Absolutely loved this restaurant! This is a new favorite. The menu is clearly marked gluten free, you can get a lot of options and try them all. I will say the online menu is not completely up to date on what’s gluten free, but only about two items. (The fried oysters are no longer gluten free.) everything we had was delicious, and the cocktails were fun too. It is loud inside but the service was great and it was a fun time. The wait staff was knowledge about gluten free items and even announced “gluten free” or “celiac safe” with each dish brought out. I love when they verify it’s safe to eat!

Everything we had was great! Great bartender with great recommendations to start. The drinks were really good. I got the pink drink was nothing like l've ever had before! The mushroom soup was very tasty filled with mushrooms. The scallops were delicious and the steak had great flavor. The bartender convinced me to get the donut dessert and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend!

It was a perfect meal. Great cocktails, every dish was delicious, and even dessert was excellent. Truly a rare occurrence. Definitely on our list to come back to again.

Attended a lovely dinner by invitation of research team and enjoyed an awesome menu. The staff were prompt and friendly. The restrooms are clean & stocked with cotton swabs, paper towels. The cocktails are potent & tasty. I've never been here, but I would return. The area is a bit busy, but nice. Unika B. & Co.

Celebrated a friend's birthday here. The atmosphere was nice and the food was good! Will be back.

Wow! We had an amazing experience here. We walked in on a Friday night (group of 4) and they were able to accommodate us and sat us immediately. The restaurant was packed and very lively. They have a variety of vegan and vegetarian options. Every single dish we tried was delicious. My fav was the tofu buns. Food is served tapas style so the portions are a bit smaller. Service is fast. We ordered and they started bringing out plates within 5 minutes. We’re looking forward to our next visit!

Friendly service and boisterous atmosphere. You definitely need a reservation to dine here during peak periods. We dined on a Wednesday evening and sat at the bar because there were no standard tables available. The full menu is still available at the bar and it feels a little more casual which is great. Plenty of parking available at the mall next door by the Panera bread. There’s also street parking. Enjoy your dinner!

Took my lady out for our pre Valentines dinner, and JUJU was highly sought out for. The environment was very nice, the waitress was super nice and also gave us some suggestions. Tapas are the portions that are served here. Ordered 4 different types and definitely was more than enough for the 2 of us. Ordered 1 off the raw portion, 1 off the bun portion, and 2 other. It's definitely a place where we shall be returning.

Dining at Juju was an exceptional experience. The food was exquisite. Each dish was a masterpiece, with high quality ingredients and flawless presentation. Every bite was packed with flavor and perfectly balanced for sure. The service was impeccable, with attentive, knowledgeable staff who made sure every detail was taken care of. The atmosphere was elegant and sophisticated, creating the perfect setting for a special evening out. Highly recommended for those looking for a refined dining experience! Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time to avoid waiting since they are always busy and operate for few hours a day for lunch and dinner.

One of the best restaurants, bartender, & chef in the area. Awesome food, you can taste the ingredients are fresh, & the dishes blend classic and innovative styles perfectly. I always feel welcome here.

I absolutely love this place. The hostess or manager were super accommodating because we didn’t have a reservation, which made our experience even more delightful. The food 10 out of 10.. the guy bartender was phenomenal. We can’t wait to go back.

Wow, the food here is absolutely amazing, everything was spot on, the service was fast and they were all very friendly. I got the garlic Ramen, and it was the best Ramen I've ever had in my whole life. 10/10 would recommend!

This is by far the best culinary experience I've had in a while. Was here to celebrate my recent marriage with my partner, and she agrees wholeheartedly. We touched a little of everything, and I can't think of a bad dish. The wontons were nice and light, not heavy and over fried. The tofu buns were also great and the bok choy was so tender and not bitter. Scallops and the sesame tuna were cooked perfectly. Included are some pictures of our deserts, which were just as good as everything else. Cocktails were phenomenally blended, I don't think I can recommend them enough. The entire experience was 5 stars, and tops my list of places visited for 2024. Highly recommended, and worth the price!

Had a fantastic dinner sitting outside by the firepit. Great food, ambience, and service. Steven was wonderful! Also really appreciated Jake. Can't wait to come back.

This place is a must-stop if you’re in Durham! We had a reservation for a birthday dinner and they sat us quickly. The servers were excellent and knowledgeable, and the food was mind-blowing. The meals are served tapas-style, with the presentation being 10/10. We shared the bing (still thinking about it), ribs, cucumber salad, and the Filipino sisig (highly recommend!) If you’re like us, you’ll want to try everything on the menu.

