we were trying to get a free meal. It was my first time and a bad experience.

Today l stopped by Mr menudo in Downy. I was ignored by the entrance by a lady with a curly hair which l don’t know if she was the manager and the host at the entrance even do l am handicapped they don’t consider us. I had to leave and go to la Barca restaurant. I had a couple of orders to purchase at MR menudo. To bad l had that experience. Hopefully from now and on you put more attention to customers not just the paycheck. I understand is busy hour but at least great customers. I’m going to spend 300.00 dollars at la Barca and not Mr menudo today.
