I think I ate the best salad I've ever had in my life here. You can taste many different dishes in small portions at once. My favorite system. I really liked their cocktails also. I will go again and again.

Stunning! We stumbled across this Tapas Restaurant accidentally, and our impromptu visit was welcomed (I think we were lucky, you may be safer booking as it was busy) Love the decor and atmosphere. Fabulously authentic Menu, beautiful wines. Look forward to a return visit.

Really high quality delicious tapas at a reasonable price with a great selection. They had plenty of options including veggie and vegan tapas. The service was outstanding too!

The Port house is a fantastic little tapas spot with consistently delicious food. All the dishes are Spanish-style small plates, packed with flavour and perfect for sharing. Inside, the atmosphere is cosy and rustic with dim lighting, stone floors and very small tables, giving it that intimate old-European vibe. I’ve sat outside a few times, but just be aware there can be smokers and the odd person hanging around, so I usually opt for indoors. Overall though, it’s a solid 10/10 for food and I always make a point of coming back whenever I’m in the area

Lovely cellar like decor and delicious tapas. There are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free options available and they are really mindful of the dietary restrictions. Ended up sitting down for around 2 hours and kept ordering food. Definitely recommend

This place has such a great ambience, really cool place at a cool location. The food and the service is fantastic. Great wine list too. Despite having some kitchen challenges, they accommodated everything we wanted and more. Definitely will go back.

This place has such a great ambience, I loved the atmosphere of this place too! The food and the service is fantastic. The waitress gave me her recommendations and it was really good. I’ve been to this restaurant 3 times and always packed. I’m so happy that I have found this lovely restaurant in Dublin. Definitely will go back.

A very nice food experience. Portion sizes are just right. Pollo croquettes were the nicest and the desserts were excellent too. Highly recommend this place.

It has multiple floors and ambiance on the top floor is lovely. We ordered a lot of tapas. Some dishes were good tasting while some were great. Loved their steamed salmon on the slice of baguette, padron peppers, veg paella, chicken skewers, and mushrooms on the slice of baguette. Their sangria felt a bit watery.

Been there many times with my boyfriend and my mom. We like this place. I love it. The staff is nice and friendly. Love it because it gives me Spanish vibes. Live the little tables outside where I can sit, have a drink and a snack, enjoy it and entertain myself while watching people walking up and down the street…

One of the best food experiences I've ever had. The ambiance is wonderful, we felt we were dining in a wine cellar, filled with candles everywhere. The music was also great (they played one of my favorite, not so popular bands). We shared many different tapas and they were absolutely mouth watering delicious! We ended our evening with yummy dessert. Go for the custard pies, they're the bomb!

This was my second time to eat here. I love their whole vibe. The food was amazing, the staff were very friendly and it all came at an excellent price. 100% would recommended here for excellent food and wine.

After eating our way across the southern half of Ireland finding The Port House just a short walk from The Grafton Hotel was great!! Small plates of very well prepared food and an excellent selection of Spanish wine!

Sure — here’s a polished but natural Google review you can paste straight in: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely superb tapas restaurant. The food was outstanding and the menu is massive with loads of variety — something for everyone. Everything we tried was delicious. The staff were genuinely lovely and made us feel really welcome, and the cocktails were excellent too. Great atmosphere all round. Highly recommended and will definitely be back.

Stopped by Port House with friend for a quick drink and ended up staying for a full port tasting and so glad we did. Adi, our host, was amazing with recommendations. We tried four different aged ports and ordered four small dishes, all of which were delicious. We originally planned for just one glass but the service and vibe completely won us over. Loved the atmosphere, we sat outside but the inside looked great too. Not too bad spot for a date also. I’ll definitely be back.

Really nice and cosy atmosphere. I was staying in Dublin for business and come across this by Googling "wine house". Superb customer service, very nice wine and delicious food. Did go back there with my colleague a day after my first visit and would definitely go back again. The only thing I would improve is more lighting at the table, as it wasn't easy to read the menus.

