Absolutely exceptional place! Me and my friend visited Edinburgh in December (I know, took me a while to write it 🫣) and as a foodie had this place on my list to visit weeks before our trip. Food was amazing, service outstanding (especially our server Miryam) and fab decor and atmosphere. Well done guys, as it's very hard to keep everything on top being so busy like you ! Thank you and I hope to visit you again 🤍
My husband and I had brunch and coffee here and it was tasty. Ryan was very friendly, nice, attentive and helpful. Even tho he was very busy with the customers, his smile never faded. He even accommodated us to sit by the window so we could enjoy our brunch and watch the snow falling outside 😍
We truly enjoyed our dinner at The Society! Our server, Bee, was absolutely wonderful as she is warm, professional, and attentive. She made us feel so welcome and even took the time to ask about my food allergies, which allowed us to fully relax and enjoy our evening. Everything we ordered was exceptional: the beer was refreshing, the Margherita Pizza was marvelous, the Steak with Chimichurri sauce was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, and the Miso Aubergine was tender and rich. We ended the meal with the Toffee Pudding and it was absolutely delicious! Every dish was a highlight, and the service made it all the more memorable. Hands down, the best dinner we’ve had in Edinburgh. Highly recommend!
I had a very enjoyable breakfast with a stunning view. The atmosphere inside is beautiful and very well thought out. The staff are extremely attentive and friendly. Special thanks to the host at the entrance for kindly accommodating my request and seating me by the window. A lovely experience overall I would definitely come back.
Be prepared to wait outside to get in. However the staff will periodically come out and ask party size and bring you to the front if your party is two. We ordered the French toast and the steak baguette. We also ordered an Espresso martini and a bloody Mary. The food was both amazing and plentiful. The bloody Mary was the best I've had in Edinburgh. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place for brunch.
We had a lovely visit at Society Bar and Kitchen in Edinburgh. We ordered the salmon and the full Scottish breakfast, and the food was genuinely impressive. The haggis and black pudding were the highlights—rich, flavorful, and beautifully cooked. Even the beans stood out; they were much creamier compared to what we usually get in London, which made the dish feel more comforting and unique. Overall, it was a great introduction to authentic Scottish food before heading back to London. The only small downside was that our table was located near the dishwasher area, so it was a bit loud at times. Other than that, we really enjoyed the experience. Would definitely recommend giving it a try!
Our hotel highly recommended Society Bar and Kitchen for breakfast, so we decided to give it a try.. and we’re so glad we did. It ended up being one of the best breakfasts we had on our entire holiday. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. From start to finish, it was a fantastic experience. Highly recommend starting your day here!
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Society. Despite how busy it was (a testament to its popularity), everything from the food to the service exceeded expectations. Location & Atmosphere: The restaurant is in a prime location with classic views of the city. We were lucky enough to get a window seat — the perfect spot to enjoy brunch while soaking in the scenery. Food & Drinks: We ordered The Highlander (salmon, poached eggs, and cottage cheese on toast), and it was fresh, well-balanced, and delicious. The shakshuka was vibrant, flavorful, and had just the right amount of spice. The oat milk latte was smooth and creamy, and the coffee itself was strong and rich, exactly what you'd hope for in a good brunch. Service: The staff were warm and attentive, despite the busy atmosphere. A special shoutout to Lara, who went above and beyond to help us — she was kind, accommodating, and made us feel really welcome. Things to Note: There is a one-hour time limit per table, so keep that in mind when planning your visit. That said, the experience is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend if you're looking for a memorable brunch in Edinburgh with great food, top-notch service, and unbeatable views.
We had a wonderful brunch experience here! The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. A special shout-out to Dominika, who provided exceptional service throughout our visit. She was friendly, attentive, and very professional, making sure everything was perfect and that we felt well taken care of. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be back!
I came in for dinner and had a delightful meal choosing the steak and spinach. Dominika was attentive without being intrusive. I was dining solo and busy. On a Monday night in January the restaurant was not busy which is the reason for the lower atmosphere score. I did have a good view to the street from a window seat, so could people watch. The food was well prepared and served hot. Peppercorn sauce was delicious without being overpowering. And the paired wine went beautifully. Both tasty and a good value.
