A first time visit and was very impressed. Lovely welcome, helpful and knowledgeable staff who offered suggestions and explained the dishes we were interested in. We had Vietnamese Rolls & Bao Buns, both with Soft Shell Crab Tempura to start and Seafood Tom Yum for mains, which was plentiful and delicious. To drink - Tropical New Fashioned one sweet and one spicy , both a good choice. We arrived at 3pm the opening time on a Saturday which was quite so we'll definitely be back to experience the atmosphere when it's busy.
The food was excellent. The bang bang mayo chicken wings had a delicious sauce with a lasting aftertaste, and the panko tiger prawns were perfectly crunchy on the outside yet light, without the heaviness of batter. The green curry was absolutely outstanding, rich in flavor and with a great texture, highly recommended. I also enjoyed the pad kee mao, which was less spicy than I expected but still beautifully seasoned. The staff were attentive and genuinely kind, making the experience even better. The place itself is comfortable, with background music at just the right volume, enough to set the mood while still allowing easy conversation without raising your voice.
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to.
Really great experience! The food was super tasty and they offered vegan and gluten-free options without any problem. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Even though it was quite busy, it wasn’t too loud – perfect for a relaxed meal. Service was excellent: very friendly, fast, and attentive. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for delicious food and a nice vibe!
Had a wonderful date night at Opium! The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and beautifully presented. The ambiance was perfect for a cozy evening out. A special shoutout to our server, Bruno—he was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had a great experience. Will definitely be back!
A Perfect Date Night Spot We had a wonderful date night at Opium on Wexford Street, Dublin. The food was absolutely delicious—full of flavour and beautifully presented. The cocktails were just as impressive, crafted with care, and packed with personality. Even without a booking, we were able to sit at the bar, which turned out to be a great experience. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made us feel completely welcome, even taking the time to chat and guide us through the menu. The ambience was warm and inviting—perfect for a cosy evening out. Overall, it was a fantastic night and a spot we’ll definitely return to.
Went here after almost 2 years for a Friday lunch and had a delightful experience. The Manager welcomed us zealously. This place has a nice cozy ambience. Overall service was fantastic, attended by different staffs and all of them were very friendly. The food was delicious, sufficient portion quantity and fairly priced. Non-alcoholic cocktails were nice. Added to my revisit list.
We joined good few concerts in Opium. Good venue for smaller events.
Work Xmas lunch was a winner! Food was delicious and the staff took perfect care of my gluten free requirements. The bar is also a really cozy spot. Would love to return!
I went for the yellow curry and fried rice and it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Having been to Thailand, it was definitely up there with their curries! Really impressed! Lovely atmosphere and great service. Cocktails were great too! I look forward to returning!
A quirky outdoor dining experience during these strange times! The staff were very friendly and attentive. I had mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday in the booking and they brought out a surprise dessert for us with candles, a simple generous touch to some very satisfied customers! Food was also delicious. Would highly recommend!
One of the best meals I’ve had. Starters, mains and desserts were fantastic… the cocktails and mocktails too!! Definitely have to try the Mango Sticky Rice.
The food it's a little bit pricey but the place definitely worth it. The drinks are delicious and the food portions are great. I highly recommend the brownie if you getting dessert and the margarita. The place is quiet, inside can be quite romantic and the garden area is very bright
We went on a Wednesday before a gig in Whelans, incredible food and cocktails. Very nice service by Bruno too, highly recommend.
Absolutely delicious food, coming from someone who is very particular. Best monkfish dish and brownie dessert I've had in years! Great service, reasonable prices and lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!
We had been to their restaurant and the food was really good. Tried their Lemongrass chicken and I have to say, was one of the best ones I've ever had. If you're looking for large portions then wouldn't recommend but if you're looking for quality then definitely, why not. The staff were really good as well.
The staff is lovely, Bruno was very nice and the food was amazing, highly recommended! We will be back definitely!
Without a shadow of a doubt the best stake I ever had. Yes the prices are a bit high but absolutely well worthed. Amazing cocktails also. My husband is a chef and he had his best meal ever. Well done to the chef! I usually don't leave reviews anywhere but this place is great! Extremely helpful and friendly staff also. Well done 👏
What a wonderful experience this was. From the staff to the food and drinks, everything was perfect. When for the Christmas menu and was not disappointed. Sat on the garden which was very nice and not as loud as the dinning room itself, so was able to keep a good conversation all throughout the dinner. The Pad Thai was on point and the starters were delicious! The staff was extremely helpful and always there. Definitely a "will be again soon" situation.