Nice place for little bites to share. Loved the patatas bravas, prawns pill pill, mini bruschettas, fried scampi. A bit disappointed on the dessert side but that didn't ruin our dinner Happy atmosphere around

First time here. It was really nice. The atmosphere was lovely, not loud, food was amazing and the staff were friendly and helpful too. Little hidden gem of a place. Definitely coming back again.

Perfect restaurant for a valentine 💝 dinner. Beautiful romantic decor, candlelight, extensive wine list, and an amazing menu. Love tapas. Ordered the croquettes sampler, butternut empanadas, patatas mix, spinach caneloni, seared scallop, and a cheese sampler. Shared everything and everything was just amazing! Mixed drink was perfection and the wine was super. My favorite was the butternut empanadas, which just burst with flavor and the spinach caneloni melted in your mouth!

Great tapas and atmosphere! They offered Gluten Free options including bread. Staff was professional and friendly too.

I've eaten here a few times and have always thoroughly enjoyed myself. It's quirky decor and excellent food usually provide a great dining experience and I would usually and probably still will highly recommend it. So we thought it would be a great place to bring our French guests. Booking was for 7.30 on a Saturday. There, was a slight delay being seated as they were very busy and I would not usually mention it as I have been the cause of such delays on occasion BUT the first plate of food did not hit our table until after 9. In a tapas / pinchos type restaurant where food can often be delivered in minutes this was beyond my experience and painfully embarrassing in the company. To be fair the manager did make concessions in the bill which was appreciated and the removed service charge was returned in the payment as the staff, I felt, were doing there best in difficult circumstances. This was a lovely experience seriously tarnished. Please take fewer bookings or hire more staff

Really enjoyed my experience here. Lovely atmosphere, very attentive service and delicious food. Our server, Vivi, was wonderful. There is also a really fantastic selection of food. I'm vegan and the person dining with me is not, and we both got fantastic meals. Lots of options for everyone. Highly recommend!

Our recent visit to Port House in Dublin was an absolute delight from what I can still remember, from the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the cozy and vibrant ambiance that exuded a unique blend of elegance and charm. The menu at Port House showcases a wide array of delectable tapas, The quality and freshness of the ingredients were evident in every bite, the flavors were perfectly balanced. The service at Port House was also exemplary, with attentive and friendly staff members who were always ready to cater to any request. While the prices at Port House may be slightly higher than average, the overall experience justifies every penny spent. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Port House to anyone seeking an extraordinary dining experience in Dublin. Whether you're a fan of tapas, a wine enthusiast, or simply appreciate exceptional service, Port House is sure to exceed your expectations.

I’ve eaten here a couple of times and it never disappoints. They serve traditional tapas and there is a decent selection. Service is excellent and the staff are friendly. There is also a very good selection of wine and cocktails.

For our last dinner in Dublin we decided to do something different than Irish or Pub food so this place was recommended by a local guy at the pub and sure enough it was a hit for us. Awesome tapas, wine and beautifully decorated as an intimate cava style restaurant. The mixed croquetas (Pollo and Chorizo), duck caneloni, blood sausage (morcilla) with quail eggs were the highlights, but we ordered many other tapas and all of them were very well prepared. Dessert was also spectacular. We'll come back for sure if we are back to this city.

Amazing accommodating staff, delicious food in small tapas sized portions and great selection of wine! Only downside was we came at a very busy time on a Friday and the food took 20mins to arrive but the staff were apologetic and did try to speed up as much as they could

I didn’t try the food, just one dessert and some drinks and they were lovely, they have a cool space and fast service. Everyone was truly kind but Agostina (I think that’s her name) was with a huuuge smile every time that she went in my table. Thank you guys!

Great tasting food served in healthy portions for tapas, served fast as well. Not much personality in service although it’s tough to communicate with anyone even your own dining partner on a packed night.

