This is my second time coming to this restaurant and MAN! They do NOT disappoint! The food is absolutely delicious! My fav so far being the beef shawarma wrap. Tarbosh Mediterranean Restaurant exceeded my expectations! The customer service was absolutely phenomenal everyone was attentive, friendly, and made me feel welcome. The atmosphere was great, very neat, and had a comfortable vibe that made dining enjoyable. The food was the highlight. The chicken shawarma plate, appetizers, beef + rice tasted incredibly fresh, full of flavor, and perfectly seasoned. Definitely a spot I’ll be returning to and recommending to others!

We went for all you can eat brunch and everything was delicious. It would be nice if the bread can be toasted and no paper bowls would be great. The staff were nice and friendly. We will go back for sure.

I came on a Sunday with my family of 5 had an amazing experience at buffet, they had 3 kinds of salads and 5 or so kinds appetizers, for the main course there was around 10 options or more including chicken nuggets and fried fish for the kids, most main dishes are home-made dishes so definitely a healthy option considering for example broiled chicken and rice ,zucchinis and meat, lamb cooked in yogurt, mujadarah, frikah, all those dishes are rich in fiber and protein and way lower on fats and almost no saturated fats( excluding fried food), also it worth mentioning that drinks are completely free which is rare thing to see nowadays,coming for dessert there was some middle eastern sweets-on rotation-as well as few kinds of fruits,smoothies and shawarma and special dessert such Dubai chocolate and mhalaia are optional and not included which is a let down but we can't complain since all that was 30$ a person thats a steal in today's buffet market, while eating i spotted a guy hovering over food every 5min after i spoke with him i found out he s the general manager "Karim". This is definitely one o the middle easter spots that care about the food and the customers before their pockets

The food was outstanding. The chicken shawarma had an incredible flavor, the grilled chicken was perfectly cooked and delicious, and the open buffet was fantastic — a wide variety of dishes, all clean, fresh, and very well organized. And I have to mention the restrooms — extremely clean and well-maintained, which really shows how much they care about their place.

Probably my favorite Lebanese (Syrian?) restaurant in the San Diego area. The chicken Tika wrap and chicken escalope plates are delicious. The hummus is a bit overpriced but it’s really good. Their mint lemonade (almost like a slushie) is worth it but on the pricey side too. They have a buffet day too that’s worth trying out. Lastly, I recommend always taking home some of their baked goods, their mini pizzas are amazing.

We were welcomed in even though the place was empty and seemed like they were ready to finish setting up for the next day and go home. Our server was very patient, kind, and even recommended dishes that took a little longer to prepare knowing the staff would have to stick around. The food was fresh and tasted great. If you like lamb shank you’ve gotta order it. I thought it was odd that I didn’t receive a knife when it was served but quickly realized that I didn’t need it. The meat melted in my mouth like butter. The lemon mint drink was a little tart, by design I assume, because I couldn’t stop drinking it. DELICIOUS!! Gotta say, they made regulars out of my wife and I with their over the top hospitality and great tasting food. Can’t wait to try the Sunday, rotating cuisine buffet.

The food is very delicious! We had both the cheese and za’atar manaeesh fresh from the oven and they were warm, soft, and flavorful. The kashaty fruit cocktail had a variety of fruits mixed with chocolate, cream, and honey, all topped with banana and pistachios, making for a wonderful burst of flavor. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Everything was great. Very nice breakfast out experience. The Kahi and Qaimar were so delicious, the Manaqeesh were great as well. My son tried the delicious burger combi it was 10/10. In all it was an excellent experience. I would love to come again with my family and friends.

Great restaurant as I come here often. Food is always delicious. They’re open late so It’s a great place to have a mellow cafe night with some coffee and a nice pastry with friends. Breakfast lunch and dinner the food here is great. The service is always on point at Tarboosh. The waitress Sara is such a wonderful person. She’s such a hard worker. First time at Tarbosh and so happy we tried this resto! Met Sara our server who was super kind and nice. The hummus, Shawarma, and french fries were all delicious! Everything was fresh. We even were greeted by the owner of Eli… Sarah informed us of their Sunday brunch from 1 to 6 PM for only $30. We will be back.

I will never buy their beef Shawarma again it’s full of fat and the meat is very chewy But to be honest,but all other food tasty. They just need to work on their Shawarma beef.

The food is somewhat dry. Specially the shawarma. But other than that it’s food overall. The owner is nice and is from Israel. Not sure why there is confusion that they are Syrian.