I have been to this restaurant a couple of times. The inside, as well as the outside garden, is cozy and comfortable for seating. I love they have boxes for seating, perfect for smaller groups, so you have your space while enjoying the food which is not the case in every restaurant in Dublin. The food is delicious (more spicy than usual, even the least spicy food can be a challenge if you prefer mild food). My favorite ones are bao buns and spring rolls. They do a variety of cocktails for a reasonable price. The service is quick and friendly. We received food promptly after ordering and the waitress helped us with a selection of food we received a bill immediately after asking.
Lovely food. Great service. It was early in the evening so not much atmosphere but you don't expect that at 5.30pm. The Negroni was very good, and they dealt with my wife's food allergies really well.
Just been to Opium.... WOW WOW WOW! Staff were so attentive it could easily have you blush. Food was amazing, brought use back to our time spent on Koh Samui with our go to Pad Thai. If you want great food, service and a very reasonable €6.20 for a pint of Heineken you really cannot go wrong by heading to Opium. Without doubt we will definitely be regular customers. Thanks again to the staff and chefs amazing day .
📍 Opium, Dublin Date Night 💕 What I ordered 📝: Pok Pok Chicken Wings 🍗(€8) Sweet Potato Fries 🍟(€4.50) Green Curry w/ Chicken & Fried Rice 🍚(€14.50) Tropical Tuk Tuk🍹(€12) Dark Chocolate Brownie 🍰(€8) I've been waiting to go to Opium for the longest time and it did not disappoint! 🤩 So we sat up at the Botanical Garden which was beautiful. 😍 We went for the Pok Pok Chicken Wings and Sweet Potato Fries as our starters. Delicious. 🤌🏾🤌🏾The fries came with a Red Curry Aioli side dip which worked great with them (and the chicken wings too lol). The chicken wings were great too! They were filled with a lot of flavour and served with a ranch dip. Although it went well with the ranch dip, we both preferred the curry dip with the wings. The green curry is already spicy 🌶 having 3 chilies next to it on the menu, but when the server asked if I would like it even spicer I said why not and absolutely regret nothing. 😌The curry was packed with flavour too and perfectly spiced. 👌🏾The only small downfall was I almost forgot I was eating a chicken curry and not a vegetable curry. There were about 3 tiny little pieces of chicken in there. So my little advice for Opium would be to add a bit more chicken please 🥺🥲 The Tropical Tuk Tuk y'allll! And I know you're eyeing that lovely tropical-looking drink in the tall glass but nope that isn't it. The clear one in that little cup was a delightful surprise. 🤩I think I may have visibly frowned when the server brought over this drink because she had to quickly explain that despite the appearance it was really nice and she was right! If you're into coconut & tropical flavoured drinks, this is for you! 😉Nothing about this was overpowering and the flavours complemented each other perfectly. 🙌🏾 The chocolate brownie was nice too. I do enjoy nuts in my food but for this brownie, it just wasn't doing anything for either of us. But we simply pushed them to the side and continued enjoying our dessert. 😌😌 Would I return? Yes, Yes and Yes. Once again it was a beautiful restaurant, the food was really good and our server was amazing! 💯⭐️ 💫 Fun Fact: I already recommended this place to one of my friends, and he and his date enjoyed it too so that’s some further feedback for y’all 😉
We dined at the al fresco section and let me tell you, the ambiance is really nice. Clean place and not cramped at all! Waiting crew were so friendly and the service was impeccable. Food was good but the cocktails were great!!
Greta staff and food!!!! I went for a birthday night out with a friend and had so much fun and nice food, we had shaking beef a nice welcome prosecco and also a lovely dark chocolate brownie with ice cream on too yummy yummy Strongly recommend this place
Last week, we celebrated our friends birthday in Opium which is located in Wexford Street, Dublin, and I must say, it was an exceptional culinary experience. The ambiance was captivating with its stylish décor and inviting cool atmosphere. The menu boasts a tantalizing array of authentic Thai and Vietnamese dishes, each a masterpiece of flavor and presentation. Each plate is a work of art, meticulously crafted with fresh ingredients and bold flavors. Opium Restaurant on Wexford Street captures the essence of Thai and Vietnamese cuisine in the heart of Dublin. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Thai or Vietnamese food or new to its delights, a visit to Opium is a must. It's a culinary journey that will transport your taste buds to the vibrant streets of Thailand while enjoying the comforts of a charming Dublin setting.