Still my favourite Port House and that's down to the staff. The food was absolutely magnificent to though! A highlight was the Portobello mushroom & black pudding that came out on toasted French baguette. I would say...it would be great if there was a small "touch" lamp or something in the middle of the table so people could read the paper menu. I got blinded from everywhere by people putting on their torch phones to read the menu. That or put them on a clipboard that has a little spotlight. It just breaks the atmosphere and as a neurodiverse person the bright light in my face kept making me jump or get disorientated. A coat rack also? We came during pouring rain and our coats were put behind the bar but when we went to leave, they were thrown in a pile on a low stool and were sopping still.

Menu and food was fabulous I would definitely come back for the food! Quick to receive the food but you were almost ignored after that, it took a long time to try and order another drink. The waiter started taking plates we were still eating from and took my partners cocktail that had only been half drank.. I personally enjoyed the atmosphere, it was dark and cosy but you’re very close to other tables so I don’t believe it’s for everyone. It’s loud and the noise bounces around the room because it’s a cave like structure, again I didn’t mind this but it’s not for everybody.

The cute place for a date or a girls night out. When we were there 90% or the tables were busy - so I suggest booking. They offer tapas and wine : u can do bottle or per glass. Prices are rather reasonable. The best thing is the staff - very helpful and fun! Would be back

We had a very nice night at the Port House. The place is very cosy, with wide selection of wines, other drinks and nice food options. Their tapas menu is also comprehensive and you can surely find many tasty things on it. This time, I really loved their croquettes and mini burgers! Patatas bravas was not our favourite here.. Definitely a place I would recommend to anyone who wants to spend some nice time out with friends or as a couple date.

Lovely atmosphere, affordable and nice food, the dim lighting makes all the difference and the variations of food ensures something for everybody, I am eager to be back. Definitely enjoyed The Port House 😋.

This is the right place to have late dinner, cozy vibes and there’re heaters outside. Food is also good, always love a Sangria. But the price is a bit high relatively. May have other better options regarding tapas.

Hi I'm really disappointed that the Spanish tapas place i used to love is gone. Changing gurtmet xhistorras for full of sauce bread and the amount of sauce in patatas is not great (it could be on the side.) I loved this place years and decided to bring my team but the food is not the same at all. Please do not change a nice delicate toast for a big bread that destroy the scence of Spanish food. My friend ended up eating a sandwich and me cleanes the xhistorras. Also sauce on he side or normal portion. Even Spanish music was enjoyable more than quietly atmosphere. By the way dundrum restaurant quality I'd super poor as well

Food was good except for the churros - chocolate too thin and liquidy; wasn’t great. Slow cooked duck leg is a great option. Kept getting asked every 2 seconds from the moment we sat at our table for our order, which got quite bothersome. Lighting seems a bit too dim; food looked entirely different color.

Describing the dining experience at The Port House is a bit of a mixed bag. While there were highlights like the delightful Haddock with veg, the overall impression was hindered by inconsistency. The prawns, unfortunately, fell short with a greasy and bland taste, and the piri piri Chicken wings failed to leave a lasting impression. Among the sauces provided, only the garlic mayo managed to shine, Sangria tasted nice, but again, just average nice. Service was satisfactory, but nothing exceptional. The ambiance initially seemed promising, but the strong scent of cigarettes at the entrance was unpleasant and hardly welcoming. To make matters worse, encountering dirty ashtrays inside the restaurant was a glaring oversight that detracted from the overall dining experience. Dirty ashtrays were stored to the left side just after entering the restaurant, which was surprising and concerning as it was inside the guests area. This detracted significantly from the overall ambiance and cleanliness of the establishment. Very unlikely we will be coming back.