I was running errands in El Cajon around lunch time so I stopped by Tarbosh, a Syrian cuisine restaurant in the heart of El Cajon city. Restaurant was spacious with lot of tables a could host a lot of people and large groups. There were seats by the entrance and people were sitting there waiting for their food to go. Since I have not eaten Syrian food before, I asked a fellow customer for suggestion and she said to order the chicken shawarma combo and it would come with a sandwich. The whole bill came to $10.81 which was very budget friendly. So I ordered the recommended combo. While waiting, I walked around the restaurant. It has a bakery on site and lots of dessert available. Noted that most customers ordered food to go. There were only two small groups of people dining in. This restaurant should hire more help at the counter. One cashier was multitasking: taking walk-in orders,taking phone orders, packing the food boxes to go and answering floor customers questions and requests, fetching complimentary sodas for customers and checking with kitchen staff for status of orders. Poor cashier needs help. Also, kitchen should get more help to prepare food. It took nearly 45 minutes to get my food. After a long wait, I told the cashier I could not wait any longer. What irritated me the most was that people came after me got their food first. I was in fact the last person to get the food to go. One customer who was there earlier came back to the restaurant and when she saw me, she said you are still here. Cashier knew that I was not happy for the long wait but didn’t apologize but merely said they were very busy. I would have like an apology for the long wait and hope they do better to manage the lunch crowd. I will not go back to this restaurant simply it is unacceptable to wait 45 minutes for two sandwiches (wraps), pickled veggies and French fries. The food was okay but not exceptional to merit another visit.

I was disappointed with my experience at this open buffet restaurant. We were kept waiting in a long queue before the buffet opened, and it seemed the delay was intentional as staff were filming the line to make the place look crowded. Customers were recorded without permission, which felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. The food quality was average and not particularly memorable. I was also confused by the claim of authentic Syrian cuisine. While the owner is israeli—which is absolutely fine—the background and branding felt somewhat misleading. Overall, there’s room for improvement in both professionalism and food quality.

We held a birthday party for my son and placed a large catering order one day in advance. I paid for enough food to serve 30 people, but on the day of the event only enough food for about 15 people was delivered. It was disappointing and embarrassing. I called the manager right away. Instead of taking responsibility, he took advantage of the stutation to have me on the spot, he tried to convince me the portions were correct and blamed the employee who took the order for not explaining it properly. I had confirmed the quantities when ordering and paid for them in full, so this explanation did not match what was delivered. After further discussion, he agreed to send another tray, but it arrived about an hour and a half later. By then, several guests had already left without eating, which put me in a very awkward position as a host. Overall, the service was unprofessional, the order accuracy was poor, and the complaint was handled badly. I would not trust them again for event catering. They provide alot of options but most of them didn’t taste authentic and lacked the depth of flavor you would expect from a traditional Syrian dish. it felt misleading to market the restaurant as Syrian when the food doesn’t reflect that culinary tradition. Also, the buffet area was extremely crowded. We had to wait in line for more than 10 minutes because they were busy taking photos and videos of the food, which felt inconsiderate and a bit disrespectful to the guests waiting.

Honestly, every time we come here, we say this is the last time, but today was the last straw. We’re definitely not coming back. First of the staff is not trained in customer service. The person on the cashier is the same one that’s serving us and whenever someone comes in the restaurant, he would help them because they’re on the register first, but we were sitting for a long time waiting for him to bring us the menus and to take our order. Since when does kebab not come with bread and when we asked they kept saying they will bring it but after waiting for long we went up to the register and asked again and they said “ The store rules do not allow us to give bread” we told them we’ll pay for it only then they gave it to us but it would’ve been nice to know that first before ordering or when we asked 3 times before. And when another family came in they immediately gave them bread… anyways that’s not the problem the food got to our table cold and drinks were sorry to say this but waste of money even the water had a weird taste. It’s like they don’t care about this place at all anymore, I am deeply disappointed in where this restaurant is going. Edit: please reply, truthfully, and not with ChatGPT… and check the other reviews before coming and telling me “if this visit was genuine” why else would I lie? I have nothing to gain from this. The review I left a year ago was positive until yesterday I changed it. And about the bread, maybe you should tell the server that was serving us yesterday alongside the chef that was cooking. They said, and I repeat in Arabic "الخبز ما يجي مع الاكل” when we insisted they said "قواعد المحل ما تسمح” and I believe you guys have cameras and you can go back and check then the family that came after us they also told them the same thing so we gave them our bread and then when they saw that they took bread and heated it and brought it to them… I don’t know if the staff was just feeling lazy because it was Christmas, but it really wasn’t busy to begin with.

nceled my order and the manager stepped in. A small statured, whiny man with light colored eyes. He didn’t speak to her in English even though his English is perfect. He told her in their native language, which is fine but why wouldn’t he just address me directly, that “you can’t order buffet and she orders salad. Whole table has to order buffet or no one.” The buffet was $30 and my order was $15. Not only is this poor business but what kind of policy is that?! The food at the buffet just sits out. Cold items are not held at proper temperature, theres no ice or cooling mechanism, the hot food is uncovered and without any sneeze guards, its just a plastic table with large amounts of food left out to spoil. We had to ask for water 7 different times and the tea I ordered at the beginning of my meal was not brought until I already started eating. The fatoush salad was soaked in a highly acidic dressing, the rice was so heavily coated in cumin and turmeric it was inedible, the falafel salad had no dressing at all, and the falafel sandwich was soggy and flavorless. This was the worst experience and we won’t go back.