Great service and on Xmas Eve the staff were fantastic as they have been last 4 as always make the trip into Wexford Street for this restaurant. Escape the hassle and bustle, fusion Asian food and chilled music in background makes for a great lunch or dinner
Hidden up an alleyway, absolute gem of a place. As far as I know the front of this place is an Indian restaurant? Went here with a couple of mates, Oliver Dollar was on that night. Cheap entry, good staff and great drink promotions (considering Dublin is pretty expensive). 2 rooms and a VIP upstairs with some comfy couches to sit on. Quality venue for a rave, highly recommended 🎵
We went at a reasonable hour and with a reservation, the panko tiger pown was amazing, the shaking beef was delicious, I really liked the mekong duck, the thai pineapple fried rice was a masterpiece. The cheesecake for dessert was legendary.
Very incredible food here! Really lovely at evening/night time. The service was great! I highly recommend this restaurant.
My experience in this restaurant was amazing. I came with my sister and we eat a lot. The food was amazing, the service was incredible. Thank you, Jefferson! Thank you the whole restaurant! I left from there felling like 50 kg more the my normal weight!
Had the loveliest meal here at a Christmas do last night. The waitress couldn’t have been lovelier and more accommodating with dietary requirements and the food was absolutely delicious. Christmas set menu food is often average at best but this was absolutely fab food and service. Thank you for a lovely evening
Visiting Opium restaurant was a great experience overall, with a fun and lively atmosphere to kick things off. We started with some fantastic appetizers that set the tone for the evening, and the drinks were flowing, adding to the upbeat vibe. The menu was impressive, offering a variety of dishes that made it hard to choose. Everyone in the group ordered something different, and the food overall was well-prepared and flavorful. I decided to try the steak, the only one on the menu, thinking it would be a standout option. The price was a bit higher than average, which raised my expectations. I ordered it medium, but unfortunately, it arrived well-done. While I did notify the staff, who graciously offered to replace it, I chose not to, as I didn’t want to waste food. To their credit, they provided a complimentary drink to make up for it, which was a thoughtful gesture. Despite this small hiccup, the overall experience was enjoyable, from the friendly service to the vibrant ambiance. I’d definitely recommend visiting Opium for its great starters, drinks, and lively atmosphere—it’s a place worth trying!
This is the first time I tried Tamarind Chicken Wings and they were delicious. Green Curry was like any other Green Curry. Might go back for starters.
the staff was friendly, but the wait for food could be a bit slow, even though there was few people in there restaurant. They give you alot of food and it has good flavor. It atmosphere was a bit dark, had to use my phone light to read the menu. Good selection of food.

The cooks at play are really something Loved the Ref Thai prawn curry served with some well cooked egg fried rice, scanty egg bits but rice cooked just right. Loved my sweet and spicy cocktail , the passion something , its second on the menu and mmmm so delicious. My accompanied friends tell me that the lamb clay pot was prepared well. 100% recommended for good food. Facilities kept CLEAN , which is rare to see in DUBLIN Happy travels
Came here for a gig. The place is nice, amazing acoustic. Toilets clean and well maintained, there was a cloakroom (even though I didn't use it). The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the bar was missing some zero draft beers, like Heineken or Guinness zero alcohol. Just bottles, which I don't think it tastes as good as from the tap. The regular beers were great.
Great place to go to as a group! They have a Christmas group deal for about €45 where you get a big platter to share between four people with all of the starters, alongside a main and dessert. It’s a great way for you and your mates to get introduced to the restaurant itself. The share platter: The tempura prawns and pork belly were by far the most delicious on the plate. The pork belly was melt in your mouth and so tender For main I got the Mekong duck with fried rice. Very nice broth, duck was tender and the greens used really balance out the meal as a whole. Highly recommend the above dish. There were only two options for dessert (or champagne) in this menu. I got the mango parfait, the cream used for the outside part tasted off and was described as lemongrass. My tastebuds might still be uncultured but the cream did indeed taste weird. I got a bite of the brownie and that was far more preferable compared to the mango parfait.
Lunch time the ambience is well lit and cozy. Nice and accomodating staff. The location is close to bus stops if ur travelling. Food is great. The cocktails could give more punch, otherwise all is good. Will come back.