We came with my children for dinner last night. The employees were kind and smiling. We ate beef wonton, spicy tuna bites, mongolian beef, pan roasted scallops. They were all very delicious. I understood why my children like this place so much. The food seemed very little salty to me, but it’s okay. It can come again. Thank you Juju🫶🏻

Very cute and cozy. We did lunch. The service was quick and the staff was very nice and took great care of us. The food was fresh and had great flavor but wasn’t overpowering. I personally like my dishes more saucy than this place does the food but the flavor didn’t disappoint. There was also a cute little bar that would be great for happy hour or dinner vibes. My boyfriend really liked the general tso chicken; he got extra peppers in it also. The beef wontons taste way better than they look and the pan seared shrimp wongtongs were bomb! Yummy. I recommend checking them out.

So my Family and I (Robin Gibbs) visited 11/25. This is our (my husband and I) 4th visit in less than 2 weeks and between Kate, Brea and the food. I need a reservation every week. Kate greeted me by name and Brea remembered my order. We tried the crispy Brussels sprouts and they were amazing. When I say this is the BEST restaurant around, I totally mean it and appreciate every server in here but especially Kate and Brea. Yes I concur mom! I will be making additional trips from Greensboro to enjoy the ambience phenomenal hospitality, personable personality and warm welcome. Thank you Juju chef/waitresses/staff‼️

Made reservations for a party of 2 and was greeted immediately and sat promptly. Our server Nate came over immediately to welcome us as well by asking if we have dined here before, which the answer was no. Nate let us know that most dishes were served tapas style so we decided to try 3 small plates and then 1 main dish. To drink i ordered the Sangria which had pineapple, pomegranate, lychee, cava. It was ok, really just tasted like dry red wine without any of the fruits but I still enjoyed it. We then ordered the Rib Wontons, Dumplings, and Bing bread with chive butter and lastly the Mongolian Beef with Potatoes. When I tell you that everything was fantastic and seasoned great, it was. I enjoyed everything so much that I made reservations for my birthday celebration in December for a party of 10. I look forward to coming back.

Greeted by the most friendly host!! (Beautiful young lady with long dark hair). She seated us in a clean, comfortable, and spacious booth. I am thankful that I was able to bring my baby's stroller in. The FOOD WAS PERFECTLY DELICIOUS. We loved everything we ordered, 5 small plates and 1 large for the 3 of us. I would order all of them again, and would love to try everything else. Unfortunately, we are not from the area, but would make it a point to stop here if we were ever traveling here or nearby again. Thank you! So far I tried- the sweet chili cucumbers short ribs wontons, NC shrimp, dumplings, general tso chicken- all amazing.

Had a fantastic meal here. You HAVE to get the shrimp. My boyfriend and I got into a real fight because he ate all of them but one when I wasn’t paying attention and I was so mad. Great options and nice atmosphere. Presentation of dishes is cool too.

One of my favorite restaurants in Durham. They have a lot of variety on the menu and everything I’ve gotten here has been good. They also have a great selection of cocktails. The leek fried rice and the short rib and goat cheese wontons are two of my favorites and I get them almost every time I come here. While it’s a bit on the pricey side, it’s a fantastic dining experience and my favorite place for special occasions.

We went here for the first time for an anniversary dinner. It did not disappoint! It was confusing to find it if you park in the shopping center but we eventually found it. First, they were accommodating for me as I currently am wearing a surgical boot and need to keep my foot elevated. They put us in a large booth they didn't need till a later reservation and it was greatly appreciated. They also have a DELICIOUS virgin mojito. I highly recommend the shrimp dumplings, beef wontons, and bing bread. LOVED them. The seasoning and flavors were superb. If they don't sell out, make sure to get the bao donuts for dessert! Servers and hostess were kind and accommodating. Very happy and will definitely be back.

The food is excellent for small plates at dinner. The menu does rotate some but I have yet to find something that I didn't enjoy or wouldn't eat again. The peanut butter cup dessert is delicious and a don't miss, even if you have to take it home to enjoy it. The food is priced on the higher side but you get what you pay for, so worth every penny.

S
Shrutika Varshney

It was an amazing experience at Juju’s. The Brussel sprouts were to die for! We ordered drunken noodles and chilli garlic noodles. Every dish was flavorful.

M
Maya Schojet

Great food and friendly service, but the plates should be served a bit slower to keep them warm (as is a tapas format you usually ask for several plates). The restaurant has a nice ambiance, but poor acoustics made it hard to hear my partner (sitting in front of me). Despite this, I'd recommend it for its delicious food and welcoming staff, better for casual outings.