I had a great experience at Society Kitchen. I ordered the Eggs Royale and the Mediterranean Breakfast, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The food was fresh, full of flavor, and the portions were very generous. The service was fast and excellent, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Our waiter, Michael, was extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout our meal. I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to visiting again.
Amazing breakfast spot! The food was super delicious and the service was really friendly. We got a window seat with a lovely view. Even without a reservation they found a table for us, but it fills up quickly, so coming early is a good idea. The Shakshuka and Eggs Royale were both 10/10. Would definitely come back!
On my first trip to Edinburgh and Society just happened to be close by to the hotel a cheeky brunch. It's always packed and the staff are very friendly. Went for the Mediterranean Morning and was pleasantly suprised by how filling and tasty it was, especially the baked beans. Viki who served us did a great job too, attending to our needs.Overall a highly recommend for anyone visiting.
Very good restaurant. Small and precise menu. The mac & cheese is amazing and the ‘Café de Paris’ sauce is spectacular. I recommend being brave and trying the Haggis as an extra. Cameron took great care of us and gave perfect and friendly recommendations. Without a doubt, saved to come back again. I didn’t even get the chance to take photos
I went early in the morning and I was one of the first few customers, which turned out to be a great decision! Within minutes, the place started to fill up and was buzzing with people. Getting there early meant I could grab a lovely window seat, perfect for people-watching as the city started to wake up. ☀️ I ordered the Mama Club sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious. Very hearty, flavourful, and kept me full for hours. The atmosphere was warm and lively, and you can tell it’s a popular spot for good reason. I’d highly recommend it for breakfast or brunch, especially if you can make it early and catch one of those coveted window seats!
I absolutely loved my dinner! The atmosphere was amazing. When we arrived it was full of people but it was still super great service and the food arrived within a reasonable time. The upstairs where we were seated was beautifully decorated with plants and such. Definitely recommend this restaurant!
We went with no expectations and ended up LOVING it ! Music was nice, wine selection was stunning, service was loveeely and beef was exceptional. Will define come back on our next Edinburgh holidays ❤️❤️ (food was so lovely we had to go for a second round. I wish we were joking)
Breakfast was an absolute delight, starting with the Eggs Royale — perfectly poached eggs, rich and silky, paired beautifully with delicate smoked salmon and a luscious hollandaise that balanced indulgence and freshness in every bite. The Turkish eggs were just as memorable: warm, garlicky yogurt, gently spiced butter, and flawlessly cooked eggs created a comforting yet exciting harmony of flavors. Each dish felt thoughtfully prepared, generous, and deeply satisfying. The textures were spot on, from the softness of the eggs to the vibrant sauces that brought everything together. A special thank you to Miryam, whose warm smile and attentive service made the experience even more enjoyable. She was welcoming, professional, and genuinely caring throughout our visit. This breakfast felt less like a meal and more like a treat. A wonderful start to the day, made unforgettable by great food and even greater service.
This place is a gem. They’ve recently reopened after a refurbishment, and it looks great. If you really want a proper Scottish brunch with Haggis, this is the place to try it! The food and the coffee were top-notch, but what impressed me most was the warm hospitality. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home. It was the perfect start to my day. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town! Special thanks to the owner for being so kind!
Food and wine was excellent. Thea is a wonderful personable server. She takes a genuine interest in her customers...not just with me. I watched her do the same with others. She recommended I return for brunch. The manager, however, seemed a bit more concerned with turning the tables quickly 🤔 than providing great service. Bonus: Beautiful view from the window seats.
Great brunch place! Tiny but beautiful dining space. They give a lot of smoked salmon, when you finish the bread, there is still salmon. Taste is good. Toffee sticky pudding is very sweet, but the combination of the pastry, syrup and ice cream is wonderful.
We came here for a dinner during our trip to edinburgh and it did not disappoint! The food was great, the atmosphere was so nice and warm, and our server, Michel was so lovely and welcoming. Would absolutely come back!
We had a fantastic dinner at Society Bar & Kitchen in Edinburgh. We tried the 10oz Steak cooked to a perfect medium, sourced from local farmers – tender and full of flavor. I paired it with the Whisky sauce, which complemented the meat beautifully. We also sampled the Haggis, served in authentic Scottish style, and the Tiger Prawns, which were slightly spicy and a bit salty, but that gave them a special and unique taste. Of course, everything went perfectly with a glass of traditional Scottish whisky. The restaurant itself is cozy, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Special thanks to Nick, our waiter, who gave excellent recommendations and organized everything quickly – we didn’t have to wait long, which was a real plus. The prices are very reasonable, about average for a British restaurant (££), and the quality is definitely worth it. Highly recommend visiting this place – you’ll leave satisfied!