I and my bf visited this place on valentines day. We thought of having starters and drinks. But they demanded us to take the Valentines day menu i.e. a three-course meal and free cocktail. This is the only thing, we do not like about this restaurant. Apart from this, we enjoyed the food and cocktail drinks. Starters were appealing. we ordered Pad Thai noodles and Lemongrass chicken and both are scrumptious. We had Full moon sour, Mango Bang bang, The butterfly effect and Plumdog millionaire and highly recommend these cocktails. Double chocolate brownie is to die to have again. You will not be disappointed.
Lovely restaurant for a nice gathering with friends. They accomodate for group bookings as well contact them for a group menu. I believe we paid 28€ for 2 courses each. Prices was very reasonable, service was relatively quick.
I loved the food and ambiance, it’s a great place to have dinner with your friends💯 You should definitely try the Dynamite Prawns, I recommend that 💯💯💯 I am not giving it a 5 star as I am leaving that for the food that will make me shed tears of joy 🤣🤣 It’s a great place, you should definitely visit.
Food choice and quality was excellent. Friendly and efficient staff. Restaurant was very dark but good vibe.
Normally the food here is A+ but today we got wings half covered in sauce and a completely cold steak. Everything else was good and it’s been great every other time we’ve gone. Cocktails and wine were great.
Overall, a nice place with a lovely ambiance—candlelit tables set a great mood. I dined alone, and while that’s usually no big deal, the staff made me feel a little out of place. At one point, while I was just taking in the atmosphere, the waitress jokingly said I looked lost, which felt a bit off-putting, but whatever. The food is their take on Thai cuisine—let me emphasize that. If you’re expecting traditional Thai flavors, you might be surprised. I ordered the Tom Kha, and unfortunately, the mussels had sand fleas. Not sure if that’s on them or a vendor issue, but it wasn’t ideal. Overall, it was an okay experience. I’d probably go back but would order something different. Seems like a solid spot for groups rather than solo dining.
Food was lovely, however felt a bit like herded cattle with the seating arrangements. Restaurant was far from full, yet sat us beaide another couple, less than 2 feet away. Felt like we were sitting with them for their dinner, yet easily another 6-7 tables free around. Food was very nice. Cocktails were lovely. Very very expensive though. 2 x 3 course and 2 cocktails came to nearly €160
Hard to describe, excellent staff in general, but we went for meal and paid for the gig. The bouncers were really rude kicking people out after the band finished playing. Disgrace at the end but all other staff including door staff were fantastic. A
Its a nice atmosphere and we enjoyed the dynamite shrimps. However, the experience was not as expected from a respected restaurant like opium. My friend ordered drinks and the glasses had a rotten smell. The staff nicely changed it to clean ones but made us question the cleanness of the kitchen. We ordered mains that were dry and terribly eggy (the prawns were even coated with fried egg). I told the staff who took my plate back the kitchen and came back after two minutes telling me that it is a new one- a new cooked main in two minutes? This is ridiculous. I could only eat 1/4th of my plate as it made me very nauseous with a stomach distress after! And when i told the staff who asked me if I enjoyed my meal she didn’t bother saying anything and i just left nicely. Should i be one of those people who fight in restaurants to get a value for their stay? Please let me know.
Today was my first time at Opium, where I chose to celebrate my birthday with a small group of friends (five people). The venue is beautiful and has a nice atmosphere; however, the service was poor from start to finish. We were initially served by a staff member who was unfriendly and appeared uninterested. Shortly after, another staff took over and was quite unprofessional and also uninterested. He interacted with only one person at a time, with visible impatience, which resulted in orders being taken individually rather than for the table as a whole. As a consequence, the food arrived at different times. Throughout the service, his attitude was consistently sullen, making us feel as though we were inconveniencing him. Additionally, the restaurant was still offering a limited holiday menu, with very few options available. On a positive note, the food itself was good, and the kitchen staff were kind enough to replace a dish that was excessively spicy. At the end of the meal, we were offered a complimentary brownie, which was a thoughtful gesture. Despite these points, the overall experience was disappointing.
I went to an over 30's day/night here a weekend ago,, Bed by Ten, omg it was a terrible evening,, horrible place, terribly arranged,, the place ran out of drink dj walked off n left the set,, the same song playing over n over again, no tablets to put our drink on n it said to be there by 4 and the doors didn't open till 5 id never ever go near the place again!!!!