S
Seriana

Let me start by saying I love the interior design of this place. It was my first time here and I'm blown away. Everything I had was amazing, presentation was top tier, and the drink was strong, but very well made. The customer service was top tier from the hostess to the server. We had the salad rolls, spicy tuna, charred octopus, bao buns, garlic noodles, bok choy and mushroom dish, some butter cream dessert, and sorbet. Top dishes would be the spicy tuna, salad rolls,  the bao buns, and the sorbet. Everything else was still good, but not 10/10. Definitely recommend. Only con is that it is on the pricey side, but worth it. I will be posting a full food review on my Instagram @seri_tag.

Fantastic!!! All 3 of us really enjoyed our meals. Lots of vegan and gluten free options, none of which compromised on flavor. The lettuce wraps we great, and they had tofu, actually my favorite tofu sushi have had! The sauce in the scallops was incredible and the scallops were perfectly cooked. We used the sauce from the scallops and mixed in with the General Tso chicken, so good!!

Juju was a great experience for my partner and I! We’ve been doing one fancier date night per month for a while now, and have gone to some truly spectacular places, but the desert here was hands down my favorite we’ve had! My only complaint is that the table was wobbly and the lighting mildly unpleasant above us. I’d recommend getting 4-5 dishes and saving room for desert.

Food was delicious. The shrimp dumplings appetizer was good size for 2 to share. I had the salad rolls and it was perfect - the dressing that comes with it was sooo good. The king pao chicken was a generous portion even at lunch. The staff was attentive and on the ball. We went during midweek lunch & found parking right out front.

A jewl in NC, we came in from out of town and dined with them 2 nights in a row. We had most of the menu between the 2 nights and each and every dish was fantastic. The manager Jake was so kind and accommodating. The service was quick and efficient, the drinks were delicious and well balanced. If you find yourself in Durham. Don’t miss out. 10/10. JuJu is a gem.

Such an excellent find on our few days in Durham. High marks all around - atmosphere, service, food... My husband even referred it to his medical conference group, so they dined there for a larger gathering. Diverse small plates and mains were all very well prepared. A great concept, executed perfectly...

R
Randy Pinion

Delicious, incredibly generously portioned food that arrives swiftly. Amusingly, the main plates felt like the worst "deal," but even there, the quality was excellent - it's just that the various small plates and other cheaper dishes were equally good, and minimum ten dollars less. It's fairly loud and tables are very crowded, but it's certainly not the worst case scenario for either. Serving staff were great, just stretched a little thin with so many customers present. Hostess was able to accommodate a special request from our reservation very graciously. Drinks were also excellent (and beautifully presented), and very creative if you're a cocktail enthusiast, but the wine/sake/beer options are also very solid. The crowd is an interesting mix of couples on fancy romantic dates nights and large families in very casual dress, so it strikes me as a place that will accommodate a lot of different needs. This was our second trip, and certainly not our last!

My friends and I discovered this place after a mishap at another restaurant. We were worried because we had lost time and were trying to have a nice dinner before heading to a show at the nearby venue. We quickly realized the initial mishap served us well as it lead us to Juju Durham . The host provided a great first impression and left us feeling pretty good about our 2nd attempt at dinner. He was exactly what everyone wants when coming into a restaurant. He was welcoming, calm, and pleasantly confident. He took a moment to survey the room before predicting a brief wait time. I think we were seated slightly quicker than predicted. The atmosphere was perfect. I regret that I did not get the name of the host! But he was there on the night of Saturday, 2/7. Kudos!! Once seated our waiter, Kai, was a gem. He was super kind and provided brief timely check-ins, allowing us to forget about the time and simply enjoy the experience. He was also supported by a team of service staff. I can not count the number of different service staff that brought out our dishes in perfectly timed intervals, allowing us time to savor each new introduction. There was a nice balance of flavors with every dish! The desserts (that we almost side-stepped ) only continued the winning streak! It was delicate, light, tangy, and refreshing, without being overly sweet. While we shared the small dessert, each of us felt the sampling was very satisfying! I can not overstate how delicious everything was! What we ordered: chicken dumplings, brussel sprouts, chicken skewers, garlic noodles, Gen Tso's with chicken, Gen Tso's with Tofu (with side of jasmine rice) and the almond tart for dessert After we thanked Kai for helping to make our birthday dinner memorable, he surprised the birthday girl with a special treat! We all got a taste and it did not disappoint. I'm not exactly sure what the birthday treat was, but hopefully it's on the menu!!! I don't write many reviews, but we agreed we couldn't pass on this opportunity. Thank you to the host (sorry again for not getting his name), Kai and the entire service team, the management, and of course the chef's for making our unplanned visit feel very calculated. We don't live in Durham but expect to return. We expect that we will be repeat offenders 🥰. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!! P.S. they had an "A" sanitation grade along with the A+ service. It doesn't get any better than that!