Good food, nice wine selection and good prices. But an experience seriously held back by the service. - A glass of wine ordered alongside a bottle of wine taking 15 mins longer than the bottle to arrive, even after one of us had gone to the bar to ask was the glass arriving. - Food being delivered without regard for dietary restrictions; half our order was vegan and it was only that we remembered the name of each vegan dish as the staff delivering food seemed uninterested in delivering restricted food to the right guests. - Glasses and dishes accumulating for too long on tables, twice we brought our own empty glasses/bottles to the bar. - Staff seemingly unable to explain their namesake port menu in detail. - A round of ports ordered with a cheese board arriving several minutes after the cheeseboard. Our server that day, who said she was new, to her credit was very friendly and noted our dietary restrictions professionally. This place could be fantastic, but poor service is maintaining it at only 'good'.

I'm going to split this review into two parts - food and service. Firstly the food was hands down amazing. Maybe some of the best tapas I've eaten. The plates were a brilliant size, cooked beautifully and all tasted delicious. I had a fantastic spanish cheese board with some marvellous cheeses and there is a fantastic wine selection. I went for the Desig, something I've not heard of before but it was a gorgeous wine that i would look to have again. I want to make it clear i thought the food/drink was a 5* experience. the menu was so extensive and had the best and most varried selction i have seen, we struggled to choose! Unfortunately on the other side of this i did feel really let down by the service. One of the main dishes we ordered didn't turn up with the rest of our plates and we had to ask the waiter to check up on it which he did. He came back to check we had received it 5-10 mins later, we still hadn't. When it did arrive all our plates had been cleared and it felt like an add on to our meal not something we had ordered as a main. we were then left unattended for about 20 minutes without anyone coming to offer us dessert menus or another drink. I had to grab a waiters attention to get menus/more drinks after a lengthy weight. I ordered another glass of the wine I spoke about before but after it not arrive after 10 mins or so i had to re ask for it again. I did feel the service really let down the meal and we spent quite a while waiting to be served. I would like to add however that i thought the system for ordering by ticking the items you wanted and handing your menu back to the waiter was genius and a huge time saver and should be adopted at tapas around the world. the staff were also very helpful with our pram which was massively appreciated and were all very friendly. also i think the guy who was serving us knew the service could have been improved as when it came to our bill clicked 'no tip' on the card machine for us. While I don't know if this was intentional or not we appreciated it. I will also say it was extremely busy on our visit and don't know if we were just unlucky with our service. No one else seemed to be having similar issues with service. our bill came to €95, which for 8 dishes, 3 wines, a cheese board and a dessert i think is extremely reasonable for the quality of food. I would really like to give 4 or 5 stars, as the food and drink was amazing and despite the 3 stars i wourls still encourage you to try and see for yourself also get some desig.

Having seen the high reviews for The Port House, I was initially excited to try this place out. It also helps that I'm a big fan of tapas! First, I think the venue looks great! It may seem a little dark for some, but for me I think it adds to a great atmosphere. That's a positive, as were the staff throughout our evening. No issues there! I did find, however, that some tables are placed very, very close together. From ordering the tapas, it took fewer than 9 minutes to receive all five dishes we ordered. Quite fast, I thought! But then again, that's typically how fast tapas come out when dining in Spain. The tapas were good, but I just thought they were a little bit meh! Certainly not the best tapas I've had in Dublin, but neither were they the worst. I expected more. The croquettes were nice - very small though, and just a little boring. Frozen, store bought perhaps? Calamari is calamari - it's a copy & paste dish you find everywhere else. The beef cheek wasn't as tender as it should be, and it was a little dry! Almost as if it were left to dry out for a day or two. Mash was okay - a little boring, lacked seasoning! The patatas bravas were tasty though. Quite a nice sauce, but that was probably store bought too! The chickpea and chorizo tapa was a bit flat. Yes, it was "good", but it almost felt like cheap party food or something knocked up for a cheap hotel buffet rather than top-quality restaurant tapas and ingredients. You wouldn't complain but neither are you wowed either. I don't think "okay" is good enough when dining out. You expect more, and if I were a Spaniard, I'd be even more disappointed (and judging from other reviews, that certainly appears to be the case). Would I come back? Maybe, as it was good service in a nice venue and the food came out quick and it was okay. But it's not among the best tapas in the city in my opinion and for that, I think it's a shame.