Ordered a Full Scottish at £20. A tad steeper than what I’d expected. Black pudding and haggis tasted great. But fantastic food with equally fantastic ambience & service. Excellent view at the window seats too!
Came here after another place refused to honor our open table reservation. Friday evening at prime dinner time. Thought something was wrong because this place was so incredibly reasonably priced, and they sat us immediately. The staff was excellent. Extremely attentive and friendly. The steaks were delicious, excellent sauces, and shrimp. Nice drinks. And the prices were a real bargain as well. We were very happy.
We had a Scottish breakfast. Really delicious and very generous for £20. The only small negative point was that we were served our tea well in advance of the main course. But otherwise the experience and the service were impeccable. I highly recommend it.
Food, views, vibes, and atmosphere was amazing. Sanaz was any amazing waitress, quick and efficient service while being friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back!!
Bright, welcoming and a very fairly priced menu. Welcomed by Michael, a delightful waiter who enhanced the experience with his professional, courteous and efficient service. Great music and a very pleasant atmosphere.
Great place! I really liked it, we will come here again. Varied menu, delicious food, and very very friendly staff. We were served by the waiter Ryan, a smiling and cheerful guy. I also want, to separately say words of gratitude, to the employee who meets the guests, it is delight, at first sight!!!
This was the best steak I ever ate in a restaurant! It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The vibe within the restaurant was immaculate, the music was amazing (not too loud) and the waiters were all so lovely (especially Chiara!) A must visit while in Edinburgh.
Our experience at Society Bar was a perfect start to the day. Our Eggs Benedict and pot of tea for two were fantastic. Great attentive, polite service provided by Anna. You may have to wait for a table , however we truly recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We went for brunch on a weekday. There was a short queue at the entrance. The food was quite delicious, but the “fresh” orange juice was not actually fresh.
The foods were absolutely amazing. Perfect for 4 of us. Even kids loved the stakes. Dominika was really friendly and kind. Great atmosphere. Great foods. Strongly recommend.
Highly recommend this spot! The sweetest most amazing staff, host was super accommodating and my server Sanaz was super attentive and kind. Food was made with love. Great ambiance. One of my favorite places I’ve been to in Edinburgh
We had a lovely quick dinner at the society just round the corner in edinburgh. We were looked after by Cameron very well. He is a friendly waiter that we came across in this beautiful city. Hope to see you soon.
We have visited this lovely location twice in our Edinburgh vacation. Very delicious food, a special breakfast, very kind staff, and especially if you get one of the seats in the corner in front of the windows It is definitely a fun to watch Edinburgh’s all day living. Definitely recommended. Thanks to Sanaz for the great service .
So good we came back the next night! Menu is simple and straightforward and the food is phenomenal, especially for the price point. Service was spot on and the location is great for watching people go by. Highly recommend.
Excellent spot in Edinburgh for breakfast. The best full Scottish I've had in my time in the country. Service is prompt and polite, food is delicious and reasonably priced for the quality. Would recommend.
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent, well prepared, and beautifully presented, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I would especially like to highlight the outstanding service provided by our waiter, Michael. He was extremely professional, attentive, and genuinely kind, always making sure we were comfortable and enjoying our meal. His recommendations were spot on, and his attitude truly made a difference in our visit. Thanks to Michael and the rest of the team for such a pleasant dining experience. We will definitely come back and highly recommend this place.
Lovely, welcoming place. Looked after very well by Dominika. Prompt service. Enjoyed a cocktail. I had pizza, and all the toppings were cold. Buffalo cheese, tomato and rocket. All lovely ingredients, but I wouldn't have it again. Lovely cheesecake for dessert with an espresso martini.
The brunch food items we chose were not the most appetizing, but highly recommend stopping in for a coffee. There are some great coffee shops in Edinburgh, but I thought Society's cappuccino was by far the best. The staff will also remind you upfront that they do not take cash as a form of payment, and you have an hour.
We went to this place after reading the comments / good reviews online. My Shakshouka with scrambled eggs was not that great, my friend had the mama club - which he said was good.