Love this place when I am feeling some Asian Fusion Tappas! 💯. Great food, love the sleek modern atmosphere. Been here 4 times and service was always pretty good. Some might find it a little pricey as they do serve better quality food IMO, and parking here can be a bit of a pain, but all in all, it checks all the boxes when it comes to great food and a unique experience. I would come here more often if it wasn’t so far from where I live.

My wife and I had a great experience here. We went on short notice and ended up making reservations for the bar, not really knowing what to expect, but it turned into a really enjoyable night. Danny was fantastic and made us three different margarita variations, all of which were excellent. His service struck the perfect balance: friendly and fun, but also respectful of our time to enjoy dinner and private conversation. The tuna bites, tuna stack, and lamb were all outstanding (definitely make sure to eat the garnish “salad” with the lamb 😄). The only thing I probably wouldn’t order again is the wontons, but everything else was spot on. We’ll definitely be back in the future.

Always a spectacular dining experience at Juju Durham. My husband is a vegetarian and they offer an array of options. We had the tofu buns, I had the octopus (my favorite in all of Durham restaurants) and the general tso tofu. With it being our anniversary, they brought us a delicious dessert. Wonderful service as always!

My best friend and I went here before seeing the Messiah and loved it! I have Celiac disease and they were extremely accommodating. They have a dedicated gf fryer and everything was delicious. We ordered the brown butter pudding for dessert and our server, Kai, made sure the cookies that came with it arrived on a separate plate to avoid cross contamination (my best friend is not gf and did want the cookies). I felt very safe eating here, and our server made it clear allergen awareness is a priority. I highly recommend Juju’s for anyone else who eats gluten free!

We ordered the drunken noodles and scallops (5 scallops). The scallops were delicious but be warned, they were spicy. The drunken noodles were ok but I won’t order that again. Hubby had the sangria and I had a Pinot Grigio. Our bill was 111.00 including tip which was pricey. No apps were bought on this trip. We had to sit at the bar because they were booked and our waiter which was the bartender never checked on us. We sat there for a while after we were done to get our check. Now I do believe the establishment should’ve had more than one bartending handling the entire restaurant to his defense. He was busy. He never did check on us… another guy ended up getting it for us… he looked like the floor manager. We won’t go again between the amount it cost and the lack of attention at our meal.

This was my first experience at Juju and it lived up to its reviews. The vibe inside was great. Love the color palette and layout of the restaurant. We ate at the bar and our server/bartender was great! He knew the menu well and made great recommendations. On top of that his mixologist skills were on point. One improvement I’d like to see is their selection of bourbon and liquor overall. We started our meal with the oyster which were had a nice spin to the typical preparation. Since I’m Filipino we had to get the Sisig! It wasn’t prepared how I’m accustomed to but they did a great job on their rendition of this dish. Lastly we got the pork belly buns and I’ve got to say, the portions on this dish are the biggest I’ve had for any bun dish over ordered. We passed on dessert because we were stuffed and short on time since we were headed to a show. Overall Juju was a great experience and I definitely will be back to try more of their menu.

I've been to JuJu once before, but it was pretty soon after they opened. I wanted to go back, so the perfect opportunity came up to take the youngest niece. She is my fancy eating baby. She is a picky eater, but almost anything I get her to try... she likes. She loves noodles, so she got the garlic noodles. They were really good with a nice kick. I ordered the soy braised lamb, glazed pork belly buns, and fried chicken buns to share. The lamb was sweet with a spicy kick on the back. We took the bread, git some yogurt off the plate, and then the lamb. Fantastic! The buns were also delicious, a nice size, and had a nice size portion of chicken and pork belly... no skimping! Joe was wonderful! We told him we'd gone for a walk before, and we were really thirsty. My water glass barely got halfway empty, and he was filling it. Dessert was a chocolate moose tini... strong and yummy. It was a beautiful evening, which made the outside dining a pleasure. You must try!

The place is very chic and people are having fun and laughing. My server is attentive and knowledge and cute. The food was good, just not great. The tuna bites with crispy rice, the rice isn't that crispy because it's too much rice. It's stodgy in your mouth. The pork sizzling sisay, looks amazing and tastes good. I just need more sauce.