Good but I found it super expensive ~ average price for vegetarian tapas 7/8€ and 12€ for cheese in. Please change the yellow light, it gives food a really bad looking… Good Cocktails. Delicious vegetarian tapas : croquetas spinsch cheese, Pa Amb Tomaquet, queso,…. Good crema catalana but we didn’t enjoy very much the Tarta de Santiago.

My wife and I went to The Port House as we are big fans of Tapas. The place is small and the seating inside is very close to other tables. That close we could hear the couple beside us conversation. When busy the place is loud. We ordered an array of Tapas to try. They were OK. Not amazing but nice. The staff were friendly.

K
Kara S

Very romantic scene. The food is good but a bit pricy. The service is friendly, but takes their time.

A
Ally Daly

Cool little spot. However, the service was really slow and inattentive. Staff were pleasant as people but not great as servers. We were also put on a tiny table as five people which wasn't ideal. Probably wouldn't come back. Food was alright, not fantastic.

l

The downstairs looks a lot more appealing than the upstairs. If you’re unfortunate to sit next to where they store the pots/wash them it’s quite noisy and loses the romantic aura of the restaurant. Had to wait a long time to be served and they didn’t explain how the menu works (tick boxes on a sheet). One of the waitresses accidentally knocked a pot of sauce onto me and there was no apology. Food was average, the asparagus was delicious though. Good value for money? No Would I visit again? No.

M
Michael Wood

Food taste and presentation perfect. Atmosphere was lovely. Service, a massive delay. Almost an hour before being told the machine had not punched in our order. To be fair as soon as they told us, our food was first out. But why were we not checked on for an hour?

V
Vinny Brown

Nice food and plenty to select from, atmosphere is good a little dark but all adds to it... toilets are not great but your table is on the clock so you have no time to go to toilet 🤣, 3 - 4 plates pp and few drinks pp so prize was reasonable

We visited The Port House recently again, we had been before some time ago and were looking forward to some lovely Spanish tapas, but unfortunately, several dishes fell short of expectations. The Croquetas de Jamón were decent but a bit on the greasy side. The Gambas al Pil Pil lacked flavour entirely—no garlic, chili, or sear—and we couldn't finish them. We mentioned this to our waitress, who kindly offered a replacement, but we declined to avoid food waste, and the dish was removed from the bill without issue. The Chorizo al Vino was okay (I finished most of it as I was hungry), and the Patatas Rotas were average but acceptable. However, the Chicken Paella was mushy with an off flavor (kinda fishy), and we barely touched it (this wasn't adjusted on the bill). We had a couple of nice cocktails: Atlantic Twist and Clover Club. Our glasses of wine were fine, and our server was genuinely friendly and attentive. The front-of-house host, though, came across as quite unwelcoming upon arrival. Overall, a disappointing meal compared to what we'd hoped for based on previous visits.. Service from the waitress was a highlight.

a
anthony merrigan

Very disappointed after last night's visit. We arrived on time but we were made to wait 15 minutes before even being acknowledged. The host then seated another group who came in behind us. We pointed this out but just received a grunt as a response. We were then left waiting a further 10 minutes which set the tone for the evening. 15 minutes to served any drinks, nearly an hour wait for tapa's food, we had to keep asking for drinks that were missed, or just they forgot, which was another response. The food was pretty good in all fairness. The staff and service were a huge let down and quite shambolic.

J
Josh Sulley

This restaurant is completely messy, with greasy food, small portions, and to top it off, we witnessed a fight between the manager and a waitress. It seems to be something common in this place. A night that was supposed to be a date turned into a tragedy. I hope they review their staff urgently, hire balanced people, and improve the portion sizes and the quality of the food, which used to be very good in the past.