J
Jesse Proctor

Juju is a popular Asian Fusion small plates resturant on 9th in downtown Durham. Go for the service, the pleasant modern atmosphere and the vegetables. With beautifully plated food and the high prices to match we were expecting some memorable bites, but found JuJu was more style than substance. Dishes were underwhelming and forgetful and some of the meat preparation lacked the skill expected in fine dining. Nothing was bad. Simply forgetful. What JuJu does well? The herb salad on the charred octopus and the cucumber salad were a real treat. We may go again just to try a few more vegetable plates. That's where JuJu shines. All in all a nice experience but with much tastier fine dining in town, at this price point, I would recommend spending your dollars elsewhere.

J
Joe (MrSchnydes)

I don't think this place hit home for us. First off the concept of Asian inspired tapas is great and the selection is unique. The pork belly and chicken buns and dumplings were fantastic and the star of the show was their ramen and tasty cocktails. Service was also really good. The marrow was good, but a bit overpriced for the portion and the lamb was way over fatty and difficult to eat, but the bread that came with it was top notch. The kicker for us was the bill: a credit card surcharge in a very popular location with already pricey food? No thanks. We won't be returning again.

S
Shruti Sharma

Food is top notch and that should be enough! Sadly, when you pay as much as you pay at Juju, you want an overall excellent experience. The service was so underwhelming that that is going to what we remember, especially for a birthday meal. Front desk so straight faced, 10 mins between 2 appetizers, 30 mins between appetizers and main course to arrive - all this at lunch time when the restaurant was not overcrowded. I really didnt want to post a negative review for a such a loved place but here we are. Btw, a call to the restaurant to share the review directly was not fruitful. They dont have an email on the website either 🤷

K
KR-B

All of our food that came out was incredible and I enjoyed the sangria. The overall vibe and aesthetic is great, but just wish we had a different server. It isn’t a good feeling seeing your server frequently checking on the tables to your left and your right, but blatantly ignoring your table. We would’ve loved to be asked during our meal if our food came out okay or if we wanted another drink (we did), the same way the other tables were. Really ruined the mood by the end of the meal when we noticed the difference in who received the better service versus us, who did not. It’s hard to not feel it was intentional. If not for this, our experience would have been perfect.

J
Jeremy Rosenberg

Should have been much better. Heard good things about JuJu, especially the spicy tuna bites, so my wife and i tried it out. Atmosphere and menu presented as elevated. I got tuna bites and the grilled octopus, wife got general tso. Overall food was decent but underwhelming. Tuna bites (4 pieces, $17) were good but i could have gotten as good of a sushi roll elsewhere for less. I was surprised when my entree came out about a minute later....just mine, not hers. Took about 10 minutes for her entree to come out, no explanation from server or staff. Whatever happened back there, expo did a terrible job timing the service, and when her entree finally arrived there was no acknowledgement of the delay, as if it was normal not to serve entrees together. Entrees were good but nothing special. Throughout our meal server had 1 table check to refill our drinks, did not ask how the food was or if we were enjoying. Unfortunately based on our experience i cannot recommend this restaurant. Hope others had a better time

Noticed a decline in the quality of taste over the last 6 months. I’ve done dine in and take out more recently to try and give this place another chance. I went from eating here weekly to not really desiring it because food quality has gone down. Super disappointed. I used to bring all my out of town friends and family here but have since had to find another reliable and consistent spot. The drinks have stayed consistently good. The bartender knows what he’s doing and does it super well. Also saw a manager very rudely make a woman and her elderly mother to get up from the bar because they didn’t have reservations. Those seats looked available and there wasn’t anyone at the front to direct them so they seated themselves. I understand they’re a busy establishment but there was a better way of asking the pair to wait for an opening. It was extremely rude and like the food, also left a bad taste in my mouth after witnessing that.

A
Anne Zhao

This restaurant is distinctly underwhelming and overpriced. It was a shock to face such hostile attitude when we arrived. We understood that drinks can’t be taken inside so my husband said he would put it back in the car. While waiting for him, I asked politely if I could be seated first. Nevertheless, the hostess refused to seat me until my husband was back. She was arrogant talking to me while being nice to other guests. After we sat down checking the menu waiting for the food, I noticed that more than half of the group just arrived at the table behind us. The three people came earlier had already been there for a while waiting for the rest of them. The way she treated us was simply unacceptable. We ordered six plates. Only two of them were good, wontons and scallops. The lamb was so bad that I didn’t even want to take another bite. It was our first visit and will also be the last one.
